Heart Of The City, Part 2
So, as many of you already know, I had never seen Jay-Z live before last night- always missed the previous tours, etc.- so I had to see this one-
Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z rocked last night at the Amway in Orlando. I’m not a huge fan of Mary(I really dig her voice, but I only know a handful of songs from her) but she does put on a very emotionally powerful show, she’s up there singing her heart out-
And Jay.
Well, he kept the crowd up the whole time playing choice cuts off of everything from ’Reasonable Doubt’ right on up to ’American Gangster’- and of course I loved ’99 Problems’-
I posted some pics up on the page, I wish I could say they were mine, but they’re actually off of the Power 95.3 website(I was sitting a little more center of house)-

Encore Performance at Dr. B’s!
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to thank all of you that came out to my CD Release Party this past Friday at Dr. B's - it was a great show and we got great feedback on songs that most of the audience was hearing for the very first time. IT’S HERE!!!!!!!!!
Current mood: excited
Well they're finally here. The day has come. We can't be any happier with the outcome. The past 2 years of writing, writing, and more writing, revisions, research, practice, and months spent in a small padded room (The vocal booth. Not an asylum. Although it may as well have been some days...) have led to what we are officially presenting to you. Posted right now are 5 of the 14 tracks off our new album. It's totally different to anything I've done before. The CD will be released officially on Friday March 7th at our CD release party at Dr. B's in Ocala, Fl. We are finalizing a deal with FYE right now to make this available to everyone worldwide and we'll keep you up to date as soon as the contracts are signed. The CD will be priced at $13.98 online and in stores, but we are having a release special. If you get it at the show it will only be $10! We have a lot of great news to bring you over the next couple of weeks, but we'll just give you some time to enjoy the new tracks.

It's been a LONG time coming, but things are now REALLY moving-
FIRST- Mark your calendars for FRIDAY, MARCH 7th for a CD RELEASE PARTY at Dr. B's! No Cover, FREE drinks(with special Free Drink coupons available at Dr. B's), AND make sure you pick up a copy of the brand new cd!!!!

It’s been awhile...
It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here. After writing and fighting through the creative process that is absolutely required to deliver something of quality, we are FINALLY - GETTING - CLOSE.
Much time has been spent writing and now recording an album that I can't wait for all of you to hear- More news, including an upcoming CD RELEASE PARTY, to come VERY soon-
Also, check out this quote that caught my eye today- It says something important about anyone who refuses to sit on the sidelines:

This is a benefit for the BMCEP(Black Male College Explorers Program), the purpose of which is "to increase the amount of black males graduating from high school, facilitate their admission to college, and significantly increase their chances of earning a college degree." Back To The Roots Part 2: The Aftermath
And that's when I got punched in the face...but more on that later...
Saturday night, I roll down to House Of Blues in Orlando with Athematic and Tasha for The Roots- it was an AMAZING sold-out show and I don't think I had ever seen the H.O.B. that packed-
So we get there early and get a place on the floor about 8 feet from the stage. Most of the time I'd be cool posting up on one of the side rails, but Athematic(who has seen The Roots many times) assures me that we'll want to be front and center for this show, so I'm cool with that-
Doors opened at 8 and at 9 the opening group, Sol.illaquists Of Sound hit the stage, starting with an energy-charged triple MPC solo from DiVinci before the remaining band members took the stage- Unfortunately I had never heard their music before Saturday night, and it is a spiritual mix of amazingly intelligent Hip Hop, soulful vocals, and great stage presence- be sure to check them out at http://www.myspace.com/solilla - show them some love and tell them I sent you to the page, if you will : )
Unfortunately the poor souls directly behind me were close-minded and didn't even want to give their sound a chance. It surprised me that they were at a Roots show being that the whole theme of the night was being open-minded and open to the creative energy of true Hip Hop. Everyone else in the crowd seemed to be feeling it though and they were clapping along and getting into the performance-
So Sol.illa held the stage for about an hour before closing out the show with a breakneck speed performance from DiVinci on the MPCs again- I would love to see these guys play again-
They exit the stage and soon, the anticipation is building...you can feel it in the crowd. Different from any live show I've ever been to before, the crowd is live in this different way-
Close to a half.hour has gone by and The Roots take the stage and between the lights and sound and overall presence it hits me like a punch in the face(told you I'd come back to that ; )
Black Thought on lead vox, ?Love on drums- bongos, guitar, bass, keys, sax, trombone, trumpet, and tuba(yes, I said TUBA) create this great sound - they get the crowd singing along and the room just had this feeling that comes from the exact right formula with live music. At that point, it's not a sound so much as it is a vibe. The guys played for over two amazing hours and then stuck around forever after the show tossing out drumsticks(one of which Athematic was able to snag)- the crowd loved it-
I can't wait to see them again, and if any of you haven't seen 'em already, make it a point not to miss them the next time they come around-
Nas is supposed to be hitting H.O.B. sometime in April, so I think that would be another great show - let's start making plans now...

Back To The Roots - Part 1

The Roots are playing this S A T U R D A Y in Orlando at the House of Blues - I've never seen them live and I know they'll put on a great show - these guys are legendary-
