ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE 4 - EARTH AIR 1 , starcruiser_nov-

When an air breathing species begins to die off from the air itself, its past time to take notice.                                                                          Nature has been giveing warnings,one of the ways from air pollution is through  lichens .   Lichens are rootless organisms that can collect their nutrition from the air rather than from the soil.    Thet also scoop up airborne contaminants that are  available  even if it kills many  of their species, which make them  good indicators of   atmospheric  pollutions .                                                                       Even  though the condition of  earths air  has become so bad  some species are already extinct,  other species of lichens   may survive on contaminated  and polluted air much longer than humans can.   There are many of these tiny sentries, more than  20,000  species have been identified on earth,  in a large variety of  shapes and colors ,  some cling to rocks,  others form leafy clusters on tree bark,  some look like minute shrubs - still  others like  'evernia'  and   'usnea  trichodea'   ( old mans beard )   trail in yards -long  strings from tree boughs.  they may play a more important part in nature than  past thought,-You can see them, they can be found almost anywhere and everywhere, they are a form of life, they  cling to trees in surburban backyards.  they often spread a  gray-green  crust on urban stone monuments ,  spill down  costal cliffs ,   in the most arid deserts ,  even  grow under the  Antartics cap of snow  and ice .                          Lichens  seem to have been an almost ultimate survivor, some  on earth are  over  4  thousand  years old .  Not all lichens are equally sensitive to the same pollutants , ' sulfur dioxide' seems to be one of the most common offenders and has already  wiped some species out of existance ,  sickens others, and hardly even fazes others.         One European  species , the  gray crusty  'Lecanora ' Conizaeoides'  seems to actually thrive in grimy industrail areas.                                The  Lecanora seen today may be a relatively  recent mutant,  likely filling an  ecological  niche  created by the  industrail   revolution .      These air breathing species have been vanishing  all over the world ,and have been for some time  from air pollution.   several  countries ,mostly through the burning of oil and coal  alone  are emitting  3 to 7  billion metric tons  into the  atmosphere  per year ,    The mixture of so many various air pollutants  in the atmospheric soupbowl,  will cause  more dangerous  future results than some scientists think,  some air pollutants when mixed with another, makes both worse  (or a new one) - .  The total world metric tons of all air pollutants is so fantastic, you proably would not belive it,  unless  more people become concerned,   about the environment, .the futures children will belive it.-.  The air belongs to everyone, to every liveing creature on earth.           I will end this blog with a voice  calling to you from the past .....         -       The  earth does not belong  to only man ,  man belongs to the earth , all  things are connected,   all peoples,  like the blood which unites family since the first,  whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth,  man did not create the web of life, he is mearly a strand in it, whatever he does to the web , he does to himself..                                ----    some of the meaning ---  contaminate your own bed and you will one night suffocate  in your own waste.       -                                                                                                                                    starcruiser-nov    _           .

Power of the vote - Environment issue 3 - starcruiser-nov

Another way you can help save your futures environment is the vote,listen to whats being said-if you live in a part of the world that has a vote process,if not- or you cant vote,there are still ways you can help.It is simple to register to vote,call your post office ,court house,or ask about anyone,they should tell you how.-If the environment is destroyed, the economy and such matters will no longer matter-.-You have proably heard it said, what difference will my one vote make,sometimes-it can make a lot of difference,for instance-It may have been 1 vote that gave Oliver Cromwell control of England in 1656 -  1 vote that gave America the English language instead of the German language in 1776 -  1 vote that changed France from a monarchy into a Republic in 1875 - 1 vote that gave the Presidency of the United States to Rutherford B. Hayes in 1876 ,and one vote that gave Adolf Hitler the leadership of Germany in 1923.--If you have the power of a vote, why not use it.--,There may be movements in some parts of the world to even take away your rights of Religion , your Rights are important, if you lose such Rights, soon it will be another ,and another, untill you find you have  no rights,or even the right to Be.--Some vote either Democrat or Republican, having no idea what the politicians are really saying [think about it]----[ its sad, but greed seems to be involved sometimes,with the vote process]---Your rights and Freedoms ,are a part of your life-There may come a day when you find yourself with a chip-etc- on your person, then inside you,so your every move can and will be tracked,No more privacy ,You will be under control-No life of your own anymore . your Freedoms will be gone- then soon after your freedom of thought and opinion--[think about the bar codes used in many supermarket check out lanes]---.--- carefull and dont be tricked into voteing to lose your Rights [or against yourself]-.  and dont underestimate the power of 1 vote, perhaps your vote.-                  starcruiser-nov                  .

Earths Environmental issue 2 - ...starcruiser-nov --- -trees-....

There have been fires on the earths surface that could even be seen from space,that along with several other factors has been and is destroying the planets environment. At one past point there were aprox- 3000 of these fires, some as large as 8 to 10 miles in diameter. These fires have been called a part of mans attempt at modern progress. But that is in fact destroying the tropical belt surrounding the planet.              Rainforests have past  been destroyed  at a rate of 30 to 55 acres per minute -.And with that next acre of rainforest the cure for cancer,aids or some other or  future problem may be destroyed along with it, considering ,many if not most modern day medicines are  in fact  based on or derived from herbs. .  Trees are being destroyed all over the world,much faster than they can grow back, from small cuttings to large.                           In America alone since the first Europeans  arrived in the new world, between 80 to 96 percent or more  of the original virgin forests have been cut down. Some of these trees were as old as 1000 years.-this type of trees loss is apparantly happening everywhere.- In some instances attempts at re-planting are made,in various places over the planet,or sometimes a  half hearted attempt is made at replanting, but the species are not always the same,in some areas aprox - 235 species of various  trees have been found in less than a 3 acre tract, and new forests often lack the variety some animals and other life need to survive, which will eventually cause the extinction of several more species of life, including some  bird species,for instance,about one-third  of migratory birds that breed in north america,etc -, winter in the tropics,and about all  birds need the trees to survive,as with several other species of life...  Also where any large scale effort is made at replanting plans are apparantly already in the drawer to cut it down also..                                             So much tree destruction added with natural disater, which destroy many trees also, together with very large numbers of small tracts of trees,-[in which no accurate records are kept]- for instance trees in many areas are being cut down -  for just a few yards of extra space, often for what in the long run ends up being just a small financial gain, Or at times for no apparant reasons at all.----Just since 1930 about one fourth to one half of the forests on the planet have been cut down.-Since the 2nd world war about half or more of the rainforests in the tropical belt that is supposed to surround planet earth,have been destroyed, some of these species of trees,cannot be replaced on earth,at this time..- These lost trees were oxygenating this planet.--[think about it]what if trees also absorb,or clean pollution from the atmosphere]-Trees have many very important reasons for being ,including ,respiration processes of trees return about one-half of the rainfall that falls on them,returns to the air to fall again and again..-The widespread burning and loss of trees has added to the ozone, global warming and or green house effect problems,causing some adverse weather problems,and is a factor that may help in  pushing the planets grain[food] belt slowly northward.. ..                   Aprox- one million and 500,000 various species of life have been identified on earth,that may sound like a lot-but less than 100 years ago there were closer to 2 million aprox-.What might suprise you is there were aprox-one fourth to three quarters of a million,that man had not yet noticed,most of which have been hidden,or have lived in little unexplored places such as rainforests,etc- but before science has been able to find them-their gone- destroyed with the one acre of tropical forests,etc-, that has past been dissappearing at some past rates of nearly 4 million acres a year,or more, with some of these acres have went several various species of life.In some areas about 2,000 various species of life can be found on a single tree,if one were to look very closely .                                       Time after time species once thought to be usless  have proven to be essential to the ecological systems that support man.-- [ There have never been a usless species of life on earth]--The natural systems that support life on earth are being destroyed, - the reason appears to be greed.-Wood tree products is very big buisness,in fact its billions upon billions of dollars in big buisness,trees are used for many things other than just lumber and paper-[check out cellulose for one example]- almost everyone uses end products and or spin off products  from trees,many things that most will think they  cant do without,some of which are poisoning the land ,air and water,- its sad to think that much of earths  environment is being thrown in the trash and ending up as pollution in landfills,etc,--Many people will say ,but we need trees, and thats a fact- so whats the future going to do without them-.As far back as 1916, what i would call a warning, was issued by dept of agriculture.saying there are not enough trees to last to the end of the next century giving the enormous appetite for housing,paper,building and materials.- In 1987 it was announced the need to double the timber harvests by the year 2030, but a spokesperson for the forest products industry said that still may not be enough-.----------people,unless you all join hands,and say - hey,wait a minute,lets think about this,let us check this out... It wont be long-The economy and other interests wont matter anymore, life cannot exist on earth without an environment.,,Environmentally safe,Alternatives to so much tree and environmental destruction must be used and or others found- some are known and not used, the reasons is likely greed--.[I would like to express,one can buy land and say its mine-but in truth,you have bought the right to hold it in trust for the next generation].During just the past 20 to 25 years,at some points,this planet has lost species of life at the fantastic rate of 1 plant species per week, and 1 animal or insect species every 8 to 10 days,-gone,-extinct,perhaps forever, miracles of life ,destroyed...The ecological systems that support humans are being destroyed,-[the environment]- the natural systems that supports life on earth are being destroyed. - [i belive the biggest reason is greed.]..This,and next comeing generation[s],will have to decide, or,before long ,it could be the end of liveing,and the begining of survival..-------....------------environment 2 - starcruiser-nov---------...  ..- -search mode-earths environment,please read future blog posts..------------------comments welcome under blog posts, but no graphics ,please, thankyou

While searching planet environmental problems,i found the following request-and decided to began these blogs by repeating it for them.If their plea was heard-it was either not harsh enough or  ignored,considering environmental destruction since they begged for help.Perhaps someone will hear them afterall-but how many will understand,remains to be seen.It seems many people tend to live for today and dont really worry about the next day or the next,or the next few generations,often this is done with liveing a busy day to day life without meaning to ignore their children,grandchildren,future children and their generations.Life is wherever you find it,the numbers are so fantastic that most would not belive.All known life must have an environment,very often extremely different-but an environment to survive.This is for them and you..- - [ The United Nations hosted the 3rd annual 'global youth forum on the environment'in New York on june 3 and 4th 1991.The forum sponsored 'The United Nations Environmental Programme'brought togather young citizens from all over the world to share ideas on how to end pollution.The young people talked about specific areas of interests,such as air pollution,rainforests and recycling. The children made recommendations for action and wrote statements,which were incorporated into a resolution. The resolution was presented to world leaders gathered at the 1992 united nations conference on environment and development.The following is part of the resolution-[ 'Where previous generations feared war or disease,We fear extenction..'Will there be rainforests around in 20 years ? will there be clean water to drink ? Will there be a world left to live in ? 'Above all we are afraid of not being heard'.]..Folks this planets environmental problems are more serious than you may think,if mankind continues to destroy his environment,how will his future family survive...Please read future blogs,they are for everyone,they are for you and yours.           starcruiser-nov
