Social Web 2.0: my personal opinion...

(be patient, it'll get better...)
If you may or may not have noticed, I've got a banner in my profile leading to
betamarker.com...
I really like the site and would like to tell you (all 4 of my readers!) a little about it before my actual point of this post.
basically, if you're familiar with digg, it's sort of the same, only instead of digging news, you digg software...
now imagine the possibilities, if this site goes big, no more "where can i get the best software to do this??" and "where can i download that??" in random forums all over the internet...
the answer would always be the same, "check out beta marker, try the one fitting your request with the most marks..."
or imagine having to install a new computer, you know you need your mail client, your torrent client, your free anti virus, your browser... etc.
usually you have to think of everything... there you can just browse the categories, and there's a direct download link for each software... what could be better??
(and now to the actual point...)
i know download.com has sort of a monopoly of that field because the have the best domain name... but think about it, download.com has existed since forever, those guys are old and already crawling with money by doing things the old way.
the whole web2.0 revolution is not just some fab, it's a necessity that came when models for websites were not efficient for huge traffic. traffic that came with the rising popularity of the internet (even the most stupid redneck has a web cam show on youtube...). people weren't satisfied with just surfing around and reading websites, only being an active part of forums and chats. becoming an active part of a content site was a huge step towards personalizing the internet and actually connecting the people to each other through common interests of content, and conversation!
it's made content reliable (one person can fuck things up, but communities can't!), it's made content sites fun, and you do get attached to the whole experience.
each and every one of us that spends more than 5 hours a day on their choice of a computer, makes it as much of an accessory as our shoes, purse or cellphone. why do you think macs are pretty?
and this would have never happened if it wasn't for this whole revolution that's been going on since about 2 years ago...

and i'm thinking: don't you just hate this algorithm thing??
i mean, it's obvious the ask guys said something like: "wow... google is filthy rich! i mean, filthy! they can wipe their ass with money! we want some of that money, well... nothing like good marketing to take some market share from google, at least we'll attract some idiots looking for porn on another level... so let's give them a guy dancing with ladies! that's smart..."
and don't you just hate the algorithm thing?
every where you go, the algorithm this, the algorithm that... all of this algorithm bullshit... "oooohhhh i'm soooo scared of the algorithm.... oooohhh the algorithm!!!"
soon a horror picture near you...
"uhhh guys? (tamdam!) guys? (tamdam!) i'm going to take a shower now... (tadatadam!) i'm naked here... (tadatadatadam!) what's the behind the door? must be my friends, i'll check it out... ahhh!!!!" and her body gets consumed with zeros and ones... and the whole killing process takes O(n log n) time complexity...
the fun complexity is exponential!!!
