Yet another similarity between me and Celine Dion
Current mood: Celine-ish

This is sad.  I was just on celinedion.com looking at the pictures of the wax statue of her that was just unveiled at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas.  I was comparing it to the one at the Musee Grevin in Paris, and concluded that the one in Vegas looks much more realistic.

Then I came to this realization:

"Oh my God, Celine and I have the same shape forehead..."

This is a sad and yet strangely funny commentary on my Celine obsession.

In other news, today is the 21st day in a row that I have worn a skirt or a dress...  :)  I'm such a dork...

It's almost Friday - hooray!
Current mood: happy

Yes!  It's almost Friday!  This week my classes have been such a drag.  I just want it to be summer at this point.  So burnt out on school right now.

Distractions have been numerous, but mostly include a few social activies here and there, the gorgeous weather, and of course the extremely sweet guy I'm dating.  Oh yeah.

So it's almost Friday, which means... class in the morning, then weekend!!!!!  Tomorrow is day ten in my see-how-many-days-in-a-row-I-can-wear-a-skirt-or-dress challenge.  :)  Playing tennis with M in the afternoon again, looking forward to that.  Then some "24" later on... we're watching the DVDs of season 2, very addictive.

There's been so much running through my head lately, so many different things both good and bad to think about, but overall I'm happy.  I'm really happy.  Life is an incredible thing.

Ah, spring!
Current mood: cheerful

Feeling much better this week.  Tonsils totally infected last week, spent the week on pain medication and in bed.  SCU health center insisted I had mono, despite two negative blood tests, and also the fact that it was just my tonsils, nothing else.  All better now, and great timing too because the weather was warm this week.  All sunny and nice and spring-ish outside!  It's great!

I can start wearing my skirts and dresses again... I think I'm going to see how many days in a row I can wear a skirt or dress.  Today is day number two.  The scary thing is that I could go three weeks straight wearing skirts and not wear the same one twice.  I own more of them than pairs of pants.

Ah, I love spring!

Urban Dictionary

When slang words come my way and I have no clue what they mean, I look them up on urbandictionary.com.  Lately I've taken to browsing the site when I'm "taking a break" from studying.

My latest finds, that I find especially amusing:

Virgitarian

Painting The Crackhouse

Cat Killer (the first definition, not the second!)

Roe vs Wade - For Men
Current mood: pensive

CNN.com Blog

This caught my eye a few minutes ago... very interresting topic.  The way I look at it is that it is the woman's body and she should have the last say as to whether or not she wants to carry a child.  I agree with one of the people commentating on the blog when they say that two people need to know where the other stands on the issue of abortion and unwanted pregnancy before they become sexually active.

10 year plan
Current mood: amused

Wow.  I was just searching for a file on my laptop and came across "Lisa's Ten Year Plan" which I wrote exactly a year ago yesterday.  There are a few pretty funny things on there.  This was during my it-would-be-so-neat-to-live-in-France-for-a-year-after-graduation phase.  "Celine in Vegas" - planned for early 2006 (with my current bank account balance, yeah right!), and early 2007 (still planning on this one!)

This is the real trip though - get this - I actually put "fall in love" on there!  I scheduled it in!  The approximate date for this was recorded as a question mark, but from the placement on the chart, I expected this to happen sometime between the age of 25 and 27.  Age 28 - get married.  Age 32 - have kids.  WTF?????  How the hell can you plan any of this?????  I thought I could.  My naive little 21-year-old mind.  So much changes in a year.

Passionate - Part Deux (or D'eux, if you care for a Celine play on words!)
Current mood: Passionate (still)

Okay, I admit it, I'm sick.  Remember my "What is life without passion" blog?

Mmmm... first we have the newest source of passion in my life...  M...  whom I spent a little time with on Friday...  mon Dieu!  C'est vraiment fantastique!  C'est comme si ma coeur est vivant pour le premier fois.  Mes doigts sont croise!

Okay, moving on to the boring, less news worthy item - we have the Celine addiction coming into play on Sunday, when I bought "Always Belong" on my way back to SCU from Salinas.  Belong is still my favorite, followed by Notes, but Always Belong is better than the original Celine Dion scent.  Overall grade for Always Belong : B-

So here's a pic of my dorm counter top area, with NINE Celine Dion Parfums products.  And the sad thing is that I have more at home.  Anyway, Always Belong is the purple bottle at the front... It's so cute!  :)

Morals and values (I just need to vent a little right now)
Current mood: reflective

A few weeks ago in leadership class we answered a bunch of questions and got an analysis of what our personal values are.  My top value:

Self-worth : feeling positive about yourself.

* This value is central to how you see and define yourself
* You won't willingly violate this, or allow others to violate it for any length of time
* Must be satisfied for you to be engaged and motivated

I suppose it's partially because of this class, but I've been thinking a lot lately about what morals and values I possess/believe in.  I think that self-worth is very important, and the need for me to feel good about myself affects how I behave in life.

"Love yourself first and everything else will fall into line." - Lucille Ball

People aren't always accepting of who you are, and that's something that just needs to be dealt with.  I realize that I'm different, that I'm not "normal", that I have my quirks.  I have lapses back into doubt, mostly triggered by the SCU environment, but overall I see myself improving.

There will always be people trying to get you to drift away from what you believe in.  There is strength in standing up for yourself and holding true to your core values.

Question - opinions please!
Current mood: Passionate

The question I've been thinking about recently:

"What is life without passion?"  - Lisa

I posted it on my dorm room door last night, just for a change, to try to be all deep and thoughtful...  But seriously, what is life without passion?

Consulting my super old 1966 thesaurus:
Passion: vehemence, fire, heat, desire, infatuation, flame, sexual desire, rage, craze, fad, appetite, fancy.
Passionate: vehement, inflamed, fiery, fervent, warm, amorous, desirous.

It's amusing that the concept of passion can encompass everything from interests to violence to love to sex.  Sexual passion - ow! ow!  As much as I adore talking about sex, I think I'll just stick to the interests area for now.  :)

If I'm not passionate about something, I'm not very motivated.  When there's something I truly love, I absorb myself into it so completely that it often becomes a part of who I am.

My passions or "obsessions" as they might also be dubbed - tennis, jewelry making, Celine Dion, French culture, photography, etc. - without them, I wouldn't be the same person.  Think I'd still have some traits... still be kind, compassionate, loving, creative, imaginative... still have doubt in myself, still be nervous socially... still have great family and friends... however, I don't think I'd be complete.  Not as much spark.  Not as fullfilled emotionally.

Topic open for discussion!  What is life without passion?

Stuff I want from the Celine Boutique...
Current mood: Celine-ish

Okay, so check this out, I can get a set of TWO Celine Dion shot glasses (new boutique item!) for $14...  Special deal exclusively for TeamCeline members, I feel so special.  Her name is in gold on them - how pimp!

I haven't bought her new perfume "Always Belong" yet...

And I want this shirt too...  I have the cute black tank top with the same embroidery (which they have since stopped making)...

And since my existing "Celine Dion A New Day..." travel coffee tumbler is completely beat up from using it so much, I think I need a replacement.  Think I'd go with the red one...

Busy, busy, busy...
Current mood: hopeful

So much going on!  It's just crazy all the stuff that's happening, mostly extremely good but still a few minor setbacks.

Have a paper this week, a paper next week, a midterm in two days...  But also a class trip to Google next Monday.  Google!  How cool is that?  I love entrepreneurship class!  Best class ever.  I flat out cold called Tarina Tarantino's PR person last week and asked for a 10-15 minute interview with Tarina for my class project.  They're sending me a press kit, and trying to work something out...  It would be so exciting if I could actually interview her about her business, designs, etc.  www.tarinatarantino.com  check it out!  Fab and funky jewelry.

Drove to Aromas to visit Emily (who was house/dog sitting there) over the weekend.  She just got her leg in a cast, not too happy about it, which is completely understandable.  Anyway, she got me this cola flavored PEZ, which I just tried about a minute ago and it is really weird!  It's definately cola flavored...  Can almost taste the fizz.

The last week and a half have been so great!  I'm just feeling good about life, love, opportunities, etc.  Incredible things can happen when you least expect them to... and on that note, when you wait a long time for something to happen, and it finally does, it's a lot of times even better than you had anticipated.

There is so much sadness in the world - so many horrible things happening to good people.  If hope, love, and faith in life can endure, that's all we really need, don't you think?

One year anniversary
Current mood: Celine-ish

Today is the one year anniversary of me seeing Celine in Vegas.  :)  I'm a little sad, a little SCF-ish today.  I can't believe it's been a whole year!  I really need to go back to Vegas again.  And next time I go, I need a front row seat.  Not that 7th row wasn't great...  but front row, wow, I would be a total wreck!

And so happy christmas, I hope you had fun...
Current mood: content

... the rich and the poor ones, the old and the young, a very merry christmas, and a happy new year, lets hope it's a good one, without any fear...

A year ago tomorrow I heard Celine sing that song LIVE.

Christmas was good as usual.  Brunch with the sexy tennis girls x-mas eve.  Opened gifts that night.  Picked out my "big gift" a few weeks prior (long black coat w/kick butt embroidery).  Got a new suitcase (which I wasn't initially thrilled with until I realized I can use it for my next trip to Vegas to see Celine).  Got a 1 GB zip drive!  Yay!  Got the cutest mini iron ever, perfect for dorm room, or packing in suitcase for next Vegas trip.

Got two gifts from "Celine Dion" aka GINA.  One was two shopping bags from the vegas boutique, obviously left over from last year.  The other was a small stuffed frog that ribbits when you squeeze it.  Not an "official" Celine frog, but still very cute.

Drove Christmas day to the grandparent's in Cool.  Last x-mas at that house since they're moving this next year.  Nice seeing everyone again.  Auntie Joan had me for the gift exchange.  She gave me a cute brown dress I can wear over jeans, a metallic gold scarf, a sequin sweater, and a jamba juice card.  The funny thing is that I already had a sweater identical to the one she gave me, except in a different color.  I LOVE that sweater!  I'm glad to have another one, and it shows she was right on target with the gift.  :)

Took 5.5 hours instead of the normal 4 to get home Monday afternoon.  That was fun.  Gearing up for 13 hours to and from Tucson next week...

Still mad at Sony Music, but I've gotta give them props on this one...

Sony Music has done many things over the years to frustrate and upset Celine fans.  Most recently (two months ago) they released Celine's new 2 disc french greatest hits cd... and it included malicious software that automatically installs itself on your computer, allowing easy access to hackers, etc.  I have the f 'ing virus, there's a patch somewhere out there, but it supposedly doesn't work.  Grrrrrr...  Only the 100 or so die-hards in the US who bought the CD were effected by this, as the software was not on the Canadian or French versions.  And I was THISCLOSE to special ordering the CD from France so I could get the special edition packaging... I really hate Sony Music.

But they redemed themselves today, at least partially.  I am SO pleased with Celine's On Ne Change Pas DVD that just came out yesterday.  It it unbelieveable!

Finally!  Finally there is a good collection of Celine's French music videos!  I would have been perfectly happy with the 17 videos on the DVD, but wait!  There are extras!  Lots of extras!  Live concert material, inside footage of the recording of 2 CDs and 2 videos, and three bonus videos!  Lisa is very happy.

And an added bonus - I can finally delete the crappy low quality mpeg's that are taking up space on my hard drive.  :)  Lisa is very happy.

By now, no one is reading this, but what the heck, I'm having fun, so I'll continue.  Here's my review of the content of the DVD:

Les Clips:
1 - L'amour existe encore - classic early 90's Celine.  Very touching video, with shots of Celine singing in what appears to be a barn (wtf?) and shots of other story lines as well.

2 - Je danse dans ma tete - wow!  early 90's Celine again.  Cameo appearance by Luc Plamondon totally caught me off guard!  Really UGLY clothing that Celine's wearing (bustier and chaps, anyone?)

3 - Ziggy (un garcon pas comme les autres) - haven't seen the HQ footage of guy's asses yet, but I remember them from the mpegs I have!  :)  Very controversial video, all about how Celine is in love with this guy (Ziggy) but the catch is, he's gay.

4 - Des mots qui sonnent - Oh great, I can't remember... I'll watch again and update this.

5 - Lolita (trop jeune pour aimer) - I didn't know a video existed for this!  Really bad late 80's clothing!  Lots of gold lame, acid wash jean jacket, and the short permed hair, mon Dieu!  Great footage of Celine walking along city streets, and sitting on the top of a double decker bus.

6 - Incognito - "the cutesy incognito sunglasses".  Oh yes.  Great sunglasses, neon sign that says the title of the song, bad clothes, it's all there.

7 - Fais ce que tu voudras - muted colors, takes place at a train station and on the train.  Celine's 80's clothes actually not looking that bad in this one.

8 - Pour que tu m'aimes encore - breathtaking in it's imagery, as well as the lyrics and Celine's voice.  One of my all time favorites.  Done in sepia tones.... Celine alone in a room playing with marionettes, setting a table, doing voodoo, then the room goes up in flames and Celine walks the city streets in a slip dress, cardigan and bare feet.

9 - Je sais pas - Identical footage (except for the beginning) to Next Plane Out.  video in b&w, Celine is watching footage on a movie reel of her and her lover, who has left her I presume, and she's uh, "reliving the passion".  :)

10 - Zora sourit - so sweet!  Zora is a girl who always smiles and spreads kindness, and won't let the people who knock her down keep her from sending her box of donated items to Algeria.  Yeah.  Celine's pictured too, in a gray suit, straight hair, fuzzy backdrop.

11 - S'il suffisait d'aimer - LIVE!  From 1998, and from the looks of it, within a few weeks or even days of the concert I attended!  She looks the same as when I heard her preform this song LIVE, for the very first time.  This is, to date, the only song in French I've heard her sing in concert, in person.  Black pants, black button up shirt, wide red waist sash, super curly hair = I wish I could look like that!

12 - On ne change pas - Lyrically, very beautiful and touching, and the video is the same.  They took a class picture of Celine's from elementary school, tracked down a few classmates (the ones who didn't pick on her, I assume) and did a time lapse-morph thing with their faces, and that's basically the video.

13 - Sous le vent (en duo avec Garou) - This video introduced me to Garou, who has a super sexy raspy voice, and they both look so cute together!  Love the preppy clothes on Garou, and the funky twist on a black button up shirt on Celine.

14 - Tout l'or des hommes - Celine and the "4 types" in the NV desert, in an RV, doing small gigs at local restaurants, wearing Abercrombie (in an attempt to be "cool" or "American"), and Celine having a pillow fight in her underwear with the four guys.  Rene apparently didn't like the pillow fight in the underwear concept, and the footage of Celine in her underwear on a bed with the four guys...  Go Celine!

15 - Et je t'aime encore - black and white footage of Celine, then muted color footage of women paused while doing different things in their daily lives.  All the women are supposed to be symbolic of all the different women who have loved ones who are away... and they still go do what they have to do, but there's a sense of emptyness still.  Or something like that.

16 - Contre nature - gorgeous!  Almost died from shock the first time I saw this!  Celine on a set of a 2 walled house in the middle of the desert, she's waiting for her lover to come back to her.  And then he drives up in his car... oh yes, very cool

17 - Je ne vous oublie pas - cried the first time I saw it.  It's too emotional for me, it's like a "thank you" to her fans, especially those who have been fans for many, many years.  Her dress is really pretty, I want it!

Okay tired of typing... but at least I can look back on this entry in a few months and have a good laugh...
