Now It Seems The Things I’m Looking For Are Way Back There By Market Street

Been a long-ass time since I've updated this... nothing of great significance to announce. Until now.

My mom just got a kick-ass job offer. She'll be getting an almost 15% raise PLUS overtime...

And I'm so happy for her. She deserves this... and this is a great opportunity. She currently works at Fox Sports Net as a "traffics coordiantor" (basically, she runs commercial timeslots and whatnot). Now, she is going to have a manager-ish position for Fox's new network, "The Big 10 Network" (Big 10 college sports).

While this is a really great job and everything... there is one major downside: She'll have to move to Chicago. In one month.

Which means I no longer live in St. Louis.

Now, I haven't really "lived" in St. Louis for about a year. I've been away for college, and only came to St. Louis on breaks or holidays. Hell, even this summer, I've only been in St. Louis for about two-three weeks; I started off working in Springfield, then divided my time between St. Louis, Kansas City, and my Grandparent's house in Illinois.

But I've got SO many friends there. Yes, most of them have gone or are going away for college... but there was always the breaks and holidays in which we can see each other again. Now those will be very, very limited.

I've already talked to a few people about this, and whenever I do come up to visit St. Louis, I'll at least have a place to stay. But my visits will be few and far between. Hopefully I can come up for etc... productions, and maybe an occasional three-day break. But other than that... who knows?

Once winter break comes, I'll have about a full month off. Of course, most of that will be spent with my family, around Christmas and whatnot. But I can try to figure out some times to visit my good friends back home.

Then Spring Break... I really want to go on a real vacation... somewhere like LA or New York (get some Broadway action) or Florida. But I'll only do those things with friends or family. If I don't make any other plans, I'm going to try to stay in St. Louis over all of Spring Break.

And finally, summer... well, that depends on a few things. Whether I do Tent again... or if I do the Midwest Theatre Auditions... or whatever. I really think that my best option would be to do Tent and find an apartment, and call Springfield my official "home." Stay there for the rest of college... and spend the rest of my breaks between family and St. Louis.

It's a lot to think about, these coming months/years. I can only really play it by ear. I'm really happy for my mom, and I'd much rather she leave and make good money than stay. But... this is going to be hard on me.

"Now it seems the things I'm looking for, are way back there by Market Street. Just come, come, come, you come and go!"

-"Market Street" by one of my favorite local St. Louis bands, Seven Star.

Sorry, St. Louis... and, well, the rest of the ASoTeers, really...

So here's the deal...

I am staying in Springfield for the summer.

I have a kickass job here... and my current living situation in St. Louis (quite complicated, don't ask) would basically not allow me to work, due to the fact that I have a car (and if I did have a car, all of my money would go towards gas. I fucking hate Catch-22s).

So, this means that I will unfortunately not be able to play many shows in St. Louis. I MIGHT be able to make it up there at end July or early August... but no guarantees.

This unfortunate part about this for the rest of my ASoTeers is that I will not be able to record for quite some time. I don't see myself living in St. Louis again until mid-December, and that will only be for a month... and summer of '08 might end up being a similar situation.

So is there any good news?

Sort of...

I am going to make a much bigger attempt to find gigs in Springfield this summer... I have only looked around, but never tried. I've been too busy with schoolwork to really concentrate on my music career...

Also... I will be saving my money with this job I have, and some of it will be eventually end up going towards some recording equipment. I just might be able to do some of my own recordings. However, this first thing I'm going to concentrate on is getting a car... because, I fucking need one. So, maybe in a year or so, I might be able to start saving up, and eventually come back in stride.

Until that time, I have a shoddy recording program on my laptop... it's certainly not bad for demoing, but it is limiting compared to what I've done with Mike Steimel. So I'll still be able to share some new songs, but they won't be as good... nor will I be able to put a record out in the foreseeable future.

I love you all... keep rocking, keep laughing.

NEW SONG! "BABY DAUGHTER!"
Current mood: excited

That's right, my latest song is finally ready to go!

Fair warning... it's a song that will offend. If you do not like that sort of thing, then don't listen to it. If you listen to it still and feel offended, then maybe you should have listened to it.

Some of my fans might know the song... it's called "Baby Daughter." However... some of you may be blissfully unaware that I added a verse and another chorus, as well as put it some extra goodies at the end.

Props to my producer, Mike Steimel. The man is fucking amazing.

Why are you still reading this? LISTEN TO MY SONG!!!!!

The Pianist Stylings of Tassell? PLUS, my college theatre debut!

So, lately, I've been fucking around on the piano.

I've always had one piano song... I haven't played it for two reasons: 1. I've never performed with piano access, and 2. Most of my shows were played at The Attic, and I could never... EVER... play that particular song there (I won't give it away just yet, but it's hilarious. I can't even tell you the title of the song without giving it away.)

But now I've been just screwing around on it, and have come up with some pretty cool shit. One thing I think I might end up doing is record both guitar and piano on one of my favorite songs, "Stubborn."

I also have some other stuff with no words or concept yet... just a random piano melody. It's some pretty exciting stuff I've got going. Once I start writing the lyrics, I'm sure it will change completely... but for now, I'm just doing my thing.

In other news... I'm about to be making my college theatre debut, in a hilarious original One-Act called "Joggyfatcho, the French-Speaking Monkey, and his Friend, Master Satan." I play Master Satan... sort of. I can't explain it, you'll just have to see it for yourself! Missouri State University, February 2-3. More details TBA!

ASoT Music Video? That's right!

I'm in the middle of recording a music video for my new song, "Dilemma."

That's right, a music video.

It's not professional or anything, just something I'm whipping up on my MacBook.

The reason WHY: Because "Dilemma" is not JUST a song joke. It's a visual joke. You would need to see me play in order to get the joke.

That being said, it's fucking awesome. Think Kaki King if you know who she is, but a lot simpler.

The video is funny... I'm playing the guitar part, while I'm "thinking" the lyrics. I expect it to be bigger than the OK Go treadmill video on YouTube. :cough:

The video will hopefully be up by this weekend!

I wrote a new, KICKASS song!

WOW!!!
I just wrote a fucking AWESOME song.

Seriously. I haven't been this excited over something I wrote in ages.

It will be my show-stealer. Fuck "Baby Girl." FUCK "SOUL MATE", FUCK "PETER!" THIS IS IT!!!

All I can tell you is that it's called "Dillema."
