WHY I AM VEGAN
Current mood: determined

If only most people knew the horrible lives the majority of animals "live" living if you can call it that... we think we have bad days.. nonhuman animals have had more torture, neglect abuse, and murder done to them as a race since the dawn of time human being wear their skins, eat their flesh force them into entertainment and do outrageous testing on them worse than any horror movie you will ever see. Most of us are unaware of this and even worse that we are contributing to all this you may not be the human slicing the cows neck at a slaughter house or the "scientist" drilling a hole into a monkey's head or the circus ringmaster whipping the elephant but perhaps you are the one eating a steak at diner buying the product tested on the monkey and going to see the circus thankfully it's 2008 and most of us live in a modern city where there is SO SO Many ways to eat Delicious fulfilling food and be even healthier, and wear gorgeous clothes as well as have fun all without harming any non human animals or at least less harm Animal cruelty is very sad and difficult to face but we must work past that and turn our compassion into courage by CHOOSING what we eat, wear and do. make a difference by being some one who cares enough to help make this world a better place. Human beings have so much power on this planet be one of the humans that uses that power wisely The following are ways and info on how you can SPREAD THE WORD! ps i am a vegan for moral and ethical reasons it's just an added plus that it is the healthiest diet to have. There are healthy and unhealthy vegans. But doctors agree that vegans who eat a varied low-fat diet stand a much better chance of living longer, healthier lives than their meat-eating counterparts.Fortified soy milk offers calcium, vitamins A, B, and D, iron, zinc, and protein but contains not a speck of cholesterol.Grains and Legumes Whole grains are an excellent source of fiber, protein, B vitamins, and zinc.Vegan sources of zinc include legumes, nuts, corn, peas, cashews, peanuts, peanut butter, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds; cereals are often fortified with zinc. Protein increases zinc absorption. Because of this, foods high in protein and zinc, such as legumes and nuts, are good choices. The leavening of bread and fermenting of soyfoods (tempeh and miso) also enhances zinc absorption.Spinach has zinc, iron and calcium in higher quantities than almost all meats.
ample zinc is gotten from a balanced Vegan diet the only thing Vegans have issues with generally is B12 and there is a vegan suppliment of that.
This essential vitamin once occurred naturally on the surfaces of potatoes, beets, and other root vegetables, but the move away from natural fertilizers has caused it to disappear from our soil. Nutritionists recommend that vegans take a commercially available multivitamin or vitamin B12 supplement or eat foods that are fortified with vitamin B12, such as many breakfast cereals, fortified orange juice or soy milk, or nutritional yeast. We can get all the nutrients we need from plant sources, which means that billions of animals are unnecessarily slaughtered every year at the expense of our health and the environment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Canada's Seal Slaughter How Many Seals Are Killed Annually?
In 2005, the government quota for the number of seals who could be killed was 320,000, and in 2006, it was raised by 5,000 because of government reports that the seal population is "flourishing." However, scientists argue that the Canadian government failed to take into account changes in the environment, like food availability, toxins, and global warming (which may adversely affect the populations of harp seals, because they give birth on ice floes) when setting "sustainable" hunting quotas. Are Baby Seals Still Being Killed?
It is legal to kill seal pups when they are about 12 days old, or as soon as they have molted their white natal fur. During last year's hunt, almost all the seals killed were 3 months old or younger. Many had not learned how to swim or eaten their first solid meal. They are helpless and have no escape from their violent end. How Are the Seals Killed?
Sealers bludgeon seals with clubs and "hakapiks" (clubs with a metal hook on the end), drag conscious seals across the ice floes with boat hooks, and toss dead and dying animals into heaps and leave their carcasses to rot because there is no market for their meat. Seals are also shot, but bludgeoning is preferred, because pelt buyers deduct money for every bullet hole in a seal's skin. Veterinarians who studied a past hunt concluded that the hunters failed to comply with Canada's basic animal welfare standards and that 42 percent of the seals appeared to have been skinned alive.
Read an eyewitness account from last year's hunt. Rebecca Aldworth, a native Newfoundlander, who for years has worked to stop the seal slaughter, described this scene during last year's hunt:
"A movement catches my eye, and I realize with horror that a clubbed baby seal is still conscious. She is writhing around on the ice in pain, moving her flippers. She lies next to another seal who has been killed, vacant eyes staring up, blood already frozen in the ice under her mouth. It is a macabre scene—the dead and the dying huddled together here in the rain."
Aldworth says that the seal "is trying to crawl and making anguished sounds. … She is trying so hard to live, and I know there is no hope for her. She has her eyes tightly shut, as if to keep out the sight of the dead seals around her." Do Harp Seals Contribute to the Depletion of Cod Populations?
The scientific community has concluded that the cause of the depletion of fish stocks off Canada's East Coast is human over-fishing. Blaming seals for disappearing fish is a convenient way for the fishing industry to divert attention from its irresponsible and environmentally destructive practices. Harp seals, who are the primary target of the hunt, eat many different species-—only 3 percent of a harp seal's diet is commercially fished cod—and they also eat many cod predators. Is the Seal Hunt Necessary for Canada's Economy?
The Canadian fishing industry is propped up by millions of dollars in subsidies every year. Local fishers make one-twentieth of their income from seal hunting and the rest from commercial fisheries. Even in Newfoundland, where 90 percent of sealers live, revenues from the hunt account for less than 1 percent of the province's economy. Nor is sealing a livelihood for native tribes; most sealers are commercial fishers who use large boats to break through the ice to reach the baby seals.
International boycotts in response to the slaughter further weaken the "economic" argument. Italy and Greenland recently banned imports of seal pelts, and more than 400 restaurants and companies have pledged to boycott some or all Canadian seafood until the seal hunt is ended. You Can Help

Boycott all fur. As long as there is a demand for fur-trimmed jackets, fur boots, and fur coats, seals will continue to be beaten bloody on the ice.
DIFFERENT YET THE SAME ------------------------------ Will future generations look back at ours with the same shame and horror we feel when we read about ships crammed with slaves or about the forced winter march of American Indians away from their homelands? An objective look reveals that our generation still operates in the same way. The only difference is that yesterday's victimsused and abused because they were "different" and powerlessare now of other species. Hindsight is 20/20. Most people today view slavery, child labor, and the oppression of women as wrong, but this change only came about because thoughtful people called for justice and fought oppression, even at great personal risk.
Cruel actions that would cause a public outcry todaysuch as the use of children who had mental disabilities at New York's Willowbrook State Hospital in 1960s hepatitis experimentsare no longer tolerated because we accept that harming other humans simply because they are defenseless is reprehensible. Traveling circuses rarely display physically deformed men and women as "sideshow freaks" to be gawked at and ridiculed anymore because we now know that individuals deserve respect and consideration no matter how they measure up to the norm. Yet intelligent, social animals are still used in experiments, circus acts, and other abominations.
Today billions of animals are slaughtered, experimented on, shot, poisoned, beaten by "professional trainers," chained, drowned, and dissected. This happens routinely despite our ability to choose alternatives and even though scientific proof and common sense show that animals have the ability to think and to feel pain, love, joy, terror, and other emotions. It happens because animals, with their communication, appearance, and interests that, on the surface, may seem so different from ours, are powerless to stop us.
Just as it was always wrong to oppress and abuse less powerful humans, it is wrong to abuse and oppress animals. Because today's victims of tyranny are unable to defend themselves, it is vital that people of principle speak out for them.
Animals' lives are as important to them as ours are to us. We must stand up for them, just as good people from other eras spoke out and even risked their own lives in order to defend women, children, African- and Native Americans, and other oppressed groups.Animals are feeling, thinking beings who deserve the basic right of consideration of their interests regardless of their usefulness to us. They are individuals who should be respected and left in peace or protected. SOLD OFF ------------ As recently as the 1860s, some human beings were considered property by law. Slaves were taken to auctions naked and in chains, and prospective slave owners would prod slaves' bellies, pull back their lips to inspect their teeth, or even taste their sweat to determine their suitability for hard labor. The laws of the country stated that children of slaves were property of the slave owners, and because slaves were valuable, this led to the breeding of children for sale into slavery. The institution of slavery had no respect for parental bonds, and babies were regularly torn from their mothers and fathers. The illustration in the "Sold Off" panel is from Slavery and the Slave Trade: A Short Illustrated History by James Walvin.
Today, we tear baby cows and pigs away from their mothers and take them to livestock auctions, where the confused and terrified babies are forced onto trucks and kicked and beaten so that they will move faster. Animals who are too young or sick to stand may be beaten, shocked with electric prods, and dragged by their ears or legs. When they leave the auction ring, they are loaded onto the buyer's truck and usually taken to slaughter SLAVERY ------------ Africans captured and forced into slavery were often compared to animals so as to somehow justify their treatment. They were called "brutes" and "beasts" because of the color of their skin. Their lives were considered expendable, and many died at the hands of their oppressors. The same oppressive mentality behind those actions leads to the slaughter of animals today. Beatings, lynchings, burnings: These cruel acts happen today just as in the past, only the victims have changed. Cattle and horses are branded with hot irons to mark them as property; elephants used in circuses are captured from their homelands, then beaten with metal "bullhooks" and baseball bats. Cows, chickens, and pigs are strung upside-down before their throats are slit. Many animals are beaten, kicked, and spat upon by farm and slaughterhouse workers who view them as objects of scorn, not as frightened individuals.
FORCED LABOUR ------------------- Decades ago, young children were used in factories, mills, and farms and were subjected to cruel experiments because they were easy to control and could not defend themselves against abuse. Animals are used and abused for the same reasonsbecause they are powerless.
Children used as workers were often pushed to the breaking point, with little time to rest or eat. Many became crippled or were killed in machinery accidents, and most suffered injuries or health problems from performing the same motions day after day in extreme conditions. Today animals used as laborers, such as horses pulling carriages full of people and pack animals hauling heavy carts, are worked long hours, sometimes until they collapse, while their injuries often go untreated. Their needs to socialize, rest, and run free are ignored. Today infant animals are stolen away from their loving parents, who would otherwise care for and nurture them for many years, just as human parents do. Young great apes are forced to "act" and are used to elicit cheap laughs for TV, movie, and circus audiences. When they become too strong and uncooperative at about age 8, they are typically sold off to dismal roadside zoos to live the rest of their lives in loneliness and squalor.
HANGING ----------- The lynching shown in the "Hanging" panel took place in 1930 in the public square of Ku Klux Klan-dominated Marion, Indiana. A mob of more than 10,000, armed with ax handles, crowbars, and firearms, attacked the Grant County Courthouse and dragged Thomas Shipp and Abe Smith from their cells. The two were kicked, beaten, and stoned to death prior to being hung from a tree. Members of the mob tore off pieces of the dead men's clothing for souvenirs, and in the days afterward, thousands of copies of this picture were sold for 50 cents each as souvenirs. More than a century after human rights defenders demanded an end to lynching, the U.S. Senate apologized in 2005 for decades of blocking efforts to make it a federal crime.
While the federal Humane Slaughter Act stipulates that cows should be stunned by a mechanical blow to the head and rendered unconscious before they are strung up, the high speed of assembly lines that often process up to 400 cows per hour frequently results in improper stunning. Every year, 35.7 million cows are stunned, hung upside-down, bled to death, dismembered, and skinned. Millions of these cows, each year, are still conscious as they are shackled and hoisted upside-down and are kicking and crying out in terror as they are skinned and dismembered. The photograph featured on the "Hanging" panel was taken at Johnson Slaughterhouse in 1989
BEATEN --------------- In 1963, civil rights demonstrators were protesting segregation all over the South. Memphis Norman, an African-American student, participated in a peaceful sit-in at a whites-only lunch counter in Jackson, Mississippi, that year. Memphis and his fellow protestors endured three hours of abuse, including being kicked and beaten with brass knuckles and broken glass ashtrays. In this picture, a retired police officer named Benny Olivera man who was once a defender of the lawkicks Norman as the mob cheers him on. Segregation as an institution came to an end thanks to the courage and conviction of men and women such as Norman, who were willing to put themselves on the line in a fight for justice and equality.
Every year, the Canadian government sanctions and assists in the largest mass slaughter of marine mammals in the world; Canadian sealers slaughtered more than 320,000 seals in March and April 2005. Hunters bludgeon the defenseless, weeks-old seals with hakapiks, which are crude rods with a metal hammer and hook on the end, or shoot them point blank. Most of these pups are too young to know how to swim away. Many seals are still conscious and struggling when their skins are cut from their bodies as their desperate mothers look ..lessly
EXPIEREMENTED ON ------------------------- American men living around Tuskegee, Alabama, many of whom were poor and illiterate sharecroppers who were not made aware of the study's true purposes. The study was devised to learn more about syphilis and possible treatment options, but when it became known that penicillin effectively treated the disease, the Tuskegee scientists withheld penicillin from their patients in order to continue to study how the disease spreads and kills individuals. This reprehensible study ended only after information about it was leaked to the media and people spoke out against it.
Like the subjects of the syphilis study, today's experimental animal subjects have no means of defending themselves. In this picture, a dog is being used in a medical school laboratory experiment. There isn't a single species of nonhuman animal that experimenters won't exploit. Mice, cats, zebra fish, chimpanzees, horses, pigs, etc., are forced to ingest toxic substances, subjected to maternal deprivation experiments, cloned, bred for their organs, addicted to drugs and alcohol, made to suffer strokes, blinded, burned, given diabetes and cancer, and infected with horrifying viruses such as the Ebola virus. Their suffering is even more tragic because physiological differences between species lead to different reactions and different treatment options, which makes animal experiments unreliable for the purpose of coming up with treatments for humans. Modern non-animal research and teaching methods are more accurate, less expensive, and less time-consuming than animal experiments, which is why more than 100 U.S. medical schools have ended dog labs in their medical programs. YOU MAY THINK ANIMALS ARE NOT LIKE US AND IN MANY WAYS THEY ARE NOT BUT THEY DO SHARE THE SIMILARITY OF HAVING FEELINGS, FORMING FRIEND, LOVE AND FAMILY BONDS AND WANTING TO LIVE A HAPPY HEALTHY LIBERATED LIFE.. AND JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS DIFFERENT DOES NOT GIVE US THE RIGHT TO HARM THEM IN ANY WAY.
WARNING GRAPHIC BUT A REALITY! PLEASE WAIT FOR VIDEO TO LOAD
IN THE YEAR 2005 WE HAVE SUCH A THING AS FAKE FUR AND LOTS OF IT THERE IS NOT ONLY NO NEED FOR THIS IT IS JUST EVIL AND SICK..

ALSO I LOVE LOVE LOVE PIGS..THEY ARE SO SWEET AND SMART
DID YOU KNOW : Newborn piglets learn to run to their mothers voices, and mother pigs sing to their young while nursing.Like dogs, piglets learn their names by 2 to 3 weeks of age and respond when called.
Pigs are actually very clean animals. If given sufficient space, pigs will be careful not to excrete near where they sleep or eat. Pigs dont sweat like pigs; they are actually unable to sweat. Pigs like to bathe in water or mud to keep cool.
Pigs have been known to save the lives of others, including their human friends. According to The Daily Telegraph, a pet piglet called Pru was praised by her owner after dragging her free from a muddy bog. The owner said, I was panicking when I was stuck in the bog. I did not know what to do and I think Pru sensed that. I had a rope with me that I use as a dog lead and I put it around her. I was shouting Go home, go home and she walked forward, slowly pulling me out of the mud.
AS AN OPTION HERE ARE SOME CRUELTY FREE ALTERNATIVES YOU CAN FIND AT RALPHS, TRADER JOES, MOST HEALTH FOOD STORES ;
THE TRUE LIFE HORROR STORY:about 1,000 pigs are killed every hour!! ----------------------------- Employees at Seaboard, North Americas third largest pork producer, were caught on video routinely throwing, beating, kicking, slamming against concrete floors, and bludgeoning animals with metal gate rods and hammers. Other pigs were left to die slow and agonizing deaths with severe injuries, illness, and lameness, often unable to reach food or water, without even a trace of veterinary care despite the fact that Pea was fully aware of their conditions.Because of improper stunning methods, many pigs are still alive when they are dumped into scalding-hot water, which is intended to remove their hair and soften their skin. When theyre killed, male pigs are still babies, only about 6 months old. Since their natural life span is 6 to 9 years, they never mature to enjoy a full life. On any given day in the United States, about 1,000 pigs are killed every hour.

EVERY MOMENT OF THE DAY EVERY YEAR SOMEWHERE ANIMALS ARE BEING "TESTED" ON. AS MANY AS 115 MILLION ANIMALS RANGING FROM MICE, RATS, DOGS, CATS, KITTENS, PUPPIES, BABY RABBITS, BABOONS, CHIMPS, COWS, FERRETS, BIRDS, FISH AND MORE ARE KILLED IN THE US ALONE EACH YEAR. MANY OF THESE ANIMALS ARE STOLEN FROM THEIR NATURAL HABITAT , FROM PEOPLE OR BOUGHT FROM POUNDS. SOME ARE BORN IN THE ANIMAL TESTING FACILITIES.
A BETTER NAME FOR THESE FACILITIES IS TORTURE DEATH CAMP. THESE ANIMALS ARE USUALLY KEPT INSIDE OVERCROWDED OR COMPLETELY ALONE. EITHER WAY THEY ALL FEEL FEAR, IMMENSE PAIN, ABUSE , INSANITY AND EVENTUALLY THEY ARE MURDERED. THEY ARE PUT THROUGH ALL THIS ANGUISH FOR US, FOR OUR MAKE UP , FOR OUR CLEANING PRODUCTS, FOR OUR SUGAR FREE SWEETENERS AND SUPPOSEDLY FOR OUR CURE'S FROM DISEASES. A FEW OF THE TORTURES ANIMAL ENDURE ARE: -Monkeys and baboons died in fits of vomiting and diarrhea, a pigs heart was attached to the arteries in the pigs neck while researchers observed the heart swell to an abnormal size, and other animals retreated within themselves, lying still in their cages until put of their misery
- Deliberately inflicting chest wounds on 36 dogs in order to test fur re-growth based on diet Overfeeding 24 cats to obesity, then starving themuntil they lost 30 percent of their weight in order to study weight loss and liver disease Removing the right kidneys and damaging the left kidneys of 24 dogs to study kidney failure Surgically exposing the stomachs of 28 catsin order to observe the effects of fiber on their diets
-dogs left piled on a filthy paint-chipped floor after having chunks of muscle hacked from their thighs
- metal pipes into caged monkeys skulls to study the connection between stress and womens menstrual cycles
-experiments in which baboons eyes were cut out and the blood supply to their brains was cut off with clamps inserted into their eye sockets HERE ARE SOME MORE DOCUMNETED FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT SOURCES :
AN UPDATE ON THE SEAL:YOU HELPED MAKE CNN FEATURE THEM -GOOD WORK GUYS!!SEE YOUR VOICE DOES MATTER, HERE IS WHAT CNN POSTED IN THE NEWS THANK TO YOU!!!!!-TORONTO, Ontario (AP) -- The spring leg of Canada's seal hunt is set to begin at dawn Saturday by isolated Atlantic fishermen determined to maintain their way of life, as the government largely ignores pleas from protesters opposed to the slaughter.
Paul McCartney and his wife, Heather, said in a video message from London, England, on Friday that they were stunned that the Canadian government has turned a blind eye to all the protests, boycotts and appeals to end the spring leg of the hunt in Quebec and Newfoundland.
"We actually pleaded to the Canadian government to stop the seal hunt, but they have refused," Heather McCartney said. "We're devastated to learn that 325,000 of these harp seals, almost all of them defenseless babies, will be clubbed and shot to death."
The former Beatle and his wife took to the ice floes off the Atlantic Ocean earlier this month to frolic with seal pups and highlight the work of anti-seal hunt efforts by the Humane Society and other animal protection groups.
The government insists the country's seal population is thriving, at nearly 6 million, and the annual hunt supplements the incomes of the isolated fishing communities in Quebec and Newfoundland.
But animal-rights activists and celebrities, including Brigitte Bardot, have placed Canada under an unpopular global spotlight, calling the world's largest seal hunt barbaric and unnecessary in a developed nation.
Registered hunters are not allowed to kill the pups before they molt their downy white fur, typically when they're 10 days to three weeks old.
The McCartneys said Canada should consider a license buyback program to compensate sealers while ending a hunt that is facing mounting international condemnation.
"This is a win-win solution," Paul McCartney said. "Fishermen would be compensated for any lost revenue when the hunt is closed and Canada would have a graceful way to put an end to a cruel and needless practice."
Prime Minister Stephen Harper dismissed the suggestion.
"Unfortunately, we're to some degree the victim of a bit of an international propaganda campaign," Harper said.
"We believe the country is acting responsibly, and we'll make sure all rules are enforced."
The United States banned Canadian seals products in 1972, and a ban on importing the white pelts of seal pups was implemented by the European Community in 1983.
The quota for the hunt in the Gulf of St. Lawrence is 91,000 harp seals. When the hunt moves to Newfoundland in April, up to 325,000 seals could be killed this year.
About 320,000 seals pups were killed last year, bringing the local fishermen $14.5 million (12.1 million euros).
PIT-BULLS THEY HAVE AN UNFAIR AND BAD REPUTATION AS BEING DANGEROUS DOGS
BUT ANYONE WHO ACTUALLY HAS SPENT TIME WITH ONE KNOWS THAT UNLESS TRAINED TO BE MEAN , THESE DOGS ARE TRULY BEAUTIFUL AND SWEET CREATURES
NOW COLORADO IS BANNING AND KILLING THEM EVEN IF THE DOG IS JUST A FRIENDLY FAMILY MEMBER AND INNOCENT OF VIOLENCE .. THE REAL PROBLEM IS THE DISGUSTING HUMAN'S WHO LACK ANY HUMANITY AND TRAIN THESE DOGS THROUGH BEATING THEM, STARVING THEM AND TORTURING THEM TO FIGHT EACH-OTHER.. "Small animals such as cats, kittens, puppies, and rabbits are often stolen from backyards to be used as training bait. They are hung up, then mauled to death. Spectators often prod dogs with sharp objects and hit them to force them to continue fighting. They are frequently made to fight until one of them dies. Undercover investigators who have infiltrated dog-fighting rings found blood-soaked dogs with life-threatening injuries left to die when no longer "game," and dogs with ripped ears, torn lips, genitals dangling from their bodies, eyes swollen shut, and faces so riddled with punctures that they were barely able to breathe. Dog-fighters or spectators often involve their children in dog-fighting. Research shows young children who view this type of violence have a greater acceptance of aggressive attitudes and behavior. They are taught to believe that violence is entertaining, that it is okay to inflict the cruelties they observe and that dog fighting is an acceptable form of recreation. "
THOSE BASTARDS SHOULD BE STOPPED IT TAKES A WEAK WEAK INDIVIDUAL TO FIGHT DOGS OR ANY OTHER ANIMALS FOR THAT MATTER..
ANIMALS WHO HAVE BEEN ABUSED DESERVE OUR PATIENCE AND LOVE NOT TO BE KILLED
I MYSELF HAVE NURTURED SEVERAL ANIMALS WHO WERE VOLATILE DUE TO BEING ABUSED BY A PREVIOUS PERSON AND AFTER TIME THEY BEGAN TO GIVE LOVE BACK
PLEASE WATCH THIS DOCUMENTARY ON HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS BREED OF DOGS REALLY ARE:
I NOMINATE YOU FOR BEING A WONDERFUL PARENT/ FRIEND TO A HOMELESS ANIMAL ALL OF YOU ARE SO AMAZINGLY KIND, CARING AND SMART. THERE ARE BILLIONS OF ANIMALS RIGHT NOW LIVING IN CAGES WHO ARE ALONE FOR THE MOST PART, SCARED, CONFUSED, NEGLECTED..
PLEASE THINK SERIOUSLY ABOUT ADOPTING ONE OR MORE YOU CAN ADOPT FROM YOUR LOCAL SHELTERS, ANIMAL RESCUES, AND NO KILL SHELTERS JUST GOOGLE TO FIND ONES IN YOUR AREA..YOU CAN ALSO LOOK ON CRAIG'S LIST.ORG IF ALL OF US ADOPT ONE ANIMAL . THAT ONE LESS ANIMAL WHO IS HOMELESS.. A CUTE CAT. A FRISKY KITTEN, A LOYAL DOG, A BEAUTIFUL PUP, A SWEET FERRET, A LOVELY BIRD A PRECIOUS MOUSE, HAMSTER OR RAT OR A CUDDLY RABBIT ARE WAITING FOR YOU..
JUST REMEMBER THESE FEW IMPORTANT CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. PLEASE BE EXTRA PATIENT AND CARING WITH YOUR NEW FAMILY MEMBER WHO KNOWS WHAT PREVIOUS SITUATION THEY HAVE GONE THROUGH .. IT COULD BE ABUSE OR NEAR DEATH .. ALSO ANIMALS WHO HAVE SPENT TIME LIVING IN CAGES CAN GET A LITTLE STIR CRAZY AND LOOSE SOME SOCIAL SKILLS.. THEY NEED YOU LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING AND MOST OF ALL YOUR GIFT OF PATIENCE SOME ANIMALS ARE FRIENDLY RIGHT OFF THE BAT OTHERS TAKE WEEKS, MONTHS EVEN A YEAR BUT THE REWARD OF TRUST AND LOVE THEY WILL GIVE YOU IS SOOOOOOOO WORTH IT
2.PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING SOME OF THE OLDER ANIMALS, THEY DON'T DESERVE TO LIVE THEIR LAST YEARS OUT IN A CAGE OR BE PUT TO DEATH..ALLOT OF THE OLDER ANIMALS ARE MORE MELLOW.. ALSO PLEASE CONSIDER THE ANIMALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS..THEY ARE HARDER TO ADOPT OUT AND ARE AT A GREATER RISK OF BEING PUT TO DEATH, AS WELL AS SOME ANIMALS HAVE A MERE COLD AND ARE PUT IN THE BACK ROOMS OF SHELTERS AND NO ONE SEES THEM, PLEASE ASK TO SEE THEM WHEN VISITING A SHELTER
2. ANIMALS GET COLD WHEN LEFT OUTSIDE IN WINTER WEATHER FOR LONG PERIODS ESPECIALLY OVERNIGHT. LOTS OF PEOPLE MAKE THE MISTAKE OF THINKING THAT ANIMALS DONT GET COLD BECAUSE THEY HAVE FUR- THEIR FUR COAT IS EQUIVALENT TO US WEARING ABOUT 4 LAYERS OF CLOTHES AFTER A FEW HOURS IT GETS COLD. I PERSONALLY WOULD BRING THEM INSIDE BUT AT-LEAST HAVE A VERY WARM COMFORTABLE WATERPROOF SHELTER FOR THEM OUTSIDE. THEY ALSO GET VERY HOT AND CAN DIE FROM HEAT EXHAUSTION DURING WARM WEATHER PLEASE PROVIDE A SHADY AREA OUTSIDE AND PLENTY OF FRESH COLD WATER
3. ,PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THEM FROM A CAGE AT THE POUND TO ONLY BE PLACED IN A CAGE IN YOUR HOME.. YOU WOULDN'T LIKE TO BE CAGED UP ALL DAY WELL NEITHER DO THEY "CAGE TRAINING" IS BULLSHIT ..YOU CAN FIND OTHER WAYS TO "TRAIN" YOUR DOG NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO BE CAGED EXCEPT FOR HARDENED CRIMINALS AND THE SAME GOES FOR CHAINING YOUR DOG UP ALL DAY OR NIGHT IF THIS IS YOUR PLAN, DO NOT ADOPT AN ANIMAL
4.. MAKE SURE YOUR ANIMALS HAVE FRESH FOOD AND WATER DAILY OR IF THEY GET SICK OR INJURED TAKING THEM TO A VET ASAP SHOULD BE A GIVEN BUT ANIMALS ALSO NEED PLAY TIME WITH YOU, ATTENTION AND LOVE.. LOTS OF VET WILL WORK WITH YOU IF YOU ARE ON A BUDGET..YOU CAN ALSO CHARGE VET VISITS
5. , A CAT IS BORN WITH CLAWS AND CAN HAVE A TENDENCY TO PEE A DOG BARKS...THIS IS PART OF WHO THEY ARE. DOGS COMMUNICATE THROUGH BARKING..IT'S HOW THEY TALK, WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO MAKE THEM MUTE, TO CUT THEIR TAILS , TO CROP THEIR EARS.. LOOK PIERCE , TATTOO AND GET ALL THE PENIS AND BREAST IMPLANTS YOU WANT BUT LEAVE YOUR ANIMALS ALONE! DONT SHOCK YOUR ANIMAL FOR WHAT THEY NATURALLY DO OR MUTATE THEM IF YOUR SOFA IS SO PRECIOUS TO YOU AND YOU CANT STAND A LITTLE PEE OR BARKING THAN OBVIOUSLY YOUR NOT MEANT TO HAVE AN ANIMAL, GO ADOPT ANOTHER COUCH TO READ ABOUT WHY NOT TO DE-CLAW GO TO THESE LINKS:
when a person decides to adopt a non human it's an incredible gift for the person and the non human. Because no matter what you are going through, that cat or dog or fish or bird or rat is going to gift you with love and joy. But many people don't realize that buying animals from a "pet store" is making things worse for thousands of animals. Many "pet stores" neglect, abuse, or torture the animals who are captive and often kidnapped from their natural homes or breed under terrible conditions. Especially when it comes to exotic animals who many people have no training to know how to care for -aside from the fact that the store's environment is dangerously different than their natural habitat, IF you want to adopt that is a beautiful experience but also a life long one. Please commit to care taking for the animal for it's entire life, It's like having a child, you wouldn't dump the kid if you have to move and they don't allow kids right? same morals should stick with an animal you adopt. So often people forget or are even unaware that animals though different than us in many interesting ways are the exact same in that they have feelings they experience hunger, pain, fear, anxiety, depression and loneliness just like they feel happy, appreciation, joy and love just like us. So please, adopt from rescues and animal sanctuaries instead of pet stores and when you take an animal into your care, commit to this animal and follow through with shelter, food, medical care when needed and love , Lots of us have issues dealing with life but being a proper animal care taker is one thing we can do and do well.. and the benefits of the love you will get are priceless!!
the following are footage from undercover animal activists that show why you SHOULDN'T buy from pet stores :
