Carrie Leigh & Gary Frischer, of NUDE magazine, the most successful art nude title to hit American newsstands in a long time, selling out both its first and second issue, are preparing quite a surprise for you online.
Carrie & Gary have been Native American rights activists for many years, combining their art with their convinctions. This is how we came to connect.
A couple of months ago, I introduced them to John LeKay, editor and founder of Heyoka magazine. John is also director of the Silkwood Project. John interviewed Carrie Leigh for his website, along with the most popular art nude model in the world, May Lindstrom. In the same issue, he talked to green super model Summer Rayne Oakes and FUSE USA founder/director Sherwood Martinelli. All oppose the relicencing of the Indian Point nuclear power plant on the Hudson river.
Gary Frischer and I came to talk about how the nude has been used throughout history to make a point, attract attention to political issues. The most recent use of the naked form to make a social statement is of course PeTA. The nude I shot of Isabel Vinson last year in front of the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant landed Isabel on the cover of the Brattleboro Reformer.
This has been going on for eons... Lady Godiva rode a horse naked through the streets of Coventry, taking pity on the suffering caused by her husband's oppressive taxation. Her actions were victorious. Her husband abolished the onerous taxes.
In 1958, Helen Caldicott, the doyenne of the anti-nuclear movement, disrobed with 50 others and marched through San Francisco chanting "Nudes, not nukes!" This has since inspired hundreds such Naked For Peace demonstrations around the world. Every year, thousands of nudes cyclists ride through the streets of major cities to bring attention to biker rights.
It's in this spirit that the editors of Nude magazine have decided to create a dedicated section on their website to celebrate the nude in activism. They are asking photographers and models who want to contribute work to contact them.

I don't know if it's real or not... it doesn't look alien... if it's real it's black ops... which means we have a slew of humans out there playing around with the trillions of dollars that are missing from the Pentagon budget... the implications of this? We have all the solutions to global warming we need, all the energy conversion secrets inventors like Nikola Tesla tried to show us... and yet... there are powers keeping them from civilian use, for reasons you can only guess... these looks to me like pilots who have a conscience... who are trying to break rank... because in terms of whether or not there's objects in the sky or not, captured on film? Sure looks like it to me... these sure don't look like miniatures or CGI... so you be the judge... you tell me!
UPDATE: Look at the trees at the end, they both look exactly the same... which would mean the whole thing was cooked up inside a computer... pretty amazing, hey?
NO EXCUSES! NOW IS THE TIME TO PAROLE THE MOVE 9! NO EXCUSES!
The MOVE 9 completes their minimum sentence of 30 years in Aug. of 2008 and become eligible for parole. They will be interviewed by the parole board in a few months. We intend to do everything possible to insure that they are in fact paroled, so this Aug. 11th we are doing a car caravan through Philadelphia neighborhoods. We want to inform people of the current status of The MOVE 9 and gather support to pressure the parole board to release innocent MOVE people. We want as many cars and people as possible.
If you want to participate but don't have a car, it's not a problem. Some people will be walking and handing out information to people. People can also alternate between riding and distributing info, so there's something for everybody to do, with or without a car. We will assemble at 45th & Kingsessing Ave. at 12:00pm. Join us for a day in the community and working for the release of The MOVE 9. This year's activity is more important than ever because of the upcoming parole hearings. It is not simply a commemoration of the Aug. 8, 1978 police attack on MOVE but it is the launch of our campaign for the parole of innocent MOVE people. Join us in the fight for freedom !
Once upon a time there were evil overlords, who heated the waters in the rivers killing all the fish, who leaked isotopes into the ground and poisoned all the wells, who released radiation into the air and aborted fetuses, spreading cancers all over the land, training a gang of thugs to intimidate villagers... just so they could control life's energies, capitalize on them... holding magical electrons captive, selling to the people what the people could be making for themselves.
One day, a beautiful maiden, ambitious and fierce, who loves to dress like a boy, felt for the plight of nature and beast. Together with an old fighter in love with her pain, who couldn't resist the vortex in her realm, they cooked up an incredible scheme, that would dethrone the Kings of New Orleans. The court jester came along for the ride, smiling and envious, cashing in on his pride... he'd report back to his masters, planting the seeds of their own demise.
Our heroine spent time with the evil one's hog, making sure they'd track her down all the way to the playground of the moving image... There her enslaved seer built electric machines on wheels that didn't need oil, coal or nuclear monsters... with the new masters of electronics they'd ally with wizards of wind and sun... and the five leaf wonder plant of the ancient ones. The die was cast, the rules laid down, the chase is on.
Back in the village a worn general, wrestling with ungrateful youth, finds of the plot and joins forces... lending his amazing skills to kink the armor, releasing the butterfly on the maiden's shoulder. From the lands where the earth is red with uranium, the fruit of Gaia's loins, a soldier for the death stalkers once coined, a protector of native lands rose up and took notice, now making his way East.
The local town's people are torn between faithful guardians who grow weak and weary, inspired sail lost direction, misled by a fallen politician's son and a disillusioned musician... and the new magnificent 7 with sharp knives and glory. who take no quarter and want victory. The book seller and official historian, the Paramount and coffee shop, finding kinship in their audacity, rally to the aid of this band of merry, with baby dolls and guitar picks, soda cans and candy.
As the battle draws near and barricades go up... the old seer comes to Woodstock asking for solace, don't give up on your vision now... he asks… look at our muse, look in her heart... look what you've done to her childhood dreams... you let down an entire generation by hanging it up and letting all slide... turning the country over to demons and whores... the trail of tears in her eyes. Stop this, dust yourselves off... there's unfinished business in the valley below, without your rusty horn... the folks in the halls of Albany won't hear the cry for sanity.
Help strike the final blow, put the nuclear dragon out of its misery. Checks can be made out to Rock The Reactors, c/o ELF, 25 Newtown Turnpike, Weston CT 06883... hey, someone has to pay! Revolution doesn't come cheap when you wait 40 years! You'll make children happy... they need a coming of age symphony.
