Planter’s Ball October 20, 2007

Planter's Ball Saturday, October 20, 2007 5:30 pm with Pamela Jo Hatley & Charley Groth

Celebrate the opening of Sweetwater Organic Farm's 2007-2008 Season

Food starts at 5:30 pm.  Farm Provides Salad and Homemade Bread; Bring Covered Dish to Share; $10 donation requested

At 6:30 pm we celebrate the CD release party for "Remember Sweetwater Creek " by Pamela Jo Hatley.

Pamela's latest CD includes songs in the American folk tradition; songs from the "old country" (British Isles); a song by poet Thomas Moore; one traditional gospel song; and two originals by none other than our very own Sweetwater Sweetheart--Susan Fox. There are songs about good love, songs about bad love, songs about hard times, and songs about invasive critters. All tracks feature vocals of Pamela Jo Hatley accompanied by banjo, guitar, mandolin and the occasional harmony vocal. Steele Olmstead makes his own songwriting and vocal debut on his partner's second CD with a bonus track, "Made In China." Pamela Jo has performed at the Florida Folk Festival, Pinellas Folk Festival, and many other venues. At the 25th Annual Florida Old Time Music Championship (2006) she earned first place in women's vocals and beginning banjo.

At 7:30 p.m., Sweetwater Farm presents Charley Groth, an internationally known touring musician , magnetic entertainer and stage personality who knows how to entertain a wide variety of audiences in a wide variey of performance situations. His music, always presented with intelligence and relaxed good humor, is a potent eclectic brew. Swing, early and classic era jazz, roots country, blues, folk, impressionistic instrumentals, Scottish and Irish tunes, piano and guitar and mandolin ragtime---and his own original songs and instrumentals---are all part of his shows. He's done shows and found appreciative audiences worldwide in such places as New Zealand; Czech Republic; England; and many festivals and towns in the United States, coast to coast and border to border. Charley was inducted last year into the traditional county music hall of fame.
