The 88 Signs With Island Records

THE 88 TO BE FEATURED IN NATIONAL TELEVISION CAMPAIGN FROM RETAIL GIANT SEARS

Licensing Hot Streak Continues on Heels of Major Label Signing

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 16, 2007) - The 88 (www.the88.net) have confirmed the inclusion of their song "Coming Home" in retail giant Sears' upcoming television campaign, which kicked off May 13. The track hails from The 88's latest release, Over and Over.

The 88's ongoing red-hot music licensing streak has netted close to 40 music placements in film, television and advertising since their debut release in 2003. "How Good It Can Be" was originally featured on the premiere season of Fox's The OC, as well as the accompanying soundtrack, Music From The O.C.: Mix 1. Other notable placements include ABC's Grey's Anatomy, the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother (in which the band also appeared and performed as themselves), a number of national television advertising campaigns for international brands, and hit major motion pictures such as You, Me and Dupree and Failure To Launch.

Buoyed by this success, The 88 have signed with Island Def Jam Records (www.islandrecords.com), whose roster of superstar international artists includes bands such as Fall Out Boy, The Killers and The Bravery. "The 88 have shown that they have the work ethic, determination, good fortune, and most importantly great songs to make it in this ever-changing musical landscape," said Executive Vice President of A&R for Island, Rob Stevenson. "We're so happy to have them join the Island family because they're so damn cool!"

Recently, The 88 recorded three tracks with Grammy-winning producer Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds for their upcoming album, currently planned for an early 2008 release. "It was refreshing to go into the studio with a unique band that takes such pride in both their sound and their songwriting," said Edmonds. "The 88 are the real deal." Further studio time with Babyface is in the works for the summer as the band continues to write new material for their major label debut.

Said KCRW Music Director and Host of "Morning Becomes Eclectic", Nic Harcourt, "Since a mutual friend gave me their first album, Kind of Light, we knew it was just a matter of time until the rest of the world would get to hear this great band."

The 88 has appeared on high profile national shows such as The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel Live and NBC's Last Call With Carson Daly, as well as MTV News, Extra!, Current TV and many others. They are managed by Susan Markheim and Paul Geary of Front Line Management. A West Coast headlining club tour is being booked for July 2007 by Dave Kaplan of The Agency Group.
