New Album News!

Following their fifth consecutive number 1 album last year, the Grammy award winning 'We Are The Night', The Chemical Brothers return with 'Brotherhood' a best of collection with a kick and a twist, set for release on 1st September 2008.

The Chemical Brothers have established themselves as true pioneers of electronic music and have become one of the most popular dance acts of all time. Now seems the perfect time to take stock of their seminal output with the double disc celebration that is Brotherhood.

Brotherhood comprises of 2 discs, the first is a collection of 13 undeniable benchmark Singles from the band's immense back catalogue and new track 'Keep My Composure' which features the shimmering flow of Baltimore's Spank Rock.

The 2nd will feature exclusively Electronic Battle Weapons 1-10. Since 1996 Electronic Battle Weapons have acted as the laboratories for The Chems devious musical experiments and laid the rhythmic and melodic foundations for numerous tracks as well as providing some of the duos most formidable mixes. Until now Electronic Battle Weapons 1-9 have only been available on various limited formats and this is the first time they have been widely available.

Brotherhood will be preceded by the digital download single Midnight Madness on 4th August 2008. Derived and developed from Electronic Battle Weapons 10, Midnight Madness is The Chemical Brothers at their most infectious, euphoric, report to the dancefloor best.

GATECRASHER: A MESSAGE FROM THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS
Category: Music

Dear Chemical brothers and sisters,

On Sunday night we were unable to play the Gatecrasher event due to extreme weather, which had made the stage dangerous. No other acts were able to perform on the stage all day due to these unforeseen conditions.

Our crew arrived 24 hours ahead of the stage time and were fully prepared for the show to go ahead, but it was mutually agreed by all parties involved that the stage was not safe due to the extreme weather conditions and particularly constant rain, which was blowing onto the stage by the non-prevailing wind.

Unfortunately we were unable to relocate to a tent due to crowd safety concerns.

We regret letting down the people that had come to see us. In 14 years of playing live shows we have never been in a position where it has been impossible to play a show due to weather.

Yours,

The Chemical Brothers

Thank you New Zealand and Australia; New live dates
Current mood: sleepy
Category: Dreams and the Supernatural

Greetings Chemical Brothers and Sisters,

Well, the dust is settling on the Brothers journey down under and by all accounts it was a grand tour with many happy faces, new friends and great events.

So a big thanks from the Chems for the love and good times - to the fans, the crew, the agent, the promoters, the folks that looked after the band and all those folks that do the things that make a tour a success.

Now there was also some apparent uproar from what seems to be a fairly passionate group of "Ultra-Salmonites", who are still even now somewhere seemingly fuming over the absence of "The Salmon Dance" from the live set.

Simply put, the band like song too - but have not yet found a way to do it live that they are satisfied with. It’s quality control. Call me old-fashioned, but I find that a principle of appreciable merit.

However - there’s a deep and rich catalogue of songs - and one man’s "Salmon Dance" is another man’s "Leave Home". Who knows, maybe next time...

The good news for those of you hoping to catch the Chems live at last is that there are new dates that you may or may not have noticed added to the Upcoming Shows section - and here they are:

Date Venue

25 May 2008 Northamptonshire - England - Summer Sound System

20 Jun 2008 Bremen, Germany - Hurricane Festival

26 Jun 2008 Munich, Germany - Southside Music Festival

3 Jul 2008 Belgium - Rock Werchter Festival

5 Jul 2008 Denmark - Roskilde Festival

6 Jul 2008 Poland - Gdansk Heineken Festival

17 Jul 2008 Switzerland - Guerten Festival

30 Aug 2008 London, UK - Kensington Olympia

A good time will be had. Plus at least one clown that scares some people.

Now go over to the official website and poke around a bit

More stuff soon, but for now love from all in chemical land...

CHEMICAL BROTHERS NOMINATED FOR TWO MORE GRAMMYS!
Current mood: pleased
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

Greetings Chemical Brothers and Sisters,

The Chemical Brothers have been nominated for two GRAMMY® awards!

Their sixth album, We Are The Night was nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Album, while the first single off that album, "Do It Again" was nominated for Best Dance Recording.

This is certainly not the first time the GRAMMY® Awards have recognized the band.

The Chemical Brothers had won two GRAMMY® Awards, sweeping the electronic/dance category at the 48th annual GRAMMY Awards two years ago. The band picked up the award for "Best Dance Recording" category for their track "Galvanize" (featuring Q-Tip).

"Galvanise" was taken from the album Push The Button, which also won the award for "Best Electronic/Dance Album".

The band also won a GRAMMY Award in 1998 for "Best Rock Instrumental" for "Block Rockin' Beats".

In addition, they were nominated in the "Best Dance Recording" category in 2004 for "Get Yourself High" (featuring k-os).

Thanks from Tom and Ed to everyone that voted for them - and congratulations to the other nominees.

Peace and Love,

Errol
