What’s worse, TV or Movies?

In my opinion, TV is the worse evil because of two reasons:
1. Commercialization.
2. Quality of programming.
When you watch a TV show, you are inundated with commercials for everything from the latest chicken sandwich to the newest clothes (and of course you're a loser if you aren't wearing the same as everyone else). If you are one of the hundreds of thousands of people that sit in front of a TV all day, these commercials can completely engulf your brain and eventually take away your individuality. Especially for young children. How many McDonald's Hip-Hop ads can a child watch before they get sucked into that lifestyle?
Most TV programs are aimed at mindless sheeple, unable to think for themselves, brainwashed since birth; they are the followers of society's darlings. But they can be the snoopiest damn followers— Reality TV has taken over nearly all Primetime slots.
Look at American Idol, have you ever seen such a pathetic group of losers over the years? Yet, this is what the majority of adolescent teens and their mothers (probably soccer moms) seem to adore. I heard today that Clay Aiken is fathering a child... Somebody shoot me now!
TV is increasingly getting better, however, with channels such as the History Channel, the variations of the Discovery Channel and even PBS, if you can catch it between Barney and the Teletubbies ;)
Movies are everything that TV is not. As long as you skip ahead to the beginning of the movie on your DVD (if you're at the movies you are SOL and probably an idiot anyways as I don't think I have ever been able to enjoy a movie at the theater without some asshole fucking it up) you are free from the barrage of previews (with a few well placed commercials snuck in there) and you are less likely to be thinking of food, beer, clothes or the latest cRAP album every 10 minutes. You can actually focus on the movie that YOU got to choose and even better— you can choose the time in which to watch it! I laugh when people say "I have to get home by 4 to see Oprah!" There are SO many poor souls that schedule their entire day around TV shows, how pathetic.
I love horror/suspense/historical movies and when I get into a good movie, I don't want to be interrupted every 10 minutes by anything, much less the latest Time-Life musical collection. I'm a big fan of Rob Zombie movies, The Devil's Rejects is one of my favorite movies. But to watch this movie on TV would ruin it for me. I don't care what time Wife Swap comes on, nor do I care who's getting kicked off of So You Think You Can Dance. So why do I have to be subjected to this during a movie? I don't, that's why my TV came with a power button.
Darkness, the night is black as he walks down the wooded path. The sound of crisp autumn leaves crunching as he walks is all the darkness needs. A shadow moves in the night, noiselessly. The unaware human walking, hears the growl... Bones splinter as teeth crunch down onto his arm. The human's screams turn to gurgles as claws slash across his throat slicing three long gashes that spew blood in all directions. The jerking body goes limp and all that is heard is the biting and chewing of flesh and bone as razor sharp teeth tear the lifeless body apart. Shredded skin and muscle hang from the bones as the moon appears from behind a cloud and shines down brightly upon the mutilated body. A long, fierce, haunting howl is heard thoughout the forest, then the brush parts as the shadow disappears into the darkness. Another cloud glides across the moon and the forest is dark again. An hour passes. Footsteps crashing through the leaves, giggling and laughing is heard as two young lovers stumble down the path. The shadow glides unheard toward the path again. Ahhh, this one should be most fun indeed... Joe had his arm around Mary as they stumbled down the darkened path. She tripped over a rock, grabbing onto him and giggling. "Easy, Mary, we should be there soon." The sign had said 1.2 miles. It wouldn't be that long of a walk to the cabin on the ridge, he had been there several times before. It was so dark here. The moon was playing hide and seek behind the clouds, appearing for only moments at a time. Plus the howl they had heard earlier. He had been coming to this campground for years now and had never heard of there being any wolves here. Maybe it was just a coyote, he thought to himself. Imagination tends to run wild in the dark, I probably just over-exaggerated it. Mary stumbled over something again, giggling. The drinks from earlier had really taken a toll on her. He grinned. We will have some fun in the cabin tonight, Mary, my dear. The cabin was actually just that. A large cabin with 12 bunk beds lining the walls. The youth camp used it when they came here, but it should be empty tonight. Located on top of the ridge it gave a spectacular view of these gorgeous mountains. Joe grinned again. It's not a view I'm after tonight. What luck that Mary had actually had the time to come on this trip with him. With her career in sales and him working third shift at the plant, they rarely had time to see each other in the eight months they had been dating. Mary tripped, falling completely down this time. "Dammit, Joe, you're supposed to be holding me." "Sorry, love." He bent down to help her up just as he heard a loud rustling in the bushes and something large flew over his head landing in the bushes on the other side of the path. Mary stared, "What the fuck was th..." "Run," Joe yelled, pulling her to her feet. He heard a snarling and growling coming from the bushes. "Mary, run towards the cabin," he shouted. He picked up a large rock and threw it toward the growling. Then he turned and ran the opposite way Mary had. He heard the creature behind him. Good, as long as it's not chasing Mary. He ran through the woods, brush tearing at his clothes. He could hear the snorting, the sniffing, the throaty growling, the crashing growing ever closer behind him. It was too dark to see well and he kept hitting low hanging branches as he ran. It crossed his mind that perhaps one of them could put his eye out, but that thought left quickly as he realized if he slowed, he would lose much more than that. The moon reappeared from the clouds and he could actually see again. A building appeared off to the left and he quickly turned and headed straight for it. He could still hear the creature behind him, but it appeared to be further back now. Perhaps it is tiring, he thought to himself. "Yeah, sure, wishful thinking" he said aloud as he finally stumbled up to front door. It was a small shed and he could see no house or other buildings around. He opened the door and slammed it behind him, fumbling with the latch. Joe felt it slide just as the creature slammed into the side of the shed. Luckily it was made of thick wood and while the entire building shook, it did not give. He fell against the back wall sliding down until he was sitting on the ground. Yes, he realized, it is ground. Just dirt and small rocks. No floor. Great, now all he has to do is dig his way under the walls. He could hear heavy footsteps and more sniffing and growling as the creature circled the building. As Joe sat, huddled against the wall, he noticed a little light shining on the floor. Looking up he saw there was a small window above his head. The moon had apparently been hiding again and now reappeared sending light into Joe's prison. Looking around, he could see only a large wooden shelf that extended from wall to wall around the entire shed. Other than that, it was empty. He sighed, realizing that any tools or other objects that could be useful to him had long been removed. A shattering sound and shards of glass falling all around him let him know the creature had found the window above. He sprinted for the door, throwing a glance behind him. The window was a small one and the creature was hanging halfway in the window and appeared to be stuck. In the darkness, he couldn't see the face, but whatever this creature was, it was obviously much larger than Joe. He unlatched the door, flinging it open and fled into the woods again. He ran for several minutes until he reached a small clearing. He got about halfway across when he stopped cold and dropped to his knees. A bloody dress lay about ten yards away under a lone tree. The ground all around it was saturated with blood. He got back up and ran to it. He began gagging as he reached the dress, seeing the pieces of flesh and bone, ripped apart and scattered around. "Mary." he whispered, as he fell to the ground in front of what was left of her. He picked up her bloody, shredded dress, holding it out in front of him. "Oh Mary," he sobbed, "I thought you had gotten away..." He glanced up as he heard a fierce drawn out howl. It hadn't come from behind him either, it was in front of him in the woods. Another howl sounded, this one to his right, then another to his left. A crashing from the woods made him jump to his feet. A dark shadow was crossing the clearing quickly coming towards him. He looked around, grabbing a large rock and waited. He strained his eyes as he tried to figure out what this creature from Hell looked like. It came closer, snarling and growling and he could see it. It was a wolf, but it was the biggest goddam wolf he had ever seen. He slung the rock, catching the charging wolf squarely on the nose. It yelped and retreated back into the woods. "Come on, fuckers" Joe screamed into the darkness. He picked up a large branch that had fallen from the tree nearby and spun in a circle keeping his eyes peeled. This time he didn't hear anything, but he could see the shadows approaching as he backed up against the tree. They weren't charging this time, just boldly strolling towards him, one in front and one coming from each side. No snarling, no growling, complete silence as they seemed to glide across the ground. Sweat was running down Joe's face, even though a cool breeze was blowing through the clearing. He focused his eyes on the lead wolf in the front. You're first, the others are going to get me, but not you. He charged towards the wolf, yelling, his branch held behind his head like a baseball bat. The wolf let out a snarl and took a giant leap towards him. Joe stopped and swung the branch as hard as he could. It smacked the wolf directly across the face and he saw the wolf's head snap back as blood splattered from the battered jaw. It fell to the ground and he could see shadows coming at him from both sides. He hit the ground as well, just as they lept. The two wolves collided above him and fell off to the side snarling and yelping in pain. Joe crawled a few feet before getting to his feet and running for the woods. He glanced back and saw that two of the wolves were already back on their feet. The one he had whacked with the branch still lay on the ground jerking. Told you, motherfucker. Now was certainly not the time for gloating though, the other two were chasing after him again. So he ran, fighting his way through bushes, briars and branches, not even feeling the pain as they ripped at his skin, trying to cling to him, not wanting to let go. Finally, he saw a path heading up a steep hill. He could hear the wolves crashing through the woods behind him. They were still a good ways back though, the briars apparently hindering them, as well. He reached the top of the hill, gasping for breath and suddenly realized where he was. He almost cried for joy. The cabin wasn't even twenty yards away. He ran again, sucking air the best he could until he reached the door. He slammed it behind him, falling to the floor. Yes, he thought, this one has a floor. And NO windows! And it was well built. This whole cabin was made of heavy logs and would easily withstand blows from even these large wolves. He sat back against the wall and tried to think. No one knew him and Mary had made this trip, so he knew not to expect a rescue team anytime soon. Perhaps someone would find Mary's body and... he dropped his head into his hands as he thought of her. It's my fault, I brought her here. If only we had stayed home, she didn't want to come anyways. He cried into his hands, cursing these creatures of darkness. I have to get out of here. Or at least find some light, how much longer until daybreak? The BOX! His head snapped up suddenly. Yes, there used to be a box in this cabin. It had flashlights, a first aid kit and lanterns among other items. He had seen it here before. He felt along the wall moving around the beds and there it was. Unlocked, as it always had been. I'm surprised no little punks have been here and stolen this shit yet. He found a flashlight and turned it on. There was a lantern, as well as matches. He lit the lantern, enjoying the light finally. The flame flickered making the shadows dance along the walls.. He could hear sniffing and rustling outside, but for now it didn't matter. Even when one let out a long, haunting howl right outside the door. I'm safe for now, he thought, and all I can do is wait...

For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command or faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. I can't say I believe in god. If, in fact, I ever find out that he does indeed exist, I think I'll stay away from him, because if he's responsible for half the things he gets credit for, he's got to be one mean son of a bitch. - Peter Gethers
Soon the child's clear eye is clouded over by ideas and opinions, preconceptions and abstractions. Simple free being becomes encrusted with the burdensome armor of the ego. It is like most other ancient books – a mingling of falsehood and truth, of philosophy and folly – all written by men, and most of the men only partially civilized. Some of its laws are good – some infinitely barbarous. None of the miracles related were performed. . . . I have examined all the known superstitions of the word, and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology. Where is love? I do not know. What is love? I cannot show. When will all this darkness end? I will not care to come here again.
The rocking horse has gone away, no longer can the little boy play. They tried to teach those who were scared, the tortured souls of those who cared.
I want to be free and fly with the birds. No longer is loneliness just a word. Now it's become a way of life, too long have I been under the knife.
The days of innocence long are past. Darkness has buried me in it's cast. Life has gone from my heart and soul, in my mind there is no life I know.
Take my heart, my lover, my friend. My screams echo endlessly through the wind. Your lips are poison, your kiss is death, your words are daggers, I've lost my breath.
Wake me in the spring when the cold is gone. There is no happiness in being alone. My heart is cold, my eyes are gone, but still I have visions of coming home
Now they have come to take me away. They can't find my body, where does it lay? I cannot move, my life is gone. Mama, I don't think I'll make it home.
Where have all the people gone to? Dead, victims of love not true. Dreams are shattered, reality is here. My screams are real, whom do I fear?
They are back from beyond the grave. I am their prisoner, I am their slave. Conscious I am, I can't move around. Why have they buried me underground?
Where is the light? I cannot see. But someone is there watching me. Where can I go when life is gone? What is morality when you're alone?
I must go somewhere, where can I go? Depression surrounds the world I know. The pain, the sorrow, I will not cry, For what is laughter but getting high?
The weeping voices echo in my head. The demons surround me, the living dead. The wails, the screams, the whisper, the curse, the agony of pain will not disperse.
The pain is great, I will not cry. I've been left here alone to die. Buried deep within my fears. Troubled minds that shed no tears.
All sense of time has long been gone. Subconscious visions I can't condone.
