"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any."-- Alice Walker
Archived documents discovered at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website reveal the agency knew in 2003 that HPV infections did not cause cervical cancer. Despite that knowledge, the F.D.A. has continued to support the use of the Gardasil vaccine in compulsory vaccinations programs like the one announced in Texas earlier this year.
The F.D.A.’s own press release from 2003 admits that, "Most women who become infected with HPV are able to eradicate the virus [without intervention] and suffer no apparent long-term consequences to their health... most infections are short-lived and not associated with cervical cancer." (Source: "F.D.A. Approves Expanded Use of HPV Test," March 31, 2003) http://www.newstarget.com/Report_HPV_Vaccine_0.html
Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, an independent consumer health advocate who opposes compulsory vaccinations, has unleashed a volley of multimedia files designed to expose the scientific fraud behind Gardasil vaccines while educating the public about the real health risks that may be associated with HPV vaccinations. His special report, "The Great HPV Vaccination Hoax Exposed" is available now at: http://www.newstarget.com/Report_HPV_Vaccine_0.html
Adams has also posted a 45-minute audio report on the HPV vaccination fraud. It’s called the Health Ranger Report and features a detailed discussion of the evidence showing the scientific fraud and fear mongering that’s powering Big Pharma’s mandatory vaccination push in America today. The program is available for immediate download as an MP3 file at: http://www.NewsTarget.com/podcasts/HRR015_HPV_48.MP3
In addition, Adams participated earlier today in a fast-rising podcast show called Real Health with Dr. Steve which features multiple guests in a fast-paced, information-rich format. The show is now listed on iTunes and can be accessed directly at: http://web.mac.com/drsteve720/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html
(The Adams interview on HPV Vaccinations is found in show 11, which was not yet posted at the time of this story, but should appear within 2~3 days.)
Finally, Adams joined nutritionist Jonny Bowden and "Sugar Shock" author, Connie Bennett, in an unrelated (but very entertaining and educational) audio show today. The Sugar Shock BlockTalkRadio show is available for live listening now at: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/stopsugarshock
These are all part of Mike Adams’ efforts to educate the public on the truth about mandatory vaccination programs, which he says are deceptively marketed and based on "scientific fraud."

What might you expect to happen when "Toxic Victims" are called "mentally ill" and they meet up with a policeman that is "raging" from steroid abuse (aka roiding) ?
The steroid abuse as a factor in police shootings and abuse was pointed out to me in correspondences with The IDRISSSTELLEY FOUNDATION http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeo9ewi/idrissstelleyfoundation/ that was started with the money won in a lawsuit for the death ofIDRISSSTELLEYafter he was sshot48 times by 9 San Francisco policemen.
We as tax payers put out a lot of cash to train a policeman. They join the force, wanting to do good, help people and try to make a difference in a very screwed up world.
Some times, I have to wonder what changes ? How do some of them become "bad apples" and give their entire profession a bad name ?
For a few years, I have been doing research on the effects of the "low dose cumulative effects of toxic chemicals" with violence and abusive behavior.
Law enforcement is not excempt from such toxic chemical exposures. But they do maintain a harder "front" than most classes of society, with the "I am fine" presentation. Their ego's are just that way, or they probably would not be in that profession. Think about it. They risk their lives on a daily basis to "uphold the law". They are heroes. And as such, they are not to prone to saying, they have a problem, of any kind.
While I was researching this issue, I became acquainted with Mesha. . Her son had been shot 48 times by 9 San Francisco policeman. She started The IDRISSSTELLEY FOUNDATION with the money from the wrongful death suit of her sons murder. http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeo9ewi/idrissstelleyfoundation/
Mesha was very kind and patient the times that I have called. But the other day, she got me. She admitted that yes, the toxic chemicals could also impact a policeman's decision to use deadly force. But then she asked what I thought might happen when a "Toxic Victim" (as I call "mentally ill") that is acting out, meets up with a policeman on steroids ?
Mesha agreed that everything that I was on about can apply to such a situation as an unjustified police shooting. But she also thought that steroid abuse by law enforcement is inducing some "bad judgment calls", more than anything else. And that these factors are being protected by the " Blue Wall of Silence".
So being an open minded hippy, after talking to Mesha, I did a couple of Google searches on the subject.
The results astounded me. The Google search terms were "police steroid abuse" and "police steroid abuse testing".
I thought I would find masses of articles about the police busting people for it. But nooooo, I find massive articles about police forces around the country being busted.
Si I tried posting "Roid-a-cops and police brutality" at myspace. It would not post. So I sent it to a number of friends at myspace. They could not get it to post. Though Ken said a couple of days later that he was able to post it. Seems there is a tracking program at myspace for censorship. This report has finally posted at Myspace bulletin's and my blog. After some serious complaining is rather public ways, across the Internet.
Anyway, I became rather frustrated and called Mesha. What I had decided to do was spread a "true rumor" that did seem to get "their attention". And not just Mysapce's.
I called the Sonoma County sheriff and a captain answered the phone. He said that the sheriff was unavailable. So I told the captain that I had done a Google search that shows police departments around the country were being busted by the feds for steroid abuse.
I told him the search terms and I could sense the panic in his voice. I told him that the searches reveal Boston police being busted by a federal grand jury investigation. Dallas also came up with the search and too many others to list.
Now I only went over the first ten results of the first search term and twenty of the second. When I got to the one about president Bush talking about steroid abuse in a State of the Union address, I stopped. After all, Bush was talking about steroid abuse in sports. Maybe he should have been a bit more specific and included law enforcement. You know .... the people that enforce the laws against such things as drug abuse.
Not that I want to snitch out the feds and risk screwing up any investigation that they might have. I am not aware of Sonoma County being investigated for steroid abuse. Maybe it isn't. Maybe it is ? All I know is that I do not want to be charged with "obstruction of justice", for bringing this to their attention. After all, more often than not, "no good deed goes unpunished".
What I can point out is what other police departments that have ignored the abuse of steroids like an ostrich, have found.
While they are so bent over with their heads in the sand, the feds sneak up and give them an exam that nobody likes. Regardless of sexual orientation.
As the prior mentioned search reveals, it was a Federal Grand Jury investigation that busted the Boston police department for steroid abuse.
Maybe if all of the San Francisco MUNI bus drivers that have to pee in a bottle for random drug screening became aware of this. They might be able to break the censorship and warn others of the impeding steroid exams .... or a, the investigations that have busted so many police departments around the country ?
One of my psychologists had told me that "the good and the bad news it that I am not paranoid or delusional".
Now please excuse me .... I need to get back to editing "Toxic Revelations" and my Myspace profile / blog. It is my intention to post this at my blog. If I can ......
Blessings,

Well...
I am not sure how to relay it back to my son Idriss' murder by PD, you'll be the judge of what is relevant or appropriate to forward.
I know that my son got much sicker with his already severe asthma since I purchased a house for him in SF Bayview Hunters Point in 1997, a mile from the shipyard, and a block from Candlestick park.
Besides filtering his apartment air, drinking and cooking water, he would routinely pass out in the shower....until he intalled a filter on his shower head.
Idriss was in therapy since the age of 7 for chronic depression, and had never developped other signs of mental illness, but in the last 4 years of his life in Bayview, I helplessly saw him rapidly develop signs of hypomania, alternating periods of intense activity, sleep deprivation and very low tolerance to frustration, with periods of deep depression, withdrawal and isolation. Idriss never took drugs.
He tried to transcend his symptoms through
organic nutrition,
amino acids,
listening to music (eclectic taste, not only Tupac but Eric Sati, Narcisso Yepes, Bartok and the great classics!), reading the Coran and MalcomX, praying,
tutoring in Spanish, French and advanced Maths (City College, Wallenberg High School and Day Labor Program),
Art work (graphs, welding, airbrush)
Poetry writing
and lastly long debriefing sessions with Mom when time allowed for both of us,
Although my son did not develop violent tendencies, it is undebatable that our kids in Bayview's concentration span, tolerance to frustration, and overall emotional health, beside lethal asthma, lymphoma, arsenic poisoning, is deeply affected by the mortal chimicals that they are exposed to on a daily basis. I would recommend that you get in touch with Dr. Ahimsa Sumchai Porter, current Mayor Candidate in SF, if you want stats, and facts, she is the authority and has documented environmental toxicity in Bayview for decades.
She is horribly busy right now... have patience !
I can send you her email address.
You might want to rent at a library or purchase the movie "Straight outta Hunters Point" by Kevin Epps.
Now Cops and toxic exposure ? If they work routinely in highly toxic neighborhoods, I am certain that they are not exempt from the lethal affects of the chimicals they breathe, eat and drink on a daily basis right ? Flights of rage ?
Impaired judgement in crisis situations ?
Lowered inhibitions level?
Low concentration span that leads to lethal decisions/ shoot to kill?
That makes total sense....
I am more concerned by the chimicals that they deliberately chose to shoot up to increase muscle mass and reduce their level of fear as "Beat Cops", leading to so many casualties, for the cops themselves (heart attacks, suicides, domestic violence )andfor their victims...

To all: Again, an article to put our local situation into perspective. Abuse by police (and prison guards) is a nationwide (worldwide) problem that isn't widely recognized as one in most communities. Add steroids to the mix along with personality studies of those attracted to these jobs and it is no surprise. ³Eight Guards Charged: Torture, Sexual and Physical Abuse Alleged²
Arrest warrants were issued May 8, 2007 for eight former Florida Department of Corrections Hendry Correctional Institution prison guards. The guards had previously been fired over incidents surrounding a prisoner having been beaten and choked unconscious by a gang of guards at the South Florida prison. (See article in March/April 2007 Florida Prison Legal Perspectives.) FDOC investigation reports now allege that more than one prisoner was abused and imply that actual torture, sexual and physical abuse of prisoners was common at the prison.
The eight guards charged in the warrants issued by the Fort Myers¹ State Attorney face a combined 23 criminal charges, including battery on inmates, failure to report battery on inmates, and grand theft.
Those named in the warrants were identified as former sergeants Philip Barger, 30, James Brown, 34, Randy Hazen, 29, William Thiessen, 35, and Stephen Whitney, 33, and former correctional officers Kevin Filipowicz, 24, Ruben Ibarra, 23, and Gabriel Cotilla, 23.
The eight charged had been formerly employed at Hendry CI, a minimum to medium security 605 bed men¹s prison located near Ft. Myers. All of them had been fired in mid-March following an investigation started when another guard, not implicated in any wrongdoing, found and reported fresh bruises on a confinement prisoner¹s neck.
During a news conference following the issuance of the warrants, FDOC Secretary Jim McDonough described the former prison guards¹ actions as ³improper, illegal, inhuman.²
SHADES OF ABU GHRAIB
Invoking visions of the now infamous abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. military personnel at Abu Ghraib prison that shocked the world when photographs surfaced exhibiting torture, physical and sexual abuse, the FDOC investigation report on the former Hendry CI guards alleges that similar abuse has been occurring right here at home, in at least one Florida prison.
McDonough said that during the course of investigating the neck bruises on one prisoner, other incidents were substantiated by prison investigators and turned over to Ft. Myers state attorney Steve Russell, whose office issued the warrants. The other incidents were so bad Secretary McDonough also discussed the department¹s findings with federal officials because possible federal civil rights violations occurred at the prison.
³These were heinous acts,² said McDonough, a former U.S. Army colonel who was picked last year to run the FDOC by former Gov. Jeb Bush after a string of scandals lead to the former secretary, James Crosby, being forced to resign and later being charged and sentenced to federal prison for corruption. As for the incidents at Hendry CI that are now coming to light, McDonough said, ³There was a sadistic level to them.²
During the FDOC investigation, several years of reports on use-of-force against prisoners were reviewed. Some guards¹ names repeatedly showed up in the reports, some more than 50 times.
McDonough said the reports gave investigators a pattern that lead them to interview prisoners who had claimed to have been abused and brutalized by guards in the confinement unit at Hendry CI (those claims had been dismissed by HCI officials and FDOC personnel when brought to their attention). The reports and interviews resulted in a picture emerging of a group of brutal sadistic guards, said McDonough.
³These were not spontaneous involvements. There was deliberate planning,² McDonough now says. McDonough had initially claimed that the beating and choking of the prisoner in March that started the investigation was an ³isolated incident,² a term that his predecessor James Crosby was fond of using to minimize scandals during his tenure as secretary.
FDOC investigation documents and the criminal warrants shed some light on just what has been occurring at Hendry CI. Claims were substantiated that numerous prisoners had been beaten and choked unconscious. Some prisoners had been forced by prison guards to clean toilets with their tongues. In other instances, prisoners were forced to choose between performing sex acts on guards or performing other acts like eating food off the floor like an animal. Often, no matter what choice was made, the prisoners were beaten and brutalized by guards.
Although there are video cameras now in most confinement units at Florida prisons, the cameras are usually positioned so that nothing can be seen of what actually goes on inside confinement cells and there are blind spots that the cameras don¹t cover. Otherwise, there may have been Abu Ghraib-like photos from Hendry CI. To his credit, McDonough has now directed that new policies be implemented requiring all uses-of-force to be videotaped in the prisons.
The eight former guards turned themselves in on the same day the warrants were issued. They were all released on $1000 bail. All of the former guards except James brown were charged with first degree misdemeanors for abusing prisoners while Brown was charged with grand theft. State prosecutors gave no explanation for why the former guards were only charged with misdemeanors, which appears odd considering the FDOC investigation findings.

Behind BALCO: The Hidden Officer Involved Shooting by junya Sunday Apr 16th, 2006 10:28 AM
If the BALCO case is strictly about drug use in sports, then why is Barry Bonds represented by Michael Rains - a lawyer whose entire legal career has been spent protecting police from prosecution? While we're being distracted by the Bonds saga, are we missing a connection between steroids and police?
banner.jpg5klg4w.jpg
I tried to ignore the BALCO story. But you have to admire the aerobic stamina of the pundits. To spew pompous indignation over the possibility that a ball player might have lied and ditched his Wheaties for the real 'Breakfast of Champions', while failing to take note of an administration that has elevated the sport of lying and cheating to Olympian heights, must require endless hours with one's head up one's ass. Sensationalize the trivial, while ignoring the crucial: straight out of Psyops 101. But it's clear that this is about more than testosterone. One month after Bush mentioned steroid abuse in his 2004 State of the Union address, his top cop, John Ashcroft, paused from his busy schedule of abduction and torture to announce the BALCO indictments at a nationally televised news conference in Washington DC. But if the BALCO case is strictly about drug use in sports, then why is Barry Bonds represented by a lawyer whose entire legal career has been spent protecting police from prosecution? Why didn't KGO ask that question when, in Dec. 2004, it reported that Barry Bonds' lawyer, Michael Rains, spoke "at a crowded news conference in Oakland, where he's participating as a defense lawyer in 'The Riders' trial"?
[2] Isn't it surprising that someone who can afford top-of-the-line legal defense is represented by the Mr. Fix-it for law enforcement low-lifes? Lawyers defending police are not accustomed to vigorously building a case, because courts seldom convict law enforcement. Doesn't Bonds realize the court is not going to cut the same slack for an 'uppity' black superstar in a drug case? And what led Rains to move from brutality to baseball? While we're being distracted by the Bonds saga, are we missing a connection between steroids and police? Who is Michael Rains? Dubbing itself 'The Ultimate Backup', the firm of Rains, Lucia, and Wilkerson represents 80 California law enforcement agencies, including all those in the East Bay, according to a Dec. 2001 profile in East Bay Business Times [3]. They handle contract negotiations, internal investigations, and criminal charges against police. In the same article, Rains names his most respected competitors: "Bill Rapaport. He's in San Mateo. And the other guy is Craig Brown and he's in San Jose" . Naming them as 'competitors' is grossly misleading. As Rains implies, each has his own turf: while Rains and company take the big business in the East Bay, Rapaport rules San Mateo County, and Brown lords over Santa Clara County. Yet they also collaborate: Rapaport and Brown are currently defending East Palo Alto police charged with assault for beating Calvin Brooks so severely he needed a five-day hospital stay. Brown, who freed the State agent that killed Rudy Cardenas in San Jose (while the father of 5 pleaded for his life with his hands in the air), also defended one of the Palo Alto pair that brutalized 60-year-old African Albert Hopkins for the crime of sitting in his parked car. The other PAPD "thug" (as the Assistant DA called him) was represented by Harry Stern - a junior attorney from Rains' firm. And the Riders trial brought all three together to represent Oakland's Swinest. Bill Rapaport: Man in the Middle Rains claims he knew Bonds through a mutual acquaintance and was retained specifically for this case. Perhaps the mutual acquaintance is Bill Rapaport: he initially represented Bonds' personal trainer and long-time friend, Greg Anderson (Anderson later switched to the legendary attorney and legal activist Tony Serra, who took the case for free). Two days after IRS, FDA and the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force agents handcuffed and questioned Anderson on Burlingame streets in Sep. 2003, Federal agents kicked down the door of his Burlingame home and claimed they found steroids and syringes. They also claim Anderson admitted that he had given steroids to several professional baseball players. So how did Rapaport migrate from defending brutal beasts with badges to representing someone charged with providing elite athletes (i.e., fully aware adults) with precisely what they ask for? In fact, Rapaport has long been a counselor for the steroid biz. In May 2004 the San Mateo Daily Journal reported that Rapaport has represented both Victor Conte Jr., the founder of the Bay Area Lab Co-Operative (BALCO) that supplied Anderson with performance enhancing drugs, and James Valente, BALCO's vice president - and ended up suing them in 2001. Burlingame Officer Involved Shooting Had Anderson fit better into Rapaport's typical client profile, he probably would have escaped jail. In fact, about a month after Anderson was getting slammed on the streets of Burlingame, the same Narcotics Task Force discovered more than 700 tablets of steroids and syringes in the truck and house of Burlingame Police Officer Robert J. Cissna. They were acting on a tip from customs officials in New York, who seized more than 2,000 tablets of steroids on its way from Romania to a Burlingame post office box addressed to Cissna. In Sep. 2004 Cissna pleaded no contest to misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and received a deal of 18 months probation, with the charges dismissed and his records cleared. A Deputy DA confessed to the San Mateo Daily Journal [4]: "We initially charged Cissna with intent to sell based on the quantity. Then we received information from the defense about his usage pattern...and we found [the quantity] was consistent with personal use." And who provided 'the defense' that enlightened prosecutors? The 'Ultimate Backup' to the rescue: Michael Rains [5]. So while a mob of federal agents swooped down to bust an athlete's trainer in a case that received national attention (and got him jailed for 3 months), just across town a local cop got off with no jail or record after federal agents considered 2000 steroid tabs wasn't worth more than a phone call to local police, and the DA is relieved that the cop's not selling those thousands of tabs of steroids - just shooting them up! And Michael Rains is the legal face of both the athlete and the cop. Quite a coincidence for Burlingame, a small town with relatively low crime rate. Outcome for the cop: he was fired from his job when he was charged, but he has since been reinstated. [6] Tip of the Iceberg As one police psychologist accurately reported on CNN in April 2005 [7], steroid use among star baseball players may be getting the most attention, but a bigger problem is likely the police officer down the street who is using them: "At some point in using the drug, psychotic-type symptoms come in. And they're not predictable. That makes it an even more dangerous issue" . The DEA warns that possible psychological disturbances resulting from steroid abuse include "mood swings (including manic-like symptoms leading to violence), impaired judgment (stemming from feelings of invincibility)...and hostility and aggression". Clearly, these traits in police are what keep Rains and crew busy and prosperous, so we can infer that it is in their interest to protect steroid-abusing police (and hide those police behind the media feeding frenzy that comes when they toss Bonds out to publicity-hungry feds), but do the rest of us want police that are even more violent, irrational, and hostile when fueled by 'roid rage'? While Bush publicly frets over steroids in sports, the White House website links to a DEA report [8] that warns: "Despite the illegality of steroids without a prescription and the known dangers of steroid abuse the problem continues to grow in the law enforcement community" . From Honolulu Officer Belluomini who pleaded guilty to five illegal sales of human growth hormone in 2002 and 2003, to Tampa Officer Campbell who traded Ecstasy tablets - stolen from an impounded car - for steroids while in uniform and on duty, to New York Officers Foley and Grettler who pleaded guilty to dealing cocaine and steroids, it is clear that the Officers aren't just banging roids, but slinging it too - under the most protective cover possible. The real story behind BALCO may look more like the case of PowerMedica, a Florida company found selling steroids, as well as syringes and needles, without prescriptions

..The scientific information contained in the EPA libraries is essential to the agency's ability to make fully informed decisions that carry out its mission of protecting human health and the environment.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has begun closing its nationwide network of scientific libraries, effectively preventing EPA scientists and the public from accessing vast amounts of data and information on issues from toxicology to pollution. Several libraries have already been dismantled, with their contents either destroyed or shipped to repositories where they are uncataloged and inaccessible.
The scientific information contained in the EPA libraries is essential to the agency's ability to make fully informed decisions that carry out its mission of protecting human health and the environment. Members of Congress have asked the EPA to cease and desist. Please call EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson at (202) 564-4700 and tell him how much scientists rely on data and literature. Urge him to immediately halt the dismantling of the library system until Congress approves the EPA budget and all materials are readily available online.
Update, 3:00 p.m. EST 12/4:Calls are already flooding in and we've received reports that the EPA office is making the following arguments:
1. The EPA is not closing any libraries. 2. The EPA is not destroying any documents, only archiving them. 3. It is more effective to call your member of Congress.
The Truth: Five libraries have already closed, with several more having reduced their hours. Evidence shows that scientific journals have indeed been recycled or thrown away. And Congress is already aware of this problem; the decision to stop the closing of libraries and the destruction of documents lies now with Administrator Johnson. Food Safety in Question: New Concerns to Consider... - By Jeffrey M. Smith How safe-REALLY-are the foods in your supermarket or your favorite restaurant? Quite possibly not as safe as you want to believe... or have been led to think!
*Fake "Study" of Aspartame Released* Edited by Alex Constantine (Updated) Thursday, October 11, 2007, *Aspartame Deemed Safe By [[']]Expert[[']] Panel*
The giant food corporations have one mission: selling more food and beverage products to consumers. Succeeding with that mission depends on keeping consumers in the dark on certain issues such as the presence cancer-causing chemicals found in popular food products.
Here are ten things the food corporations, whose products dominate grocery store shelves across the United States and other countries, absolutely do not want you to know.
1. The ingredients listed on the label aren't the only things in the food. Cancer-causing chemicals such as acrylamides may be formed in the food during high-heat processing, yet there's no requirement to list them on the label. Residues of solvents, pesticides and other chemicals may also be present, but also do not have to be listed. The National Uniformity for Food Act, currently being debated in the U.S. Congress, would make it illegal (yes, illegal) for states to require cancer warnings on foods that contain cancer-causing chemicals (such as California's Proposition 65.) See articles on the Food Uniformity Act.
2. Monosodium glutamate (MSG), which is added to thousands of food and grocery products through a dozen different innocent-sounding ingredients, imbalances endocrine system function, disabling normal appetite regulation and causing consumers to keep eating more food. This chemical not only contributes to nationwide obesity, it also helps food companies boost repeat business. See articles on MSG.
3. MSG is routinely hidden in foods in these ingredients: yeast extract, torula yeast, hydrolyzed vegetable protein and autolyzed yeast. Thousands of common grocery products contain one or more of these chemical taste enhancers, including nearly all "vegetarian" foods such as veggie burgers (read labels to check). See Food manufacturers hide dangerous ingredients in everyday foods by using confusing terms on the label.
4. ADHD in children is caused almost entirely by the consumption of processed food ingredients such as artificial colors and refined carbohydrates. Eighty percent of so-called ADHD children who are taken off processed foods are cured of ADHD in two weeks. See articles on ADHD.
5. The chemical sweetener aspartame, when exposed to warm temperatures for only a few hours, begins to break down into chemicals like formaldehyde and formic acid. Formaldehyde is a potent nerve toxin and causes damage to the eyes, brain and entire nervous system. Aspartame has been strongly linked to migraines, seizures, blurred vision and many other nervous system problems. See articles on aspartame.
6. Most food dips (like guacamole dip) are made with hydrogenated oils, artificial colors and monosodium glutamate. Many guacamole dips don't even contain avocados.
7. Plastic food packaging is a potent health hazard. Scientists now know that plastics routinely seep the chemical bisphenol A into the food, where it is eaten by consumers. Cooking in plastic containers multiplies the level of exposure. Bisphenol is a hormone disruptor and can cause breast formation in men and severe hormonal imbalances in women. It may also encourage hormone-related cancers such as prostate cancer and breast cancer. See Plastics chemical bisphenol A found to promote prostate cancer in animal studies.
8. Milk produced in the United States comes from cows injected with synthetic hormones that have been banned in every other advanced nation in the world. These hormones help explain why unusually young teenage girls develop breasts at such a young age, or why hormone-related cancers like prostate cancer are being discovered in unprecedented numbers. In order to protect Monsanto, the manufacturer of hormones used in the industry, the USDA currently bans organic milk producers from claiming their milk comes from cows that were not treated with synthetic hormones. Even organic milk is now under fire as the Organic Consumers Association says Horizon milk products are falsely labeled as organic. See Horizon milk, Wild Oats named in consumer boycott of "false" organic products. (The solution to all this? Drink raw almond milk instead. Make it yourself with a Vitamix, water and a nut milk bag.)
9. Most grocery products that make loud health claims on their packaging are, in reality, nutritionally worthless (like meal replacement shakes, instant chocolate milk, etc.). The most nutritious foods are actually those the FDA does not allow to make any health claims whatsoever: fresh produce. See articles on food labeling.
10. Food manufacturers actually "buy" shelf space and position at grocery stores. That's why the most profitable foods (and hence, the ones with the lowest quality ingredients) are the most visible on aisle end caps, checkout lanes and eye-level shelves throughout the store. The effect of all this is to provide in-store marketing and visibility to the very foods and beverages that promote obesity, diabetes, cancer, heart disease and other degenerative conditions now ravaging consumers around the world. See articles on food marketing.

Common chemicals are linked to breast cancer By, Marla Cone, , L.A. Times Staff Writer May 14, 2007 .
More than 200 chemicals — many found in urban air and everyday consumer products — cause breast cancer in animal tests, according to a compilation of scientific reports published today.
Writing in a publication of the American Cancer Society, researchers concluded that reducing exposure to the compounds could prevent many women from developing the disease.
The research team from five institutions analyzed a growing body of evidence linking environmental contaminants to breast cancer, the leading killer of U.S. women in their late 30s to early 50s.
Experts say that family history and genes are responsible for a small percentage of breast cancer cases but that environmental or lifestyle factors such as diet are probably involved in the vast majority.
"Overall, exposure to mammary gland carcinogens is widespread," the researchers wrote in a special supplement to the journal Cancer. "These compounds are widely detected in human tissues and in environments, such as homes, where women spend time."
The scientists said data were too incomplete to estimate how many breast cancer cases might be linked to chemical exposures.
But because the disease is so common and the chemicals so widespread, "the public health impacts of reducing exposures would be profound even if the true relative risks are modest," they wrote. "If even a small percentage is due to preventable environmental factors, modifying these factors would spare thousands of women."
The three reports and a commentary were compiled by researchers from the Silent Spring Institute, http://www.silentspring.org/ a women's environmental health organization in Newton, Mass.; Harvard's Medical School and School of Public Health in Boston; the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y.; and USC's Keck School of Medicine. Silent Spring Institute Executive Director Julia Brody led the team.
In response to the findings, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer prevention group that funded the work, pledged an additional $5 million for developing research tools to root out environmental causes.
Reviewing hundreds of existing studies and databases, the team produced what it called "the most comprehensive compilation to date of chemicals identified as mammary carcinogens." No new chemical testing was conducted for the reports.
The researchers named 216 chemicals that induce breast tumors in animals. Of those, people are highly exposed to 97, including industrial solvents, pesticides, dyes, gasoline and diesel exhaust compounds, cosmetics ingredients, hormones, pharmaceuticals, radiation, and a chemical in chlorinated drinking water.
"Almost all of the chemicals were mutagenic, and most caused tumors in multiple organs and species; these characteristics are generally thought to indicate likely carcinogenicity in humans, even at lower exposure levels," they reported.
For many of the compounds, the federal government has not used animal breast cancer data when conducting human risk assessments, which are the first step toward regulating chemicals or in setting occupational standards to protect workers. Companies are not required to screen women who work with the chemicals for breast cancer.
"Regulators have not paid much attention to potential mammary carcinogens," the researchers wrote.
Toxicologists say that other mammals, such as rats and mice, often develop the same tumors as humans do, and that animal tests are efficient means of testing the effects of chemicals. Environmental regulators, however, often want conclusive human data before taking action.
Animal studies generally use high doses of a substance to simulate a lifetime of exposure, and then the results are extrapolated to the lower levels that people are exposed to.
Ana Soto, a Tufts University professor of cell biology who specializes in cellular origins of cancer and effects of hormone-disrupting contaminants, said there probably was a link between breast cancer and exposures to chemicals in the environment, particularly early in life.
"I cannot say I'm convinced, but what I can say is that it's a very likely, very plausible hypothesis," said Soto, who did not participate in the new research. "More and more, cancer looks like an environmental disease."
Twenty-nine of the chemicals are produced in volumes exceeding 1 million pounds annually in the United States.
Seventy-three are present in consumer products or are food contaminants — 1,4-dioxane in shampoos, for example, or acrylamide in French fries. Thirty-five are common air pollutants, 25 are in workplaces where at least 5,000 women are employed, and 10 are food additives, according to the reports.
There are probably many more than 216, the research team said, because only about 1,000 of the 80,000 chemicals registered for use in the United States have been tested on animals to see whether they induce cancerous tumors or mutate DNA. Such tests cost $2 million each.
Because epidemiological studies are difficult to conduct and full of uncertainties, human data are "still relatively sparse," the researchers wrote. Only 152 studies worldwide have examined whether women exposed to contaminants are more likely to have breast cancer — compared with nearly 1,500 that have explored the links between diet and the disease — and most of the 216 carcinogens were not included.
"Despite this large remaining gap, research in the last five years has strengthened the human evidence that environmental pollutants play a role in breast cancer risk," the researchers wrote. They said the existing studies suggested "substantial public health impact."
Human evidence is particularly strong for PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls — compounds widely used in the 1940s to late 1970s that still contaminate fish and other foods — and for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, or PAHs, found in diesel and gasoline exhaust.
Solvents in dry cleaning, aircraft maintenance and other jobs also may increase breast cancer risk.
Some of the chemicals named as breast carcinogens already are regulated to protect public health, but some, particularly those in consumer products, are not.
The scientists conducted the review hoping to lay the groundwork for new human studies, as well as to persuade regulators to use existing animal data to strengthen regulations and require more testing of chemicals.
"Animal models are the primary means of understanding and anticipating effects of chemicals in humans," they wrote. "All known human carcinogens … are also carcinogenic in animals."
Emerging evidence suggests that the roots of breast cancer are in infancy or the womb. More animal and human research should focus on such early exposure, said Patricia Hunt, a Washington State University School of Molecular Biosciences professor.
But Hunt and Soto urged society not to wait for scientific proof to reduce exposure to the chemicals.
"When you look at their list of chemicals, we are exposed to all of it," Soto said. "We know humans are exposed to mixtures, and studying mixtures is very difficult. We will never have the whole picture, and it will take many, many years to collect epidemiological evidence, so we should take some preventive measures now."
Although virtually all women are exposed to the chemicals, some may be more susceptible because of differing metabolism or ability to repair DNA.
Breast cancer is probably triggered by an interaction of multiple environmental and genetic factors.
Experts have long suspected diet plays a role. But the new research found "no association that is consistent, strong and statistically significant" for any particular foods raising or reducing breast cancer risk. There is substantial evidence, however, that regularly consuming alcohol, being obese and being sedentary increase risk.
About 178,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year in the United States.

Note from the Toxic Reverend:
The 5 genetic pairings of genes for mercury detoxification that determine how well an individual can detox from mercury exposures is called "APOe".
It is my opinion as an Environmental Technologist that this APOe ( aka Apolipoprotein E) is just as applicable to Breast Cancer as it is to cardiovascular problems, macular degeneration, and mental illnesses (to name a few). Now I am just an ET and not a medical doctor, but it seems to me that the ability to detox might influence the DNA repair, too.
In some of the other blogs, I give reports that show medical x-rays can multiply the toxic impact of toxic chemicals and give reference material for 70& of the breast cancer cases being associated with medical x-rays, because of that.
