The Biggest Loser ~ Quick Peak~
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

Hey everyone.  I was just wondering how you all are doing?  I've been busy here and there.  Went to the gym twice this week and burned off over 400 calories each time.  But of course, that was in the morning, so all my calories came back .. the day was over...lol

I had to go back to the gynecologist this morning for a new pap smear(the dr. needed me to do another one) and I weighed myself.  In the past 2 weeks I've lost 4 pounds, went from 124 lbs to 120 lbs.  So that is now my weight.  I am going to do my best to get down to between 112-114 by Thanksgiving.....than in between Thanksgiving and Christmas either maintain the weight or lose the pound or two I will have gained during that time.  We'll see how that works out.

My measurements are as followed:

Weight:   120 lbs

Bicep:  10.5 inches

Waist:  271/2 inches

Hips:  36 inches

Thigh:  20 inches

~~~~~~~
Ok, so I am not doing that bad since the end of The transformation contest.  My results were pretty much along the same lines, just that I put on a few extra pounds that I had shed off back then.  So, this makes me feel really optimistic that I can do it again and stay fit........
Welcome along this journey with me......
I hope you all join me and we become the biggest losers together.....lol
Calorie Calculator(Calculating for Weight loss)
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
This is great.  I just calculated how much calories a day I need to take in in order to lose weight.  This is from Gold's Gym, so I've used it in the past and it has helped me.
Step 1                                                                           Examples
Your current weight                                                      Ex.  180 lbs
Step 2
Conservatively rate yourself on the following activity scale
14= inactive (a sedentary office worker)                      Ex. highly active 17
15= slightly inactive (occasional games of golf or walks)
16= moderately active (frequent jogging, calisthenics, tennis)
17= highly active ( almost always on the go, seldom sitting down or standing still)
18= very highly active or strenuously active (athlete in training)
Step 3
Multiply step 1 X Step 2                                         Ex. 180 lbs X 17= 3060
This is your caloric intake to maintain your current weight.  It is the caloric intake amount that will keep your weight at it's current level.
Step 4
Determine your weekly caloric intake
Answer for Step 3 X7=                                          Ex. 3060 X 7= 21,420
This is your weekly intake to maintain your current weight.
Step 5
Answer for Step 4 - 3500 calories                        Ex. 21,420 -3500=17,920
Step 6
Divide answer for Step 6 /7                                   Ex. 17,920/7=2560
Step 7
Now you know an estimate of how many calories you need to lose weight.    Aprox. 2500 calories
Ok, so here goes mine.....
Current weight = 124 lbs.  I am moderately active as I do go to the gym 3 -5 days a week.  Which would be the number 16.  So 124 X 16=1984.  This is how much calories I take in now a day to maintain my weight.  To determine my weekly caloric intake I will times 1984 X7= 13,888.  Next I will subtract 3500 calories which brings me down to 10,388.  Divide this by 7 and I get 1,484.  So in order to lose weight my calorie intake per day should not exceed 1484.
Let me know if you understand how to do this, so you can find out your own caloric intake per day in order to lose weight.
Mamalicious’ The Biggest Loser Goals and Hopes
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
Hey everyone.  I hope you are all as psyched as I am to get this party started.  Ok, I have quite a few goals and reasons why I want to lose some weight.
My goals:
1.  To lose 10-15 pounds in the next 12 weeks.
2.  To look and feel healthier and lose inches off my waist and hips.
3.  To eat more nutritiously and do it for me, and no one else.
4.  To turn heads when I enter a room....lol(ok, so that's a little more subjective...lol)
5.  To be able to work out fully for one hour straight and not feel as if I was a hit by a freight train when the hour was up.
Reasons:
I felt at my best back in May when I had finished the Transformation program at Gold's Gym.  I was 10 pounds lighter than I am now, and I felt light on my feet.  Over the summer I let myself go.  I didn't work out at the gym for nearly 2 months and somehow the weight crept back up.  Plus I wasn't paying attention to the foods I put in my mouth like I did during the 12 week program there.  I want to go back to it , but this time there's no monetary reward in it for me, just me knowing I am doing good for my mind, body and health!
Ok, girls, go ahead and leave your goals down below.  I will be updating my goals as soon as I get home this morning after the gym.  I haven't yet taken my measurements and I want to lose inches as well as weight.  So I'll be back.......
Stay Away From These Snacks...........
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
I've been searching the net for healthy, but yummy recipes for the contestants in my Biggest Loser contest.  In the meantime I came across this article 10 Things to Never Eat From Vending Machines
Since I am not a working mom, I don't need to worry about these.  However, some of you contestants are.  So I will just break down this article a bit and tell you the snacks to stay away from and what their calories and fat intake are.
Nacho Cheesier! Doritos
(1 serving = 140 calories, 8g fat, 17g carbs, 1g fiber)
Cheetos
(1 serving = 160 calories, 10g fat, 15g carbs, <1g fiber)
Chili Cheese Fritos
(1 serving = 160 calories, 10g fat, 15g carbs, 1g fiber)
Sun Chips
(1 serving = 140 calories, 6g fat, 18g carbs, 2g fiber)
Twinkies
(1 cake = 150 calories, 4.5g fat, 27g carbs, 0 fiber)
Mrs. Freshley's Jumbo Honey Bun
(1 package = about 590 calories, 29g fat, 76g carbs, 2g fiber)
Snickers
(1 bar = 280 calories, 14g fat, 35g carbs, 1g fiber)
Twix
(1 package = 280 calories, 14g fat, 37g carbs, 1g fiber)
Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts
(1 Pop-Tart = 210 calories, 7g fat, 34g carbs, <1g carbs)
Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookies
(4 cookies = 150 calories, 7g fat, 20g carbs, <1g fiber)
Wow, as far as the twinkies are concerened I always assumed you were supposed to and should eat both.  I love those things, but after reading the calories and fat intake I think I will be staying far away from them.  Now for those of you who aren't sure about carb intake, just think of carbs being bad for you if you overdue it.  Carbs turn into and break down into sugar in your body.  So although you need a certain amount of carbohydrates in your body, you shouldn't go over the amount that your body needs.
If you have a refrigerator in your office somewhere the best bet is to bring snakcs from home.  Yogurt is one of the best snacks you can have.  So is fruits and vegetables.  If you have time the night before, actually while you are packing your kids lunch, pack a small bag of snacks for yourself as well.  A small to medium apple, an orange, a ziploc bag of grapes or baby carrots should do.  Also keep a small ziploc bag of granola, nuts and raisins in your car for when you are feeling a pang of sweetness coming on.  Rather than drive to your local Dunkin Donuts drivethru(like someone I know - me) for a donut you'll have already beaten that pang. Any one of these snacks  should suffice.  In the morning make yourself a fruit smoothie.  Use whatever fruits, and/or yogurt you have around.  I've used bananas, strawberries, blueberries with a cup of yogurt and a cup of ice and maybe a splash of 2% milk and it was delicious.  I will be starting back on those again this week.  My kids actually like them so much that we make them at night for them as their desert.
If you are one of those people who needs to drink coffee in the morning, try and go all natural or plain coffee rather than those specialties from Starbucks.  They are loaded with fat and calories that you just don't need.  Try a fat free creamer or specialty flavored coffees like hazelnut or french vanilla coffee from the brand names you like in supermarkets.
Slowly get away from sugar.  If you are like me and need 2-3 tsps of sugar in your tea(or your case coffee) try to go day by day and just use less sugar.  Before you know it you won't be needing more than half a tsp.  I prefer to drink the flavored teas now, because I don't need sugar in them as they already have a flavor I like to them.  I especially like the green tea with citrus flavors.
When eating your meals it's all about portions.  Don't overflow your plate in anticipation that you are going to eat it all.  Instead put a moderate amount of food on your plate, and tell yourself that if you are still hungry afterwards you can have a healthy snack  and won't feel overdone.  Skip the 2nd and 3rd helpings.  They're not doing anything for you other than making you sleepy, bloated and then a bit anxious because you overate. And with that comes guilt and then the starvation the next day.  Don't go down that path.  It won't do you any good.
~~~Look for updates as I am sure I will be posting more.

The Biggest Loser!
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

    I want to be the Biggest Loser.  Over the summer I gained back all the weight that The the Gold's Gym Transformation  took off of me.  So I am starting The Biggest Loser contest on here.  And I will have prizes for those of you who do well.  However, I need contestants.  I started back to the gym last week, and will start going again 3 days a week.  I can't afford a trainer, so losing all this weight will be me going to the gym and changing my diet, yet again.  I will leave this open until Friday, September 26th.  The Biggest Loser will start on Monday, September 29th and will end on Monday, December 22, 2008.  It will last 12 weeks long.  Monday, November 10th  will mark the halfway mark, and thus, whoever has lost the most weight by then will win a prize of sorts.  So who is in for this fun game?  I am.........I feel like a blimp, and wish i could just keep off this weight and not keep gaining it back.

     Every Friday I will post nutritious and delicious recipes for you as well as I to use.  Anyon who wants to add to that blog may do so.

     Ok, let's get rolling and motivated here........Look for the Biggest Loser blog on Friday.  These blogs will be closed for only those involved.  If you are serious about losing the weight, then for this contst you will need to post your weight, your inches and possibly pictures.  But I want you to understand.  We're all friends here, and rather than be critical of the picture we are all going to applaud and cheer us on to win and lose big!!

    See you at The Biggest Loser blog..........................................

My Sex Text Message...Update!!
Category: Blogging

Last night I had my yearly gynecological visit.  For those of you men who don't know what that is, I'll simplify it for you by saying it was my yearly doctor visit for my female parts.  Tbone(my hubby) gets a kick out of the fact that I have to spread my legs for another man and that it is not for pleasure.  I always whisper in his ear,"how do you know I don't get pelasure from it?"  just to make him squirm a bit.  It's not like he even knows what my doctor looks like.  I mean can you imagine if my doctor looked like Matthew McConaughey.  You women know, I'd be having orgasms just laying there waiting for him to touch me.  But no such luck for this woman.  My doctor, although a bit handsome, is not the kind of guy I am attracted to.  So anyway I was sitting reading my book in the waiting room when I heard a beeping sound from my phone.  Turns out I had 2 text messages.  One was an old one I forgot to delete and then I had a new one.  I figured Tbone was texting me some silly question or something like that.  Afterall, he was home alone with the kids.  So I started to read it and laughed out loud.  Of course, I'm thinking Tbone is being a bit perverted and horny.  This is the text message I got:

Are you wet?  Do you want to get wet?

This is where I was cracking up laughing.  Of course I thought it was from Tbone.  So I continued reading.....

For .99min we can take care of that

OMG, I thought.  These sex phone ads found my cell phone number.  This sux!!  Can you imagine if I texted back?  I would have gotten one large ass cell phone bill.  And who knows I might wound up getting really wet before my doctor's appointment.

Ok, hope this put a smile on some of your faces....and maybe in your pants as well...lol

UPDATE 09/19/08

So, after coming home from the gym this morning I see that I received another sext message.  It said it was from my sister  Rosie and this time it said as follows:

R u wet? Do you want to get wet? Call me for a good time.

Funny thing is that I never told my sister what happened.  So I call my  hubby up at work and sure enough he tells me the truth.  It was him all along!  He was able to do it through the Verizon's Webpage.  That F***er!!  Ok, so I guess Tbone is the man to call to if you want to do some fun pranks!!

If you haven't read it yet, stop by:

The New Face of CoverGirl & The Everyday Woman
Category: Blogging

     The past few years I've noticed something about women.  They're starting to realize that age is just a number, and that it doesn't define who they are. I've also noticed that either I am getting old, or the new models in my favorite lingerie catalogue, Victoria's Secret, is getting younger and younger.  I hope that I don't ever feel old, and always stay as young as I feel.  At the moment I am back at the gym and trying to stay fit, and healthy looking.  Being healthy, that is the most important key here.  And not having a number, like our age define us, is actually pretty healthy.

     As a teenager I kept up with the times by reading all the magazines like Glamour, Vogue, Cosmopolitan and such.  Through every page you saw what a Super Model was supposed to look like.  Even back then commercials for hair and makeup products were done by models.  That's not the case anymore.  I'd say in the past 5-10 years the marketers have finally gotten it right.  They're on to something, and I hope they don't stop now.  Dove, Revlon, Maybelline, Covergirl, Loreal hair color are all geared towards women.  Not just women who are in the camera's eye, but everyday women like stay at home mom-type women, and the working women.  So it's finally about time that they started using us as their spokes models.  In my opinion, a model who has flawless skin, can have that skin because she earns tons of money to do what she can to make herself look good.  ((Now, you may say I'm wrong in that the models they use for certain commercials are in the camera's eye.  You're right they are, but they're not Super Models.  They're actresses.  So although they have money in and of itself, they did not get liposcution tummies, or nose jobs so they can be a model.)) The everyday woman must decide ok, should I buy that plum red lipstick or should I buy diapers for the baby instead.  Oh, wait I need gas in the car.    So, you wonder where am I going with this.  Well, I just discovered something yesterday.  And before I tell you what it is I learned I want to finish this blog first.

     Have you ever compared yourself to someone?  Anyone famous?  What was your thoughts behind it?  I know I have.  There are tons of women in the limelight who I look at and think I could be her.  I have her determination and her passion.  However, my passion lies in a different path.  I didn't desire to become an actress, or a supermodel.  I chose to be a teacher and then a wife and mother.  But my passion and determination to be the healthy and best woman I can be didn't diminish.  I strive to look my best, to feel my best.  I may not walk down a red carpet or get paid millions of dollars to sell pictures of my kids to the press, but I have dedication and am motivated to make sure that my daughter grows up knowing that being a woman can be the most exciting and rewarding aspect of her life.

     Now let's talk about what I learned yesterday.  There is a contract out for a new Covergirl woman.  She is not glamorous, nor is she a skinny model with perfect skin.  She's actually lesbian comedian who dresses like a man.  I'm sure you know who I am talking about.  Well, for those who don't, here is her picture:

    Can you believe she is also 50 years old?  I'm not sure how you all feel about her, but I've always liked her.  I think it takes a strong woman to make it in a man's world.  Women comedians will tell you it's not easy in that field.  They're not treated the same, nor are they paid the same.  And on top of that, being a lesbian and out about it, couldn't have been any easier for her.

       When I first found out yesterday that she is indeed going ot be the next Covergirl I was a bit disappointed.  I think I was expecting them to pick someone younger and a little more glmaorous looking.  However, I've rethought my opinion and I think it's great!  She's 50, she's not had any plastic surgery that I know of, so she's natural.  Natural beauty is what makes a woman truly shine.

     I've thought about it, and I think that if I ever see a product I truly believe in and use I will submit my photo as well as a synapsis as why I should be the next spokesmodel to endorse it.  Afterall, I am the everyday woman and those products are geared for us.

    Tell me what you think about any one of the things I wrote about.   I truly would love to hear your feedback.

~Ciao for now.......

Without so much as a kiss good bye

you vanished without a trace.

No longer were you beside me in my bed

or inches away from my face.

Heart broken and devastated,

my heart a fragment of what it used to be.

Nothing but a picture left to remind me of you

as my sobs erupted uncontrollably.

The knock on my door that fateful night

filled my senses to the core.

As I looked out the window and saw the patrol car

I knew I shouldn't open the door.

As I breathed in a gasp of air,

and a tear slipped from my eye,

I saw the helmet in his hands

and knew right then that you did die.

You were a cautious rider, that much I knew.

So many times I followed you from behind.

In all your glory,  you were a man of honour,

and another like you I shall never find.

It wasn't your fault, that much I know to be true.

Although I knew this I couldn't help but blame you.

How could you do this to me, leave me here alone,

alone to pick up the pieces without you?

Without so much as a kiss good bye

you vanished without a trace.

No longer were you beside me in my bed

or inches away from my face.

Just a note.  A good friend of ours died in a motorcycle accident a year ago.  It devastated us then, and reminds me all the time when my husband goes out riding to give him an extra hug.  At any moment in our lives we can lose each other.  So I make it a point to kiss him goodbye and let him know how much I love him.  Please drivers out there, be cautious of the road and make sure that you respect other drivers out there as well.  That driver is not necessarily a rebel without a cause, but a family man with a wife and kids at home, patiently waiting his arrival.
