THE MUSIC BUILDS TOUR with SWITCHFOOT and THIRD DAY
Robert Randolph & the Family Band and Jars of Clay
Chad from Switchfoot: "We dreamed up the The Music Builds Tour along with a few friends of ours whose main commonality is a dream to see this world change for the better. Different bands, different backgrounds, one goal: A traveling festival to raise money and awareness for Habitat for Humanity. We think very highly of the people who listen to our music. We are grateful for the open minded audience who have embraced our songs and allowed us to push the boundaries of where the music can go. We invite you to put differences in musical taste aside and focus on our commonalities: we all want to see this world change for the better. We hope that you'll come with us on this next part of the journey and get involved in something much bigger than ourselves."

3. New song and video from Switchfoot - "This Is Home"
Here's a note from Jon about the song:
When my brother and I were kids, my dad used to read us CS Lewis books before we went to sleep. So when we were asked to be involved in a movie based on his book, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" - we were honored to be considered.
I wanted to capture the longing that is embedded in much of Lewis' writing- so I tried to think back to what these stories meant to me when I was six years old and write from that perspective. The song that came out is called "This is Home." It's been quite a journey: a San Diego song with strings cut at Abbey Road in London complete with a video shot in Hollywood.
We are so excited to not only share this song with you, but also the video, which you can see on our site (here). And, you can hear the song streaming on our website, myspace, and facebook. The song will also be featured on the soundtrack, which is being released through Hollywood Records on Tuesday May 13th in stores everywhere.
This is our first venture as an independent band- so thank you for being a part of this! And thanks again for all your continued support.

Merry December
| From: | Switchfoot | Date sent | 12/12/2007 10:12:34 am | | : | Merry December |
..>
Merry December amigos,
Here's my 2007 Christmas letter, AKA the ramblings of a bass player:
1. Appetite for Construction Tour comes to a close
Well, our first tour as an independent band was quite possibly our favorite tour ever, and we are sad to see it end. Thanks to all of you who came out to say hi, this was also the biggest tour we've ever done, and it gives us great pride to feel like, together with all of you, we're creating something completely new without record labels or anyone else standing in the middle. Also, thanks to you, together we've raised over $100K for Habit For Humanity. And a large number of you even took the leap to volunteer on future Habitat builds. So great... I just feel like the community that we have together with you guys is something really special, and we're so honored to be your band. If you'd still like to get involved with Habitat, please check out their website.
2. What I did on my winter vacation...
We've been home from tour for a week now, and it's nice to be home for the holidays. The first 2 days we were home, we were greeted by what will likely be the best waves all year, so I'd say our December has begun rather nicely. Jon wasted no time at home, however, and flew to London to play an acoustic solo gig... oh yeah, and see some band from the UK called Led Zeppelin. What?? I know, amazing. Well, being an independent band has created some exciting changes, and one of those changes has been leaving the Sony message boards to launch our own separate community site. So if you haven't yet checked out the new boards, you probably should because, well, we think they rule.
3. Why our arms are numb
In other news, we all have our right arms on ice at the moment, after hand-signing 3000 Christmas cards for our annual Holiday Package, and so far we haven't lost them or had to search for them in large dumpsters like last year (although Chad did manage to spill water on a rather large stack at the very end). So I'd say we're off to a very good start, in that sense. We received the new live DVD back from the manufacturer last week, and our very own Andy Barron did a stellar job with the artwork on it. Go Andy! So the elves are busy packing orders which are now ready for shipping. If you haven't ordered your Holiday Package yet, click here... we think it's our best ever.
4. What else?
Well, that's all I can think of at the moment, hope everyone is doing well. We'll be home for the rest of the year, before visiting the Pacific Rim on January (Indonesia, Bali, New Zealand, Singapore, you know, mostly places with really good waves). Then we'll be in the studio Feb-March recording our new record (due out Fall 2008), and probably head back out for a few US dates in April. As always, check switchfoot.com for the latest tour dates and info.
Peace out amigos, and thanks for being a part of our family,
-tim

News from Switchfoot
 | Merry Thanksgiving and Happy Christmas amigos,
we've had an amazing time out on the road this year, and it's been great to see everyone showing up to sing along with us this fall. While on tour, we've been cooking up some nice holiday surprises for everyone, besides the usual stuffed turkey. We've just put the finishing touches on a brand new live DVD, which we're including in this year's holiday package. We've also put together what we think is the biggest holiday bundle we've ever created, including all the traditional items (christmas card, new buttons, etc...), but also some stuff we've never done before (a song from jon's brand new solo project, 12-page poster-book, etc...). Check it out, hope you dig it. Over the course of the year Jon will be releasing 4 ep's, with 6 songs on each
ep. The ep's will be seasonal: fall, winter, spring & summer.
The Fall ep comes out on Nov 27 PREORDER ALL 4 EPS NOW and get a signed limited edition self-portrait of Jon. Click here to buy.
