I'm sitting here waiting for things to kick off at my job at nine forty five in the pm and just thought I'd give a shout to all the people who might have wondered about where I have vanished to.
Well, I got a job. And it drains every second of my life away. Well, every second that my fiance doesn't get. oh yeah. I got one of those too.
i am somewhat excited for the upcoming gong show, but boy has it been cold. if yall are natchitoches folk you may recognize a cameo appearance by the late great jeremy rhodes. actually not late, he's alive and kicking and very punctual. It's kind of neat the the louisiana people that will go to this party, especially since we are doing a mardi gras thing this go round.
i've seen the wire up to episode seven of season five so i've kind of lost interest in catching the shows while i wait for everybody else to catch up. but episode 8 is going to be awesome. i can't wait.
I've also missed the last couple of episodes of american idol which kind of sucks, becuase the world will stop turning if i don't see it.
oh yeah, and i've started looking at the pictures of a Little Nemo In Slumberland book. The lettering is for shit but that is some rabbit riding a frog shit.
this dude scares the shit out of me. I don't like the level of fanatical devotion he inspires from his supporters. It's like i'm getting campaign emails from members of the manson family. and what is he for? 1. abolish the IRS 2. Build a wall between USA and Mexico 3. Get out of Iraq now
Just some crazy, rash, quick-fixes that are just as likely to completely destroy the country as do anything of value. i don't know, he smells like a demagogue and i don't dig the stink.
so yeah, i'm leaving this apartment at 4 in the morning tonight to go catch the blue line to ohare. Then it's to memphis and finally Lafayette International Airport. Then I'm home. or where home was before i picked up shop and skipped. I'll do a little comedy and probably talk a little shop, but mostly i'll be there to shoot shit and be around people. I miss people. Chicago has people but it's a little different.
Chicago has Louisiana People too. I've been talking to the Louisianians in chicago and the rule is we have to do a special gesture if we see each other down south. "chi caaaaaa go"
I'm very excited to see all a yall.
but i'll be around Lafayette, Less so as xmas approaches when it becomes family time but then for a brief whisp afterword till i am whisked away on the wings of a luck dragon back to the frigid reality of chicago in january. But i do like it here. Because i Love to complain.
Travel usually makes me write, especially with the long stretches in airports or cars waiting for things to happen.
oh yeah, this thursday, at 307 i'll be doing stand up comedy sometime around 9 nine thirty. so come see that.
i guess two years is the limit for me feeling totally displaced and now as i sit in the LAX airport ready to go back to chicago, to my kind of crappy apartment in an awesome location, i realize that home has shifted for me. It's true that louisiana is the greatest place in the universe and the other LA is a gigantic suburb but for now, north and wells will do just fine.
a couple of nights ago me and benny drank beers and watched season two of ricky gervais' extras and i could feel mysoul clinching as i saw the totally depressing tale of a guy having his artistic vision whittled away to LCd nonsense. i would hate for that to happen to me.
luckily the gong idol is already pretty lowest common denomonater. so that should be fine.
the last time i refered to chicago as home it was in a room full of louisianians who did not think that was ok. i think it's ok.
oh yeah, i got booked to do the lincoln lodge. granted it's not as a stand up comedian, the want me to do some kind of character or something and was thinking about doing something cajun even though the kids back home give me shit for my accent not being super great, what the hell, these illynoiseians won't be able to tell the difference. I'll just watch a bunch of poo poo broussard youtube clips to warm up. hopefully they'll give me a chance to be myself once i've performed this service for them, but you know, a halloween show should be good fun.
gift horses, mouths, etc. the show is november 1 and ought to be a dealy-o, for me at least.
alright. I gotta go catch a plane. see yall soon enough
