Africa, Mini tour plans for the fall, more plans..
Hello,
Well we have a little bit of new news and some old news...
For the old news, Sudan will be on hiatus for two months as Kevin goes to do some humanitarian work in Namibia and South Africa. He'll be updating the myspace periodically.
We pick up again in September, and our first show is looking like a great one with Sick to the Back Teeth (Long Island), and our label mates Lonely Ghost. More news on this show (which will be titled "Sick to the Lonely Sudan") closer to September...
In addition, we are in the early stages of planning a small 3 city tour in the early months of the fall. This tour will be with our label mates Lonely Ghost (we really like those guys :-)) We are looking at New Haven (CT), Albany (NY), and of course our home here in Brooklyn. Stay tuned for more info as it arrives..
We hope every one is well, thank you continually for all of the support you have shown us..:-)
See you in a few months..
Kevin, Jake & Eric

Show on the 7th to go on, minus Sudan.
Hello,
Updates..
We will not be playing the show on the 7th, however it will still be continuing on as a record release show for our labelmates, Lonely Ghost. Our deepest apologies about this but it is too long to explain the reason behind this sudden change. :-)
Anyway, we hope to play something some where before Kevin leaves for Africa..with only 2 weeks left, we are hoping for a miracle to make up for missing this show.
Ok so thats all for now.
We hope everyone is well :-)

New member of Sudan, the show on the 7th will be quiet..
Hello,
Some updates..
We officially have a third member of Sudan, our friend Eric will be joining us on bass and we are happy to have him. His inclusion adds a whole new facet to our live performance and we are excited to see how it comes together. It is quite possible that he will be joining us on the 7th of June.
In regards to the 7th of June, this will be an extremely quiet show. We have word that we have to keep it quiet (not just us, all the bands) and we will be playing a stripped down mostly acoustic set! It will be interesting as we have not really done this before. So we'll see..
Thats all for now..please continue to check with us for more information as we get closer to the show..

We will let you know when that is confirmed..
Our show on the 7th of June is confirmed, several other bands will be playing besides us, our friends in Lonely Ghost as well as Sick To The Back Teeth (NY). Free songs..belated thank you’s and Updates..
Hello,
First of all, this is a very late thanks to all those who came out to see us play with Lonely Ghost and Magnets for Teeth the other night...It was a great laid back tuesday night and it was a really great set. Lonely Ghost was great as always...expansive and enveloping. Magnets for teeth were really good as well, they were a new sound to us as we hadn't seen them prior to that night. It was a welcome new experience. We kept it nice and short. Thats how we like it...in short, it was a great night. Thanks to all of our friends that came out and thanks to Jake from Don Pedro's. Your a fantastic guy Jake! Also thank you to all of the people that we met that night, it was great to meet you!
Thank you also to the supporters of our myspace page here. You guys have been averaging our plays at 60+ a day. I don't know who it is but just know that we are HONORED that you would enjoy the music we make enough to keep listening to it! This music is made to share with people, and we are glad that we can share it with you..
Updates..well one of us (Kevin) is going to be in Africa doing some humanitarian work for about 2 months so Sudan will be on a brief hiatus during the months of July and August. But we will be trying to line up some NYC shows before we break for the summer...please stay tuned.
In addition most of the songs on our page are available for free download. Please take advantage of this! I think some are not for some reason, but I will double check and make sure all of them are. Also if you'd like any of the songs you hear and have trouble downloading them, send us a message and I will snail mail you a copy of as many songs as you want. We're glad you like us enough to send us a message :-).
Also be sure to check out some of our friends bands on our top friend list. We recommend:
1) Wooden Dinosaur: They are fantastic, if you haven't, go listen. 2) Lonely Ghost: Expansive 3) Sweatlodge: Heavy, really good.. 4) Muddy World: Crazy Japanese improv.
Be safe,
Kevin & Jake

Reflections (While in Panama)
I have wandered through this airport and I can’t find one book store.Which is a good thing because I need to manage my money spending anyway. I’m getting ready to go back to new york, where I have everything at my grasp and I don’t need half of it. I survived on gallo pinto and carne the whole time I was there. I really do need to cook though. I always learn some interesting ways of doing things while I’m on the road. The fruit and yougurt things was great, thanks Natalie. I’m sure it isn’t a novel idea or anything, but it is a good one and cheap too. I wonder if its possible to only spend $2 to $5 dollars a day somewhere in the US. What I’m going to have to do is find the next best option. I loved Vermont....Its hard being around people who are doing so many interesting things..some of them I could do right now if I chose. I could teach at one of the many english schools around the world, I could build houses in Mongolia and stay. I could help the ecology and help preserve the wild in Costa Rica. There are so many things that I could do... Things are finally starting to make sense though. When I see the people of Nicaragua and how they live, I feel a huge sense of responsibility to help in any way that is possible, not that patronizing ’big brother’ responsibility..more like, ’it’s our fault in many ways that their situatution is like this.’ Read your history of american intervention in Central America. I need to develop my spanish, so that I can help further. I really see myself with the ability to enter in and make a difference, at the end of the day, I am not some rich kid trying to build up his resume. I am a lower middle class person. The son of an immigrant, and I want to make a difference. I never understood why one would work for 7 dollars an hour and appreciate the job.. but you will never know until you SEE. You must see, you must experience, you must walk their streets, you must see the poverty to understand. I don’t want to get into the causes. I want to help. So, I’ll continue to make a differnce. I’m going to continue to donate to La Esperanza Granada, and as much as I can I will be bringing the school supplies myself, and continue to build my knowledge base. I think I did ok with my spanish speaking abilities this time, but there is always room for improvement. And as I discussed with my friend this week, if you aren’t willing to climb into the culture in every aspect, languages and all, you will never gain the trust of the people. And with out their trust you can’t help.
But back to the bookstore issue. I seriously don’t understand why there is no bookstore here...curses.

My view from Nicaragua or If it’s Yellow let it Mellow.
Hmm. It took me a little while to get used to this. There is currently a serious water shortage in most of Nicaragua, so this is the theme. If it’s just plain pee leave it be, it’s in round and brown, flush it down. It saves alot of water actually, if you think of how much you usually pee during the day. It makes your bathroom smell a little bit rank, but is a bathroom supposed to smell pretty? Seriously, it’s a good idea.
The dogs. Ok so there is a ton of stray dogs here. But not stray like in the states, if you see a stray dog in the streets, everyone goes running away, or throws things at it..or worse. Here they are just another part of the community. They kind of laze around during the middle of the day and run about at night, barking at each other, sitting next to people looking for scraps of whatever they can get. Some of them are just plain dangerous looking, you kind of cross the street slowly when you see those, but most don’t even pay attention to you and some are even really nice looking. I saw one today that I wanted to put in my bag.
Further to come.

New Song Posted w/Wooden Dinosaur
Hi,
Just spent last weekend recording a bunch of songs with Michael Roberts of Wooden Dinosaur, in the wonderful state of Vermont. It was incredible, we recorded about 20 minutes from Brattleboro, which is a really awesome town. This song: Juniper Flys High, is just one of many that we recorded.
We hope you enjoy and please check out Wooden Dinosaur’s blog for more songs that we recorded that weekend.
And if you are in the NYC area on April 15th, we’ll be having a show with Lonely Ghost and friends. More info is available on Andtheyfell Recordings website.
Thanks! Sudan
