happy birthday to me and the USA
Current mood: contemplative
Category: News and Politics
As this fourth of july dawned I can't help thinking of how important this day is to so many people.
Although I have been called a tree hugging liberile and a trator to this country I can't help but laugh! this place, this land was founded on the belief that all men have the right to think, act and be what ever you want ,and no one has the right to dictate you life (except mabye your mom). It's a wonderful place where your dreams can come true with a little hard work and belife in yourself
Yes i am well aware that we have ALOT of problems , but we at lest we can change it . You don't like a law. take it to congress. You don't like an offical . Vote them out. All this with out fear of some shadow men dragging you and your family out of bed in the middle of the night never to be seen again. Yet time after time all I hear is a bunch of painty waist whiners complain but never get off there collective butts Well if that is all you have to contribute SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!! if you don,t participate you don't have a right to say anything.
Our parents march protested sat in and flower powered there way to a world they could live with. How as a nation can we do any less. My family has fought and laid down there lives for this country since befor this was a country ,and I am deaply honored to share the birthday of this country.
I most certanly don't like many of our new policys both at home and abroad but at least I can be a vehical for change. can you say the same . If it came down to it I would pick up a gun and stand on some distant or local shore dying to to defend this land . Quite frankly I would rather do it my self because, you don't ask a person to die for any thing if you are not will to do it your self. And yes; suprise suprise I would love to bitch slap some common sense in to our current pres. But I would also die to protect him to.
My grandparents alwaysed said it was a great honor to share this nations big day. And i will atmit as a kid I hated it ever time the 4 rold around I was always forgotten or added to the BBQ as a afterthought and i hated it with a passion that was truley unholy. but as I got older I understood they were right and I do love my birthday (although a card or to would be nice ). and I would have no other day

Pet another word for family
Current mood: depressed
As many peopl know, a pet is a heartfelt tresure but often times tragedy does strike. Some of you know I and my roomate owned a cat named Marco, and he was killed not long ago bye a car. As I am going though my grief Isit and wonder about all the wonder our feathered, furry and sometimes scaled family members show us.
Althouh they don't speak our language, they always lend us a ear when we need it. They comfort us when were sad . A nd is always there when we need them.
But when they pass on people always say " buy anthor________ to replace them as if they are batteries, relagating them to a lesser statis is the in your heart when they belong right where thy are. I don't mean to say don't get any more pets. I think you should. I know Marco would want us to share our love with another. He'd get pissed if we didn't, and another pet does ease the greif and still doesn't replace that well loved animal ( we have a new member of the family a well named cat called Spit Fire)
I think my roomate said it best " No one can make us forget Marco, but we still need some one who needs us." And we did. Pets are as important too day to day live as anything, and more important than most others (t.v., drama, stress)
I think the biggest rub for me though is when a animal faces harrowing odds to save a humans life all they usaly get is a small write up in the paper. But if a person does a lesser deed they get the keys to the city!!! So next time your pet begs for more treats give in they get jipped enoughas it is

what happened to today
Current mood: cynical
Category: Life
Today I look around and see that times are not what they used to be. When I was a kid there was real heroes to look up to people who inpired man to reach beyond and lift up sociaty and be better people. Now we got Paris Hilton who in my opinion is a wast of skin. She doesn't contribute to anthing, And seems to make people think it's ok to be absolut wastrels and that is today's norm. Where are all the people we are supposed to look up to.
When I was a kid cartoons had a moral to it. Even if it was corny at lest the network stations tried. Not because the had to but they wanted to. Now there showing t&a on saterday morning, and passing it off as chilren's programing.
People used to care about there neboirs and neboirhood . Now the concenses seems to be; " It's not my job. It doesn't effect me." and my personal hated " Why bother it's not like it will make a diffrence." Guess what as a member of the human race it is your job, it does effect you, and it most certanly does effect you!!!!!!
If your neboirhood is trashy pick it up it will raise your propertiy value, and make the look out side your widow better. If you don't like who's in office, vote them out. It only took 1,357 votes to put hilter in office and look what happened. And most importantly if you want somthing to change, don't sit there with your thumb up your hind quaters!! Get up. get moving and do somthing. even if you don't reach your goal at lest you effected change, and then you can inspire others to do the same.
So here is my challenge to you. find somthing that bugs you. Make out a (legal) plan then execute it. Write and tell me of what you did, and I'll figure out how to plaster it all over the place so you can in-turn inspire others. Who know's mabye you will effect enough change to be some ones hero 10 20 years from now

my Opa ( grand father)ib
Current mood: scared
Category: Life
I got news the other day that my grand father had cancer a type of lukimia that is prevalent in 25% of senior citizens. Luckly as of four months ago a treatment was found to push it into remission. But I can't help looking back on my life and remebering the man that raised me as his own child, and think how much future genirations of my family is going to miss now that cruel fate has desided to take even more from him.
See this is not his first time battling cancer .befor his first bought he was 10 ft. tall and bullet proof to me. He was the guy who took me caneoing, and taught me life was supossed to be laughed at. When the Bosten Pops came to town and my grand mother draged us to see it. We decided to "run away to Dairy Queen and get stuffed on dilly bars after that my Oma never trusted us together at anay cultreral funtion. (It's not that we didn't like the song's we just didn't like the pop's .)
He was always a stong man, but after the first bout with the big C. he wasn't the same lively silly wonderful man. And it is verey hard on people to see him laid low like he was. But not nearly as hard as it was for him. He couldn't go to Germany and see his old haunts and old friends like he used to. Now he was stuck whith tour guides he couldn't do a lot of things. He wanted to come out and see me last summer, but living 30 min. from Death Valley made it to dangerous. Not like when i was a kid, we were out here exploring the caves and looking for pictagrams and dinasour bones
Now here cames the big thing, As many people know prayer does help, and this is what I ask you. With this lukemia hitting him hard I am askinging for a inter- faith prayer circle.I don't care if you are Jewish, Muslim, Christan, Buddist or Pagen. I ask that you light a candle, say a prayer , chant what ever your heart tells you, because my family still needs him.He is our patriarch, and our shelter from the storms. Please, I that you for you time

SOUTHERN LIVING
Current mood: pissed off
Category: Blogging
I CAN'T BELIEVE IN THIS DAY AND AGE PEOPLE STILL RELY ON STEROTYPES!!!! I was at The Dr. office the other day and I picked up a issue of the New Yorker You know the mag. The one that any body who's any body reads. And once again it was slamming southerners. Portraying us as inbreed, slack jawed, hillbilly's, with less than a 2 grade education.
Well I am going to clue in the inebriated social parasites. If it wasn't for a southerner there would be NO major surgery. For a SOUTHENER was the one who figured out blood transfusions, A SOUTHENER invented street lights to cause less accidents.
We are poets doctors, artists, thinkers, and dreamers. I am a democrat who beliefs in gun control. Separation of church and state. Finally I was reading hamlet and understanding it at age 6!! People say we are slow of wit and feeble of mind just because we take things a little slower. Well there is a reason we do. Life's little treasures that you can't buy ( the perfect sunset playing with your child before they grow up and many other things will never be yours unless you slow down some of our greatest leaders were southerners and I am proud ...nay honored to be on of though people who live life a little slower who live like there's only time for today so next time you hear someone talk about southerners in such a manner just tell them every one at one point and time owes there life and happiness to us
