I can't believe that it's been 15 years since that horrible day that I lost my beloved mother to the disease called Lupus. On this day, I lost that very essence that gave me life. I didn't quite know how this day was going to be. I thought that maybe I would fall into a funk today. I thought that maybe I would be sad all day long. But that wasn't the case today. I'm doing wonderful and it's wonderful to share happiness with my wife and my son. I do admit that I do think about my son and how he will never know his grandma...physical. But I don't let that get me down. He will know and love her. He will feel her spirit. He will be proud to be a Boykin. Today, tickets are available for the Lupus Benefit Concert "Poets Against Lupus." I picked this day in honor of my mother's life and her passing. We must all follow our purpose in life. We must all stand for something. I stand for love and that is why I'm a lupus activist. For those of you who can not make the concert, you can donate to the Lupus Foundation of American on www.firstgiving.com/spokenvizions, which is a secured site sponsored by the Lupus Foundation of America. Well, apparently she had a really bad day yesterday, so she reviewed her purchase and contacted me. She told me that she was having a really bad day, but after reading the greeting cards that she just purchase, she felt inspired and rejuvenated.
PoeticByDesign is a greeting card line created to inspire you, motivate you and encourage you in all that you do. Although we do intend to offer "regular" cards as well, our primary focus is to touch the souls of our customers the best way we can...through heartfelt, honest words and sentiments.
Now, about the promotion. Currently, if you go online, you can purchase all five cards that are available for only $12. As of today (08-20-2008) you can log on to www. poeticbydesign. com and purchase ANY single card, your name with be automatically placed into our internet raffle. For each card that you purchase, your name will be placed into the raffle again, which will give you a better chance of winning. If your name is pulled, you will WIN 5 cards of your choice, redeemable anytime before 02-28-2009. What's up everybody? Back in June, I had the great opportunity to record a song called "A Call To Oneness" along with some very talented EmCees in the Lou. I was honored to be among such talented and intellect artist...plus I was the only poet on the track. It was one of the them songs for a march held in St. Louis to stop the violence and senseless killings. It was a march of unification of the brothers. Greetings my friends. The time has come to update you on what’s happening at SpokenVizions.com. Well, we have updated several pages, including a brand new interview with poetry phenom Nikki Skies. Also, check out our segments "Who’s Hott?", "In The Scoop", "Artist of the Month" and our brand new segment "VIDEO SPOTLIGHTS." Since we at spokenvizions.com are all about promoting positive art and music, we felt the need to start spotlighting poetry videos, and underground soul & hip hop artists. Some of the videos are music videos and others are PSA’s or COMMERCIALS, but none the less, the message is present in the work. So check it out and let me know what you think of the concept. I hope that you will find it to be useful. I figure, since myspace and youtube are so hot, why not utilize their services just a little bit more if it’s gonna help keep people in "the know."
Also, we are looking for writers, editors, and sales representatives for the web site. We are averaging 25,000 hits a months and I think it’s time to take it to the next level. We are also considering bringing the hard copy version back, but only if I can get some dedicated people to help rebirth the vision.
