but we have this piece of crap for you.

so we ran out of parhcment paper and we cut off our calligrapher’s hands for touching himself inappropriately.

but we have this piece of crap for you.

not only is it your last chance to see the oaots for months and months of torurous sadness and lamentation, but it is also the imperialists bootleg EP party show. so you will get free musics if you come. both live and recorded

so we hope you still talk to mom.

that entrepreneur matt garappolo found a sweet deal of living the sweet life in an airerstam in savana in april fixing up a duplex and making a killing off rich art school kids.

so as to not be completely useless to ourselves and others, we have decided to record an EP at the end of the month, tentatively entitled, hot lunch. so for now its time to practice the six best songs we have written with joe and go into joe sr.'s studio as we transition into april. when the ladies start wearing short shorts as soon as its 70 degrees out. perfect timing.

before then we do have one last and mighty shout to shout. thursday march 20th will be the last night of typical imperialism at ottos until the end of summer. it will be tons of fun. details will be written by our calligrapher on parhcment paper and mailed first class priority to your mom's house. so we hope you still talk to mom.

swell

the show last night was great. as usual there were dumb shits being dumb, but everyone had fun. we played as the press so as not to confuse the door guy. there were supposed to be two bands before us. there were two. but before them there was a freeform art project which featured a cello, acoutsic and keyboard that you couldnt hear and a girl drawing a monkey on a huge sheet of paper on the floor. they played forever. we didnt play till super late and had to adjust for the one two punch of oaots and imperialists as two meltdown boys got lost in greenpoint. green. point. i had many half priced yuenglings and my drunken opinion is that we played swell. i almost lost my glasses. i cant see too good without them. but someone found them with little damage inflicted. so i consider it an overall victory.

our next show is march 20th at ottos with the invincible gods and the mercy bends. the ikes are having a party on the ides of march. if you dont know what that means you cant come. the imperialists will be playing that. swell

happy friday already

the imperialists are playing tonight at the charleston. it is the happy friday leap year show the are playing with the meltdowns. they were going to be playing with the press. the one and only typicals killed the press. the oaots are playing the happy friday leap year day night show tonight at the charleston. it is free. buy a drink and you get a whole free whole pizza. the charleston is on bedford north of 7th right by the L train stop. we play at 10. the meltdowns play at 11. the imperilalists headline at midnight for all the night owlettes out there. don't, not go.

on a more personal note i broke my phone. dropped about 700 times too many. i broke the screen open at work to see inside. it was rather uninteresting.

road to recovery

this weekend's shows went off in a typical oaot fashion, even the imperialists set that the oaots didn't play. thursday at ottos featured four fast and furious sets of punk rockin goodness. the press opened up with a set full of new songs and lipstick smeared on their faces. then we learned that music was supposed to end at 11, not midnight like i had agreed with the booker. so we squeezed the sets down a little and were even able to split the difference and play till 11:30. the oaots played for 23 minutes and fit in 8 songs of a jumping screaming kicking tantrum of a punk rock set. the new york howl was fantastic fury of soul punk and the imperialists kicked the most ass ever. the crowd was great and everyone was happy. just as expected. we have some footage of three of the four sets, although i am unsure where my camera went after friday's clifton show where i decided to get sloshed on vodka and pass out in the back of mike's car directly after we played. again, assuming we still posess the camera, we also have video proof that this set actually happened. i hope we have a shot of the dickhead sound guy (who hates me and my bass) being a dickhead and telling us we sound like shit. thats most of all that i remember from that set. then we got white castle. in two weeks we are heading up to bostonish area to play abbey lounge courtesy of muy cansado. yippee. hopefully we will have some video of the show up soon. now we detox.

kittens and roosters

hey kittens and roosters, happy 22nd day of the new year. ours has started fantastically. the new years party was off the skillet and i tied a fantastic bowtie.

since then, the basement room of musical tunes has been in comission and been keeping the neighbors up in the early evenings when at least one of us is filled with the need to scream our heads off. and that we do. and do it often. all we need is a punching bag down there and no one would ever be frustrated ever again, until we have to wake up and go back to our stupid fucking jobs.

we are finally working on some new material, and soon will start gearing up to work on preproduction for our next album, tentatively entitled the oaots heart a.a.

so there is a nice balance of awesome floating around us and we are ready to use it. this thursday we are doing another night of typical imperialism at ottos shrunken head. we are very pleased with the lineup and know it is going to be packed with people, both likeable and not, friendly and not, not sober and more not sober. but one thing is for sure, they will all be happy.especially since it is supposed to snow. everyone likes going out in the snow, right?

friday night the imperialists will head down to clifton to rockit with rabid roy in celebration of the meltdowns' cd release party. yey!

Shit to Do

We are having a rock and roll new years formal cocktail party on monday to celebrate the approaching and impending apocalypse. Come around ten, ask us for the address, I'm wearing a fancy dinner jacket.

Next week we are also playing a last minute show at Matchless thanks to the antisocial, coffee drinking, comic book artist, Mad Cat. Its on friday, Jan 4th with The Imperialists opening up at 8, then Snake Vision at 9, Tin Kitchen at 10 and we close up the night at 11. Matchless is a fun venue and the whole night should be pretty awesome.

I'm fighting a shitty cold, on a brownie and dayquil and can't think of anything else too interesting to comment on. Blah work drink blah rock blah vblaalbblahabalhlaaaaaa.....

LA

i've been in LA since thursday. it has been pretty relaxing and its great to see all my friends. i had a party at my moms house and drank too much vodka.

the next morning former oaots drummer, dave came over to interview me for his kiss or kill documentary (see the 8 minute long preview below, and skip to minute 6:20 or so to watch me being a belligerent ass). the whole thing was cooler than expected and i enjoyed talking about the founding and growth of such a phenomenally fantastic family of rock and rollers which was as formative in who am i now as my own blood family has been. the documentary won't be done for a year or so as dave has interviewed over 100 people, but i will be flying back for the premeier and insisting that the oaots play a song or two at it.

last night i went out with tom wakinghours richards and his family to eat some amazing italian food at ninos in long beach. it was tom and his wife and ex waking hours bassist, lisa and their beautiful rock and roll mosnter of a 1 1/2 year old, harrison and well as tricky ricky tubb and emma, the waking hours current bassist. it was funny to have three generations of waking hours bassist hanging out and i got a copy of their new EP which you can listen to on their myspace.

happy holidays to everyone, don't miss us (me) too much, i'll be home on thursday, getting ready for some mayhem on new years eve.

Imperial Weekend

tomorrow the imperialists will be playing a show in park slope at union hall with the hungry march band. they are a 25 piece marching band that played with at the pussycat lounge a few months back. it was a lot of fun, this show will be better. we will be rocking in full form with chris ike of eisenhower as well as a possible brassist or two blowing noise all over the stage. it all goes down at 10.

union hall is at 702 union street in brooklyn

it will be an incredible night of music, dancing and overall excellence. so put down your books, pick up a beer and brace yourself for the auditory imperialization of your brain.

we will also probably be having a few people over to the imperial palace afterwards although i have not exactly asked my roommates/bandmates. if they have a problem we can just have a party in my room.

on saturday we (the imps) are playing some bar somewhere in jersey. you aren't gonna go. but i will. yey!
