Plant Spirit Healing: A Guide to Working with Plant Consciousness.

Plant Spirit Healing: A Guide to Working with Plant Consciousness...:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />

Montgomery, Pam.

Bear and Company: Rochester,Vermont.  2008.

By D. Tigermoon

This book has some incredible photos, some regular pictures and some digitally altered to show the Spirit Beings of plants discussed in the text.  The text itself is quite readable.  The author does a very nice job of introducing the subject, and explaining her thoughts, beliefs, and teachings, as well as using journal entries to start the chapters, and clear examples to clarify or expand on points she makes.  There is a very clear and concise explanation of the Chinese Five Elements, the Chakra system, and the Medicine Wheel.  The fact that she got all this information into one chapter and it is clear and understandable is a wonderful accomplishment by itself, but the rest of the book outshines even that in content, teachings, ideas and information.

A wonderful volume for anyone interested in plants and their connections to us and the world we share with them.  Very well written, and enjoyable reading, even when the subject is complex.

Review: Weather Shamanism: Harmonizing Our Connection With The Elements.

Weather Shamanism: Harmonizing Our Connection With The Elements...:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />

Moss, Nan and Corbin, David.

Bear and Company: Rochester,Vermont.  2008.

By D. Tigermoon

This is a delightful volume that explores meeting with and learning from the spirits of weather.  The authors do a very nice job with examples of the teachings they and other practitioners have received from a variety of weather spirits.  This is not at all a beginner's book on Shamanism but does have some good basic journeying information.  It would be a wonderful read to get in tune with the weather, even for someone not planning a Shamanic journey to meet the spirits themselves.

The Voudon Gnostic Workbook

The Voudon Gnostic Workbook : Expanded Edition...:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Bertiaux, Michael.

Weiser Books: ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />San Francisco, CA.  2007.

By D. Tigermoon

This is a HUGE book that holds what I understand to be all the teachings of a particular sect or branch of Voudon.   I cannot speak to the content, but to say it is a change from the mainstream Voudon that I have studied for many years.  I know people have been holding on with ragged copies of this work and waiting for someone to publish it again.  This volume looks like a direct copy of the old pages.  They look like fax pages that are copied one notch smaller.  The pages are not hard to read, type wise, but the content is a bit obscure or dense.   If someone is a student of Michael Bertiaux or his teachings, this would be an invaluable resource.

The big issue I have with the book is that the drawings and figures were ALL left out!  I was searching around the web looking for them and did find on the Weiser site where you can send an email and get a copy of the appendix with all the figures.   I also looked on Amazon.com and there is now a "searchable" appendix on the book listing page for this title.  If you click to "search" you can also save or print the PDF.  Add that bunch of pages to the 400+ of the book and you'll have plenty of reading and study material if this branch of Voudon is what you are looking for.

"NASTY BAD PAGANS?" Protesting hate speech on NBCTarget:NBC, the TODAY Show, Kathy Lee Gifford & sponsor SamsungSponsored by: Ellen Evert Hopman & Dana Corby
NOTE TO SIGNERS: Please don't put the WLPA legal document in your comments. It's already on several times.  Thanks!

On Wednesday, June 25, 2008, during a live broadcast of a wedding reception on the TODAY Show, Kathy Lee Gifford gratuitously referred to Pagans as "nasty, bad Pagans." Ms. Gifford's hate speech has done harm to American Pagans' ability to live in peace with our neighbors of other faiths. By allowing her hate speech to be broadcast, her direct employer the TODAY Show, and their network, NBC, participate in that hate speech

Kathie Lee Gifford makes negative comment about Pagans!

Does Kathy Lee Gifford Hate Pagans?
Thursday June 26, 2008

I'd rather remove my eyes with a spork than sit through seven minutes of Kathy Lee Gifford, but reader TwinkerBelle tipped me off to this video of yesterday's Today Show. Apparently Kathy Lee was going around a wedding asking people little quizzy questions so she could give them gift bags.

At around the 4:45 mark, here's the exchange:

Kathy Lee: Why do you wear your wedding band on your left hand ring finger? Is it because (a) most people write with their right hand? Is it (b), because Egyptians believed that finger follows the vein of love to the heart, or (c), the Pagans -- the nasty, bad Pagans -- believed it was bad luck to wear metal on your right side?

Now, I know Kathy Lee is all big into born-again Christianity, and she's quite devout -- more power to her, she's welcome to be. But really, Kathy Lee, was that little dig necessary? If she had said, "Those greedy, sneaky Jews" or "Those dirty, unwashed Hindus", or any other ugly stereotype, it would have been equally obnoxious.

> Here is the link to the clip from the Today Show in which the comment is made by Kathy Lee.

Of course you'll probably have to type the address in since myspace can be so ridiculous about links.

I found this link to be able to send her email -- which I did letting them know it was an uncalled for statement and I highly doubted she would say such a thing about Catholics.  I also let them know they have lost a Today show viewer.  I encourage you all to do the same!

REVIEW: GODDESS ALIVE!

Goddess Alive! Inviting Celtic and Norse Goddesses into Your Life by Michelle Skye, Illustrations by Kris Waldherr.  Llewellyn Publications: ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Woodbury, MN. 2007.

..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

In this guide to connecting with the different goddesses of the Celtic and Norse pantheons, the author gives information on the myths and tales of the goddesses along with pathworkings, guided meditations, invocations, activities and planned out rituals.

The author shows that each goddess is associated with a different sabbat,  or moon phase and information is also provided about the individual sabbats and these moon phases.

The goddesses encountered in this book are Cerridwyn, Brigid, Eostre, Freyja, Aine, Danu, Modron, Hella, Branwen, Maeve, The Valkyries, Morrighan and Rhiannon.

The pathworkings and guided meditations show the reader how to build a relationship with each goddess and how to bring the goddess's power into their life. The accompanying rituals emphasize this connection and celebrate the alliance created with the goddess.

This is a great guide for anyone looking to create a more personal relationship with the Celtic and Norse Goddesses, and bring their abundance of power into the reader's life.

Earth Drum CD and DVD. The 25th Anniversary Collection Vol.1 by David and Steve Gordon.  Sequoia Records. 2008.  www.sequoiarecords.com

This Anniversary Collection from the Gordon's includes some of their best drumming, accompanied by the Native American flute, Incan pan pipes, acoustic and electric guitars, and sounds of nature sprinkled throughout.

Each song is not only on the CD, but also on the DVD featuring pictures and films of beautiful scenery from national parks and other locals throughout the world, giving this set added versatility.  Not only can the music be used for yoga, ritual, dancing or just relaxing, the DVD can also be used in these ways while giving the added sense of visual aids to focus on.  The DVD can also be used simply as a background during a party.

The music is intense and filled with feeling and emotion to help you explore your senses, your self, and the world around you.  Get lost in the hypnotic sounds of Earth Drum.

REVIEW: Forbidden Science: From Ancient Technologies to Free Energy

Forbidden Science: From Ancient Technologies to Free Energy

Edited by J. Douglas Kenyon..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Bear & Company, ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Rochester, Vermont, 2008

336 Pages, Retail: $18.00

By Tami Richings

Forbidden Science is a collection of essays by the author/editor's team of researchers

that contribute to his bimonthly journal (Atlantis Rising).  According to the back

cover synopsis, this book serves as a "compelling introduction to the true history of

alternative and New Science research".

Most of the essays dwell on theories of metaphysical or spiritual attributes of known

and some unknown technologies.  Thought provoking and historically based

viewpoints are presented resulting in some surprising conclusions.

Personally, while it was an interesting read, I found some of the essays to be as biased

and critical of the scientific community they accuse of doing the same.  In many of the

essays it seems that their sole purpose is to place an argument on their theories rather than

provide solid evidence.  More proof and less mud-slinging would have left me with more

of a feeling of validity after reading.
