Some of the new t-shirts are also available in children's sizes. Other items include Wedding Present hats and My Favourite Dress dresses as well as the full complement of box sets, cds and dvds.
Scopitones have decided to celebrate the site's relaunch by offering the recent double Wedding Present CD 'LIVE 1987' for sale by mail-order at the remarkable price of just £5 plus postage and packing until 1 August 2008. 'LIVE 1987' compiles the first two of the band's popular 'Live Tapes', a series of official bootleg cassettes that were sold by mail order in the 1980s. The re-mastered album features live versions of ten songs from 'George Best' and comes with sleeve notes written by The Wedding Present's original drummer, Shaun Charman.

WEDDING PRESENT NEWS : FEBRUARY 2008
Hello Myspace friends!
This is the third time I've tried to post this... hopefully it will go this time!
Just wanted to post the latest Scopitones newsletter and let you know that the first Emo's date on the concert list is wrong, and for some reason will not delete.
Here's some juicy news anyway!
j x
HELLO from Scopitones, the home of Cinerama and The Wedding present.
NEW WEDDING PRESENT ALBUM : TITLE AND RELEASE PARTY ANNOUNCED UK SUMMER FESTIVALS : SECOND DATE ADDED DIGITAL DOWNLOADS : GEDGE & DE CASTRO LIVE AT SXSW
NEW WEDDING PRESENT ALBUM : TITLE AND RELEASE PARTY ANNOUNCED
The title of the new Wedding Present album will be EL REY, which means 'the king' in Spanish. The LP, which is being scheduled for a May 2008 release was recorded and mixed in Chicago by Steve Albini. Speaking in the current issue of the UK's MOJO magazine, Wedding Present head honcho David Gedge says: "I've been living in West Hollywood for the last year or so, and while I'm not going to claim that this is my 'L. A.' album, there are some references, I suppose. The album themes are lust, jealousy, betrayal, regret, obsession, super-heroes… the usual! We chose to record with Steve this time because the new songs were sounding very guitarry and quite dark. It's been good. As you'd imagine, really; Albini knows his stuff". The Wedding Present's 'George Best' album goes on to feature in the same magazine's list of Top 50 'Indie' records.
To celebrate the new album's release the band have confirmed that they are to play a full set at the "El Rey Release Party", a special event taking place at The Corn Exchange, Brighton, England, on Friday 30 May 2008. It will be the band's first appearance in Brighton in over three years. In addition to 'Special Guests' there will be a few other surprises, the details of which will be revealed in future newsletters. It is an 'all ages' show [under 14's must be accompanied by an adult] and tickets are available from: http://www.seetickets.com/?c=299717&filler2=299717
UK SUMMER FESTIVALS : SECOND DATE ADDED
In our previous mailing we announced that The Wedding Present would be playing on the Isle Of Wight as part of this year's 'Bestival' in September. We are now pleased to tell you about another festival appearance. The band will be headlining the 'Indietracks' Festival on July 26th. This unique event takes place on a 1950s steam railway in Derbyshire, England and as well as being able to watch over forty bands [including our old friends Ballboy and Darren Hayman from Hefner] festival goers will be allowed unlimited rides on the steam railway over the weekend and full access to the railway attractions. The event takes place at the Swanwick Junction station site of the Midland Railway Butterley, Ripley, Derbyshire. For further information visit http://www.indietracks.co.uk/ and http://www.bestival.net/

The concert is part of the IODA's 'Opening Day Bash' and will take place at Emo's Annex [603 Red River, Austin, TX] on Wednesday 12 March. HELLO AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hello out there in Internet Land!
Sooo we've been really busy, we've been flying all over the place. I for one, am sick of airplanes, but the show must go on. The band are in the middle of recording the new album and I make them sandwiches... I like to think it's an important job, but if I weren't here... they would probably just buy some!
Here's the latest Newsletter... sorry I'm a bit late! It went out on the email mailing list a few days ago.
xx
HELLO AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! ... from Scopitones, the home of The Wedding Present and Cinerama. THE WEDDING PRESENT RECORD NEW LP WITH STEVE ALBINI NEW COMPILATION AND LIVE ALBUMS RELEASED THE WEDDING PRESENT TO PLAY AT BESTIVAL THE WEDDING PRESENT RECORD NEW ALBUM WITH STEVE ALBINI The Wedding Present are currently recording tracks for a new album in Steve Albini's Electrical Audio studio in Chicago. The long-player, which is scheduled for a spring release will be the first Wedding Present record to be engineered by Albini since Seamonsters in 1991, although he has worked with David Gedge's other band, Cinerama on several occasions. The recordings have apparently been going very well, although, when the band needed to play one of the new songs again in order to get a guitar part right, Albini was heard to say "Don't drive yourselves crazy doing it over and over… and by 'yourselves' I mean me!" David, Terry, Chris and Graeme have also become addicted to 'electricals', frothy coffee drinks invented by Albini himself. NEW COMPILATION AND LIVE ALBUMS RELEASED In the wake of The Wedding Present's recent "George Best 20th Anniversary Tour" there have been two releases by the band. The first, "YÉ YÉ : THE BEST OF THE RCA YEARS" is a fifteen track compilation bringing together RCA recordings selected by David Gedge from the band's Bizarro and Seamonsters LPs, Top 40 singles from 1992's 'Hit Parade' series, a couple of noteworthy b-sides and a recently unearthed and previously unreleased demo version of Bizarro track 'Be Honest'. The album also includes the band's spirited version of Cockney Rebel's 'Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)'. The complete track-listing is: Kennedy; Bewitched; Brassneck; Don't Talk, Just Kiss; Make Me Smile; Dalliance; Dare; Corduroy; Heather; Blue Eyes; California; Come Play With Me; The Queen Of Outer Space; Flying Saucer; Be Honest (Electric Version). The album also comes with an eight-page booklet featuring sleeve notes by acclaimed writer and radio presenter Steve Lamacq. Hot on its heels comes "SHEPHERD'S BUSH WELCOMES THE WEDDING PRESENT" featuring live recordings taken from the band's appearance at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on 20 November 2005. As well as being recorded for this 21-track CD, the concert was also filmed for a live DVD, which will be released in the spring. The complete track-listing for this album is: Corduroy; Sucker; Blue Eyes; Always The Quiet One; Après Ski; Go Out And Get 'Em, Boy!; Don't Talk, Just Kiss; Loveslave; A Million Miles; Suck; I'm From Further North Than You; Come Play With Me; It's Not You, It's Me; Crushed; 2, 3, Go; Click Click; Ringway To Seatac; Brassneck; Nobody's Twisting Your Arm; Kennedy; Heather. THE WEDDING PRESENT TO PLAY AT BESTIVAL The Wedding Present have confirmed their first live appearance of 2008 by accepting an invitation to play on the UK's Isle Of Wight. The band will be appearing at Bestival, which takes place on September 5th, 6th and 7th. Tickets are on sale now for this 'boutique' festival, the web site for which is: http://www.bestival.net/ For further information or any queries regarding David Gedge, Cinerama or The Wedding Present, please email us at ScopitonesUK@aol.com Enjoy The Ride!
