Participation in coolness
What is your favorite single favorite lyric line? Can't think of a true 'favorite'?...Then howabout one that is just really cool?
Here's mine (from Joe Walsh);
"And every Saturday we work in the yard / Pick up the Dog-Do, and hope that it's hard / We're just ordinary, average guys"

Casting Call for new video!
Hey, it's Casting Call time! The Kimberly Trip is going to be making a video for a really neat song from our soon-to-be-released rock-and- roll CD...and you could be in it! Awesome, no? We are looking for two lead 'actors', one male, one female....probably between 19-25 or so. The male would be a nerdy-but-adorable guy next door, and the female is the cute girl vying for his affection. There is no nudity...but the female will be wearing a bikini made of tasty and delicious food (but no, the food won't be eaten). We will be filming in the greater Sacramento area, so it might be a long trip from Zimbabwe. Interested? Cool. Contact us at jeffry@thekimberlytrip.com , and we will get back to you.
Peace out, Bractune (you know, the drummer)

Greatest album names of all-time
Here is my definitive list...any to add?
"Vertical Smiles" - Blackfoot "Next Position Please" - Cheap Trick "Got Any Gum?" - Joe Walsh "How to Meet Girls" - Nerf Herder "Drunk Enough to Dance" - Bowling for Soup "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" - Blink 182 "All Killer, No Filler" - Sum 41 "My Favorite Headache" - Geddy Lee "OU812" - Van Halen "Get a Grip on Yourself" - Wank
These were picked because the title SOUNDS cool, or funny, or interesting regardless of the content. An album name like "Palm Trees and Power Lines"(Sugarcult) is fantastic because it is a great album - but the title doesn't really stand on it's own merit. Same thing for "Revolver" (Beatles) and countles others.

Father in Law
My Father-in-law is a cool guy. He is definitely not really hip, or in-touch, but that kind of adds to his charm. He is a bit of a building genius, and I think his advanced degree is in Architecture.
The other day he was looking at the shower enclosure I've been building from scratch. I was complaining about the difficulty in getting said project to match what was in my head, and still be functional in an environment of constant water.
Keeping in mind that I'm married to his daughter, the advice he gave strikes me as really funny. To get the 'joke', you'll have to read it out loud; "Just make sure that you are really generous with the caulk."

Thursday Night in SF!!!
As long as we're back and booking shows, we figured we'd play at this AWESOME music festival call "International Pop Overthrow".
Last year we played at the LA event, this time we're mixing it up and playing a little closer to home.
Bay Area folks have been requesting a return for some time, so we're happy that not only will we be playing, but you'll get an entire evening of entertainmnet from a whole host of bands that you'll actually like!
XOXOXOXO Kimberlina
International Pop Overthrow!
Thursday, August 14 · 21+ · $8 · 8pm (we're scheduled to play at 10:30) Rockit Room · 406 Clement Street · San Francisco, CA

Live show this Saturday!
Yes, it has seemed like forever. This has been the longest between shows in the history of the band (7 years)... a fact made poetic in that August 9th will be our 7 year anniversary!
To celebrate (actually, this is just a coincidence, I didn't even notice this fact until I saw this note laying on our desk) we'll be returning to the streets of Mid-Town Sacramento this Saturday night. It's free and there will be local art EVERYWHERE... it is, after all, the 2nd Saturday art-walk.
I'm sure you have questions. Like, "Will they have their video presentation? How will that work outside? When do they play?"... etc.
The logistics will be at the bottom of the e-mail. The esoteric will only be answered by witnessing the spectacle that is us playing in the street.
We'll have the usual tricks, plus some cool surprises.
XOXOXO
Kimberlina
p.s. Here's Sierra with the details-

Monkeys
"Monkeys make up over 80% of the world's monkey population. Each year monkeys eat hundreds of ants. Scientists believe this number would be much lower if ants were as large as monkeys."
Maybe the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Drummer rant again
Current mood: amused
So, a couple months ago I was in lovely convenience store in Newcastle, CA. As I went to purchase my Ding Dongs and Diet Jolt, the guy working at the counter looked at me strangely, He cocked his head to the side, waited a few seconds, and finally said out loud, "Whoa, It's John Tesh!! You look just like John Tesh! You must get that all the time! I mean, you DO! It's weird!! YOU really look just like John Tesh!" I laughed it off, but, nope...don't get that all the time.
So, I was there again yesterday for the first time since that encounter. The same guy, who had no recollection of my previous visit, once again eyed me for a few seconds, and exclaimed, "Dude, you look JUST like John Tesh!!" I mentioned that he said that the last time I was in, and he said, "I don't know about that...but you sure it was me? I mean, you must get that ALL THE TIME! You look JUST like him!"
If that's so true, then why is NO ONE ELSE noticing...

Trivia answers!
1) Steve Walsh went on tour as a 'backstage keyboardist' in the mid-80's with this band.
Cheap Trick. He wasn't literally 'backstage', but he was definitely in the shadows, and not a credited member.
He did play in his own band he formed when he quit Kansas called "Streets". From this band he recruited Billy Greer, wjo went on to be Kansas's bass player from 1996 to present. On Syeve Walsh's solo album, he has another Steve (Morse) play some guitar...he also joined the re-formed Kansas in 1996.
2) Steve Perry was not the original add-on singer for Journey. After 3 albums as a 4-piece they added this guy, before firing him and hiring Steve Perry for their 4th studio album.
Robert Fleichman, who was duped by the band saying Steve Perry was their manager's Portugese cousin while he auditioned between rehersals. Robert went on to sing lead on the first Vinny Vincent Invasion disc.
3) Peter Gabriel was not the only cat to quit Genesis before Phil Collins made them a huge pop-sensation. Who is this Steve that was a founding member?..
Steve Hackett. Who was the first recorded guitar player to do the 2-hand tapping bit. Long before Eddie Van Halen.
4)...and what was the name of the band and the other Steve he formed it with in 1986?
GTR with Steve Howe from Yes and Asia. Killer band with Jonathon Mover on drums who had played with Marillion and most recently did studio work with Fuel.
5) Before TKT there was a band called Thin Ice. They had a killer bassist named Mike Flinchum. He looked just like the founding member of "Atomic Playboys". Who is this Steve and what is he most famous for?
Steve Stevens, who played for many years as Billy Idols guitarist. He also was the lead guitar player in the short lived Vince Neal Band.
6) "How does it feel to be charmed, living free as can be, with the world down on their knees kissing your ring?" by __ ______ _____
My Friend Steve
7) It isn't from eating 'Fish', but this guitar player got really fat.
Steve Rothery from Marillion. Their original singer was named 'Fish'...although getting really fat seems to be a guitar-player thing-to-do.
8) 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, sort of; Frank Zappa, Whitesnake, David Lee Roth.
Steve Vai...who was only in Whitesnake for 1 year and 1 album. Adrian Vandenburg pulled tendons in his arm and David Coverdale couldn't hold up the album and tour waiting for him to heal.
9) Auditioned to be the drummer for Jean Luc Ponty and Montrose. Got offered both. Went on to be freakin' huge in a band I already referenced.
Steve Smith from Journey. He took lots of varried jobs to give him more range as a percussionist. He joined Journey because he felt that as a rock band, they were totally different and musical than what was going on at the time. Neal Peart says that Steve Smith is who he listens to when he wants to be humbled!
