And it would all be good...if we were back in Texas
Although I didn't have to color correct pubes today at work - these past few days have just really sucked. There's this huge hole in my ceiling. The thing is like 3 feet square - paint and sheet rock particles are just kind of hanging off the wall. There's an insane draft going through my house because of it. And my cat has decided that she can jump into the hole. Now, I'm not really sure how she plans to accomplish this since this is the same cat that doesn't think she can jump from the floor to the top of the kitchen counter - nonetheless, she continues to try. Chloe must have done some damage to Skeet's little brain.
Scotty and I have been talking the past few....ok, ever since we moved back to NM. I know I gave TX a lot of hell..and really hated living there for the first year or so that we were there, but I'm ready to move back. We were both doing things we loved and actually got to see each other for more than 45 minutes every few days. And it rained a lot, which could just be oddly comforting some days. Never in New Mexico would you get trapped in a liquor store because of the 40 ft diameter hail was falling from the sky. And - let me tell you how wrong it feels buying booze in a grocery store. There were job possibilities for both of us - jobs that we would actually want rather than jobs that we'd simply settle for.
More than anything, we miss our friends who quickly became a wonderful second family to us. We never would have imagined that we would meet people who could become so close so fast. We love and miss all of you immensely and can't wait until we're in a position to move back (I applied for a 2 year position at the DMA - so there is some chance...). Hopefully we'll see many of you very soon.

The Bastardization of American Art
American art, like the culture itself, is a bastardization of all that is cool.

I must like the pain
So, I thought I'd have time this summer...that I wouldn't be bogged down in tons of work...again...not that I'm complaining...
but this is me and I'm retarded and take everything I can get.
Not only am I working on my thesis, a conference paper, and a potential publication, but I've got a kick ass job lined up AND a Museum Internship
go figure...I might actually be able to get a job when I'm done with school...ha.

And it would all be good, if I didn't live in Texas
This was a great week - until yesterday. I found out I'm getting a full scholarship for next year, a job in the slide library, a good feeling about my intership in Dallas over the summer, and now I'm finally not regretting going I to SMU. I've got a plan for the rest of my schooling, finally don't have to deal with the Etruscan dude, and am finally getting the chance to start Spanish. We got tickets for Bauhaus and I'm going to see my loving and inspiring prof from UNM in a few weeks...oh and someone said I could get into Cornell (which was so nice of her, but totally not happenin').
But it's Texas, and shit just can't be good in Texas. My neighbors are fucking with us. You know, you live in a state where everybody's a "good ol' christian" and they're bigger assholes that the crack-selling fuck holes you use to live by (yea, I know, I got busted for saying that last night).

Today I was reminded
just how much I hate Albuquerque. You know, it really is bad when you have to move to TEXAS to escape Burque drama.

T.V
I never was one that loved t.v. It was something that was always just there. But now, I have nothing....not even local stations...no infomercials...nothing. Static. On every channel, Static. There's a big ass t.v. in my living room with NO reception. So today, just becuz I was up early, I called Comcast to see if they can get me hooked up before the 14th of September (yeah, it's ridiculously insane) and just by chance they had an opening on August 26th. I'm so excited to watch tv...even if Monica Armenta and Steve Stucker aren't gonna be there.

Leaving
For those of you who don't know, I'm leaving for Dallas August 12th. I found a cute little apartment that's semi-close to school, finally got my financial aid information and am now officially the most in-debt person I know. Yes, and to celebrate we're going out and running up some more debt on my credit card tonight. It should be loads o' fun. The boy is moving out to Dallas in January, so those of you who know him take good care of him while I'm gone.

Beautiful.
Current mood: amused
We went to karaoke last night. Everyone was all broke. So we're sitting there. Country. Country. Country. Country. Kim Carnes. Country. Country. Country. What do you know ... more Country. Then my friend Scotty gets up there. Mudshovel. This kid plays/sings in a metal band. He can sing and sing well. He can hit the screams and all that. It was fucking amazing. Everyone's watching him, way fucking impressed. The song is over. He sits down like nothing happened. More Country.
I dig this kid.
