The next one is a very unusual demo, found in a bin in the Dakota building! it sounds like John but is it?, anybody know out there!

The next batch are requests to upload again so here they are ’Good morning, Good morning’ recorded live in 1967! *

and lastly a remix 2008 style of ’Strawberry fields’ play this to your teenagers and don’t tell them who the band are!

New Songs for February

Ok, Ringo's cheeky humour does not go down well with his fellow scousers with his comments on the Jonathan Ross show, and the old tired comments were back again, concerning Ringo's drumming albility, well you judge for yourself with a rare recording of Ringo just bashing about!.

Also as we are into instrumentals this month a few little Beatles instrumental rarities from their wild Cavern and Hamburg day's or maybe they were recorded somewhere else?

enjoy the tracks.

Happy Birthday John New John songs uploaded

A very special day today the 9th of October, it would have been Johns 67th birthday today, its still hard to believe he's not with us and even harder to think how long ago he passed. its still as vivid in my mind as if it happened yesterday, a senseless and tragic act that will forever be remembered

To remember the great man I've uploaded a few more little jem's for this month starting off with a very rare Lennon recording not John or any of his son's but John's father Alfred Lennon.

Track 1 "That's my life" Fred Lennon 1965 Pye Records.

This is a rare one, some might say a cash in, but it does have its charm, although you do wonder where John inherited his voice from, it certainly was not from his dad!. A press release from the 1965 Pye records release of this single follows and throws some unknown light on Johns musical ancestory!

'Fifty-three-year-old Freddie Lennon, father of John, has made his first record. It is entitled: 'That's My Life (My Love And My Home)'. 'Mr. Lennon has been an entertainer in an amateur capacity for most of his life.

He comes from a musical family. His father, who was one of the original Kentucky Minstrels, taught him to sing when he was young. Most of Freddie's childhood was spent in an orphanage, as he was born into a large family and in those difficult times parents could not afford to feed so many children.

At the orphanage Freddie always took a major part in concerts, played his harmonica to the other children and generally showed an inclination towards the stage. He once sang at a theatre but the orphanage authorities were dismayed at the thought of one of their boys going onto the stage, and Freddie's early dreams were quickly dampened.

After leaving the orphanage at the age of fifteen Freddie worked in an office, but the call of the sea was strong and he joined his first ship as bell-boy at the age of sixteen. He stayed at sea for twenty-five years and travelled the world. Freddie was always connected with entertainment on board ship and has acted as compere, has produced numerous concerts, sang in New York clubs and has even conducted an orchestra in Lisbon. He has many interesting stories to relate about his adventures at sea.

At the age of twenty-five Freddie married and his son John was born three years later. John was the only child of the marriage.

When he finished working at sea twelve years ago Freddie took a job as a waiter, and he later worked in holiday camps at northern resorts. He came to live in London seven year ago. Over the years Freddie has always been interested in songwriting, but he never took it seriously. Six months ago he met Tony Cartwright who is now his manager. Together they wrote: 'That's My Life (My Love And My Home)' - a story about Freddie's life. The song was taken to a music publisher and was accepted, and subsequently recorded.'

By the close of 1967 father and son were reconciled and Fred often dropped around to John's house in Kenwood for a visit. A romantic relationship had begun between Fred and nineteen-year-old student Pauline Jones. (At 56 Fred was almost three times Pauline's age).

When Fred proposed to Pauline her parents were furious and had her made a ward of court, but the pair eloped to Scotland where they married. They then went to live in Brighton in a flat for which John paid the rent. When their first son David was born they took the baby to see John at Tittenhurst Park. John threw them out, the meeting with his new half-brother evoking many painful memories for him.

Years later when Fred was dying John spoke to him by 'phone from America on several occasions, even though his father could barely respond due to his illness. Alfred Lennon died from cancer on April 1st 1976. When John offered to pay the funeral expenses Pauline refused his help. John, tired of saying good-bye, did not attend the funeral.

Tracks 2-4

These are some of my favorite John Lennon songs, these are taken from home and studio sessions and so features John performing the songs in early versions on acoustic guitar, his voice comes across much more clearly on these recordings, John was a big fan of double tracking his voice or layering it in a rich mix of echo, here a more natural inimate atmosphere is present, they are simply stunning recordings.

My life, recorded at the Dakota, home recording 1980

Oh my love, from the 8 track Imagine sessions 1971, George Harrison, Guitar

Watching the wheels, recorded at the Dakota, home recording 1980.

Hope you enjoy the tracks and that you will light a candle for John and for peace.

New songs The Monkees vs The Beatles

There is a debate concerning which was the best group The Monkee's or The Beatles?, well there would not have been a Monkees without The Beatles thats for sure!, as to the music, well it wasn't until a few years into their career that The Monkees actually began to release records (the first being the LP Headquarters) with themselves playing their instruments!, The Beatles however always played their own, with the exception of Ringo who for the groups first single was replaced by Alan White a session drummer, Ringo played Maraccas!, but its Ringo on all the rest!.

But imagine if The Monkees and The Beatles had got together!, well here is the result.

Track 1

Paperback Believer.

A mix of Paperback writer and Daydream believer, who say's The Monkee are just a copy of The Beatles?

Track 2

Pleasant Dr Robert

A mix of Dr Robert and Pleasant Valley Sunday, far out man!

A special mention to American tribute bands 'Paperback Writer' and 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' for the photograph, please note the tracks are not from the above groups.

New Songs

Good morning, Good morning, Live 1967

imagine if The Beatles did Sgt Pepper Live in 1967, well imagine no more this is The Beatles performance of 'Good morning Good morning live in 1967? or is it!

Take me back

Paul McCartney has in recent years got down with the kids and experimented with alsorts of audio experiments, loops, backwards sounds, unusual instruments ect, he was even doing it in the 60's as this little snippet of a extra bit the the White album sessions shows.

Strawberry Fields are forever / The Void

George Martin recently did the Love project messing about with the Beatles music, adding songs together that didn't originally go together, some people thought it was the best Beatle thing since, well, the last best Beatle thing, but what could you do with just the original songs, remixed for todays dance market, well try 'Strawberry Fields' and 'Tomorrow never knows' and this is what you could get!

No MBE for Brian?, please sign!

Here's another angle from a famous photo showing Beatles manager Brian Epstein in the side lines watching the Beatles proudly showing off their MBE's. The Beatles joked that MBE stood for Mr Brian Epstien, but Brian did not recieve any official notification for the work he did in securing the group there woldwide fame and as a result the income into the goverments hands in taxes from our overseas friends.

Is there a sad look on Brians face?, or is it one of proudness, for is boy's,  I see a man standing proud, but also I think its a sad photo in a way, he should have been acknowledged, but its not too late.

Although it is not possible for Brian to recieve an MBE, I think that of all the people who had a part in The Beatles rise to fame Brian is the unsung hero, he is not even recognised in Liverpool, statues to all Four Beatles have graced parts of Liverpool, streets have been named after them, shops and bars have their names, but Brian Epstien's name is not to be seen.

I personally believe that a statue or some memorial should be in place for Brian, but as this is not on the cards as of yet, I have signed the on line petition to have Brian inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of fame, if you feel the same way then please visit www.brianepstein.com and sign the on line petition
