off-line til August

I won't be on the computer much for the rest of the month.  I wish I could say that I've won the lottery and will be too busy sailing around the world on my yacht to go online, but alas, I've yet to win the lottery.  (I've yet to play the lottery, actually, which severely limits my chances of winning the darn thing.)

As it turns out, my body thought it was so much fun having surgery last summer that it's decided to go for Round 2.  Completely different ailment than last time, though.  I have Stage 1 thyroid cancer and am having surgery on July 21.  It's the "good kind" of thyroid cancer, they caught it early, and the prognosis is very, very good.

It still sucks, but there are soooo many ways that this could be sooooooo much worse.

i hope the rest of The Mist is as good as the first 30 minutes

I’m be-bopping along, watching The Mist and surfing the net...la dee da...then at about 26 minutes into the movie:  holy hell.  There’s blood gushing, people screaming, I’m covering my face with my hands and yelling at the TV.

I think this might be a decent horror flick after all. 

I’m logging off, turning off the lights and watching the rest of this movie from under the covers.  Yowsa.

gayle guyardo and gasparilla

Gayle Guyardo was a *most interesting* co-host of WFLA's TV coverage of the Gasparilla Parade today.  TBO.com reports that she "said she had the flu and a fever."  Concerned viewers emailed and called WFLA about her disjointed and slurred commentary, but the news director decided to keep Guyardo on the air.  Did he have the flu also??

Since TBO.com and WFLA are owned by the same company, the comments section on the TBO article was closed.  No Gasparilla beads for them.

I'll be out of touch and off the grid for the rest of the year.  I wish I were popping over to Europe for the holidays, but in reality I'm dropping off of the face of the earth to catch up on my very long and tedious To Do List.

out of the hospital and back online

Had surgery, bought the T-shirt.  (For the very curious, visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/lisac for all the gory details.)

I've been home from the hospital for a few weeks now and am getting along just fine.  Two more weeks before I have to return to work.  Thanks for all the get well wishes.  I appreciate it!
