3:42 PM - It’s a girl!
Current mood: excited
If you didn't already know, we found out on Friday that we are in fact having a girl. We are both so excited! Now we just need to come up with a fitting name which will be difficult as name meanings are very important to us. Any good suggestions?

5:06 PM - One more week!
Current mood: impatient
If this little somersaulting parasite in my belly cooperates, we will be finding out if we're having a boy or girl next Friday. I'm so damn excited! Not only to find out the sex of the baby but also because my mom will be coming to stay with us for a day or too so she can go to the ultrasound AND by a lucky coincidence, my best friend from Portland will be in town that week and will also be attending the ultrasound. (I'm allowed to bring 4 people with me - Derek, Rayn, my mom, and Paul) We'll finally be able to get some gender specific things for our nursery in progress. I'll be sure to keep you all posted when we find anything out.
Bye!

7:23 AM - Some of what I’ve been busy with...
Current mood: awake
Category: Art and Photography
Here's some examples of the things I've been doing for one of my classes.
Less is more project.

Four Square Project

Black paper on bristol board. The assignment was to use four black squares to create a design to illustrate the following words:
Order Increase Bold Congestion Tension Playful
Jack and Jill project

The goal of this project was to illustrate the nursery rhyme of Jack and Jill using a very specific set of symbols given to us with the assignment. Markers on bristol board.
Jack and Jill Went up the hill To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down And broke his crown And Jill came tumbling after.
The next thing I'm working on is a World War II style poster. That will be my one and only completely illustrated project for this class. I'll post it when it's done.

3:39 PM - Reinforcement
Current mood: enlightened
We had a strange thing happen here at our house last night. As I was talking to my grandmother on the phone, I noticed a woman park her vehicle behind Derek's van. I always watch where people go because they get in the bad habit of blocking our parking spaces. This woman had a gift bag with her and started walking to the front of my house. Usually this means someone is going to my west side neighbors but not this time. She was coming to our house. I thought maybe she was someone from the church bringing a birthday gift for Forrest since his birthday is next Wednesday. (We are far from being members of the church but it doesn't hurt to be somewhat active with your neighbors.) Turns out, she works with something to do with safety at Primary Children's Hospital (I didn't quite understand her job description) and her children are babysat by one of my neighbors. Her kids see Rayn out on his skateboard all the time and most of the time he wears a helmet and pads. This woman felt that he was setting a good example for other kids and that kids should be randomly rewarded for taking safety precautions. In the gift bag was a candy bar, a kind note telling Rayn that they were proud of him being safe and a $25 gift certificate to Old Navy. There was no name left on the note to thank her (although we did thank her before she left). I thought this was the coolest thing. What an excellent way to reward kids for good behavior. It's a great reinforcement to what parents are hopefully already teaching their kids. Rayn and I discussed it after and decided that we are going to do something similar when we can...kind of a "pay it forward" sort of thing.
I just wanted to share that with all of you...I think that with as shitty as the world can be it's amazing what kind of good deeds are still being done out there.

3:15 PM - all is well
Current mood: exhausted
I'm finally home after a very long doctor visit (due to my vegan diet) and classes and such. Baby is doing fine. I got to see the wee one again because during the regular examination the doctor couldn't pick up a heartbeat. That was kind of worrying but luckily my doctor has an ultrasound machine on site and just took me in there and did a quick ultrasound. It's amazing how fast they grow in there. A couple weeks ago the ultrasound just showed a little pea with a flicker in the middle that was the heartbeat. Today I could see the arms and legs and tiny head. So very cool. The visit with the doctor was fairly quick but because of my morning sickness, lack of appetite and vegan diet, we both agreed to add a couple of tests onto my normal blood work to make sure I'm getting enough b12, b6, folic acid and iron. Unfortunately, the nurse didn't write the b vitamins clearly enough so I ended up waiting with the lab technician for an hour while we tried to get the correct information. It's okay though. It's not like I was missing work or anything. I did miss a class but the instructor knew ahead of time that I might. Anyway, that's all I have for now. I'm excited that things are going well this time. Now that it seems this one will last, I can start freaking about having a baby in the house again. This is going to be so weird.

9:45 AM - Food is disgusting
Current mood: tired
It's been a while since I posted and this will be very short for now. I have my second prenatal appointment on Thursday but so far everything is good. I am now officially farther along than I was when we lost the last one. I'm in my 10th week. I'm sick all the time and tired and food is disgusting but I'm always hungry. Blah. Anyway, I will let any interested parties know how my appointment went although I am sure it will be fine. I have already seen and heard the baby's heartbeat and seen an itty bitty little bean shape in an ultrasound from my last appointment so chances of miscarriage are lower at this point. In case you're wondering why such an early ultrasound (only at 6 weeks) there was concern of a ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. All is well though. I'll post later!

10:57 AM - First appointment tomorrow!
Current mood: anxious
I'm really nervous and anxious about tomorrow's appointment and the first day of class. I'm really hoping that everything goes okay. I know I will have to get blood drawn which I hate but I know it has to be done. I'll be sure to post any news from my doctor visit. Hope everyone's Mothers Day is good!
