DISASTER TALES FROM THE DATING CRYPT
Current mood: nauseated
Category: Romance and Relationships
I began my journey into 21st century dating after my divorce. I had been married for 11 years, and with her for 16 total, so most of my adult life had been spent outside of the dating pool. Once I dove in the horrors began...
The first woman I met after coming out of my marriage was actually gorgeous. But she knew it. She basically wanted someone to talk to her on the phone, and compliment her, while paying her bills. She told me that she didn't want any romance, but she wanted my credit card and funds, simply because she felt she was cute. Needless to say, she didn't get any money and she stopped getting calls.
Woman 2 was a doozy. We met on one of those often advertised dating sites. She didn't have a picture posted, so I was left with her self description --which was a good one: Small but curvy, long hair, light skinned Mexican/African-American mix. We started talking on the phone and one day she popped up at my door. Let me just say that anyone who dates on the net should require a photo first!!! She was fat, almost bald, and she was neither light nor mixed! She then started talking about how she wanted to engage in BROWN SHOWERS with me! Now I have been known to talk shit, but I refuse to eat it or play in it! I have problems with my stomach anyway, but she sent them into overdrive. That first visit was her last.
Woman 3 was a blind date hooked up by a friend. We met for lunch at a little restaurant, and being the gentleman I brought flowers. She was 32 and I was 35 at the time, but after lunch she told me that I was too old. She said she liked 18-20 year-old gangbangers. Obviously we weren't right for each other, but she had the nerve to ask me to keep giving her flowers with no chance of romance. NEXT!
Lady 4 was another woman from a dating service -- the same dating service as woman 2 (brown shower lady), which should have sent off warning lights in my head. Lust overruled logic so I emailed her my phone number. BAD MOVE! She called and the conversation was nice...until she got around to telling me that she'd stabbed her husband 17 times when she was married! I was still in a state of shock when she broke the silence by asking me over to dinner. I said no and all hell broke loose. She cursed me out like a pirate...but I still didn't go. That's why I'm still here, to share these fucked up stories!
Woman 5 was a gorgeous East Indian woman who I met on Black Planet. We had nice conversation, and it led to her setting up a time for a picnic. I had to buy everything for the picnic of course, but I didn't mind. I dusted off my picnic basket/cooler, went to grab some food, and ran by the liquor store to get whatever it was that she drank. We met at a park near my house and had nice conversation once again, while her children played. She'd just finished telling me how perfect I was for her when she asked me to point out my car in the lot. At the time I was driving a 1987 Mercury Cougar. I guess that was below her standards, because no sooner had I pointed out my car, she grabbed her kids and drove away without explanation. I was left with big bottles of alcohol -- and I don't even drink!
Woman 6 was a cutie who I also met on BP. We got along, so it seemed, so she started coming by my house before class on school nights. On about the third visit we were sitting in my livingroom, watching one of the "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies, when she looked at the screen and asked "Has that ever happened to you?" I didnt know what she meant. How could something from Freddy Krueger movies happen to me??? I asked what she was talking about, and she went on to tell me that she had been kidnapped by spirits in her bedroom and taken away through her mirror. After determining that she was dead serious, my mind raced with questions about whether or not a 911 call could get the guys from the rubber room to come get her. That dated finally ended and it was the last.
Am I doomed to dating horrors??? What kind of dating curse am I under??? I could go on with more fucked up tales of dating disaster, and maybe one day I will, but remembering this shit has my stomach hurting again right now. Adios....

BEST SEX: DRUNK OR SOBER?
Current mood: naughty
Category: Romance and Relationships
I don't know why this question popped into my head...but it did, so I pass this query on to you: IS SEX BETTER WHILE DRUNK OR SOBER?
I don't drink and when I did --over 20 years ago-- I never had sex while drunk. Therefore, I have no idea what the answer is. If you don't drink, but smoke da sticky buds instead, then substitute the word "Stoned" for "Drunk" and answer away.

WORST U.S. PRESIDENT OPINION POLL
Current mood: inquisitive
Category: Quiz/Survey
Question: Who was the worst President of The United States DURING YOUR LIFETIME?
I was born in 1967 so I've been through the reigns of Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush so far. Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan were contenders for my vote, but I give mine to George W. Bush, a.k.a. Lil' George. After his lying to start an unprovoked war with Iraq, his subsequent handling of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, his handling of Hurricane Katrina, his role in the Scooter Libby affair, and for a number of other reasons, he gets my vote hands down.
Who gets your vote for the worst?

SUDAN LOADS UP ON CHINESE WEAPONS
Current mood: disgusted
Category: News and Politics
The Sudanese government is using oil revenues to stock up on Chinese armaments. China has a 40% stake in Sudan’s largest oil co-op, and it is protecting this investment by building a strong military relationship with the butchers of Darfur. So far Sudan has purchased Chinese man portable surface-to-air missiles, infantry fighting vehicles (IFV’s), K-8 jet trainers, A-5 attack aircraft and F-7 jet fighters. Sudan is also negotiating with China to buy the FC-1/JF-17 multirole fighter (read more about the FC-1/JF-17 HERE). Apparently China has no problem giving the butchers of Darfur advanced tools to carry out their genocide. This sad saga of greed, profit, and human cruelty goes on...

MEDIEVAL RECIPES FOR MODERN KITCHENS
Current mood: hungry
Category: Food and Restaurants
I enjoyed my visit to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament so much that I wanted to find some recipes from that time period. I eventually found a website, appropriately named Medieval Recipes, which is a treasure trove of ancient food preparations. The site has a long list of recipes for meats, desserts, sauces, veggie dishes and more.
Meat lovers might enjoy these dishes in particular: BAKED MALLARD, CORMARYE (Roast Pork), VENISON, A GOOD ROAST, STUFFED CABBAGE, BUKKENADE (Beef Stew) and STUFFED PIGLET.
When the urge strikes to have a meal fit for royalty check out Medieval Recipes. Skip the usual Hamburger Helper --or whatever-- and turn your dinner table into a middle age feast for a night. Eat Up & Enjoyeth!

U.S. IRAQ WAR DEATH TOLL HITS 4,000
Current mood: disgusted
Category: News and Politics
American deaths in The Iraq War recently reached the 4,000 mark. As if this wasn’t bad enough, the number of military personnel wounded has surpassed 29,000! Add to this the number of Iraqi and coalition partner lives lost, and the ever mounting financial costs, and it’s evident to me that enough is enough!
While George Bush is listening to so-called divine voices for guidance (mental illness or his huge dish ears picking up broadcasts are most likely the source), thousands upon thousands of real voices are calling for an end to his blunder. John McCain might want to put American lives at risk for another hundred years in Iraq, but I certainly don’t! End the madness of Bush’s blunder and bring our brave troops home...THOSE WHO ARE STILL ALIVE!

HIGH SUICIDE RATES FOR IRAQ WAR VETERANS
Current mood: angry
Category: News and Politics
I watched The Montel Williams Show today and sat stunned as I listened to veterans and others talk about the continuing problems of Iraq War veterans, once they return home. The horrors of war are leaving our vets to deal with the various effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and they need help now! Numerous mental/emotional problems are tormenting our brave military personnel, and in far too many cases this torment results in suicide! Suicide rates for Iraq War vets have reached 17 per 100,000 troops! This is totally unacceptable! I truly don’t think humans were made to withstand the constant stresses and ugliness of war. Our troops are going through extended deployments and multiple rotations in a war seemingly without end. How can we expect our troops to face constant death, while seeing the ugly face of death in torn flesh and ripped body parts, without snapping?
Our government sent them to Iraq to fight, and in many cases die for political reasons. That same government needs to cut the political bullshit and properly care for our walking wounded once they’ve returned! Those vets that have been fortunate enough to survive Bush’s blunder in Iraq deserve the finest medical care, and the utmost assistance in their return to civilian life. Mr.Bush, and whoever becomes the next president, listen up...SUPPORT THE TROOPS WITH DEEDS, NOT WORDS! OUR TROOPS NEED COMPREHENSIVE CARE --MIND, BODY AND SOUL! GIVE IT TO THEM NOW!!!
Any vets who are feeling suicidal can contact:
The U.S. Veterans Affairs Dept. Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255
The National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-784-2433

CLINTON SLEEPS ON MLK WHILE OBAMA'S SUPPORT GROWS!
Category: News and Politics
While former President Bill Clinton is sleeping at tributes for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Sen. Hillary Clinton continues to try to distort Sen. Obama's comments and record, support in South Carolina --the next primary state for Democrats-- continues to grow for Obama. Even as Sen. Clinton lashed out during the recent South Carolina Democratic Party debate, polls show Sen. Obama with a significant lead. People are tired of the old guard and want something --and someone-- new. The voters in South Carolina will send that message with an Obama primary victory.

BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!
Category: News and Politics
I'd just like to say openly that I endorse the Senator from my home state of Illinois to be the next President of the United States of America -- Senator Barack Obama! I feel that Sen. Obama will pay attention to the healthcare needs of Americans by giving us an affordable healthcare plan. I also feel that he will actually attempt to target and eliminate Osama Bin Laden, regardless of where he finds refuge; and I honestly feel that he is the freshest candidate in the race, and most apt to make real change in the country. Visit The Barack Obama Campaign Online and The Barack Obama Myspace Page. Support the Senator in his bid to make history!!!

PAKISTAN’S JF-17 GETS GREENLIGHT WITH RUSSIAN ENGINE
Category: News and Politics
The Chinese/Pakistani produced JF-17/FC-1 jet fighter was developed to meet Pakistan's air defense needs, while establishing a domestic capability to produce military aircraft. This was necessary for Pakistan due to a history of reliance on foreign arms (i.e. the U.S. made F-16), thus making the country vulnerable to arms embargoes. With a history of wars with her arch-rival India, Pakistan wanted to establish a domestic capability to guarantee the supply of quality arms. Consequently, in collaboration with China, the JF-17/FC-1 program was initiated and brought to fruition in 2007.
The aircraft and its avionics are produced by China and Pakistan, but the engine is Russian. Herein lies the problem. India is a major arms customer for the Russians --as is China-- and India used this position to pressure the Russians into denying Chinese re-export of its RD-93 engine. This put the JF-17 program into limbo, as Chinese turbofan engine technology has not yet matured enough to produce a comparable engine. After facing mounting interest from other nations in the relatively inexpensive fighter ($20 million U.S.) Russia has finally given the go ahead for China to re-export the RD-93 engine.
Pakistan has already approved purchase and co-production of the JF-17, with plans to induct between 150-300 aircraft. Other countries expected to purchase the 4th generation jet fighter are Algeria, Azerbaijan, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh. Nations expressing interest include Iran, Burma, Lebanon and Sri Lanka.
