Eden Moon by Debbie Ramsey
Molly 'Moon Pie' Monroe is swept up in a whirlwind of intrigue and adventure after meeting her idol, rock star Marty Steele, lead singer of the worldwide sensation "The Knights". When Moon Pie enters a contest through her local radio station, the world of a small town, high school girl and that of a globe-trotting rock star collide, changing their lives forever. Through trials and tribulation, through adventure and despair, their passion continues to blossom like a rose.

Chance Encounter by Debbie Ramsey
Grant Alexander is a twenty-seven year old rising star in the world of automobile racing. He's the primary driver for Team ADRS, a family funded NASCAR in the Busch Series.
When Grant exits Gucci's Menswear to inspect the shirts he had just purchased, he notices a woman frantically searching her purse for loose coins to feed into an expired parking meter. Chloe looks up just as Grant realizes that she is without the necessary change. He takes her hand and, looking intently into her eyes, places some money in her palm. Even though each is drawn to the other, neither one utters a word. Grant turns away and leaves her standing on the street only to wonder just who that kind fellow was; but more to the point, how would she ever find him again on the busy streets of Los Angeles.
Eden Moon and Chance Encounter are available at www.amazon.com

The greatest gift is to give of one’s self
Category: Life
Tangent Literary Arts Magazine is greatly involved in community service and volunteer work. For the past several years, the Tangent Magazine staff has taken part in many charitable projects including a clothing drive for Buffalo City Mission, sponsoring a family affected by Hurricane Katrina, a toy collection for the Navajo Child Drive, and the Art and Poetry exhibit for Featherweight Inc. If you are interested in helping any of these organizations, please check out the websites listed below.
Featherweight, Inc. www.featherweightinc.com

Featherweight, Inc is a community based non- profit organization, dedicated to the education and treatment of eating disorders. It was founded by Debbie Begeny after her 22 year old daughter, Heather, died in March 2003 of complications of Anorexia Nervosa and Ipecac abuse.
The goal of Featherweight, Inc. is to use a grassroots approach , locally, to reach out to the public by disseminating information to parents, caregivers, and victims about the warning signs, dangers, and consequences of Anorexia, Bulimia, and other related disorders. While attending events such as health fairs is important, Featherweight, Inc. plans to go where healthy people may not be.
Each year, Featherweight, Inc holds several fundraisers to raise money for eating disorder treatment, research and education. Past fundraisers have included a Garage Sale, Art and Poetry Exhibit, Spaghetti Dinner, 5k Walk and Buffalo Idol contest. They also hold Candlelight Vigils and participate in community health forums.
Featherweight Inc is always looking for new volunteers so if you are interested, contact Jil or Debbie on their website.
Navajo Child Drive www.navajochild.org

The Eastern Navajo Child Drive is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that helps Navajo children in the eastern region Dine'tah (Navajoland). The purpose of this project is to provide Christmas food baskets and a few simple gifts for the neediest children and their families. The families and children that Santa would not otherwise be able to visit.
The Navajo Indian Tribe is the largest federally-recognized tribe in the United States.
Poverty Statistics
The most recent report from the Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development (2000/2001 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy) provides the following information.
-
Median Age (Census Count) 22.5 years
-
Per Capita Income $6.217.00
-
Percent below poverty line 56.1
-
Unemployment Rate 43.65
Most of the housing is inadequate, many of which lack plumbing, phone service and electricity. The dirt roads make travel difficult, especially in the wintertime.
The Navajo Child Drive accepts toy and cash donations year round. Please contact Kathy Spitz if you would like to make a donation. kspitz@navajochild.org
Buffalo City Mission buffalocitymission.org

Buffalo City Mission's vision is to restore hope to the homeless and hurting of Western New York. We provide emergency shelter and nourishing meals to thousands of homeless men, women and children. But we don't believe that's enough.
With the strengths of our Men's Center and our new state-of-the-art shelter for women and children, Cornerstone Manor, Buffalo City Mission provides comprehensive recovery programs to help homeless men, women and children rebuild stable, healthy, productive lives.
Buffalo City Mission accepts new and used clothing, toys, and household items. Donations can be dropped off at the Men's Center. Check out the website for directions.

Resources for Writers
Category: Writing and Poetry
As a self-proclaimed writer, I like to think of writing as something I'm compelled to do, something natural. But occassionally (okay, maybe more than I'd like to admit), writing becomes somewhat of a chore- when I can't find the right words, when I have no inspiration, when I'm writing on a topic I don't feel strongly about- and I need a little push to get my pen flowing across the paper again. During times like these, I find it helpful to seek advice from other writers, to explore the different techniques other word lovers like myself use, to get over the rugged boulder infamously known as writer's block.
Below are some links I've found useful, when it comes to finding writing prompts, tips and other people's stories and advice.
