7-29-08 Blog: Take me out to the ball game...

...take me out to the crowd! You ever wonder how they decide on who gets to sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" at the seventh inning stretch at Major League Baseball games? Well, me too! I still can't figure it out even after being asked to do exactly that at an upcoming Minnesota Twins game this August 13th. That's right, the good people in the Twins operation have deemed it appropriate that we, The Supersuckers, will get to partake in this time honored tradition when they take on the Darth Vader of baseball, the New York Yankees, in a day game this Wednesday, August 13th. The first pitch will be at 12:10 pm Central Time and we'll be doing a little show before then somewhere in the stadium at 10:45. If you'd like to come to this glorious event we will be hooking a few people up with tickets but it's first come first served so get your email requests into chris@supersuckers.com right away for your chance to see The Greatest invade the American Pastime in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Wednesday, August 13th, 2008. We will be rooting firmly for the Twins to kick the living crap outta those Damn Yankees so come on out and join us. It'll be lots of fun for sure!

Stay tuned for an update regarding our new release, "Get It Together", coming real soon to a computer near you!

Keep in touch...

7-9-08 Blog: It was 20 years ago today...

Well, not today but... Do you remember what you were doing 20 years ago? Well, we do - we were starting this little rock band called, at the time, The Black Supersuckers and the time has come to celebrate our still doing it 20 years later! That's right, it was around Thanksgiving in 1988 when we first put this group together and so, on November 29th, 2008 we will be celebrating 20 years of Supersuckers glory. How many bands make it even 5 years? 10? Not many and very, very few make it to 20 and it is with a little bit of pride and a lot of astonishment that we are able to announce this milestone. We invite you to come and celebrate with us at the Showbox in beautiful downtown Seattle where we will be taking the stage following a performance by our good friends in Zeke and we will be followed by none other than one of our favorite bands we've ever had the privilege of touring with, the one and only Mudhoney. That's right it's Zeke, The Supersuckers and Mudhoney, November 29th, 2008 at the Showbox in Seattle, WA! So come on out and party with us, will ya? It's sure to be an unforgettable evening as we venture into our next 20 years of doing what we do best - rocking the house down to the ground. Each and every time!

6-22-08 Blog: Come on and rock with us!

Come on and rock with us...

So we're out here on the road again and I just wanted to drop you all a little note to tell you to come on out here and rock with us. The shows so far have been great, but that doesn't mean they can't still rise to AWESOME. With just a little help from you, the People of Impeccable Taste out there, we can get these show up to AWESOME. Being an Awesomologist myself, it's great to see the fellow practitioners of Awesomology coming out to these shows. I mean, how do you want it? Good? Naw, that's not gonna cut it. Great? Not quite, try again buddy. How 'bout Awesome? Yeah, now we're talking! And that's how we deliver the goods, each and every night without fail. If there's a rock show to be done, rest assured, we're doing it right and we just don't want any of you to miss it. So take a good close look at the show dates listed here and make double sure you're not going to miss out on seeing the Greatest Rock-n-Roll Band In The World play with two other quality rock acts, Nashville Pussy and The Reverend Horton Heat in a town near you. As I'm writing this we're about to rock Salt Lake City to the ground, but by the time you read this we'll probably be past Boise and on to Montana so keep an eye out for us on this tour and all summer long really. We're out here rocking the songs from the upcoming release, "Get It Together" and the response has been overwhelmingly positive to the new stuff, which is super encouraging since it's taking forever to get this record out. I heard from our man, Billy Bowers that we should have the final mixes in a few days, so it's just a matter of slapping the artwork on it and lining up the retail date and it will be in your hot little hands, hopefully by the end of the summer. Whew! I sure hope so, the wait is killing me and I hope it's killing you too!

So, speaking of killing, come on out to these shows where we will be killing you in a different way. The positive way, the, "I can't believe they did it again" kind of way. We'll be looking for you...

5-1-08 Blog: G’Day Mates

G'Day Mates!

Well, I'm finally recuperated from the jet lag of our big trip to Australia. Let me tell you something - that trip is a long one, fo sho! And we were there just long enough to get used to the time change when it was time to come on back home. 14 hour flight there. 14 hour return. Whew, my arms are tired just thinking about it now. But it was all worth it as we had a fantastic time down there. The shows were awesome and the fans were great - they really turned out to see us and that felt super good. Especially awesome was the Cherry Rock Festival where a few thousand of the hardest rockin', full on party animals in all of Australia turned out for a great day of rock music.
Oh rock music, why must you live on so? Why must you keep on keepin' on when proclamations of your imminent demise are being made almost daily? Because your an animal, that's why! You're a savage beast that refuses to give up and that's why festivals like these still work - because the power of the rocks and the rolls compels us to come and bow at the alter of this unholy bastard child of the blues. Am I just delirious? Perhaps. But I still loves me some good rockin' and that's why we keep on doing this crazy thing called ROCK-N-ROLL. But I'm preaching to the choir here aren't I? You loves yourself some good rockin' too, don't ya? That's why you're reading this rant in the first place! It surely isn't for my witty repartee or my incredible use of the dangling participle, no no no. It's because we RAWK so damn hard and so damn often and that's why you're gonna come see us when we come your way. Right? Right!
I digress, not that I really had a point to digress from, I just wanted to say "Hey" to y'all, I didn't mean to get all uppity, but when I get going about the rock music, that tends to happen sometimes. So just come on out and see us will ya? Um, yeah. That'd be great.

-Eddie Spaghetti

P.S. A big fat shout out needs to go to the amazing people who brought us over to Australia. So kudos to you Mr. Bill Walsh and to you Mr. James Young, and kudos again, you may both take a bow. As well as all the other people who work for the Cherry Rock company down there. You all made me and my family feel real welcome there and I want you to know how much I appreciate it, so... Thanks mates!

Here are a couple of photos from backstage at the Cherry Rock Festival.

4-8-08 Blog: Get It Together Update

I’m sure you’re all wondering, "where the hell is that new ’suckers record?", well rest assured it IS coming. It’s just taking a little longer than we expected to get done. Our current snag is that the producer of the new record wants to make some last minute tweaks and, well, he can’t right now. He’s been detained by a little Australian band called, uh, AC/DC. That’s right our man Billy Bowers, who did such a stellar job on our "Paid" E.P., is an engineer for Brendan O’Brian who is producing the new AC/DC record and so he’s been taken away from our project temporarily. But he assures us that, as soon as he can, he will have the mixes done and that they will rock mightily so we have to just be content with that for now. In the meantime, we will be keeping busy rocking the free world and you can come and get your fix of the new material at one of our many rock shows coming up in the near future at a location near you, I’m sure.

I just thought you all should know where the new record stands right now. No one is getting any more impatient than we are, that’s for sure. We can’t wait for this record to hit the streets and these delays are killing us, but right now there’s nothing we can do but wait. So we wait, along with you, the good people of impeccable taste who subscribe to this email list.

Thanks for your time (and your patience).

3-20-08 Blog: Whoa Nelly!

Whoa, "Nelly", did we ever have a good time down in Austin, TX for the SXSW festival this last week. It really couldn’t have gone much better - not only did we totally rock the house our own damn selves, (where we rocked a BUNCH of new tunes) but we also got to see some amazing shows as well, including Motorhead (in a rare daytime, outdoor appearance at Stubbs BBQ joint which was both surreal and amazing all at the same time), Willie Nelson (at the wonderful Backyard - an amazing place to see a show) and the incredibly under-rated, under-appreciated, but still amazing Mr. Billy Joe Shaver! Who we happened to run into at Guero’s, which is as fine a mexican restaurant as you’ll ever want to find, where he wound up giving my boy Quattro a couple of guitar picks. (Which, oddly enough, were Willie Nelson picks, with little pictures of Willie on ’em. Who knows why he was carrying them around? But it sure was nice of him to give ’em to the kiddo!)

My camera phone was out and in full effect for this occurrence....

His show was awesome - one minute he’s singing about raising hell in Waco and the next minute he’s preaching a little about Jesus. Totally psycho and totally Texas.

While we were there I played a few solo shows, one memorable one being the one I did with the Railbenders as my band at a place called The Mean Eyed Cat. It was memorable for a couple of reasons - one, the show was simply incredible and the other was that in attendance was one fella by the name of Elijah "Frodo" Wood. That’s right, he was checking out the show and while he was there he was playing with my new puppy, Monkey - a too cute for words Chihuahua that the Mrs. brought out to Texas with her. (My wife was kind enough to come out to SXSW to meet me for my birthday, which was on the 16th and we had an awesome time, so thank you honey, you made the whole trip so much more fun!) Here’s Monkey on the dashboard of our rental car - taken while we were driving back to Dallas to catch our flight home -

And now we’re home. Unfortunately our van isn’t. It’s stuck in El Paso somewhere getting new brakes put on it, which apparently went out on Thunder’s drive home. Anyone out there interested in a rock band’s slightly used 2004 Ford Econoline? It’s a diesel, as if that sweetens the deal. Oh and it’s only got about 150,000 miles on it. Luckily we wont be needing it anytime soon, not until after I do some solo shows in early April with my good buddy, the amazing Mr. Jordan Shapiro as we open up a string of dates for Shooter Jennings! (Featuring a show in Nashville with the Oak Ridge Boys on the bill. Too cool!) So it’ll be the middle of April when we do some shows in Southern California (before we head to Australia!) that we need the van again. That’s right, on the 15th of April we will be taking the long-ass flight down under and we can’t wait to go down there and rock the Aussies!

So there you have it. All the news that’s fit to print. We’re still working on "Get It Together" so please be patient - it’ll be well worth the wait I assure you and I’m sorry it’s taking so long. I really can’t wait for you all to hear it!

Well, take it easy and we’ll see you out there in the trenches...

2-28-28 Blog: We’d love nothing better than to get it together!

Well folks, it's time to head out on the ol' road again. This time we're making our big run down to Texas through Colorado with our good buddies, The Railbenders. This should be an awesome trip, one that you don't want to miss if'n you're in one of these cities that we're gonna be hittin'. We're going to be playing at the SXSW festival in Austin on Friday, March 14th at the ever-wonderfully dumpy Emo's right there in the heart of Austin's illustrious music scene. And I'll be making some solo appearances all that week so come on out and be somebody! It'll be a durn good time for sure.

After this run, I'll be doing some solo dates with my good pal, Mr. Shooter Jennings in early April that will feature the talents of the one and only Jordan Shapiro as my trusty side-kick. These shows will be amazing as well and one of them even has the Oak Ridge Boys on the bill! Wow.

Then it's off to Australia with us! This will be the first time in about eight years that we've been "down under" so we're really looking forward to it. I can't wait to sink my teeth into some calamari and chips down there and to rock the Aussies! Should be an awesome time down there.

Okay, now for the big news. Our new record has been titled and the title is... The Supersuckers, "Get It Together"! That's right it's called "Get It Together" because that's what we've finally done. So look for this new masterpiece to be hitting the streets real soon. Like I said before, we really can't wait to drop this sucker on you and the time is getting nearer, so look out!

2-13-08 Blog: That’s a wrap...

Well, we're winding down this current run we've been on and I gotta tell you, it's been an awesome trip. Mostly sold out shows all along the east coast and the northern midwest has made for one happy bunch of traveling dudes. And the year is just getting started! Coming up in March we're going to be doing shows all through Colorado with those incredible fellas in The Railbenders which will take us down to Dallas for a show there on March 10th before we hit that ol' SXSW festival in Austin for a big show there on the 14th at Emo's, one of our favorite dumps to play in the free world. We're gonna be adding even more new songs to the set from our upcoming record, which is due out this spring, so we're getting pretty excited about that action. We can't wait to drop the new batch of hits on your ass!

But before we do those dates, I have an awesome solo date coming up on the 21st of February down in Portland, OR at Dante's. It's one of their "Low Dough" shows, so the cover will be only $5 and on the bill with me will be none other than the most amazing, ever reclusive, highly elusive, Mr. Gerald Collier! I am so stoked to get to see my old friend, I can't even begin to tell you how incredible he is. He's an absolute "must see"! So come on out all you Portlanders (Portland-tonians? Portlandites?) and see some awesomeness happen right there at Dante's in beautiful downtown Portland.

Well, our marathon drive from Kansas City to Denver is almost over and we're fixin' to put a hurtin' on the good people of Denver tonight before we go home for a couple of weeks 'til we start the engines again and bust out the rock for the good folks who need it in the western states. We're looking forward to a great year, it's gotten off to an amazing start and it only looks better as it goes on. We're coming up on the official anniversary of our 20th year this November and we can't believe how lucky we are to still be doing this. It's amazing, really, that this little old band from Tucson, AZ is still kicking (and kicking ass!) after all these years.

Here's to the next twenty! We'll see you out there...

Oh, and Happy Valentines Day. I hope it found you spending it with someone you care about as much as I care for my foxy gal. (Who I can't wait to see tomorrow!)

Eddie Spaghetti, on the Highway 70 heading to Denver, Wed. Feb 13th.

1-27-08 Blog: Cold, On-Fire, Look Out!, Needs a Title, etc...

Greetings from the icy tundra that is the northern midwestern United States right now. Currently we're traveling from cold-ass Cleveland to cold-ass Detroit and we are, you guessed it, cold. But the rock shows have been anything but cold, if fact they've been virtually on fire. Two sold out nights in cold-ass Chicago and another sell out last night in Cleveland makes for a happy band. Who says this "selling out" business is all bad? In fact, I'd argue that it's good, no, make that great, to sell out. So keep on a comin' to see us and make us happy will ya?

We're doing something pretty cool for our show coming up in Denver. We're going to be auctioning off two seats, right on the freaking stage, for our show at the Gothic Theater. The proceeds will benefit the Free The West Memphis Three Defense Fund, so it's going to a good cause as well. So get to bidding all you Denver-ites. Or is it Denver-tonians? Denver-inos? I'm not sure, but ANYWAY, just do it will ya? It'll be a durn good time, that's for sure. You'll get a first rate look at our whole lousy operation in action and an unforgettable show will be had by all!

In addition to opening these shows my own damn self (with the help of my esteemed colleague, Mr. Jordan Shapiro), we've been rockin' some of our new tunes out here and the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive. I can't wait to drop this new record on you all. Should be early spring when it hits. The only thing missing is a title. Any ideas? I realize that I'm opening a can of worms with this request, but I'd really kind of like to hear your suggestions, you never know what you'll get. And any band who named it's last album Motherf*ckers Be Trippin' is game for just about anything, ya know?

Keep an eye on our website for details concerning our upcoming performance at this year's SXSW festival and for information regarding our Australian tour as well. Both should be awesome events in their own way and if you're reading this from "down under", look out - we're coming your way at the end of April and we're gonna hop on top of your mom before we go!..>..D

So, in closing, the northern midwest - cold, the band - on fire, SXSW & Australia - look out, new record - needs a title.

I think that 'bout sums it up for now.

Thanks for your time,

Eddie Spaghetti, on the road somewhere in Michigan. 1/27/08

1-8-08 Blog: Eddies Latest Message

Well, the new year is here and it's got me all in a mood to do some reminiscing. That's right, even the baddest of the bad likes to take a look back at the year that was every once in awhile. It helps put everything into perspective for the new year. One that I hope is WAY better than the last since we will have a new record coming out this year and I can't wait for that to happen - it's been way too long since you had something good for you!

So let's see here...We did just over 130 shows last year, (a number we plan on beating this year!) which included 62 shows in Europe and one at what was practically the North Pole (Tromso, Norway. Look it up, it's way up there!) We did 3 motorcycle rallies, an extreme sports event in Park City, played the ever-fabulous Hootenanny in Irvine, CA and yes, we did a blistering three song set at this year's Farm Aid in New York City! I even wound up doing just over 25 solo dates including the Summer Strummer Festival in Santa Monica, CA with my good buddy Jordan Shapiro at my side. (Jordan and I are actually gearing up for a little run of dates starting next week, so check the site for details regarding that action.) The Supersuckers finished off the year with an amazing three night stand at the Viper Room in L.A. where we rang in the new year with a Big Show, the combination of our rock and country sets all in one glorious evening. It was an awesome night for sure!

What else happened last year...? Well, 2007 saw us release our Whole Foods Benefit Download for the New Orleans Musicians Clinic as well as Fan Club CD 6. It also saw us finish up our next Fan Club DVD which will ship out at the end of this month, so if you want in on that action, make sure you join the PIT right away. It's the perfect way to start off the new year! Also last year had us featured in the TV show The Deadliest Catch, who used our song "Paid" in one of their shows and ESPN used "The Fight Song" during an NFL game which was exciting to hear.

But perhaps the best thing we did all last year was finish our new recording which will be hitting the streets early this spring. It's a rock-n-roll juggernaut, sure to shake your tree and rattle your britches, this is some of the best sounding recordings we've ever done and I can't wait for you to hear it. Hell, I can't wait to hear it myself and I just finished making it!

So here's to a truly awesome 2008! We'll be hitting the road good and hard starting at the end of this month so keep an eye on our website to see when we're coming your way. Because we WILL be coming your way sooner or later, it's inevitable. Don't miss us as we roll into your town and bust out some of these new songs for you to get your rock-on to. It will be a good ol' time, guaranteed!

Happy New Year!
