The first thing that I want to do is ask you two questions, and please .. take a minute to ponder them before moving on: 1. Are you dissatisfied with the way that you look and/ or feel, do to excess weight, fatigue, stress, or ageing?
I asked myself these exact same questions just over 4 months ago, and of course the answer was a resounding, yes! My name is Wayne, and I am 39 years old. I am a physician assistant and work two jobs. I make a decent living but somehow, it..s just never enough. I..m married and have two kids and we rent a very nice little apartment in upstate New York. Life is pretty good; I certainly can..t complain .. we do alright, yet at the same time I know that our chances of owning our own home anytime soon are fairly slim. We just can..t save any money .. period. I could easily afford a mortgage; I just can..t come up with the necessary down payment needed to qualify for one. Frustrating right? Compounding this frustration was the way that I felt physically. Over the past several years, I..d gotten to feeling pretty run down. I work a lot and spend long hours in surgery which, for all its many rewards, can be extremely stressful. I rarely have time to eat regular meals, so I often eat on the go or at odd hours and more often than not .. eat the wrong kinds of food. Now, I..ve always been a ..big boy,.. but to be honest, I have to admit that I..d passed out of that part of town a few years ago. I..ve now entered ..obeseville,.. with my top weight equaling 320 pounds. I felt tired all the time, like I couldn..t get enough sleep and all attempts I made to diet and exercise ended in utter failure. Eventually I gave up trying and began to accept that this was simply the way that I was, and probably always would be. Many of you, I..m sure, can relate all too well. Others probably relate at least partially. Not everyone is as overweight as me, and many of you aren..t overweight at all .. but I think most people can relate to feelings of fatigue and the combined effects of over-stress, over-work, and poor nutrition. A few months ago, while walking my dog one evening and gazing at the stars, I began to pray. It was a beautiful night and the stars were bright in the clear sky. In my prayer, I asked God for help with two things. One, I asked for help to lose weight so I could feel better. I was far too young to feel the way that I felt all the time and I needed a change so I could get on with enjoying life again. Number two, was something I had never asked God for before .. not directly anyway. I asked for him to show me a way to make more money (there, I said it!). I didn..t want to have to work as hard as I do for the rest of my life; I definitely didn..t want to have to continue working two jobs forever. And I was working two jobs and still couldn..t get ahead! There simply had to be a better way and I asked God to help me find it.
The answer to my prayer came approximately one week later and I have to admit that I almost didn..t recognize it at the time. In fact, I didn..t recognize it at the time. I almost missed it completely .. but luckily for me, God chose to work through my wife on this occasion.
