I know it's been forever and I apologize for the lack of blogs and news but we Cliks needed some time away to get refreshed so we can come back at ya with all the might we have.
The summer in Toronto has not been much of a summer actually. We've had the most rain this summer in record history. Of course we did! We were home! Why would anyone want us to be able to go outside and move our legs seeing as we've spent most of the last 2 years in a van.No, no, no, that would make way too much sense.Do I sound bitter?
Well, it hasn't been all bad. I've been able to go to a lovely cottage in Northern Ontario in an area called Muskoka, for all our non-Canadian fans who have no idea of the beauty that this country has to offer, it is just beautiful.Went swimming a little but truthfully the water was F-ING cold and it was mainly on dares. Of course now that summer is coming to an end, the rain has stopped. Yeah, I love it.
Other things I've been doing this summer: Obsessively reading Harry Potter books and if anyone divulges anything to me about the last book which I am now reading- You Die!, eating, not exercising, rekindling my love of red wine, sleeping, drinking lots of good coffee that I can't get on the road, eating way too much good food which I can't get on the road but mainly...writing new songs for our next album which we are scheduled to go and record very soon! We're really excited and the music is coming along really well.
We started rehearsals last week and it's been great to get back at it and do what we love most. MUSIC!
And I just can't wait to get this album recorded so we can start touring again and do the next thing we love most , which is to perform for our fans!We love you all.
Thanks for sticking with us through the no news spell and please understand that we were just trying to catch up with sleep from being on the road for 2 years straight.

Oliver Schroer RIP
Current mood: sad

Moments ago I found out of the passing of beloved Canadian fiddler Oliver Schroer. He died on Thursday, July 3 after a year-long fight with leukemia.
I had the pleasure of working with Oliver on my very first solo album that I recorded in 1998. I was young and green and he was extremely tall and a genius at what he did.
I listened with awe as he amazingly improvised arrangements that added the perfect touches to what was at the time my pride ad joy and I was so excited for the future.
I was of course a struggling musician, recording my first solo album on my own dime and this meant that I was completely unable to pay him a regular session fee.
My engineer had pulled a favor with him and told Oliver my situation. Oliver listened to the music and loved it.
He agreed to help a young, starry eyed artist for the sum of $50 and a bottle of vodka.
A few years later, I met his partner at a house party and when I introduced myself she told me that Oliver had come home from the session and had been raving about me and how great the music was and how the world would be hearing about me soon.
Well, it took a few years but those encouraging words and his generosity always stuck with me.
He may no longer be with us but his music and spirit will live on.
I've had the immense pleasure of being invited back out to join the tour solo, first to join Cyndi Lauper on Jimmy Kimmel which was such a blast and then again to perform "Money Changes Everything" in San Diego and in LA.
This was such a treat not only because I got to sing with Cyndi but also because I got to catch Joan Jett and The Blackhearts perform tonight and that means that again I got to meet yet another hero(ine) of mine.
Her performance kicked ass! I felt like I was 15 all over again and had that happy feeling in my gut that told me that no matter what people told me about my gender, I could do anything cuz look at her. Remember, I was living and breathing as a girl then.
Well, here's to two amazing women who kick ass. Cyndi and Joan. It's people like these that make a change in perception and break boundaries of what one can and can't do within their gender.
If you didn't already know we have been on the road with the True Colors Tour. Last night was the last night. Three weeks can seem like a lifetime. . .and a surreal life at that. So many amazing people on this tour. I have been so lucky to get to know Sterling Campbell-drummer for the B-52's who also played with David Bowie. He is an amazing drummer and an amazing person. (www.sterling-campbell.com) He is one of the most down to earth and fun and humble people I have met. Sammy Meredino who is playing with Cyndi Lauper also an amazing drummer and has helped me out in every way with my drums (sammymerendino.com). Carson Kressley and I are crushed out on each other and have decided to have a child together. The topper was the night before last. . . we were invited to hang with Rosie O'Donnell at her house in Miami. How could we refuse. Never thought I would wake up one morning and have eggs and avocados with Rosie and her crew. Spent time in the pool with her kids: Blake, Vivi. We also got a chance to hang in Rosie's art studio and do a blog with her. It was a great half day off-thanks Rosie we owe you one. Next time you are in Toronto you can stay in high end Parkdale at my house. . .see you all soon . . Morgan
