Pro-Life = Pro-Ignorance?

Some dude was talkin about how abortion is murder tday.  I'm gonna be honest... if the debate is a matter of deciding where the line should be drawn, I'm willing to er a little closer to pro-choice.  Here's my reason.

OVERPOPULATION

Stupid people are reproducing at an exponential rate, and the educated are having smaller families.  This is just a downward fucking spiral.  Call me an asswhole, but with overpopulation already a problem and dumb fuckin people makin it worse, how's shit supposed to get better?

Maybe I'm just a little pissed at the moment and I'm shooting my mouth off without thinking enough.

Not over yet

My friends (sorry couldn't pass it up), I am very excited that Obama was able to win the election.  Please realize however that we have not seen the second coming of christ or anything like that.  There is no miracle here.  There is only opportunity.  I was sure I'd feel some sort of relief from his success.  Upon the anouncement of his win, I still felt the weight I had been carrying through this election.  I still knew that the ignorance, fear, and hatred that has been bred by the Republican party is still out there.  It was obvious by the behavior of the crowd during McCain's speech that we still have work to do.  We cannot give up now.  We must continue to educate the ignorant and fearful people in our lives.  And though the thought of this twisted "American" sentiment angers me, we must hate the haters without hostility, for this will only breed more.  We must have a healthy intolerance of the intolerant and continue to work for peace and love in every American.  I just wish there was some way to convince these people that being fake cowboys and hating "towelheads" doesn't mean you're patriotic and American.  It means you're ignorant and have a limited view of reality and the true ideals of the American spirit.  Too many people misinterpret what America stands for.  To me, the way the Republicans have manipulated American values and spread ignorance is comparable to the actions of the KKK.  This perverted, gluttonous arrogance needs to be squelched. Fear and ignorance are our enemies.  There are decent Republicans, please don't misinterpret me.  I just want to convince everyone to stop blindly following people and make clearheaded educated decisions for themselves.

Economic issues

So until recently I have been fairly ignorant on the economic issues.  I guess I'm more interested in foriegn policy, since our prosperity and security depend on  us not being assholes.

Again, I feel the need to clear up a few misconsceptions...  Obama (like accusations of being Muslim and a terrorist) is not a socialist!  He is not going to take 65 cents of every dollar and give it to the poor!  (Seriously?  Where do they get this shit?  They actually believe it too...)  Taxes will simply be set back to the way things were in the Clinton administration.  No family will pay more taxes than they did in the 90's.  Remember how well the economy was doing then?  Does this seem radical?

Well let's take a look at how taxes work to see more specifically what that means.  A common misconception is that there are seperate tax amounts for the rich and the poor.  It's not true.  Income is divided into different brackets and those brackets are going to be taxed differently. For example, no matter who you are you do not get taxed on the first 7,826 dollars you make every year.  The brackets break down differently depending on if you are single or married, but you do not pay a set percentage of every dollar based on how much you make. Currently Bush has lowered the taxes on the 350,000 and up bracket.  The percentage for every dollar over 350,000 is currently 35%.  For that bracket, Obama would raise the percentage to 39.6%.  That's roughly 5 cents more for every dollar over 350,000.  From 250,000 to 350,000, taxes will be raised from 33% to 36%.  That's 3 cents more per dollar in that bracket.  That's it!  That's the income tax increase that everyone is crying about.  Does that sound like a radical socialist to you?

Please start to look into the facts before you start throwing ungrounded accusations around like facts.  This will help to lower the chance of you being manipulated by people that you've placed way too much trust in.  Just cause someone is involved in similar things as you doesn't mean they should be trusted with the right to speak for you.  Remember the Catholics that liked to touch little boys and the hypocritical homosexual drug user evangelicals?  (I have no problem with homosexuals.  Just the hypocritical homosexuals that condemn other homosexuals.) You prolly trusted them too didn't you?  Maybe just cause someone says they're Christian and a soccer mom doesn't mean they have the same values and morals as you.  Maybe you should look into how they act and what they stand for a little farther than that.

I was undecided until I looked into the biographies and policies of the candidates.  I didn't make my decision because of what some rock star or religous person told me.  Educate yourself and make yourself heard instead of just making someone else heard.

some effects of 911 and a political update

9-11 sucked.  i know.  everyone does. it's a shame, however, that since then, militarism has replaced patriotism.  these days, if you even question the thought of america running into war with any country that's not caucasian, you are viewed as unpatriotic.  this is ridiculous, but mccain and palin are playing to this ignorant american trend.  in an interview on the news today, palin referred to iran as a country that wants to eliminate america.

iran is not a country that wants to destroy america.    they aren't even pursuing nuclear arms.  they are pursuing the enrichment of uranium up to 5% for use in nuclear power.  iran is an enemy of israel.  the reason we are led to believe that iran is so dangerous?  zionists in control of the media and the strong zionist lobbyists.  why else would america give unrelenting support to a country that doesn't even like us.  check out this brief history of israel.

jews and muslims got along relatively well in the middle east before WWII.  they even call the period before that the "golden age" because jews were so prosperous in palestine.  after the war, the u.n. took from palestine to establish israel.  that's when the fighting started.  the fact that the palestinians' homes were taken away and they were forced to leave caused the conflict. they didn't want to give up their land at all, and who would? reminds me a little of how we drove out the native americans.  of course there are differences.  now here's the funny part.  in israeli schools, islam is taught, but there is no mention of jesus.  they don't like christians.  christians have been persecuting jews for centuries.  they teach the religion of their "enemy," but christian nations are culturally viewed as a bigger enemy.  they don't even teach "our" religion.  why do we support them again?

now the news likes to portray iran as supporters of al-qaeda.  untrue.  al-qaeda are sunnis. iran is mostly shiite.  they don't get along.  more interesting is the high population of christians in lebanon.  why doesn't al-qaeda target them?  (israel is) they are not trying to eliminate the christians from the face of the planet.  they are trying to get back the holy land.  we are giving unrelenting support and weapons to israel and that is why they target us.  to the nations in the middle east israel is a terrorist nation.  many in america view israel as a country in a conflict of self-defense but israel is expanding settlements in the west bank.  a nation in defense does not expand its settlements.

back to the election.  they keep bringing up this bullshit about ahmadinejad.  not only are they twisting what obama said, but they are implying things that are ignorant and feeding the militaristic virus that is plagueing america.  i hate the way mccain is conducting this campaign.  it does not go away if he wins.  the tone of his campaign would set the tone of his presidency.  the way he is viewed through his campaign will affect the way he is treated by those he will need to deal with.  mccain was a good candidate for the presidency until he decided to run again.  there is nothing he can do to make up for the sorry way he is conducting himself and for the pathetic people he has associated himself with.  obama is far from a terrorist and is not a muslim.  other than his remarks about israel which he has no choice about, he has been spot on with his foriegn policy.  he has a better healthcare plan and a better economic plan.  to me it's quite clear who will raise the american moral standard, fix the economy and our world standing, and protect us from "our enemies," both the threats and non-threats.

besides ahmadinejad probably won't be in power much longer.  there's an election next year and he seems to be out of favor.

A few of my own political views.

Character summaries:

McCain is not that bad a dude if you look into him.  I mean besides the fact that he's an adulterer. He comes from a line of military men and feels pressure to serve the people.  In fact most of the qualities he has been painted to have by his campaign aren't his most prominent, but if you look at his history, he's got better character than his stupid fuckin campaign has led the Democrats to believe.  He's kinda like George Bush, but with more brains, character, and balls.  He graduated 5th from the bottom of his class and was known as a philandering abuser of alcohol.  His biggest mistakes are letting the Republicans run his campaign and choosing an idiot for a running mate.  He actually ran respectable campaigns until this year.  Like in 2000 when he was beaten by Bush.  He tried to run an honest "straight talkin" campaign.  Too bad America responds more to lies, fear, and manipulation.

Obama.  Good dude, too.  Sure you could bring up his drug use, but everyone and their mother has tried drugs.  That reflects very little on his ability to work well with people and compassion.  He's actually in this shit to help people.  His motivation is that he cares.  He's got an international heritage that gives him two perpectives that America needs:  An understanding of cultures and an appreciation for matters beyond the arrogance and gluttony of America.  His educational background?  Harvard Law School.

Economics:

I don't know shit about economics, I admit, but here are a few of my observations.  Everyone's callin Obama a leftist communist asshole, but a little regulation is what capitalism requires.  An unrestrained capitalist government just leads to economic issues like the one we are facing.  So now we need socialist policies to bail us out.  Take for example the bail out we just passed.  Seems a little hypocritical to me.  We need balance.  Neither extremes work.  I really don't understand the trickle down theory and I don't understand how they seem to be ok with national debt.  It seems like taxes are what make money for the government right?  Isn't that what's gonna allow us to get out of debt.  Why are we in so much debt anyways?  If we have such a great economy and we are a world power how do we owe so much to everyone?  Is it cause our capitalism needs a government to make gas prices lower and build roads and stuff?  How communist of them.

Foriegn Policies:

Obama is right on the money.  McCain knows what he's doin, too, but hasn't displayed it because he's too busy trying to play to American arrogance.

VP:

Palin's seriously everything I don't like about America.  Another example of politicians not requiring an IQ test to govern.  I don't know shit about Biden, but that doesn't concern me really.  There's a better chance of McCain dieing from health problems than Obama being assasinated.

The ignorance of America.

We should have a quiz to ensure that we don't have any ignorant people voting.  I'm sick of hearin stupid shit on both sides.  Today I heard some motherfucker say that he's voting for McCain cause he won't have any African Americans on his cabinet.  He said that Bush didn't have any on his cabinet and that's how shit should be.  You dumb motherfucker.  A.  You are an ignorant racist prick.  B.  You are an in ignorant racist prick that doesn't know shit about politics.  Condoleeza Rice, Secretary of State, and her predecessor Colin L. Powel were both extremely prominent members of his cabinet and both black, YOU FUCK!!

I also heard some people interviewed that claimed to be voting for Obama.  When asked about how they felt about his stance against stem cell research and his choice for Palin as his VP running mate they emphatically replied in approval.  A. If you are simply voting for Obama cause he's black, you should be ashamed of yourself. B.  Palin should not be a VP candidate for anyone!!  Which brings me to the next stupid fuckin thing I heard today...

Someone actually implied that he was willing to suffer through a term with McCain in office because "Palin is the future."    ?     He claimed that the democratic party was only trying to sully her name because they were afraid of her.  A. McCain would be a far better president than Palin could dream of being.  B. Palin is in fact the embodiment of all that is embarassing about Americans.

And the last stupid fuckin thing I heard is that someone claimed the Democrats to be the product of ignorance that was being bred in Hollywood and in our schools and universities...   Yeah, stupid fuckin college people, readin books and shit.  You're so damn ignorant.  He also claimed that the only reason that anyone is voting for Obama is cause he's black.  Not cause his foriegn policies are spot on or cause he's actually doing what he does to help people.

Election Update:

Presidential Debate:  The "surge" never fought a battle and did very little for us except waste money and manpower.  So here's the situation in Iraq from what I've gathered.  Before we started "winning," the Sunnis were helpin al'Queda cause they weren't real happy with the way things were goin.  The Shiites were then murdering the Sunnis in the middle of the night cause they were fuckin shit up.  The reason we are winning is because our general told the Sunnis that America would get the Shiites off their asses if they got rid of al'Qaeda and then they convinced the Shiites to stop murdering the Sunnis.  The Sunnis ran al'Qaeda off and now McCain is talkin like it was our military might that scared 'em off.  Oh and tactic is a synonym for strategy.

Vice Presidential Debate: I started watching this bullshit, but couldn't make it past Palin's second or third sentence!  You are running for VP.  I don't give a damn if you were at a soccer game!  I'm tired of her makin mom and god references.  I'm all for a female in the race, but please don't pick one that can be manipulated so easily and then try to pass her off as a "maverick."

Election 08

In the 2004 election, I felt that the correct choice for president was clear to me.  It was easy, I thought, to see the character of the candidates upon research of their past and their political stances.  If one looked past the front that was given to us from the media and from the republican spin, I felt it was easy to see who had dedicated their life to excellence in public service and who had the ability to do good where it counts.  Foreign policy and diplomacy are the essential elements of an American President.  Domestic issues like abortion and gay marriage are not things that will affect the success of our country nor are they the things that presidents have the most power to change.

This year's election so far is not as clear cut for me.  I have long admired the character of both candidates before they ever anounced their interest in the presidency.  They both seemed to be honest men with genuine interest in serving the people and living with honor.  I have watched both of the National Conventions in an effort to educate myself better on all the issues and to ensure that I don't choose a candidate based blindly on my past opinions.  There are a few observations I have made, but the points I want to share with you is not about the candidates, but about the parties.  I think the tone of the parties and the attitudes of those around the candidates will have a huge affect on the way in which our country is led and on the way in which our country is viewed.  Both of these things will affect our future.  To ensure our future as a nation that is safe and happy, the world opinion is extremely important.

To move on unappologeticly, with arrogant disregard for the rest of the world population would be detrimental to our health as a nation and to our health as a world.  I can't find it now and I wish I had written it down when I heard it, but one of the Republican speeches actually suggested that we need a president who does not appologize for America!  Well we have much to appologize for.  We are not perfect and we should strive to be more diplomatic and less condescending.  We need help to stay afloat in the international community.  We need help to change the world by striving for freedom, justice, and humanity.  These are clearly not things we can do on our own as we have demonstrated time and again, most recently and apparently with our actions in the middle east.  Yet, that remark alone is not the only thing that I observed to be wrong with the attitude of the Republicans.  Someone actually said we were winning the war! Lol  During McCain's speech there was someone holding a sign that I found particularly interesting saying, "we can't win an occupation."  Before I begin my next point I want to share a quote from Bill Clinton, "People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power."

The incredibly negative tone of the Republican National Convention was appalling.  Since I hadn't been able to watch the Democrats last week, I watched them online.  And after observing the way the RNC audience had nearly turned into a Jerry Springer audience, I paid particular attention to the behavior of the audience at the DNC.  I found one boo during Hillary Clinton's speech, but it wasn't until after a few moments of prodding the crowd for a negative reaction.  During Bill Clinton's speech there was a boo upon his urge to "look at the example the Republicans have set" and again after he pointed out that during the last eight years there has been "the biggest increase in income inequality since the 1920's."  Sure there were boo's at the DNC, but not as frequent and hostile as found at the RNC.

Let's look at the essence of the boo's on both sides.  It's interesting to observe the difference in the two.  I think it demonstrates well the difference in attitude and character between the parties, though it doesn't really reflect upon their candidates.  On the one hand the Democrats boo at the mention of the past and the state of America today.  Essentially, I guess, they boo Bush.  The Republicans, on the other hand boo at the mention of Obama.  Now, I value a good strong competitive nature, but I have always done my best to strive for bettering myself in a manner that respects others.  I do my best to use my opponents as tools for bettering myself and not for bettering my opinion of myself.  I strive to treat my opponents with dignity and to focus more on my struggle than on their shortcomings.  There was a quote within Michelle Obama's speech that stood out to me.  When speaking about the values her husband holds she listed, "You treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don't know them, even if you don't agree with them."  I understand that this is politics and maybe the tone of the Democrats will change over the next few months, but, as far as I've observed, they have shown great restraint and dignity.  The interesting thing I observed and that was also pointed out by many after, was that there was more uproar from the Republicans against Obama than there was in favor of McCain.  To me these considerations speak volumes to the American people and to our fellow humans who live elsewhere in the world about the character and honor of our nation.  I understand that we can't show weakness to our enemies, but if we are inconsiderate and unappologetic our future as an influential nation will be at jeapordy.  Clearly these factors will not be the deciding factors that I will consider when I choose who I will vote for, but they definitely will have an effect.  I plan to research more and will share with you my observations as the election race continues.

Maybe I'm a fool, but it seems to me that the attitude and perception of our leader could have more affect on the nation than actual policies, though I plan to consider those as well.
