6 years

Today, Lindsey and I have been married for 6 years. It's hard to believe. Time flies and we've already experienced so much. I wonder what the next 6 has waiting for us.

Daddy again
Category: Life

Looks like I'm going to be a daddy again! Linds is about 9-10 weeks preggers. It was not expected, but a nice surprise. I came home after working on one of our houses all day and Lindsey was waiting at the door to tell me. It's going to be so strange having another little one that I will love as much as I do Axel.

Now we have to start the process of name picking again. We still hadn't decided on Axel's name until we rushed Lindsey to the hospital while she was in labor, and on one of the exam beds. She was laying there, with the pain getting worse and I said, "Oh crap!! We have to pick a name!!!"   What a time for her to have to think of such a thing. Thomas Axel was the winner for us both at that moment. We'll try to be more prepared this go around.

Back home where I belong

Well, I've been back for a couple weeks now. It's great to be home with the fam. It's crazy how much Axel has grown and how much he talks now. He repeats everything we say.

I've been keeping myself busy working on new houses we recently bought and other rentals we have. I'm hoping this will keep me working for a while.

Almost outta here

I just have a couple more weeks here. I graduate "A" school on the 3rd of June and I'm finally going home!

During my time here, I've been a squad leader. For any one that is Squad Leader or  above, for the last couple of weeks here, can have either PT (Physical Training) Free or Duty free. I chose PT free, because we PT Mon, Wed, Fri at 4am. I haven't much motivation for doing push ups and running at 4am. So I will be PT free my last days here. Well, atleast with the rest of the group. I will still work out in the evenings on my own or with a couple of buddies.

I posted a few pics of our class climbing power poles. We had to build an over head distribution system for one of our classes. I discovered I prefer to keep my feet on the ground.

Wichita Falls Tx.

Wow!  It's been a while since I've been on Myspace. I almost forgot my password. Figured I'd give a small update on where I'm at with this Navy thing.

I survived boot camp. It wasn't that bad really. The worst part was missing Linds and Axel like crazy. I got to call home twice the whole time I was there and the first time, Lindsey didn't answer the phone. That was a sad day.     The only other bad part about boot camp was the kids...er.. other recruits. There were a few mature people. If the majority of them would have just kept their mouths shut, it would have been an easier day every day.

The main stress of boot camp came from the drill instructors giving us limited time to do every single thing, every minute of our days. And it was always impossible tasks that we were doomed to fail from the beginning.

The silly parts for me, were when they expected us to do a task perfectly the first time, after only being shown how to do that task one time. Of course they would act completely pissed, yelling and throwing stuff when we didn't perform up to their standards on our first try. Maybe it's because I'm a bit older, but them acting that way was a bit silly. Of course I just went along with it and kept trying with the team.

I plan to add more details about the experience later. For now, I am at Wichita Falls, Tx for my "A" school.  (Tech School)  Learning to be an electrician. We learn the basics for everything from indoor, underground, over head power lines, generators and motors during our time here. I graduate from here June 4 and will be heading home a day or so after that. I'm readddyyy!!!

Be back around mid to late March

Ok, so I've had the chance to tell some of you about my new part time job. I enlisted in the Navy Reserve about a month ago. Today I leave for basic. I will be going to Great Lakes Recruit Training Center up by Chicago. I will be there for about 9 weeks.

I've only had a month to get somewhat in shape and start memorizing the 11 General orders, Chain of Command, Navy Core values and the Sailors Creed. I've got most of it down and passed the physical exam. Though I still have a long ways to go...oh well, to late. I gotta leave today.

So anyway, Linds and Axel will be holding things down while I'm gone. I'll be out of basic in early March. So this will be my last communication until then, unless I write letters from boot camp. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time, and figured I'd better do it now before I get to old. I look forward to serving the country.
Talk to you all later,
Tommy

Texas Guitar Show

I finally got to attend another Texas Guitar Show this past weekend. The first one of these I attended was in 1988 and another in around 1992-93. These are always a lot of fun if you are into guitars and music at all. You find mainly vintage guitars here, but there are also more recent equipment as well.

For this year, I originally wanted to go, not only to look at guitars, but to see one of my favorite players, Andy Timmons. Well, Andy Timmons backed out, due to another gig/ tour he's involved with. So we went anyway, because a couple other great guitarist were going to be there. George Lynch and Eric Johnson.

My bud, Cory and I went down on Friday night and attended Saturdays show. Plenty of guitars, bands, dealers and people to see. Row after row of instruments. I was most impressed with a couple of smaller guitar makers, www.warriorinstruments.com and www.abyssguitars.com . These guys make amazing guitars. They come with a hefty price tag of $5000-$10000 or more for each guitar. But the detail on these things are great.

I also got to meet Paul Reed Smith at his booth. When I first met him there, he seemed nice enough. Very professional in his dress jacket and smile.

He and his band played that evening for the all star jam, so we got to check him out. Well, he seemed to be a bit of a different cat during set up. Kind of a weird dude. His amp was making a buzzing noise, due to his pickups. Yea, this is not a good thing, but it seemed he over reacted a bit to me. Seemed kinda childish. It was just weird. He acted kinda like this through the night as he hosted most of the all star jam. I can tell he is one of those folks that like for people to see him and to be noticed. I don't know, weird dude.

Well, we also saw Eric Johnson, which to my suprise, I wasn't impressed with. It was just him and a drummer on stage. Eh...that too was weird. Most of the set they seemed lost and had a hard time staying together. It was strange seeing Eric Johnson not in peak condition and performance. I don't think it was such a good idea for him. We left after about the 3rd or 4th song out of boredom.

So, that just left George Lynch's performance to look forward to. He was listed as part of the All Star Jam at the end of the evening, which started at 8pm. So Cory and I hung out for that and just browsed around. Finally the show started and this is when Paul Reed Smiths band started the late show. Every song brought out another "famous" guitar player for the blues jam. "X" guitar player would come out, play a blues song with the band, jam jam jam. The song would end, then another player would come out and play the next song. This went on until about 11pm. I was getting frustrated and tired and just wanted to see George Lynch play DANGIT!!!

However, my suspicions with all the blues songs made we wonder what was going on. I thought it would be kind of strange for George Lynch to come out and do a blues jam with these guys. So finally around 11:15ish, I got up and went back to the sound guy and asked him if George Lynch was still going to be playing. The sound guy told me, "Oh, he didn't show up."  BAHH!!!! I went and got Cory and we split. I would have left hours ago if I had known that. Well, I admit, I did enjoy some of the blues jam, but after about an hour of it, I was ready to move on.

So...other than not really getting to see any of the players that I REALLY wanted to see, we had a great time and got lots of free stuff.  Here's some more pics of the show.
