Danse Macabre - The Weekend!
Current mood: artistic
Category: Art and Photography

Due to overwhelming demand the guestlist for Danse Macabre is now closed - but don't worry - for all those people that abhor a vacuum, we have a cunning plan...
The weekend is now going to be filled with 3 days of lively banter and witty repartee!!! So here goes:

Wednesday 29th October to Monday 3rd November
DANSE MACABRE II
Gallery opening times 10am to 7pm (10.30 to 5pm Sundays)
Open to the public with the exception of closing at 6pm on the Friday to prepare for the private view.

Friday 31st October

7pm to 9pm at the View from the Top Gallery: The private view with performances and free bar (guestlist only).
9pm 'til late at the Pit & Pendulum will be the Halloween-themed party - all are welcome.

Saturday 1st November
From 1pm at the View from the Top Gallery
Bargain bonus gathering for those unlucky enough to have missed out on the private view.
We will be having drinks available to help keep the conversation flowing. All are welcome so please bring along friends and family that can't make the private view. Its a public view without the performances - but hey, you never know!

Sunday 2nd November
Creative Meet-Ups Groupwill be hosting its third meet-up from 3pm, starting with an informal introduction from everyone within the gallery environment allowing people to find out what each other do and network then moving over to the Pit & Pendulum for a relaxed social gathering of like-minded individuals. This group and meeting is aimed at commercially-minded creatives with a view to network and collaborate with fellow creative individuals. This can be models and photographers, illustrators and events organisers, performers and film makers etc etc

We hope you can join us for at least one of these days, please feel free to re-post this.
Thanks
The Danse Macabre Team.

Danse Macabre 2008 - Final call for entries

The Danse Macabre exhibition was launched last year as a chance for Dark artwork of all disciplines to exhibited in a professional capacity but without the pomposity and stigma of the usual art world that alienates so many. The exhibition was also an attempt to recognize modern application of art via photoshop and various other new technologies alongside traditional materials and skills.

We are now looking for new applicants to join us for the 2008 exhibition to run again this October in Nottingham and March 2009 in London.

A deadline of FEB 29th is set for all samples to be sent via email to info@dansemacabre-art.co.uk or charlottethomson@yahoo.co.uk"

For more info and photos's of the previous exhibition please visit www.dansemacabre-art.co.uk or www.myspace.com/dansemacabre_art

Applicants must be living in the UK (this does not mean you must be from the UK)
Pass this information onto anyone you think maybe interested.

Thanks
Paul

Art, Art and More Art..............
Current mood: artistic
Category: Art and Photography

First up, I've got about 11 new paintings on my website, www.thepaintdistresser.com, all very dark and intriguing as per usual!

Second, you can see 4 of them if you happen to be stumbling around Nottingham, head on up to the 4th Floor of Waterstones (the gallery's called VIEW from the top for obvious reasons) but don't let the brightness of the location put you off, as my work certainly casts an air of darkness to the proceedings!)

Third and most important event of the year:

Come and be tantalised by the stunning artwork of this select gathering of artists that Matt, Charlotte and myself have coaxed and cajoled from their glamourous and well-paid day-jobs to summon up a bit of Samhain for your pleasures. For more info about the artists visit www.dansemacabre-art.co.uk

Danse Macabre
Category: Art and Photography

I'm co-hosting an exhibition in Nottingham in October 2007 with 2 other artists. If you are interested in joining us, some spaces are still available.

Restrictions - UK artists only. Work must be professional/high standard & compatible with the concept described below! Website links only - no image files unless you've been asked.
Website and info on artists already involved to follow, shortly.
---
"Like the archetypal White Rabbit, follow the artists as they take you on a labyrinthine journey through their weird and wonderful worlds. Experience the piquant thrill of the unknown – fear and dread mixing with anticipation and longing. Be enthralled as they guide you by the hand through a shadowy netherworld, marvel at the haunting, ethereal beauty and shudder at the macabre and grotesque sights you behold. When you return again to the here-and-now, you'll be safe in the knowledge it was all a dream. But was it?
This exhibition brings together artists from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines whose work explores the darker aspects of the subconscious mind. Ephemeral and faded beauty sits side-by-side with dark and brooding imagery; a haunting Otherworld of the imagination. This is a revival of the true essence and romance of the Gothic, stimulating a frisson of pleasure in the viewer; the exotic, sinister carnival has come to town with its sideshows offering tantalising glimpses of strange and fantastic creatures; an unsettling mix of wonder and fear.
This exhibition runs from October 30th until November 6th 2007 at View From The Top, a gallery situated on the 4th floor of Waterstones bookstore in the heart of Nottingham's city centre.
It is anticipated that this will be an on-going annual event celebrating all that is dark, sinister, ethereal and Gothic in a variety of artistic forms as well as providing the opportunity to buy affordable, original artwork and prints."

!!!! RECKLESS SELF-PROMOTING ARTIST ALERT!!!!
Category: Art and Photography

Just raising my head above the parapet, hoping to avoid the pot-shots.... yep, I think its clear... for a while at least!

I've stopped eating my paint long enough to do some reckless self-promotion - I'm normally lurking in a paint-be-spattered 5'x5' space (no, not a padded cell, just yet!) - Just wanted to say a big HELLO to all the weird and wonderful people that make this beautiful planet what it is.

So if anyone's interested in exchanging weird and wonderful, thought-provoking, ideas, comments, images and/or solutions to how to survive in this mad, mad world without going insaner than a ferret on Otterday afternoon - then hop on the magic bus and make sure you avoid the loon in the back seat (you know, the one next to the ever-widening puddle!) and hope you enjoy the ride!
