Vocal Training
When you are a singer it is very important to take care of your voice. That means to get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, exercise and most importantly vocal training. Sandra spends at least an hour a day vocalizing, she says her voice is in constant need of training and warm up. Her voice just doesn't sound the same if she doesn't.

Sandra Lavide didn't sing a lot this weekend, cause she felt she had to rest her voice a little bit. That is also very important to do sometimes, cause if you strain your voice it can be damaged. She felt she had been singing so much lately and she felt a little tired so she let her voice get some rest.

But today it's Monday again, a new week, so she had to do her vocal training as usual. She has a routine that she does everyday, but today she started out carefully cause she hadn't sung in a few days.

New Blogs
Richard Darell and Sandra Lavide are putting up some new blogs for you to enjoy. It's in the works at the moment and we'll let you know more about in a day or two, about where it's at and how you can follow it and subscribe to it. It's going to be a more personal journal from these two artists, where they will write more about what they do and how they feel in the process of making a record and performing and all that other fun stuff. They will let you in on both the up sides and the down sides they face every day in this really tough business we call Showbiz!

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 44

Recording Time
Richard Darell is keeping busy, not only is he working on finishing up his album but he's also writing for other projects as well. He was in the studio today to record some vocals on a song he wrote with Mathias Venge and Peter Wennerberg for an Idol project. Due to confidentiality we can't say which artist it is yet.

Recording the vocals didn't take him that long so Richard had some inspiration to start on a new song. So he began making a cool beat and before he knew it he had a song with melody and everything. He decided to ask Sandra Lavide to co-write it with him.

Lyrical week
Sandra Lavide has a lot of lyrics to finish up, so this week she is going to focus a lot on that. It was such nice weather today so she spent the day in the sun with her iPod and a notepad. Being in the studio can be a lot of fun and you can focus on what you're doing. But sometimes especially when it's sunny and warm outside you don't really feel like sitting inside a dark studio, you just gotta be outside! Especially when writing lyrics it's nice to sit outside and get inspiration from nature and watching different people walking by.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 43

Saturday Recap
Looking back at what we have done during the last week is always important and it helps analyze what we could have done more effective. I mean, working on a small independent label is fun, creative and interesting but sometimes you need to rethink things in order to generate more thrust in the business and in the time schedule.

We are concentrating heavily right now on getting Richard Darell's and Cypher's album finished so that the release won't be delayed in anyway. After all we know how excited you are about these releases. We are doing everything we can right now just to get them finished but to often you get interrupted by phone calls, email correspondence and stuff that you sometimes just need to take care of. It's for the good of the business! 

Well, let's just say we found a couple of things we could have done more effective and we will be changing those routines. 

Live Show Video
The work on Sandra's and Richard's live video shoot is coming together just fine. We have set the deadline to the 30^th and hopefully we will make that. Looking at all the material we have to go through, cut, edit and put together this won't be an easy task but we will be doing our very best! That's a promise!

As said before, you will be able to look at all the videos that we have shot as soon as they are done. We will post them here on Spinlane's MySpace site but also on their individual spaces which you can find links to all over this site. We will also include links from this blog as soon as the videos are announced.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 42

Friday The 13th
Richard Darell has been working hard in the studio this week so today on Friday the 13th....ooooh scary; he went on a little trip to his brother to help him chop down some trees. Some people might think that was a real "dare devilish" thing to do on this dreaded day…lol but not Richard he just thought it was funny to see what actually would happen. So there he was this Rock Star artist in a trucker hat, an old rugged shirt, some real dirty worker pants and a chainsaw in his hands. If we only had a picture…LOL! Nothing terrible happened…well they accidentally chopped down a tree in the wrong direction so it fell down on a telephone pole. Let's just say the neighbors weren't thrilled about that. LOL!

Sometimes you just have to get that creative mind to rest once in a while. We all have our different ways to deal with an overworked head. Richard's way to not think about anything is to get down and dirty in the forest…LOL ok we're going to stop making fun of him now! 

Writers Block
Sandra Lavide spent the day writing lyrics. Although she felt as if she had gotten writers block which means you can't think of anything to write about. She manages to write some really nice stuff for a group she is writing for at the moment, in between doing her own stuff.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 41

Deadlines
Many of our deadlines are coming up here at Spinlane. For example Richard Darell's deadline for the songs to be finished on his debut album is April 30. So he is very busy in the studio these days, touching up some lyrics, background vocals and other stuff that needs to be perfected.

You may not know this but Richard Darell is very much a perfectionist. He needs it to be as good as he knows it can be and if it's not well…just do it again. LOL! We think this is a good quality in an artist, because it's important to feel that it can always be better and you can always evolve in what you're doing. If you just settle for what you have at the moment you won't grow, neither as a person nor an artist. But it is also extremely important in contradiction to this, to once in a while stop and be proud of what you've accomplished so far and be happy for the blessings and gifts you have been given and what you've fought for.

Video
The video we've been talking about from the showcase Richard and Sandra did a few weeks ago is coming together nicely. We just received some samples from it and it looks really good. Scott Rocha the editor is so talented! We are very excited to show it to you guys real soon.

Also the video from their acoustic performances is in the making as well. We will also post the live acoustic version of Richard Darell's "So Blind" and Sandra Lavide's brand new song "Just Like This" (also live version) on their individual MySpace pages. So keep checkin' in to be a part of all that!

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 40

Buy Our Music
We have some good news for you today. We just got our deal set up with more then 300 electronic music distributor on the internet. That means that soon all of you can buy our music from almost anywhere on the net. Isn't that cool? As soon as we are done with Sandra Lavide, Richard Darell and Cypher's albums and singles they will be available on theses sites. We will let you know the names of theses sites when the music is out. For example iTunes will be one of them. 

We think this is an awesome way to get music out there to all the fans as soon as possible. Because, we know a lot of you are asking where you can buy the CD for this or that artist, and now you don't have to wait that long anymore for it to come out to all the stores before you can buy it. Just go on our site and you will be directed to where you can buy it online. Also get pictures, see videos and all that other fun stuff.

But, we do know that there is a certain magical feeling in going to a store and actually get a hardcopy of a CD with an artist you really like. There is something special about opening the case and taking out the booklet and seeing all the cool pictures, reading the lyrics and who wrote and made the music. That will never go away, so don't worry every artist's CD will come out in stores as well!

Sandra Lavide's L.A Trip
As some of you know, Sandra Lavide is scheduled to go to L.A to work on her album. Unfortunately the trip has been postponed a couple of weeks. Since she's not going to be there more than a week the schedule has to be filled almost every minute. So more planning has to be made in order to get all the right people involved. We'll keep you posted.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 39

April Divine
Finally April Divine's promo package was picked up. We've been waiting with excitement for it to arrive all weekend. We were definitely not disappointed with what we were given. The album cover and booklet looked really great, it represents the band really well. But let's not forget the music…it's hot you guys, believe me! For all you rock lovers out there, you can't miss this album. Well it doesn't matter if you like rock or not, the music transcends all that and the singer Joakim has a very comfortable voice.

Joakim, Per, Niklas and Andreas you guys are the s**%#, rock on fellas! We'll be doin it BIG in 2007!!

Cypher
The guys in our group Cypher is getting ready to record another song later this week. Everyone is really excited about the release of their single which will be out later this spring.  We'll let you all know the date when everything is in place and ready to tear the radio up! There is a buzz going around about them, so their music is highly anticipated.

Cypher will be performing all over Europe this summer and during the fall, so all you Americans out there hold on a little longer they will come over to the US eventually.

Pablo Moraga came in to the studio today to put down his vocals on one of the songs. He has just recovered from a serious cold that just wouldn't go away, so the schedule has been thrown off a bit. But now we're hitting it hard so the single can be released in time.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 38

Monday Still Holiday
Even though it's Monday and still holiday we still have to take care of some stuff today. Some is kind of routine and some other things are just plain fun. For example, we decided to take care of all the messages you guys sent us. We wanted to answer them privately so you know that we are not just sitting here writing out own stuff.

We really do read ALL the messages and comments we get and it's great fun. To repay you we want to stay in touch and that we will. As much as time permits that is. But be sure about it, we will eventually come to your message and answer it as best we can!

Contracts And Deals
We also had to take care of some contracts that we are currently negotiating One thing we have learned is that ALWAYS get it on paper. Too many times have we lost revenue that was supposed to go to us but didn't. No names mentioned… But, that was yesterday and now our business looks way different and we will stay true to it to the bone.

What we had to do today was to get in touch with a couple of entertainment lawyers in order to get assistance and guidance for our deals. You do want everything to be right cause if it is then the rest of the work will go smooth and easy, not to mention it'll be fun to knowing everything is set up alright.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 37

The Show Must Go On
Just like we said yesterday, even though it's a holiday the music business can't take time off. So even though we might want to just stay in bed on Easter Sunday, we can't. Preparations has to be made for next week, packages that have to be sent out and a lot of other stuff that we're not going to bore you with at the moment.

Easter Wishes
We really hope you all had a great Easter weekend and we thank each and every one of you for the wonderful Easter wishes you've given us. We really do appreciate all the love and support you guys keep showing us. That's why we want to stay in touch with you and that's why we write these blogs so that you feel that you are a part of all of this. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 36

Easter Weekend

Well, Easter is here and now it's time to eat a lot of candy. That's what Easter has pretty much become just sitting around eating a bunch of crap. It's not like Christmas when there's a certain mood to it and you get presents and stuff like that. Nooo Easter is just about getting a big egg filled with candy and then gulp down all of it in a day or two. It's disgusting…and that's why we all do it, and then we all feel really bad cause we think we gained 10 pounds. Oh well, don't we just love Easter?!

Adventure In The Forest
Richard Darell spent the day relaxing…sort of. He went dirt biking with some friends. Although he got stuck in the forest cause he ran out of gas and his friends thought it was funny to leave him all buy himself there to wait for them to come back with more gas, and it was getting dark…he loved every minute of it! LOL

Family Time
Sandra spent some much needed time with her family. They ate together and just chilled at her parents house, played cards, stuffed their faces with candy, watched some TV, painted eggs and ate some more.

Probably not so different from what everybody else's is doing on Easter. Sometimes you just need to not do anything at all right? Unfortunately the music business never sleeps or takes time off, so the show must go on…

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 35

Good Friday
As you all know today is Good Friday, the day that Jesus was crucified about 2000 years ago! Did you guys see the movie "The Passion Of Christ"? It's a pretty powerful movie I might say, even though you may not believe this whole thing about Jesus and God and the crucifixion, you can't help but be moved in some way when you have watched that movie! I think it is a very beautiful thing to believe that Jesus actually died on the cross for our sins so that we would have eternal life in heaven.

Believing in a higher power definitely brings you hope in life and I believe that we all have a purpose to fulfill. No matter who you are or what you believe in you have to know that you were not born for nothing, you do have a purpose in this world and whatever you wanna achieve you can achieve!!

Don't be afraid, aim high!

Video Footage
Yesterday we had a video shoot of an acoustic performance with Sandra Lavide and Richard Darell. With the great guitar player Mathias Venge they both had outstanding performances! You will all get to see it as soon as the video is done and posted on our site. There will also be some behind the seen footage, wich is always fun to be apart of, to see what is really going on and get to know the artists a little better so you can see how goofy and nerdy they really are….LOL Just Kiddin'!!

Today was spent going through a lot of the footage that was made yesterday because now the editing starts. Sandra Lavide and Richard Darell got to see bits of it so that they can have an opinion of how they would want it to be edited. We here at Spinlane are very passionate about our artists and we do not wanna underestimate their creative minds by keeping them out of the creative decisions that has to be made. We believe that talented artists know how they wanna be portrayed and know what looks good. That's why we want them to be involved in every aspect of our decisions when it comes to their careers.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 34

The Day Of The Shoot
Yes! The day finally arrived for our live video shoot at this awesome set. This time around we wanted to make sure everything was perfect and taken care of.

We met up with Mathias Venge at the set of the video shoot. Though it was all acoustic it wasn't that much gear to carry but we all pitched in. The life as an artist not only to be this "Persona" it's also about being humble towards whatever comes up.

Cameras were carefully placed around the set to make sure we had every corner covered and to get as much "video material" to work with as possible. Before continuing we want to send out a deepest appreciation to the engineer, Philip Briland, for his help today. Thanks a million.

Again Richard Darell was to perform first. Richard Darell and Mathias Venge took the stage both with guitars. Everything went smooth and controlled. They made an unforgettable performance of "So Blind" which you will see when the video is finished.

After a short break changing tapes and re-arranging the set a little, Sandra stepped up for her performance, Mathias Venge yet again on guitar. Sandra performed her new song "Just Like This" which from the start is a smash but even so when played live. Just stunning!

Everything went smooth besides a few bumps which will be shown on the behind the scenes video coming up soon. We started to gather our things and made the set look as if we had never been there.

The long awaited shoot was finally a wrap and we all went back to our daily activities. All with a good smile on our faces and with anticipation hanging in the air of how it all will turn out on screen.

What's In The Box
As we got back to the office we had a package waiting for us. April Divine had sent us their promo kit and we'll be posting exactly what it contains of in our next blog. Why not now…? Well, we didn't have time to pick it up at the postal office and with a holiday coming up we won't be able to get it before Monday. So, you just have to wait.

Believe us, we're as curious as you guys are and we can't wait to listen to the album and make a few notes here on our blog about it. But we are sure we'll be amazed by their performance.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 33

No Guided Performance
Sandra Lavide went in to the studio today to make her preparations and to rehears the song she is to use for the Video shoot tomorrow. The song she is to use is a newly written song. It's nothing short of a super smash and we'll premiere it here for all of you as soon as the video is done edited and composed.

The rehearsals went great and Sandra is set for the fun feat of performing her new song live in front of the cameras on Thursday.

Richard Darell and Sandra Lavide will be accompanied by Mathias Venge on stage. Mathias has been a vital part of the process of writing/producing Richard Darell's and Sandra Lavide's up-coming albums. He's a multitalented musician/writer and producer that never stop to impress.

Fun Gadgets
HAHA. We just came across the coolest gadget ever. The "Lifepop Beat Generation Groove Master Stereo Bag". So many different styles to choose from! We just have to get one…lol!

Anyway, over here at Spinlane we never stop looking for the best.

A Closer Look
We have been looking at this new band, April Devine. We met them not too long ago to see what they were all about. Let me say that they really kick ---. We are awaiting their album to see if we can help them get their stuff out somehow.

We will be reporting more about all this as we have more information but for now you just have to take our word for it. Their album is greatly anticipated by us!

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 32

Honest Exposure
The buzz is blinding to everyone that dares to see it. As everyone is talking about "Radical Transparency", the new way of gaining peoples immortalized respect. By "Opening Up" your every day activities you hopefully stand a chance of improvised success.

This is just partially true in our opinion. This is a make or break you theory, really! Look at it this way… Let's say you have your provoking dream and want people to be a part of the utilization. Well, then you always will have lovers and haters, right?

So, what you have is a segregated base of people wanting to express their own take on things. All this is great but opening up your agenda to millions of people will make or break you. The control is just partly in your own hands. And you know what…it's just how we want it to be!!

So, be sure we're always going to throw ourselves out there to gather YOUR take on it!  So go ahead and comment, message, listen and look. Make yourself heard! We want you to!

Video And Trip Preparations
During the afternoon Richard Darell went in to the studio to prepare and rehears the song to be used in Thursday's live video shoot. He also came up with some nice beats for our group Cypher that will be exposed later next week.

Sandra Lavide is preparing for her trip to Los Angeles, California. She's hooking up sessions with some of the industries hottest writers and producers and it won't be long now till we can publish the entire list of people she is to work with for a week.

Pablo Moraga To Record
Pablo Moraga, a member of our group Cypher is set to record his vocals on their first song on Tuesday next week. He finally got well and is getting prepared for his performance on the song.

A Typical Day At Spinlane - Episode 31

Helping Out
Monday and we're back at the office. Today we need to help out some friends of ours in a city called Orebro. Sandra Lavide went to Orebro last week to record some songs for an upcoming children's show where Sandra's voice is to be used. Sandra recorded four short songs that day.

When the producers/writers (RedFly Productions) sent it to their contractor in the US they wanted to do some changes in two of the songs. So, instead of Sandra having to go out there to record just a few lines we decided if was ok that we recorded the missing lines in Spinlane Studios in Stockholm, Sweden.

We were happy to help out and it only took about a couple of hours to nail the few lines in the two songs that were missing the new lines.

Entering The Charts
We got some unexpected news today. Both Sandra Lavide and Richard Darell had entered the MySpace charts for Sweden and this without even releasing their albums yet. How awesome is that!

Sandra Lavide's Positions Are:
Swedish – R&B – Top 100 – Position 1
Swedish – Funk – Top 100 – Position 1
Swedish – Pop – Top 100 – Position 49

Richard Darell's Positions Are:
Swedish – Alternative – Top 100 – Position 66
Swedish – Pop – Top 100 – Position 92
Swedish – Rock – Top 100 – Position 100

This is certainly great news and it looks really promising for both of their up-coming releases!
