RISING SON
Current mood: ecstatic
Category: Life

Rising Son

The story of Niko's birth.

The warmth of the morning sun kisses my face. A light breeze plays in my hair. The cool morning dew sends a tingling sensation through my bare feet as I walk through the field of our good friends home here in beautiful Athens Maine on this fine late summer day.
Me and Star, my partner came here to give birth to our new baby Niko, who is 10 days late in arriving. We plan to do an all natural birth with the help of our dear friends Dylan and Elizabeth, who have birthed both their children at home. We have been camping in the field behind their home for a few days now awaiting the birth.
As I am walking across the field towards the main house I see Dylan weeding in the garden.
"Welixiboog, good morning Brother, what a fine day for a birth."
"Yes it is, think it will happen today?" Dylan asks.
"Hard to say, this baby is coyote spirit, trickster, been messing with our heads from day one. The pendulum said this baby is a girl and will be here within the next 2 days. The pendulum has never lied to me before. So it could be today. What do you think?" I ask.
"Can I see your pendulum? It has never lied to me either." Says Dylan.
I dig in my pocket and hand him the pendulum. He holds it in is hand and closes his eyes as he silently prays. He opens his eyes and watches as the stone swings from the chain in his hand.
"It's telling me 2 to 4 days." He replies.
"Maybe we should do a sweat lodge today and see if we can call this baby spirit." I suggest.
Dylan smiles brightly as he is always up for a sweat.
"Yes that would be good. We still have that lodge frame up you started a couple years ago over in the willows. It's never been used, and I can not think of a better way to open it." He says.
I started to build this little sweat lodge a couple of years ago when I stayed with my friends for a few months as I was going through a difficult time in my life. We never did the actual ceremony to open it. The medicine at that time for me was the building of it. This is not your traditional lodge. It is what I call a living lodge, as it is made from willow bows that are not cut but still attached to the ground growing. It takes a very special place to build one, as you have to find a patch of small alder or willows growing that has a clear spot within the patch big enough to just bend the bows to form the frame. The idea is to do as little damage to the earth in the construction of the lodge as possible. Then when you are done with it, all you do to retire it is cut the binds and let the bows keep growing. It's a very beautiful way to do a sweat lodge.
Dylan excitedly runs back toward the house.
"I'll get the truck loaded up with fire wood and stones and bring them out to the lodge." He yells back to me.
"I'll go start covering the lodge and prep it." I respond.
I walk over to the garden shed and gather tarps, and a pitch fork to carry the stones, and then head for the lodge.
As I approach the lodge I set down the things I am carrying, and circle the fire pit in the sacred sun wise direction. I stop before the alter facing the fire pit to give my prayer and offering. Taking tobacco in my left hand I pray.
'Great Spirit, creator of all that is, please hear my prayer. Thank you for this day of life and for the sun and earth for giving us all we need to live. Forgive us for our shortcomings and guide as we walk the path of life. We come here today to honor the new life of this baby, and ask for help with the birth. We call the Creator Spirit first and foremost, as where the holy light is cast no shadows or darkness can stand. We call the good helper Spirits of our ancestors to help us in our endeavor. May this birth be genital with no harm done to Mom or Baby. We are honored to have your help and guidance. Walalin. Thank you. Tahoe, Amen.' I sprinkle my offering in the fire pit. 'As above, so below.' I whisper.
I covered the lodge, then dig up the sod growing in the fire pit and place the dirt on the alter.
'Thank you Mother earth for life and forgive me for opening your skin as I dug the pit. I wish you no harm dear Mother, and we are honored with your sacrifice. Walalin.' I pray within my mind.
Dylan arrives with the fire wood and stones, and starts unloading the truck, I walk over to help. No words are spoken as we do this. We both know what needs to be done, and do so like some beautifully choreographed dance. It always amazes me how Spirit guides our every move when we are doing ceremony. We submit to Spirits will and everything just falls into place like magic, it's a beautiful thing.
Dylan asks if there is anything else he can do to help.
"No. You go do what you need to as I know you have work that needs to be done around the farm. I'll get the fire started, it will be a couple of hours or so before we are ready to go into the lodge. Let everyone at the house know we are going to do a sweat." I reply.
After the ceremonial placing of the stones and building of the fire, I sit watching the flames dance and smoke rise taking our prayers to Creator. We are using 28 stones for this ceremony, 7 for each of the 4 rounds.

Dylan, Star, and I sit around the fire talking, enjoying the day waiting for the stones to heat up. The others are at the house doing all the things that must be done on a busy organic farm. Elizabeth will be our midwife, her friend Sue will be the dula.
Dylan says "Should I get the water now?"
"Yep, looks like the stones are glowing, almost time to go into the lodge. Let the others at the house know we are starting the sweat now. Walalin, Thank you Brother." I reply.
Dylan comes back with the water and tells us the others got to much going on to take part in the sweat lodge ceremony. But that they will be out to the fire soon.
"Well, if you guys are ready I guess it's time." I say.
Star and Dylan grab their towels as I go into the lodge. Star stands by the door of the lodge to bless the stones with sweat grass before they are brought into the lodge. Dylan takes the pitch fork and will carry the stones in. I sit just to the side of the door inside the lodge to take the fork as it is passed in and place the stones in the pit and bless them with medicines. The first round goes well, very mild as we honor the east, birth, the eagle, and new beginnings. We take a short brake after the first round then bring in 7 more stones for the second round. It's hotter this round but not to bad. We honor the south, the youth, and growth, as well as the coyote and wolf. We are keeping it mild because of the baby; don't want to roast the little one out. Star is a very strong lady and has done many sweats; she knows her limits, and how to listen to her body, and the baby. If it gets to hot she will let us know and the door will be opened for her to be able to get out. At the end of the second round as we come out of the lodge, Star stands before the door with a strange look on her face. A look of a little worry but with a hint of a smirk. Kind a like a cat that has been caught with its paw in the fish bowl.
"What's wrong babe?" I ask.
"My water just broke as I was coming out of the lodge." She replies with a big smile.
We all light up with excitement and joy at the news. Elizabeth walks up to the fire right then and hears the news. She excitedly sets down the things she is carrying and gives Star a big hug. She then spreads blankets on the ground for Star to sit on and covers her lovingly. What a wonderful lady Elizabeth is, so nurturing and kind. She is such a wise young woman. She sits with Star on the blanket holding here 7 month old baby girl Maya. What a beautiful sight to see a new Mom, nurturing a Mom beginning labor. Sue walks up just then and hears the news. Sue and her family have been spending the summer here at the farm; she is a dula (birth coach). Her husband Dan is back at the house with the kids, they have a little boy and girl all under the age of 7. Dylan and Elizabeth have two kids Soul and Maya. So there a four little ones here at the farm and one on the way. The coyotes started singing all around us right when Star's water broke. Almost as if nature were celebrating the coming of new life. Star and the other women will stay around the fire while Dylan and I finish the next two rounds of the sweat lodge. We will pray hard for a gentle birth and healthy baby. The women will sing and pray out around the fire to give their prayers in that way. Star's contractions are slow and far apart, she is doing very well. After the sweat we all sit around the fire lending our support. Elizabeth and Sue have many herbal tinctures and medicines laid out near the fire. They are to help Star if she needs them. I brought many medicines too, so we are ready for just about anything. These two wonderful ladies that are helping Star know the birthing process well. Star is in very good hands. I am awed at the way they are so attentive and gentle with her. It is so beautiful. The pain of contractions comes and goes, the coyotes sing, the stars and moon shine brightly casting an illuminating beauty every where. Its starting to get a little chilly and Elizabeth and Sue become concerned that Star is warm enough.
"We could heat up a few stones and bring them in the lodge and she could birth in there. But it's a small lodge so I don't know if there is enough room for birthing in there." I explain.
Elizabeth looks around in the lodge and thinks it is big enough. But Star says she would rather stay outside by the fire. So we build the fire up good and keep star covered with warm blankets. The contractions are getting stronger now and coming faster. I hold Star's hand and rub her back with my other hand. She squeezes my hand tightly and moans in pain, I lean over and kiss the top of her head.
"Its okay babe, your doing wonderful, this is your sun dance. Embrace it." I whisper in her ear. She smiles looking me in the eyes, as the pain subsides. All night long the labor goes on, the coyotes sing. This baby will be named Niko Coyote Goodblood. We can hardly wait for her arrival. All through the pregnancy we both felt is baby was a girl, and many others felt that way to. We are so anxious to see her beautiful little face. The sun starts to peak over the horizon. We watch the beauty of the rising sun.
"Great Spirit, thank you for this new day, and this new life coming in the form of this little medicine person. We know she has much to teach us. Please let her come soon and safely. Tahoe!" I pray. Everyone gives a strong "TAHOE!" That is the Native form of Amen.
Elizabeth is getting a little concerned that it is taking so long. She has given Star some mugwort, and motherwort tinctures to help her along. Just then Stars Son Colton arrives; he has driven all the way from New Jersey to be here for the birth. Him and Star embrace and Star smiles saying.
"The baby has been waiting for you to get here. It won't be long now."
We are all very tired and are anxious for the baby to make its appearance. Elizabeth looks at me and says.
"We have got to get this baby out soon. Please Tim help Star, talk to that baby and ask it to come."
I can see in her eyes that she is getting a little uneasy about it all. Star and I are energy workers, Reiki masters. So we do more with energy then words. I am sitting on one of those big exercise balls, Star is kneeling between my legs with her head on my chest as we hold each other. We speak no words, only exchange energy. As the next contraction comes we both slowly rise up to our feet in each others arms. I start rubbing my hands down her back from shoulders down over her hips, and message her lower back. As I do this I see in my minds eye, energy coming down from above and up from the earth into our bodies. I see this energy as a bright soft pink light. Sue says she has to check to see how dilated Star is.
"I see a head, its coming. Oh! The cord is around its neck." She says excitedly.
Elizabeth gets closer and works the cord up and over the head.
"Its okay Star, you are doing fine. It won't be long now." She says soothingly.
The contractions are strong and almost one on top of the other now. The sun is up higher in the sky now and the warmth is a welcoming feeling. Every one is there now, all the kids and adults. These kids are so down to earth and wonderful. They watch and are happily waiting the new baby's arrival. I thought it might freak them out a little, but they seem to be handling it better than the rest of us.
Sue says. "The baby has its hand up on the side of its head, like the sculpture, 'the thinking man' that's what's making it hard. Oh my God, the baby just reached out with its other hand and held my finger as I tried to move its arm down."
Sue is very excited by this little miracle.
"One more good push Star, come on girl you can do it." Elizabeth says encouragingly.
Star hugs me tightly; I rub her back as if working the child out with the message. Star moans loudly as we tremble in each others arm.
"Its coming, its coming, your doing great, keep it up." Both Elizabeth and Sue say encouragingly.
"It's a boy!" yells Sue "a beautiful baby boy."
Me and Star look into each others eyes and laugh. Coyote Spirit is trickster in our teachings. Little Niko made us think he was a girl all along, the pendulum lied to us all, he was late coming, it was a 12 hour labor. Yep, he is a coyote for sure. Coyote like any medicine can be bad or good. Trickster that reveals it self is powerful good medicine. It teaches us to look at the other side of things. To not have expectations or make assumptions. It shows us that even in silliness or adversity that there are great blessings in it and things to learn from it all.
Thank you so much heavenly Father and earthly Mother for this experience and the wonderful blessing of Star and Niko in my life.

Being blessed poem.
Category: Religion and Philosophy

Being Blessed Poem…

I went out to my yard one day to drum and sing…

An eagle came on the wing.

Circle over head, my wonderful feathered friend…

His blessing he does send.

He rode the wind there for a while…

To let me know God had smiled.

It is cold out…

But I am warm in my heart…

As Creator is touching me, without a doubt…

May this feeling and I never part.

Creator has blessed me with love…

Sending down the light from above.

Oh Great Spirit guide me as I walk…

Bring your words when I talk.

Show me the way…

To brighten another's day.

Like the eagle, my Spirit takes flight…

I am truly blessed when I stand in the light.

Amen, Tahoe.

Life...The sweet grass braid.

Life...The sweet grass braid.
The path of life is wide, and we all weave our own unique way down that path. So in a way we all have our own individual religion or spiritual walk no matter what culture or church we prescribe to. Like a braid of sweet grass, we are all individual strands of grass that weave our own way, yet are all a part of the one braid.

Vision fast.
Category: Religion and Philosophy

My vision.
The Walk Creator has Laid Before Me.
Creator has laid a very hard path before me. It is my own doing, for I asked for it. I know I have and will fail in many ways. I am human and will stumble and fall flat on my face many times. But I will stand up again and God will help me as needed. In that I have faith!
I do not wish to hurt anyone. I know that I have, and for that I truly am sorry. We all want to do our best. It is painful when we fall short. But pain is not such a bad thing. It makes us stronger for the next trial. That is, if we learn from it and do not pull away from the pain we all have to face from time to time.
I did a strict 6-day traditional fast last summer to receive a vision and find my path in life. It was a very hard thing to do, but the vision did come. It was not what I thought it would be, but it is what God wants of me in this life. So now I share this vision with all of you so that perhaps I will be better understood. It is not up to anyone to agree or disagree with the path God has given me. That is between Creator and me, just as your walk is between you and Creator. I judge no one, and I accept people of all walks. That is what God wants me to do. For too long I turned my back on Creator for my own self wants. That all changed with the vision. So here it is. I open myself in a way that leaves me open to persecution for standing tall in faith. So be it.
As I fast in a teepee at our powwow grounds, the vision comes. This is it.
First I see a man from India, a Hindu monk. You know the ones that sit on a mountain meditating for enlightenment. In the vision, I see this Holy man going all over the world sharing his teachings with any who will listen. He listens to them and learns also. He does not do what he does to push his ways on others or to feed his ego; he only looks for a way of sharing to find a better understanding of Creator's plan. He is looked down upon by many and is persecuted everywhere he goes. He learns much and gives much. He and many others are moved closer to the Spirit for the effort.
Then the vision changes and I sit on the mountain, face to face with this man. He looks me straight in the eye and says, "The path for you is as mine has been. It is not an easy road and it will be very hard. When you think you cannot take another step, keep your focus on God and you will be lifted. Do not despair when others down you, hold your head high and trust Creator. If out of thousands, you only help one find a closer walk with God, then you have done well. Your path is to be a bridge between people. Many will not understand, but some will. Walk for the ones you can make a difference with. By doing so, you will be walking in the light. It is a hard path with many obstacles to overcome, but know you are not alone. So long as you walk to live this vision, the Holy Spirit will be with you. Some will see it, others will not. That is as it should be. Do not despair; your burdens will be many, but your reward will be worth it. If you find your place in this walk, you will find your place in heaven."
Then the vision was gone. I thought about this for a long time and I asked my teachers about it. They all said the same thing, "Go with how the Spirit has moved you. It will be hard, but nothing in life that is truly worthwhile is easy." So I use the gifts Creator gives me to follow this path. One of those gifts is writing, so that is what I do.
I was told in an earlier vision to become ordained in a church that accepts all so that I may perform marriages and also open doors to bring my God-given gifts to the people. Also to take vows of poverty and celibacy to carry this title. That is what I have done. I took on a 6-year vow of celibacy and a life long vow of poverty. A man that walks with no money and no nooky has very little ego to feed. This is not an easy thing for me to share. However, I want others to try to understand where I am coming from.
It leaves me open to being judged and looked down upon. That is okay. I stand tall in my faith. God sees this and it matters not what others think of me. So think what you will. Go ahead and even try to make me stumble. Maybe I will fall from time to time, but that is okay. It won't keep me down for long. Creator is the rock I stand on and that will never fail me. God is solid ground and I will keep my footing. To bridge gaps between people, I study all of God's ways. However, nature has always been my closest connection to Creator. I feel more at home in the wilderness than I do in so-called civilized society. I feel at home worshiping in a church just as well as I do in a mosque. I feel just as much at home in a sweat lodge as I do in a shrine or temple. When we are in the presence of the Holy Spirit, it is all the same.
May Creator bless you and keep you on the path God wants you to follow. I do not know why I have felt compelled to share this with you. It is all very personal. But by sharing it, I feel a weight lifted from my shoulders.
Now I will take a break from writing for a little while and focus on chatting with people from all over the world, as Creator has brought many to me in that way. Those are the ones who need me right now. I will do ceremony wherever Spirit calls me to do so and I will walk the walk I must. Look down on me all you want. Your sight is not what I wish to please. The one that really knows what is in my heart is the one I look to please, and that is God. I love you all. You are all my relations, yet I do not walk my path for you or even for me; I walk for the One above all.
Here are a few quotes I feel should go along with this writing:
"Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins... Serve one another with whatever gifts each of you have received." Peter 4:8-10
"Whether we climb, whether we plod, space for one task the scant years lend...to choose the path that leads to God and keep it to the end." Rev. Thomas Foy
"Only one thing is important: whether we are brave or cowardly... to be always there, where Creator will have us... and for the rest, to trust in God. There is no other remedy against fear, but to abandon ourselves to God's will." Bernanos

The heart remembers.
Category: Religion and Philosophy

The Heart Remembers...
Love.
The Seed remembers... I am very good at growing plants,
always have been. Friends say I could grow a cactus in Alaska. They all ask what my secret is. What do I feed them to make them grow so good? Well, I tell them. "Like all living things, love is the most important thing we can give anything. And with love all things will grow. The seed remembers love and so does the heart of all living things."
The highest form of love is God's love. We humans may never find the capacity in this life to love as strongly and as totally as God loves us. The closest we may come is compassion. Compassion is the highest form of love we humans can give in this life. Compassion is loving another unconditionally. It is our ability to feel the pain of others and by expressing what we feel, relieve some of their pain and suffering. By giving loving compassion unconditionally and feeling for another, we take on some of the other's pain and suffering. This is what we do in the sweat lodge, or when we Sun-dance, or when we just give a kind smile or word when and where needed. This is the best medicine a nurse can give a patient, a minister can give a person that Creator brings to them, and a farmer can give his crop. There is no greater force in the universe than love. God is love! As we are made in the spiritual image of God, then we, too, are naturally loving. People, please open your hearts and let your natural self shine through!
The sacred pipe teaches us to love one another. Christ teaches us to love one another. Creator wants us to love not just one another, but also all life, all of God's creations. That is truly why we are here, to learn love, to live love, and to give love. That is all that I have ever wanted to express with my writing. We need to remember to be careful not to get all wrapped up in the details of a written work and miss the over-all point of it. Whether Buffalo Calf Woman was here 2,000 years ago, or 1,700 years ago, or if the history of the life of Jesus is fact, that's not the point. A few hundred years is but a wink of an eye to Creator. The teachings with in a story is what counts. Please look through all the little details of what I write and try to understand the over all point being expressed.
God bless you all. May Creator guide your steps as you walk the path of life. Blessed be all of Creation.
Tim Walking Bear.

"We can do no great things, only small things with great love"
Mother Teresa

"When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought as a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."

The Sweat lodge Ceremony.
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Religion and Philosophy

The Sacred Sweat Lodge Ceremony…
As we prepare for the sacred sweat lodge, we honor the trees that gave their life for our cause. Everyday the trees stand firmly planted in Mother Earth, their arms out stretched toward the sky, receiving the light from Father Sun. The light of the Holy Spirit comes down in the form of sunlight and is absorbed into the leaves, branches, and bark of the sacred tree. This energy passes down into the trunk, becoming one with the tree's energy. The force of Holy Spirit merging and communing with the tree. That combined energy flows down into the roots and is radiated into Mother Earth, becoming one with the energy of the Earth. That energy is drawn back up into the tree. The combined force is radiated up through the branches and out through the leaves; out into the atmosphere in the form of moisture and oxygen. The light of the Holy Spirit and the energies of the earth have been used by the tree to give it life and in turn it gives away its energy and the combined energies to the world, to bring new healing and life to all that stand on Mother Earth.
Now the tree has given its life to be a part of our sacred ceremony; the sacred fire for the sweat lodge. That energy is still contained in the wood of the tree, for it spent its whole life standing in the sun receiving the life-giving blessings from Creator and giving that away to all of creation. And now in its final hours it prepares to give away its energies again in the form of the sacred fire. The heat of the sacred fire is the energy of God, the energy of life. The tree has received and given its whole life. That energy is now manifested in the fire and heats the rocks; pieces of Mother Earth. They are symbolic of our ancestors. The spirit of our ancestors is alive in the stones. The heat that is contained in the Grandfather and Grandmother stones is their spirit. With the help of the tree and the energies of Creator, the fire heats our stones to make them Holy and pure. The stones are then brought into the lodge fully alive with the energies of creation. We pour the sacred water, the lifeblood of Mother Earth, the element of life within us all, onto the Grandfather and Grandmother stones. Fire, water, earth, and air, all come together in the sacred lodge to create the steam, which is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit fills the lodge, opening our pores and making us sweat. The sweat is the moisture of our bodies, our spirit merging with the Spirit of Creator becoming one with all of creation. It cleanses us, radiating our prayers to the Universe.

The lodge is symbolic of the womb of Mother Earth. We humble ourselves and enter the womb of Mother Earth to sit in the presence of Creator and be symbolically reborn. We endure the heat and discomfort of the lodge to show God we are willing to give personal sacrifice that our prayers may be heard and answered. We do this to ask Creator to bring healing to all our relations and ease the pain and suffering of all the two-leggeds, the four-leggeds, the winged ones, all the water creatures, the standing trees and plants, the creepy crawlers on and under the ground, the Earth herself, and ourselves.
People from all over the world conduct sweat lodge ceremonies in different ways, but all sweat lodge ceremonies of the world honor all these things. It is a common truth that we must honor all of creation and that we are all connected to everything. We are just as connected to the trees, the stones, the water, the fire, and the air as we are to our own Mother and Father and Sisters and Brothers. We truly are all related! We must honor and remember that we are all related. We must respect the Earth and all that is on and within the Earth, for everything is our relation. Just as we respect our Father and Mother, we must respect the trees, plants, and animals, and the elements of life. We must respect all life and all things that are a natural part of life. These things are gifts from God to give and sustain our lives. We honor the Sun and call it Father. We honor the Earth and call it Mother. We do not worship these things as Gods, we honor them as extensions of God. Creator gives us the life-giving force through these sacred tools, the Sun and Earth, the trees, plants, and animals. All of these things give us life, the water, the air, the land, the fire of the Sun, and the creatures that live upon and within the Earth. Everything is connected to Creator. In that way we are all connected and related. Not one of them is more important than another. Not one is higher than another. All are essential to the creation and sustaining of all life. We two-leggeds must stop taking the Earth for granted and stop looking at the Earth and her resources as something to be exploited. We must realize and understand that we humans were made in the spiritual image of God and given the high honor and responsibility of being the caretakers of this wonderful creation. God did not mean us to exploit this creation. We are to love, cherish, and care for it. By caring for it in a sacred, loving manner, it will care for us and give us all that we need to live a full and healthy life.
"Oh Great Spirit, creator of the Universe, we ask your forgiveness for our short comings. We ask that your mercy be upon us. Heal our injured hearts and guide us to the path you wish us to follow, that we may find our way, our place within your creation. In this way, balance and harmony are restored to creation. Every day may God open our eyes so that we may see where we as individuals can make a difference to restore God's Holy plan of life. Creator, may your will be done."
Tahoe! Amen!

The following is a description of the sacred sweat lodge ceremony teachings as they have been gifted to me by my elders. The sweat lodge ceremony is practiced by many different people from many different walks of life. I do not claim to know all there is to know about this sacred rite, far from it. I am learning all the time and welcome spiritual teachings from all walks of life. Everyone that conducts a sweat lodge ceremony does it in a different way. That is how it should be, as the Creator loves diversity. After all, The Great Spirit made us all different. A tree is a tree and a rock is a rock, but not one is exactly like another. Each is its own. The same is true of any ceremony. We must be careful to not get stuck in dogma and judgment. Traditions are what they are for a reason, understanding and respecting the reasoning is what matters most. The intent in our hearts is what God understands. All sweat lodges follow a basic ritual pattern, although the order that the directions, elements, stages of life, and seasons are honored will vary from culture to culture. The same basic honoring of all of creation and the Creator are the same. There is no one right or wrong way to honor God and God's gifts. The important thing is that they are honored with respect and good intent. We get from the ceremony what we give to it.
Participants should be clean and sober for the 4 days prior to taking part in the sweat lodge. Women on their moon-time may come to the fire, but as they are already being cleansed by Creator, they have no need to enter the lodge at that time. However, these women are very spiritually powerful and bring strong energy to the ceremony. They can stay around the fire and give their prayers in that way. Men should wear shorts or swimming trunks. Women should wear a shirt and skirt, or long dress. All should bring a towel or two. No metal or jewelry should be worn in the lodge, as it will get hot and can burn you. Gifts for the lodge and keeper are always welcome and gratefully accepted, but never required for attendance.
Things like birch bark for fire starting, cedar boughs for the lodge floor, old blankets to cover the lodge, stones for the ancestors, fire wood, spring water, tobacco, sweet grass, sage, and other medicines etc... All are good gifts for the lodge. Most of all, bring yourself and your good intentions.
There are 4 rounds to a sweat lodge ceremony, although sometimes more are called for. But most of the time we open and close the door 4 times. Each round honors different things. That order may be different in one culture than in another. But all are honoring the 4 directions, the 4 elements, the 4 stages of life, the 4 seasons of the year. The lodge is for purification, and cleansing of body, mind, and spirit. We endure the heat and discomfort of the lodge to give personal sacrifice and bring healing to those we pray for. We take on some of the pain and suffering of others to please the Creator so the Spirit may heal those we pray for. The lodge is symbolic of the womb of Mother Earth. When we leave the lodge after ceremony, we are symbolically reborn, brothers and sister anew. We bring together the elements of earth, air, water, and fire. The elements of life. The steam is symbolic of the Holy Spirit, the water is the life blood of Mother Earth, the blood of creation. Our sweat is the blood of our spirits.
We sweat and become one with the Creator Spirit. The Earth is our Mother who gives us all we need for life. We call the Sun Father, as together Father Sun and Mother Earth give and sustain all life as we know it. We do not worship the Sun and Earth as Gods. We pay great respect, and give honor to the Sun and Earth because they are sacred gifts from God. The hot stones we bring into the lodge are symbolic of our ancestors. We call the hot rocks our Grandfathers and Grandmothers. The heat within the stones is the energy of the ancestor spirits. They help us deliver our prayers to Creator. As we form a sacred circle in this plane of existence, our ancestor spirits form a circle in the spirit world on our behalf. They guide us and protect us throughout our lives. The fire is the sun on earth, symbolic of the life force within all living things. We offer tobacco to the fire, visualizing our prayers being contained in the offering. The smoke of the fire takes our prayers up to Creator. The fire is a symbolic connection to Creator. In effect, it is a spiritual hot line directly to God.
This is the basic lay out of how I conduct a lodge:
We always smudge and cleanse ourselves and any sacred items being used in the ceremony with sweet grass or sage.
First we call the Spirits of the directions. Sometimes we do a pipe ceremony at this time. There is much symbolism that goes into the building of the fire, so it is good for those taking part in the sweat to help with the fire. There are teachings that go with the building of the sacred fire, but I will focus on the lodge itself for this writing.
The number of stones used in a sweat lodge ceremony will vary from sweat to sweat. Myself, I like to use 7 for each round and sometimes more on the healing round. Traditionally, we are silent as the first 5 stones are brought into the lodge. This is to show respect for the opening of the medicine wheel. The first 5 stones are placed as such: First is placed in the center of the pit, symbolic of Creator. Second is placed in the east. Third is placed in the south. Fourth is placed in the west. Fifth is placed in the north. These 5 together are the medicine wheel. Each stone is given offerings of many different kinds as they are placed into the pit. I use offerings like tree pitch, copal, frankincense, myrrh, dragons blood, sage, cedar, sweet grass, and many others, depending on what I have and what Spirit moves us to use. After every prayer, 4 to 7 splashes of water goes on the hot rocks to send off the prayer.
Round 1: The Cleansing Round. We honor the East. The direction of the rising sun and the start of a new day, a new cycle. The time of day for the east is morning. East is yellow for the sunrise light. It is also symbolic of the yellow colored people. East is symbolic of the season of spring, and the infant stage of life. It is birth and new beginnings. It is the germination time. We pray for all the infants of the world and those to come. The animal totem for the east is the eagle. The element is air.
Round 2: The Forgiveness Round. We honor the South. The direction symbolic of the season of summer. The time of day for the south is noon. The stage of life is youth. We pray for all the youth of the world. It is the time of growth. The color is red, symbolic of the heat of the summer Sun. It is also for the red people. The totem animal is the wolf. The element is water.
Round 3: The Healing Round. The direction of the West. The place of the setting sun and the completion of the day. The stage of life is adulthood. We pray for all the adults of the world. The season is fall. The time of harvest. The time of day is evening. The color is black, symbolic of the dark storms that come from the west. It is also for the black people. The totem animal is the bear. Sometimes we will give offerings of berries to the stones, and eat them ourselves at this time. It is the food of the bear, so we honor the bear by doing this. We will drink water at this time too. The berries and water are symbolic of the body and blood of creation. Element is fire. This round is also called the healing round. This is the hottest round. It is when we take on as much heat and discomfort as we can, asking Creator to give us some of the pain and suffering of those we pray to heal.
Round 4: Repentance Round. The direction of the North. The season is winter. Time of day is midnight. The time of the great sleep. The stage of life is elderly. We pray for all the elders of the world. The color is white, symbolic of the snow and the white people. The totem animal is the white bear and the white buffalo. The element is earth. This round is the forgiving round. We pray and ask Creator to forgive us for our shortcomings and ask for healing of ourselves. We always pray for ourselves last. At this time we release the Spirits we have called.
This completes the ceremony, which is followed by a feast. The door of the lodge is opened between each round and people can leave the lodge then. If at any time someone feels they need to get out of the lodge, all they need do is say so and the door will be opened. There is no shame in leaving the lodge early. We want to try our hardest to stay in the lodge for every round, but if it is too much for you, it is okay to want out. In a way it is a blessing, as it means you did not need that much cleansing. We share songs and prayers in the lodge. So please feel free to bring any musical instruments and/or songs to the ceremony. The lodge is our church, all are welcome.
Tahoe, Amen.

Plant Spirit communication. Opening the wild heart.
Category: Religion and Philosophy

..> ..>
Plant Spirit communication. Opening the wild heart.
We will have many spirit guides and helper through out life. Some will come and go, and others will stay with us for life. We will have spirit helpers in all the clans of life, plants, animals, and humans, as well as insects, and rocks.
As for plants...I feel that all plants have medicine to offer. Even the poison ones, we just need to learn how to use them safely and when. When it comes to learning herbal medicine it is best to take it slow and not over load your self with to much info about to many herbs at one time. I advice my students to not take on any more that 4 herbs a year. And learn all you can about those 4. Read about them, find them in the wild and spend time with them often, take notes on how they grow through out the year, when they flower, color, smell, shapes etc, as well as what other plants they like to live with. These are all signs the plant is trying to communicate to you. Grow them if you can. The idea is to develop a relationship with the plant. Really get to know it, and listen to that little feeling, the little voice within. Intuition is our best teacher, that is spirit speaking to us. Give offerings to the plants, talk to them, sing to them. Any way you feel comfortable interacting with them. The plants will respond. I call these our plant spirit guides. Plants know why they were created, they know that they are food and medicine and they want to do that job. But most of all they want to be honored and respected.
plants are master energy workers. Some plants will want to grow and be medicine for the earth, others will want to be harvested and used to make us healthy. Follow that inner feeling and intuitive voice, that is the plant spirit speaking to you. A good offering to the plants is corn meal as it feeds them. But any nature offering given with respect and honor is good. I give tobacco sometimes, even a few strans of my hair, or even just a song. They love that. I know that some people think this kind of way of looking at things is nuts. But I know from my elders teachings and experience that it is not. There is a real transaction and communication that goes on between humans and all other life. We just need to take the time to listen and learn, "smell the roses". Watch every thing closely and ask your self and spirit "what am I to learn here?" This is how we all learn and grow. Everything that is a natural creation is a part of us as we too are natural creations. All things are connected. We think with our mind, feel with our heart, express with our body. There is 3 individual awarenesses there that are a natural part of who and what we are. These 3 forms of awareness are designed to function together with each other. To often we get stuck in our heads and fail to hear and feel our hearts and bodies. The plants helps us with that. By learning to interact with them we learn to open our wild hearts and our bodies respond to that with good health.
Anyways, I know I can be long winded about this stuff sometimes. Sorry about that. But I have a passion with this stuff and love to share it.
I am very spiritual and have learned under Native elders and well known modern herbalist. I have studied herbal medicine and the healing arts for over 15 years now. It is more that a Hobie with me, it is a way of life.
many blessings to you and yours.

Light & darkness, good & bad, what blessings will come of it all?
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Religion and Philosophy

What one puts out comes back to them. Things are not always as they seem. Such is the nature of life. But there is always something bigger going on, something bigger than you or I or any of us. The Spirits are always at work, always behind the wind and storms doing their thing. There is one base teaching of all the great sages of all walks of life in this world. That is, "see the blessings in all things." No matter how bad something may seem, no matter how hard something may come off as being, there is a blessing there, always. To look and find them is the really gift. To live in dogma and feed the darkness only hinders the growth and gives power to the darkness, and does not find the blessing. Role playing is a part of life, a natural part of who we are. Some times we will be the devils advocate, some times we will be the angles advocate, some times we will be the devil, some times we will be the angle. And often we do not even see what we are being. But even then the Spirits are at work, and lessons are being given and blessings offered. The seeds get planted, some will grow, it may not happen in the moment, it may take years or even life times to germinate. But sooner or later it grows. We can feed the darkness and live in dogma and say to our self, "oooo that is bad, I will not face it, I will hide from it and even bring notice to its badness." Or we can say, "hummm, what is the blessing in this, how can I learn from this, what can I teach from this?" Stepping out side of our self, looking through an other's eyes, gifting what we can from how and what we have seen through the others eyes, that's where the real blessings come in, that's when the miracles happen. Beauty is everywhere and in everything, we only need to look for it. Even the ugliest and worst thing is hideously beautiful. Embrace the beautiful adversities of life, what a blessing they offer us.

How many ways Does God teach us?
Category: Religion and Philosophy

How many ways does God teach us?

Scripture tells us that when Jesus stood on the mountain and spoke to the people, there were people there from many different walks of life. They did not all speak the same language, but yet all understood the teachings in their own language. Jesus did not repeat himself in all the different languages of the people there. He spoke once and all heard and understood in their own way. This miracle is not only true of our hearing; it is also true of our sight. The teachings Creator reveals to us in voice and sight, will be given in a way that we will best receive and understand them based on who we are and where we come from. When Jesus arose from the grave, scripture says he revealed himself to all the people of the world. It is only fitting that Creator in human form would show him self to different people in different ways. God wants us to understand what Creator is trying to say, so those teachings will be given to each in the way that they will best receive those teachings. So, the people of the Middle East saw him as Jesus because that is how those people would best understand.
Around this same time period Buffalo calf woman brought the sacred pipe and the teachings that go with it to the Native people of Turtle Island. This angelic woman was sent by Creator to bring the pipe and teachings of the pipe to the people. The teachings of the pipe are the very same teachings that Christ brought to the people of the Middle East, to love, honor and respect all life. Now God knew that the Native people considered women to be the most sacred of all beings as they are the life givers. Even Creator passed through the womb of a woman to walk on the land like a human. And the buffalo was the provider of all that was needed to sustain the lives of the Natives. So it is only fitting that Creator would take on the image of a woman and a buffalo to bring the teachings to them. That is how the teachings would best be received by the Natives. At this same time period Creator revealed the teachings to all the people of the world in their own way. People of all walks of life had visions and teachings gifted to them in a way they would best receive them. God is good and wants us to understand, so we are all blessed with the teachings in different ways. The lessons of the teachings are the same. Creator loves diversity, which is why we were all made different. It is time to stop judging the different ways the teachings were given and start focusing more on the lessons of the teachings. To be prejudice of the different ways the teachings were presented is disrespectful to the teachings. The teachings are divine gifts from God; to disrespect any of them is to disrespect Creator.
The teachings come in many forms, from the written word, from the cycles of nature, from vision, from oral history, ECT... Even the wisest elder person in the world can learn from a child. But we must be open to the teachings to receive the lessons. If we do not listen to the Child's cry how can we know what causes the tears?
The time of sharing and enlightenment is upon us. It is time to stop judging each other and realize there is much we have to learn from each other. A sharing of knowledge to find understanding is needed. It is not our place to judge and condemn, it is our place to love and understand.
"May Creator touch the hearts of the human race and open us to understanding, so we may find our place in creation, that we may find harmony and balance. May we live up to our God given place as care takers of this world. Not the exploiters, but the caretakers of this wonderful gift we call Mother earth. May we learn to live in harmony with each other and all of creation. Tahoe, Amen!"
No person can look into the heart of another and know what is there. Only God and the individual knows what is in their heart. So only God and the individual can judge them. We were all created by God, so since we all have one common creator then we truly are brothers and sisters.

Do not focus on judging what is historically real or unreal. It is all part of the Spirits plan of creation. The teachings within our legends and history are more impotent than historical fact.
Many people of today get lost in this when they try to teach about a Medicine man named Jesus. They try to force others to except the history of this mans life and ministry as being historical fact. In doing so miss the whole point of the story and teachings within the legend. It does not really matter if this mans life is a real historical fact or not. The teachings within the legend are what counts most. Thats is the blue print for us to learn from, and the true gift God wants us to have. The teachings of Christ are about loving and honoring all life, the same as the teachings of the Native pipe, as well as many other sacred ways. God loves us all, and wants us to love each other and all of creation in a way that is as close to Godly love as we can. Through this kind of love all miracles are possible. God is Love, and human love is God within us.
Dahoe. Amen.

The Magic Moccasins.
Current mood: creative
Category: Religion and Philosophy

The Magic Moccasins.

The beat of the drum sounds across the land. My heart is beating to its rhythm. The drum group sings the powwow songs and the people dance the circle. Elders lead the dance as the people move to the rhythm of the Mother's heart beat. I stand there just outside the circle and watch the people dance around the drum in the middle as they move around the circle. Such a beautiful sight, some in full regalia others in every day tee shirts and blue jeans.  Some move very gracefully others just walk slowly taking steps to the beat.
I see one Grandfather in the lead, he moves so smoothly, and with such grace. His dance is very fancy, with jumps and spins. He dances like a young man. I know this Grandfather, he has been a teacher to me before. I have seen him dance many times, but never have I seen him move so smoothly and gracefully. He has on moccasins I have never seen before. They are the most beautiful beaded moccasins I have ever seen. I am so touched by Grandfather's dance. Watching him, moves my heart and fills me with an awe and peace I have never felt before. 'How is Grandfather able to move like that?' I ask myself. 'He is 82 years old, but yet he is moving like he is 20.' This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
As the dance ends and people lieve the circle I run over to met Grandfather. I complement Grandfather on his dance, and tell him how moved I was watching him dance.
"Grandfather, how can you move like that? That was beautiful. And those moccasins, they have to be the most beautiful I have ever seen. Where did you get them?"
Grandfather does not reply right away. I see that he is looking down at my feet. I look down to where his eye are focused. He is looking at my moccasins. They are old and worn, with holes in them. But they are very comfortable, I have had them many moons. Grandfather looks up at me, our eyes meet.
"They are magic." He smiles and says in a whisper. He goes on as her sees my bewilderment.
"The moccasins, they are magic, thats how I can dance like that. They give me the Spirit power to move like a young man, it is not me that dances, it is the Spirits, they just use my feet because I have their moccasins on." I am amazed at what Grandfather is telling me. He is very serious and is not joking.
"Really? The magic of the moccasins is how you can dance like that?" I ask in amazement.
"They can do more than make you dance like that. Watch." He says as he kicks the moccasins off, bends down and picks them up. He hands them to me. I feel a spark of energy as I take them in my hands. A warm feeling runs up my arms and fills my whole being. It is a wonderful tingling sensation unlike anything I have ever felt. I am honored to hold these wonderful medicine moccasins. They are completely covered in beautiful bead work. Medicine wheels, flowers, native symbols and bright colors all over them.
"Thank you Grandfather for letting me hold these, I am very honored." I say as I hold them out to hand them back to Grandfather.
"No, I want you to have them." Grandfather replies.
"No I can not except such a gift, Grandfather these are to nice for me to take them from you." I  respond.
Grandfather laughs and says,"I want you to have them, besides, look at my feet." I look down and see that he has on another pair of moccasins just like these ones. I am confused.
Grandfather laughs again and goes on to explain. "I told you, these are magic moccasins, not only do they help me dance fine, but if I take them off and give them to some ones else a new set magically reappears on my feet again. Now you need those moccasins, yours are old and worn out, and now you can dance like me with these moccasins I have given you. And you can do the same thing as me. You can some day give those moccasins away and new ones will reappear on your feet. But do not give them away freely. Watch others closely, see how they dance. Only give your magic moccasins to someone who really wants to dance with honor and respect, make sure they really need them and will honor them. They do not have to be Native, as you can see the dance circle is for all people, they just must have a good heart and really want to dance the circle. You can dance the circle in full view of the public and show your moccasins as you dance. But never put them in the shop window, and never sell them or give them to someone that does not believe in their magic. If you ever do that, your moccasins will loose their power and the beads will fall off. They will become old and fall a part. But if you honor the moccasins and do as I have said, they will always be magic and you will be able to dance the beautiful dance, and even pass the magic dance and moccasins on.
The dance circle=the circle of life.
     The dance=spirituality.
     The moccasins=spirit & sacred teachings.

Conscious Conception.
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Religion and Philosophy

Conscious Conception.

Lets do a little dictionary surfing...What is consciousness? Webster's dictionary defines as such. "Being conscious. Perception of mind. Awareness of conscious. What is Conscious...Sensation or perception of sensation. Sensible (active senses). To feel. What is Perception...Act, or process of perceiving. Discernment. Conception, or awareness of thought. What is Conception...Act of conceiving, being conceived, creation. What is Conceive...To have, form, or create. Now lets look at the word "instinct"...Spontaneous, or natural impulse, or knowing. Consciousness without experience. Intuitive feeling. Inspired from within. I have started with the meaning of these words to set up an understanding before going into what I wish to write about here.
When does conscious or consciousness begin? Well, at the moment of conception with humans the sperm meets the egg, become one and life begins. A magical thing happens in that moment. The DNA double helix of both the man and woman opens up and splits. One helix of each brakes away from the whole and one helix from the man merges with one helix from the woman, forming a new double helix. New life begins, the child is conceived. Now science knows that there are gens of both the man and woman that make up the genetics of the new life. Physical traits like eye color, hair color and such are passed on to the fetus making it what it will become. We now know that more than physical traits are passed on in this process, also behavior traits are passed on. The cause and effect of environmental stress is also passed on. A memory of the environment and the mind and bodies ways of coping with it are passed on. Also, instinctual consciousness is passed on. A baby knows what the Mom's breast is and knows how to feed. We do not have to teach the baby this, it knows by instinct how to eat and where the food is. A baby knows love, happiness, and fear. Babies will smile, cry, and feel emotion. It does not have to learn these things, these things are already a part of its consciousness. So even before a body begins to form in the womb genetic consciousness is present. So there is a DNA consciousness. What kind of consciousness comes next? Well, as the fetus forms the first body part to show life is the heart. The heart starts pumping way before the brain is formed. We now know that there is a place in the heart that has cells that are almost identical to brain cells. So when people say, "think with the heart" there really is something to that. The heart knows that it must pump blood to feed the rest of the body so it can grow and develop. Then later the brain becomes active. So this tells us that there is some kind of consciousness within the heart. So now we see there is in fact three forms of consciousness within a human body. DNA, heart, and brain consciousness. Some may call it the spirit, heart, and mind. Or spiritual, emotional or mental, and physical bodies. I feel that the emotional is something in between the mind and heart. It takes both the mind and heart to feel, process, and express emotion. A fetus does not shed tears or smile until both the heart and brain are formed. But even within the womb a baby will cry and smile. Once the heart and brain are formed the fetus feels, and expresses emotion, it responds to its womb environment and the Mothers environment. It experiences the outside world through its Mother before it is even born.
As we go through life experiencing and growing, all forms of consciousness are present and active. Our DNA or genetic consciousness perceives and responds to the experiences of the environment around us. Our heart consciousness perceives and responds emotionally to what the mind processes from the experiences of the environment around us. The mind consciousness perceives and responds to the environment around us based on what our senses are subjected to. What the minds perception is of what we see, feel and experience will determine the messages sent to the heart and DNA. The problem with this is that our senses can be fooled, our perceptions can be misperceptions. When that happens the wrong messages are sent to the body and the responses from that may not be conducive to the over all health of the body. So what and how we perceive our senses causes us to form a belief, what we believe governs the bodies function and response to what and how we have perceived our environment. What we sense is done so through vibration. Light, sound, taste, and feel are vibrations from the world around us, all things have frequencies that our senses experience, perceive and process so we can form a belief and respond to that belief. Cause and effect, action and response. So truly what we believe we will manifest. If we believe our environment will give us cancer than our faith in what we have perceived could very well manifest what we believe.
All of this receiving and transmitting is not just an internal thing. The body does not just receive from the outside world and transmit response internally, the transmitted response is external as well. There was a study done where two people that had never met before were given time together to converse and get to know each other in a plan white room with no external influences. The focus was on each other with as little outside distraction as posable. Then the two people were placed in white rooms by them selves one mile a part from each other. They were told to think of the other person and their experience of getting to know each other. One of these people was subjected to a strobe light, the other was not. The brain waves of each person were monitored. The brain waves of the person subjected to the strobe light started forming a wave response that was triggered by the strobe light. The person a mile away that was not subjected to the strobe light started to produce the same exact brain waves. What is this telling us? Well it seems to be saying that there was a connection formed between the two people and what one experiences the other also experienced. In every cell of our bodies there are genetic receivers and transmitters. So this study shows that a transmission of light was received and processed by one persons senses, that was intern processed by the genetics of the cells of that body and a response was transmitted not only to that body but to the other person and the outside world. This seems to be telling us that we are all connected in ways and on levels that we do not completely understand. We go through life trying to be individuals, when really we are more than individuals, we are in fact all a part of each other and our environment. As we go through life our belief system develops based on what we learn through experience. A social programming of belief forms. In todays human world we have a tendency to live and process our experiences more through the mind or brain than through our heart. We are told that if we see a spirit or something not programmed into us as a natural part of our environment then it must not be real. We imagined it, so maybe we are not normal or are dysfunctional in some way. But is that really what is going on? The collective consciousness of our being experienced something and made a perception of it based on our belief. Should we dismiss it because it may not go along with the social belief established? It was a real experience for that person, just as real as any other experience they have had. What would happen if we did not put up a wall to that seeming unreal experience? The wall is the programmed social belief that has been instilled by what is socially except-able. That wall closes us to a deeper understanding of what we have experienced, and could very well produce a response that is unhealthy to the whole body. "Whole body" meaning, body, mind, and spirit. The instilled response is, "you are nuts, you saw a spirit or something that is not considered natural based on a socially determined belief." This causes a genetic response in our cells that may not be healthy to the body. We often farther the damage by taking drugs to fix the "defective" perception we had in that experience. In doing so we cause our health greater harm and also have missed a chance to learn what that experience has to teach us. So what can we learn from all this? In todays world when we are unhealthy we often seek to treat the effect and not the cause of the effect. If you keep hitting your foot with a hammer and go see a doctor for it, the doctor is not going to tell you to stop hitting your foot with a hammer, he will try to give you a pill to stop the pain, and may even recommend cutting your foot off. Now that is an extreme example, but you get my point. If you have pain in your foot, that is a response signal sent to your brain, the brain intern sends signals to your heart and genetic consciousness and in response the body produces all the healing chemicals and things your body needs to heal it self. If we block the pain signal then we have blocked the healing. We all do not want to experience the pain, we want the quick fix. This is a product of social programming. If we programmed our selves to embrace the pain and have patients to ride out the healing process we would not have hardly as many health problems today. Setting our belief to seeing pain as a good thing, a healing thing, rather than looking at it as a bad thing or harmful thing, then we set the body up to heal it self. We can nurture the body through it with the use of our environment by subjecting our selves to sights, sounds, smells, and things that make us feel good, this positive perception of what is experienced from what is around us will set up a healing process within us. Not only that but having compassion for each other sends healing messages or vibrations from one person to another. We have the capability to heal our selves of any illness. God made us that way. If you can feel my pain because you have empathy for me, than surly you can help me heal with your compassion. When a person is told they have terminal cancer and that they will die, one of two things happen. One, they totally believe they are dieing and do just that, sometimes much faster than they would of if they never knew they had cancer. The other thing that sometimes happens is they have a life changing experience from learning of their terminal condition. They see how short life is and they want to live it to the full as much as they can for what time they have left. They have fun, they do things they always wanted to but never did because they were so caught up in what the societal standard was for how they should live. These are the people that experience miracle healing. they live much longer than expected and many are healed completely. State of mind, sets state of healing or hurt depending totally on our belief of what is or will be. That my friends is faith. So through control of our mind and belief we set up the heart and genetics within our cells to either heal or hurt our over all body. Not only do we have total influence over our own bodies, but also over the world around us. Think about all this. With the state of the world today we feel hopeless. But really we can all make a big difference, not only within our selves but with the whole world around us. We feel Mother Earths pain with all that we have done to her. We see and feel the pain of others and our selves. But what are we doing to heal our selves and the Earth and each other? What can we do? We can heal the Earth, we can heal each other, we can heal our selves. We all have this ability, each and everyone of us has the gift of healing. It is part of who we are as God has made us that way. So how do we do it? How do we heal? Well, some of us try to go out and do what we can with physical action, like picking up trash, protesting to change laws, many many ways we try. This is all good, and needs to be done. But there is more, actions like that are not enough. There are many other things we can do, the biggest things we can do start by looking deep within our selves and seek to change what is going on within our self, and seek to give from within our selves to the world around us. Doing this has the potential to bring healing on a global scale we can not even imagine possible. The more science studies the DNA coding and how genetic switch's are being turned on and off based on our perception of what we experience the closer we get to knowing that faith or belief governs all of nature. What we send out from within us is felt by all that is around us, and what is sent to us from all around us if felt within us.
Just some things to think about. I could write much more about all this, but that is enough for now.

What is time, when is the "new year" really?

When is the "new year" really?

We look at time based on a conceptual system that is not really a tangible thing, but a conceptual thing. Its a clock on the wall or a calender. But what is time really?

In Native or indigenous traditional societies around the world time was not thought of as a concept, it was referred to and thought of as something tangible, something in the physical here and now not a conceptual perception. If I were a native of 100s of years ago and wanted to meet you some where at a given time and place, I would not have used a conceptual term to tell you that. I would not have said, "I will meet you at such and such place at this date and this time." I would of said it in a way that relates to the physical world, not an idea of what time was, but an actual reference to what time is. I would of said, "I will meet you at the big red rock by the oak tree near the river when the moon is in the corn planting season when the yellow lily flowers are in bloom." Or something along those lines. This is expressed in a way that is related to things we see and know to be real parts of our world, not an expression of a conceptual idea. It keeps us connected to who we are and where we are.

So by looking at our world in this way, when would the new year really be? Maybe it would be in the time when the seasons end and begin again. I would say the real new year begins in the spring on the equinox. Thats when the winter is complete and the new season starts again. All the plants and animals and nature it self start responding to this time as the beginning of a new season. This way of looking at time makes more sense to me. It keeps me more grounded to the world around me and puts me in a frame of thinking that connects me to the world I live in rather than disconnecting me from the world around me by putting my focus on a conceptual idea of what the world around me is. Just something to think about.

Elements, colors of people, and DNA memory.

Okay, heres a really hard concept to put into words. But I'll try. This is part of one of my books. So any feedback is much appreciated.

Elements, colors of people, and DNA memory.

Different people get the sacred teachings given in different ways so they will understand. Not so one is more right or more wrong than another. Nevertheless, all these teachings are essential to all the other teachings. We are meant to share our different ways to understand the over all insight Creator is trying to gift us. All colors of people have there gifted teachings and they are meant to be shared and understood by all the other colors of people. On the Native medicine wheel, the four colors are represented in the four cardinal directions. The stages of life and the seasons of the year are also represented in these directions. The stages of life, and the seasons are represented like this... East is the place of spring time, and the infant and unborn stage of life, South is the place of summer time, and the youth stage of life, West is the place of fall time, and the adult stage of life, North is the place of winter, and the elder stage of life. Also represented in these directions are the four different colors of people and the elements. I will get into the elemental association of the colors of people a little later in this written work. For now, I have some concepts that need some introduction first.
Natives are the descendents of those that hold a very powerful key to learning to walk in harmony with our Earth Mother. Those with Native DNA lines have a memory locked within that is to be shared. Here is an example of DNA memory.
If you take, a seed of corn from say Hopi land, and plant it here in Maine. Hopi corn loves HOT sand. Say you plant it here in Maine and get it to grow to seed. Then take the seed from that crop and grow it again. By the 4 generation that seed has completely adjusted its self to Maine conditions. It remembers what the last generation lived in. It remembers throw genetic DNA memory past on from one generation to the next.
We humans have that genetic memory to; we work on a 7-generation cycle. The circle again shows it's self in creation cycles. Everything tries to be round or work in cycles. Here is another example:
A humming bird flies to South America for the winter. It takes 4 generations for the humming birds to complete there migration. The 4th generation remembers where the first started. Memory is pasted on from one generation to the next.
So all people have this too, no matter their color or genetic make up. However, on a 7 generation cycle. All colors of people have sacred teachings that are needed to make a complete harmonic way of living. So all must learn to remember that witch is locked in the DNA to make the healing complete. Only by learning to open that heart consciousness and genetic memory can it be done. It all has to do with the elements of life.
Red people hold the sacred teachings of the earth element.
White people hold the teachings of the fire element.
Yellow people hold the teachings of the air element.
Black people hold the teachings of the water element.
This is a concept believed and held in many cultures around the world. All these elementals are needed for life to be. However, we ALL hold three other elements. They are energy elements. The energies of male, female, and spirit. You see this in spiritual ceremonies. All most all sacred ceremonies of all people honor the coming together of the male, female, and spirit for creation and sustenance of life. The bottom line is one is useless without the other, and as long as humans forget about the sacred elementals and the coming together of them then the circle remains broken. We all play a part in living on Mother Earth.
Moreover, the new babies are coming into the world already knowing these things and with gifts; their DNA memory is more complete and intact. The Tibetan teachings say that a young child knows all the knowledge of creation for the first 7 years of life. There is the # 7 again with us humans. The genetic memory again.
Therefore, what are the elemental teachings associated with the different colors of people? I have already spoken of what element is associated with what color of people. Now let us look at what each element has to offer in its characteristics, and how those characteristic teachings are associated with people of different colors. It is already clear that all the elements must work together for the creation and sustenance of all life. Hence, all colors of people must work together for the maintaining of all life.
Let us look at the element of Earth. The earth element has been most often associated with the red people of the world. So what are some of the physical characteristics associated with the element of earth? Nature, growth, cycles, harmonic activity, observation, and stability to name a few. Now Spirit energy seems to be the most prominent energy element associated with earth. Traditional Native people lived very closely with nature. They learned how to survive in a harmonious way with nature by watching nature and learning from all the natural cycles of nature. They walked ceremonially every mome
