Riot on Sunset Vol 3 Compilation
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Music
I don't know how it happened.
The band broke up 2 years ago nearly, but somehow just being on Myspace resulted in the wonderful opportunity to put Song for a Brother on a compilation in the states.
272 Records is about to put out "Riot on Sunset Vol 3"
We're going to be on it.
The compilation is being sent to college radio stations in America.
Lets hope it does well.

The Way We Were
Current mood: accomplished
Here's an awesome review we got for the Launch of our CD at The Moser Room Back in March 2005. Ah memories, adoration, good reviews.
[The Stars, The Town Bikes ] Moser Room
I hadn't seen openers The Town Bikes before and wasn't so sure what to expect, so I asked a few questions but couldn't get a straight answer. Was it go-go bop?? Interpretive dance?? A REAL Rock Eisteddfod?? After a couple of songs and a baffling but strangely exciting costume change I still wasn't sure. Maybe it was all of the above, with some synchronized swimming moves thrown in. But all darn good fun and a welcome change from the usual stylistically and coiffure three band lineups. ROCK 'N' ROLL NEEDS DANCERS!!!!!!!!! As the boys in The Stars prepared to take the stage, there was a changing of the guard in the audience. The ladies took over the area in front of the stage – from the guys watching The Town Bikes – ah, the simple sexual mathematics of rock 'n' roll. Then, with minimum fuss and maximum grunt, The Stars opened with the brave slow burn of What Have You Done and invited us into an unpredictable set of stomps and swaggers. At any moment, the maximum-Zep riffage of Chris Green's guitar could suddenly give way to lone guitar/vocal introspection from Red. Though all night the broken neon sign of grunge was flickering somewhere above the room, The Stars never bow to the self-flagellating excess that can quickly weigh this style down into a morbid parody of itself. While this is a band with a reputation for leaving a drummer's graveyard behind it, current drummer Andrew Bucknall and bassist Drew Lynch seem to have locked into a good old-fashioned committed relationship. The whole band sure can PLAY, but never to the disservice of the song. By the time Red dumped his guitar and left the cock-rockabilly riff of Van Halen's Hot For Teacher to Chris Green, everyone in the room vicariously lived out every teenage David Lee Roth fantasy they ever had. One cannot ask for much more from a school night rock and roll show – except maybe a cover of Jump with some slow motion scissor-kicks. The Stars worked hard and lived up to their name tonight, with a good honest live show and a killer recording, We're All In The Gutter But Some Of Us Are Looking Up At... many bands have reached heights with much less. The Stars are dead.
Category: Music
Well it's been too long, it's time to fess up. The Stars broke up back in June 2005. And we've all moved onto different stuff.
Lead singer/guitarist Red has formed The Drooling Pigs of The Saving Barn with Nails of The Nail Factory . They are currently holed up in a mansion in Kew recording their debut EP in between Jackass marathons on Foxtel.
Chris Green has a band called The Get Go which are now gigging around the traps in Melbourne.
Bucknall didn't go to Perth, recorded with The Drooling Pigs of The Saving Barn went to Germany and then came back. He seems to be doing alright with the ladies. Harass him here
Drew "drewcifer" Lynch is living the quiet life in East Brighton. I think this is what he's doing.
Well that's it if you need CDs or any more info you can contact Red.
All the Best
The Stars Estate.
PS. We're not the Canadian band "Stars", we didn't do your ex-boyfriend is dead... or whatever. Sorry.

The Stars EP is Out Now!
We're all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at... The Stars
If you want to get it online it's avalable from ChaosMusic or if you're in Melbourne you can buy it from Sister Ray, Raoul Records and Greville. Or buy one from us at a show.
What the critics are saying:
We're all in the Gutter but some of us are looking at The Stars hard rock formula is invoked by practitioners who understand the intangible benefits of a bit of humour, wit and sarcasm to balance male rock bravado. Their talents are wasted in the eastern suburbs.
Patrick Emery, Beat Magazine.
Meanwhile far from boring are Melbourne's The Stars who've with their Song for a Brother, taken rock's canon and mixed in some stardust (ha) in the form of handclaps and some casually disaffected vocals, not to mention a classy key change and a tumbling groovy guitar solo, the type that is apparently (wrongly) unfashionable. Yeah!
