Third Day and Brad Avery have Made the Very Difficult Decision to Part Ways
We appreciate Brad's many contributions to the band's career to date, including his work on our forthcoming album, but the time has come for us to follow our separate paths.
He has been an important part of Third Day for the last 13 years as we've traveled the world together and performed over 1,000 concerts. We will miss him as a band member but he will always remain our brother and our friend. Brad is a wonderful person, gifted songwriter and talented musician. We trust that God has amazing plans for his future.

New Album...new website
| | | | March 3, 2007, 3:33pm It's finally here everybody! Our brand new website has just launched and our pre-order for Third Day's new album/dvd, Chronlonlogy, Volume One. Here are the details Now is your chance to pre-order the first installment of Third Day's first retrospective work, Chron ology, Volume One. This important release compiles the cornerstone moments of the first 5 years of Third Day's professional career. From the self-titled "Bus" album and the fan favorite "Conspiracy #5", to the Dove and Grammy award winning "Time" album and the best selling "Offerings" record, Third Day came out swinging in their first five years in the national spotlight. Chronology, Volume One compiles the best and most pivotal moments of this time period in a compelling and meaningful way. All of the music has been digitally remixed and re-mastered. But that is not all, Chronology, Volume One also contains new recordings of the fan favorites "Thief" and "My Hope Is You" as well as never before heard live recordings. In addition, the liner notes contain an incredible collection of rare photographs and a historical narrative pulled from extended band interviews.
Chronology, Volume One's CD/DVD combo showcases the first five years of Third Day in a way you will not see or hear anywhere else. In addition to all of Third Day's music videos and Dove Award performances, the DVD features rare, previously-unreleased footage of Mac Powell and Mark Lee performing for local churches, David Carr's first show on drums, and Tai Anderson's first show on bass. Chronology, Volume One's DVD has an additional special feature which allows you to see and hear the band silhouetted against their own video content. The band humorously and ruthlessly comments on their own music, style (or lack of style), and stage presence, but also provides a unique perspective on some meaningful moments in the life of the band. Together with the release of Chronology, Volume Two (2001-2006) scheduled for July 24, these new projects will give both longtime fans and new listeners a look at the humble beginnings, yet meteoric rise of the Atlanta-based five-piece rock group.

GRAMMY number 3
Third Day wins an unprecedented GRAMMY on each of their last 3 full studio projects. "Wherever You Are" wins for best Pop Contemporary album at the 49th annual GRAMMY awards!
(Los Angeles) February 11, 2007 - Multi-million-selling, GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning rock band Third Day received its third career GRAMMY today for the RIAA Gold certified Wherever You Are (11/1/05) in the Pop Contemporary Gospel Album category. From its seven previous nods, the band has been awarded GRAMMYs for both Wire (5/4/2004) and Come Together (10/17/01), each RIAA Certified Gold.
Caught up in the celebratory moment, a very thoughtful Tai Anderson offered, "Wherever You Are seemed to connect to our fans in a more meaningful way than any of our previous recordings. To have it be recognized by the GRAMMYs is an incredible affirmation for both the band and our fans."
"I always say the cliche 'it's great just to be nominated'. And it's true. But I tell you what, it sure is more fun to win! What an honor for us to win another Grammy! It doesn't get old!" said Mac Powell.
Recently releasing its first Christmas worship album, Christmas Offerings (10/10/2006), and wrapping up a successful headlining tour on Nov. 19, the band is excited about kicking off 2007 with such momentum behind Chronology, Volume One (1996-2000) which drops March 27, followed by Chronology, Volume Two which hits retail, August 7.
Over the past decade, Third Day has amassed 24 No.1 radio singles and sold almost six million albums, with RIAA certifications including one Platinum record, one Platinum DVD, and six Gold records. The band has garnered 24 career Dove Awards, two GRAMMY Awards (from seven previous nominations), two consecutive American Music Award nods, multiple ASCAP honors, and has developed an historic partnership with Chevrolet. Third Day has maintained a touring record second-to-none by playing for audiences reaching into the millions. In addition to these many accolades, the band is most proud of its humanitarian efforts that include raising nearly $200,000 for the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita and encouraging over 15,000 fans to sponsor children across the globe through the work of World Vision.

Jackson, MS
Before I get to the main part of this post, I have a message to concert promoters, venues, and security. If you work in any of these capacities, please, please, please allow people to come up near the front of the stage. i realize this can't always happen because of tiered ticketing and security issues. But if you can make it happen, please do so. It literally can make the difference between a great show (like tonight) and an average show. As you can see when you read this post, we do a pretty similar show every night, but when there is a bunch of screaming fans right up there at the front, it takes the show to a whole new level. And I think it translates to the rest of the crowd as well. (Steps down off his soapbox.)
I think Mac completely summed up tonight when he said towards the end that we need to come to Mississippi more often. I think we were completely surprised and blown away by how great the crowd was tonight. Don't get me wrong - we've had some good shows here, including our recent tour stop in Hattiesburg. But tonight - man, it was amazing. It was encouraging, too, to see so many young people in the audience.
Earlier this afternoon, Nigel led the tour in a time of prayer and communion. Since we're in different cities every Sunday, it's virtually impossible for us to attend our home churches while on tour. So it's great to be able to have a time like that when our little "church" on the road is able to get together. A couple of the Leeland guys joined us as well which was awesome.
Speaking of Leeland, they turned in another stellar performance tonight. If you haven't yet heard them, I implore you to check them out. They are going to be huge. It's only a matter of time...
In the interest of shaking things up, we implemented a few major changes to the set tonight. We opened with "I Can Feel It", and added "40 Days" to the set. An added bonus was an acoustic performance of "Rockstar" we added by special request. You know the rule: if you make a sign, and the song isn't too ridiculously obscure, we'll try to play it. And "Rockstar" is surprisingly well suited for an acoustic treatment. It was pretty darn cool. I mentioned earlier about the huge group of fans up by the stage. Mac at one point referred to them as the "paparazzi" because they were taking so many pictures. I assume they will make their way to the world wide web in some form or fashion, so keep checking the message boards for updates...
Well we're currently on the bus on the way back to Atlanta. We have a few shows off before heading north to the D.C./Maryland/Pennsylvania area. It will be hard to top these last four shows, but we will certainly try. Who knows - maybe the folks in those parts will have some surprises up their sleeves like Jackson.

Houston, Texas
It is not an exaggeration to say that tonight was the biggest night of the tour. But I mean that in a way that greatly transcends attendance figures. Houston has always been so good to us, dating back to the first time we played there back in '96. And local radio station KSBJ has played a big part in that. We came into the night with high expectations, and they were totally exceeded. There's just something special that happens when you have 10,000 people in a room singing and worshiping together. And it only helped that we had a lot of friends and familiar faces in the crowd.
The show itself came off (almost) without a hitch. Nothing fell on us during the set, which is always nice. Mac was somehow able to keep up with scores from college football and the World Series without it affecting his performance. If anything, it made him better because his team (the Cardinals) won. I personally had a couple of technical things which stood in the way of me and a flawless show, but all that seemed minor compared to the great crowd and the awesome night that it was. The acoustic set was a highlight, as it seems to have been for the last several shows. Mac even threw us a little curve ball (baseball analogy intentional) and had us do "I've Always Loved You" in honor of the Houston Gomers, Great show all around...
One thing which made last night really special for us was the Bible study/devotional which Nigel led us in right before we took the stage. After sharing from Mark 7:7-11 (ask, seek, and knock), we spent some time praying, not just for the show but for our families and for some friends of ours in need of prayer. It was an amazing time.
Speaking of amazing time, we've had an amazing time in the Republic of Texas the last few days and it is with heavy hearts that we move on. Thanks to all who made it so special for us!
