HOLLYWOOD CALLING - Steven Marque SoCal Event

HOLLYWOOD CALLING - Steven Marque SoCal Event

Because of overflow crowds and the resulting damages and problems at the last Steven Marque event in 2007 at The Roosevelt, we are forced to maintain the secrecy of the exact date and location of the fall 2008 SM Saturnalia, this in October in Hollywood.  If you were present, we're sure you would not want to see that sort of dangerous mayhem again - we know the LAPD and management would not.  If you were not there, consider yourself fortunate.

Stand by for late breaking details of the event and ticketing information.

The SM Group - "One night with Steven Marque, and forget everyone and everything you ever knew."

Gothic fetish tone is maturated to the revival of the flourising 19th Dandish european century. A romantic wave found in overall intellectual circles being turned to spiritism, oriental philosophies or vampyre theatrical, to the birth of modern architectures and cabaret ; Steven Marque enlightens us back to the influence of Joris-Karl Huysmans novelist and his main character : des Esseintes...

"To prompt the imagination of listener or viewer though these stages is to awaken the universal poetic genius which I believe is in us all."

"Il s'apercevait enfin que les raisonnements du pessimisme étaient impuissants à le soulager, que l'impossible croyance en une vie future serait seule apaisante."

MY AIM IS TRUE
Current mood: IN THE FLESH
Category: IN THE FLESH Life

Steven Marque: "My art and music is associated with threefold vision. I'm trying to rouse the listener or viewer from single vision into the double vision which is the generative symbol of the fourfold vision in eternity. Double vision is to perceive through contraries, to perceive not only that nature is a garden of delights, but that it is also a prison of desires. Threefold vision is to perceive the identity of the contraries. As in Blake: "There is a place where Contraries are equally True. This is a place called Beulah, It is a pleasant lovely shadow where no dispute can come." I hope to create a passive and transitory state, (threefold vision,) before reaching fourfold vision which is active and demands that all things be forsaken, I intend to create a place to pass through, not a place to linger. Fourfold vision is the gateway to infinite vision. To prompt the imagination of listener or viewer though these stages is to awaken the universal poetic genius which I believe is in us all. Meaning is not the issue in such matters, nor could it be, since experienced worlds are perpetually crossed with networks of warring ideas and systems of ideas. All ideas have their contraries and the sets of contraries are indefinitely expandable within worlds mapped along four dimensions. The essence of human life is not thought, but experience, the imaginative apprehension of the unseen worlds which we believe will always exist for the joy of our discovery. These may as well be worlds of thought, but for me, the experience of discovering them rather than the intellectual possession of them is paradise, Eden, the fourfold vision. Consider these, my intentions as you listen to my songs or observe my art - even better, keep them in mind and return to them often as your own supernatural Beulah, whenever you find yourself mired in the slavery of media as message mortal life in 2008.  And please know sincerely, that I aim to provide you nothing less than a first class ticket on your own bullet train to your own fourfold vision so you may burn as do I, at both ends constantly with a hard gemlike flame. To maintain this ecstasy is success in life. NOT the fruit of experience, but experience itself is the end. I come to you frankly, professing to give nothing but the highest quality to your moments as they pass and simply for those moments sake. I truly believe sin is not sin when virtue is profaned. This is MY artistic and literary protest against a spiritually bankrupt civilization and against those who would masquerade as spiritually superior when they are criminals and cretins in actuality. This is an experimentation in life as art and my fervent belief that ONLY the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. My ethos is total devotion to decadence and artifice. Just as in fin de seicle fetid French hothouses; where there grew monstrous and seemingly artificial orchids, this sound and vision flourishes like a hybrid species on display - cultivated purely as a challenge to nature and its supposed authorities.  It is a clear assertion of a total desire for wretched excess and animalistic appetite for pleasure." +SM
