As Predicted...A Storm Blew Thru Cincinnati Last Night!
Current mood: accomplished

A storm blew thru Cincinnati last night! But instead of destruction...it left awakening and motivation in its path! ...

The night started out with some of Ohio's best...Last Black Man, L.I.F.E., Journey...The Lyricist...Idrissa...and Ty Stuckey...just to name a few. Shades of J performed a piece from our Shades of J CD and Co-Host Gifted spit! But then...the storm blew thru...

Y'all Redstorm is the truth! You can't label him just a poet...although there is a poetic charisma about him…nor can you call him just a motivational speaker…although after you've heard him and felt his moving spirit…you ARE motivated to go out and save souls! He is so much more…more than a physical existence can contain and Cincinnati had the pleasure of this phenomenal experience! Hmmm…yes Redstorm IS an experience – an encounter; and if you have never seen this brotha Live...you've got some living to do!

And...as always @ SpokenWordSoul...you neva neva know who's gonna show! We had local soul singer phenom...Seon Taylor! Seon has recently signed a recording deal and this may have been the last time we get to see him for free! The brotha's got that old soul spirit and brings it like Teddy used to...Like Bobby Womack...just dammit gritty and full of soul! We were also privileged to have HBO Def Poet Tommy Bottoms in da house! My first time to see him live and he is FIRE! We will have him back as a feature in 2008...so stay tuned.

NAM! Stopped by SpokenWordSoul Thursdays last night...unexpectedly... and he IS THE TRUTH! I've seen and heard so many who claim to be the Shit... Well this Brotha Walks his Talk and has such a beautiful vibe about him...


He has a no quittin...no limit spirit...Ladies & Gentlemen...BELIEVE the HYPE It is most deserved and then some...NAM Truly Walks The Talk! If you don't know...you betta find out :-)

You Neva Know Whose Gonna Show! Did you miss it again?!

First, I have to say this was one of the top 3 feature nights SpokenWordSoul Thursdays has had to date!..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

We kicked it off with some of Cincy's finest poets, ElAment, Remedy, Kisshiyah, and Reid. All Young, Gifted, & Real!

Next we were blessed to have singer/songwriter/keyboardist, Jameze! He's putting the finishing touches on his second CD and sang one of my favorite pieces…"Adam". This song is about what Adam would have said when he first laid eyes on Eve…beautiful piece! He's on Myspace…so support this brotha! MySpace.com/Jameze1 CheckItOut

Then the surprise of the night was ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cincinnati's own…Robert Hatcher (American Idol, and most recently…finalist of America's Got Talent). This brotha definitely 'Got Talent' and he ate up a Jill Scott song and it was evident why he was a finalist of America's Got Talent…should have won the damn thang…but God has bigger and better thangs in store…he is one of the nicest, most sincerest and grounded brothas I've met!

Which leads me to our feature…

SANDBLOOM!

Sandbloom which consists of guitarist/singer/songwriter, Kevin Sandbloom, and his partner, percussionist/singer Melany Bell, are the epitome of Acoustic Soul!

Kevin is unassuming…and will catch you completely off guard when he opens his mouth to deliver his acoustic soulful, bluesy style…much like Al Green, mixed with Marvin Gaye, with a pinch of Stevie Wonder and then slides some Sly Stone up in it!  This brotha has a vocal range from the bottom to the heavens and his rendition of Sade's, "Is it a Crime" had the crowd up on their feet…and if anybody knows a Cincinnati crowd,  you damn near gotta do back flips to get 'em up like that!

Let's not forget Miss Melany! This sista has the vibe of an old soulful singer with the depth and richness of Cassandra Wilson and she complements her partner so sweetly…their voices just melt into each other…Oh…and did  I mention she plays percussion? Oh no…not your typical conga player – she came wit it Sheila E style and sang…OK? That takes some serious coordination – ya heard? LOL

Anyway this was a not to miss evening and some of y'all keep missing it! You are sleepin on all of this undiscovered talent…it's up to us to bring them to the light that they so much deserve! If we demand excellence in our music we're gonna get it! But once we demand it…we gotta support – ahhite?

Having said that…SANDBLOOM is going to be in Cleveland tonight @ The Acoustic Garden run by NeoSouljah so if you missed him here and you missed him in Columbus…you betta go to Cleveland…if you have to drive 4 hours…it will be well worth it! If you've seen him already…then you already know once is NOT enough!

....just like I told y'all! Vibrant & Vivacious! This sista performed...ya heard?! Not only does she lay out a poem, but she has a unique gift of painting her poetry and framing it in such a beautiful and entertaining way...and did I mention she was an entrepreneur AND and author? Fellas I know you...eh-hem...appreciated her physical beauty...but the sista's got good spirit and you can't buy that!

This feature will feature an unprecedented fusion of entertainment by DJ King James of the VIBE, live vocal rendentions and enlightened performances by regional artist and participants of the LIST (Listen I Speak Truth) artist development program.
