So if noone knows I got a shit minimum wage job at a gas station and today I was ringing up a guy in line and the exchange kinda went something like this

Me: Your total is Nineteen-eightyfour
Guy in Line: That was a great year
Me: Thats not what George Orwell says
Guy in Line: Well he didnt Graduate from my High school he would have tought it was a great year.

Instant Gradification & Dagorhir

First and formost I want to get everyone's agreement that Common Sense should supercede the rules, if an action that your about to take would injure or jeopardize someone then common sense dictates that you should not go through with said action, you'd think so.

But when that fails, usually the community as a whole aggrees to a set of "rules" or "laws"  that they believe is common sense rules/laws, but there are some in or out of the community that circumnavigate said rules/laws because they think they are either frivolous or looking for the quick and easy way for instant gratification, in the real world these rule infractors are called criminals and crimianls are usually dealt with by law enforcement who are suppose to know the rules.

We preceve these law enforcement personel as paragons of the law, having faith in their certainty and confident knowledge of the law, again you'd think so.
But lets say that the law enforcement did'nt know the laws they enforced what happens then? Does law enforcement turn a deaf ear? Do they become complaicent because it takes less effort and creates less problems to just do nothing?
Common Sense dictates that this creates chaos and when the checks and balances are removed then the structure turns in on itself and collapses as a whole, the bad news is that you took a position of authority when you took the job, and yes that means your going to have to make unpopular rulings, and yes people won't like you as a matter of fact they will down right loath you, Your position has alot of responsibility and if you dont think you step up, then step down

Sure what we do is for fun and despite what some people say we are not a professional sport but ignoring or ignorance puts saftey at risk for everyone on the field but the 2003 New Millennium editiond of the rules on the site tell how to inform newbies who have fought 3 or fewer battles to inform them of the rules and they claims it takes only 20 minutes, and if you could trade 20 mins for an injury wouldn't you do that as a Herald?

So to wrap up my long winded rant I propose that newbies have a 3 or 4 event observation only period where they do not participate in combat but follow a Herald for 4 events so they can learn the rules and witness what combat is about, Instant gratification MUST end if this new player is serious about particpation then the rules must be learned before even picking up a sword! This does not mean no combat at all but no field battles/wood battles or mass melee, the newbie can train/spar 1 on 1 off to the side under the supervision of a Herald or Veteran/Knight of the realm.
Second, at the end of said probation the newbie can then go through an "Authorization Trail", the trail consists of a 1 on1, 2 on 1, and a 2 on 2 with at least one melee against a shield under the supervision of the Head Hearld, a Hearld or a Veteran/Knight of the realm, said trail may continue beyond the 3 melee bouts if the Hearlds deem an earlier bout was unsatisfactory.
In the end the Head Hearld says weather or not the probation period is over and the newbie is allowed to fight in mass melee or that the 4 event probation period begins again.

Sure its draconic, yes it might even be called unfair, but with more people taking the field and with a new chapter popping up every month and the relatively young age of new members I think this simple check & balance is sorely needed

The Truth About the Crystal Skull

Found this little tidbit online about the "mysterous" origins of the Crystal Skulls apperently there is 13 of of them and has been popping up for the last 80 or 90 years.

Crystal Skulls

The questionable origin of the Mitchell-Hedges skull has not deterred belief in the skull's mysterious properties. Rather, at least 13 other skulls have mysteriously appeared over the years. Some of these skulls are claimed to have magical origins and healing powers. However, a study of several crystal skulls by the British Museum in 1996 indicates that the only magic involved in the creation of these skulls was in keeping their fraudulent origin a secret. The study concluded that the skulls were made in Germany within the past 150 years. The recent origin explains how they were made with tools unavailable to the ancient Mayans or Aztecs.

Using electron microscopes, the researchers found that two of the skulls possessed straight, perfectly-spaced surface markings, indicating the use of a modern polishing wheel. Genuine ancient objects would show haphazard tiny scratches from the hand-polishing process.

Buck Rogers Movie

Lol! Get Will Smith to play Buck Rogers and they might have a winner, j/k.
I really can't think of who they could get to be Buck and good casting will make or break this concept...look how Sci-Fi screwed up the Flash Gordon franchise my making the casting look like Smallville

Down In Fraggle Rock!

Weinsteins are considering a Fraggle Rock movie, IMO I suggest dropping the muppets and going CG like what the did for the TMNT movie. Considering how well the last Muppet Treasure Island movie did it might be the kiss of death for this project.

Is this trying to be Chevy Chase?

Anyone remember how popular Chevy Chases late night show was? This guy sucked on SNL and his movies are just as bad, lets hope for a quick end to his late night career.
