I’m lame and I love it.
Current mood: giddy

FUCK ME!!!

I just saw the new IronMan commercial that ran during last night's Daily Show. It ran long. Two minutes and twenty four seconds and I loved every one that ticked by. I felt so giddy afterward. My heart was pumping fast. Still is. Is that retarded? I don't care! It looks totally badass and I can't wait. Robert Downey Jr. is perfect for Tony Stark. I loved that comic as a kid and it looks like they did it right. I CAN'T WAIT! WOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOO

hmm...

I'm on pause

I did it myself. I've gotta look around and find that fucking remote.
People are calling and I'm not picking up cause that would disturb the strange quiet I've been cultivating.
My boy is watching those Spiderman cartoons. I love em and I hate em. What, did they run out of time or money? There's only, like, two animated frames comprising the entire episode. Thrifty.

Writing has been oddly activating. I should do this more often. The overcast has burned off. Time to start the day. It's 11:03.

A good night.

Went out on Sunday with a group of people who comprised a good chunk of the drama department at my high school. We saw a production of Proof that my high school theater teacher was doing which he knocked out of the park. It was really touching to see him performing so remarkably for an audience with many of the people that he personally inspired to start acting in the first place (me included). Afterwards the gathering retired to a nearby bar for drinks and a little catching up. I had the first martini that didn't make me think, "I just don't get why people drink these!" I was also turned on to a great bourbon named Booker's. I had been a Maker's Mark fan for a long time but learned recently that they add coloring to keep the batches consistent. It was a really good night with old friends and great drinks in a calm, warm evening; the kind of night you want to walk to where you've got to get. And it felt like we had it all to ourselves. It wasn't rushed (though it did end early because not everyone can be an unemployed actor) and it was a good small mix of folks (though I didn't get as much time for all the catching up I wanted to do). Leaving the bar I didn't have any of the pent-up drive for excess, the hesitation to call it quits, the manic impulse to drunk dial and harass people I hadn't spoke to in years. I breathed deep, smile on face. Got home to a smiling wife and tore into a bag of microwave popcorn, a soda and a pint of chocolate malted crunch. Good night.

Peter O'Toole
Current mood: awake

...Doesn't look very good. And he didn't win. I felt really bad for him. Like the Academy was digging his grave so that all he had to do was fall into it. I didn't see The Last King Of Scotland. I heard a lot of folks talk about how great Forest Whitaker was but I never heard anyone say how good the movie was. Quite the opposite. I'm sure Venus was much the same.

I don't get how Martin Scorsese won Best Director for The Departed. I thought it was a sympathy vote until it won Best Picture too. Now, granted I saw the film after all the hype, but I've seen Martin Scorsese films. I've had my cinematic sensibilities altered and permanently imprinted by Martin Scorsese films. The Departed made no impact on me whatsoever except a general wash of confusion.

I'd have sex with Helen Mirren. A lot.

I thought Elen Degeneres did a good job hosting.

Today I'm going to get tickets for The Police concert at Dodger Stadium (along with every other citizen of L.A., Orange, Ventura, and Riverside Counties as well). I'm going to spend more money that I have ever conceived of on these tix but I'm weirdly o.k. about that. If The Smiths ever announced they were reuniting for a concert tour I'd do the same. This event will be totally ephemeral but there's always the possibility of new material. Spending some time together, finding their groove again, maybe jamming some. Sure its their hits they'll be playing in concert but how could guys as creative and prolific as they are refuse the muse? I'm going to look at this world tour as the precurser to another studio effort. Maybe a new album and another world tour to follow?

Hey. I don't know who's out there. Just licking my fingertip and checking which way the wind is blowing.
