My Project, Part II
I'm still gathering information on the topics I hope to illustrate in my project. The topic I'm currently working on deals with the problem known as Black-on-Black crime or violence. Even though the term itself is irrelevant and fundementally racist, there is still an urgency going on with the high rate of blacks harming or killing other blacks. I am currently researching on the causes as well as the remedies. After this topic, I will dive into the issue of so many Black men in prison. A while ago I asked if anyone knows someone in prison, going to prison, or have been in prison to help me with this issue. The favor still stands. I've also been reading the book "Why Are So Many Black Men in Prison" by Demico Boothe. I also want you to know that I haven't forgotten about you all. I will still make socially conscious cartoons and small comics from time to time. Thank you for reading. Take care and keep up the good fight. -Will Capers

My Project (written blog)
I've taken a break from drawing cartoons and comics as I stated a few months ago. During those months I've been contemplating on the creation of a project of illustrations and words; in short it's a comic book.
In the past I have announced working on original comic books starting my own characters, but I didn't have enough discipline to complete any of them. Nor did I have the know-how on how to compose one. Actually, I'm still an amateur at it. Plus, I always seem to create new better stories in my head.
The plan I have for this book is different. It won't be a superhero comic. It will--kind of--be a fictitious docu-comic. It's main focus will touch on subjects that will not be easy to confront. It will likely be offensive, harsh, and even horrifc. Yet, there will be truths exposed and they will be harsh truths. It will talk about racism and the problems within Black America and America in general as well as the movements to generate real change.
Right now, I am researching on one subject at a time. My first topic will be about the crisis known as black-on-black crime. Even though there really is no such thing, I still want to research the problem destroying young black lives. The most important thing I want to find out is why.
There was one article passed around by 'THE MOVEMENT" that could be beneficial. Unfortunately, it was circulated before I even thought about making this comic. So, now I must find as much research as possible to make this project powerful.
As a side note I will also make the usual cartoons and comics every now and then for circulation.
I hope this project will succeed where CNN's "Black in America" failed.
