My girlfriend, the circus freak.
Current mood: aroused

SOme of you may know this, some may not: I have a girlfriend. It's quite an accomplishment for me and I'm pretty proud of myself. She's brilliant.
Even fewer of you may know this: she's in a new show that starts Wednesday. It's called celebrity circus. She's an acrobat/partner with a bunch of celebrities that you'll recognize when you see em. I warmed up with them all the other week and I have to say, wonderful people. Well, most of them.
Anyway, the point is if you're free Wednesday, watch CC on NBC and tell NBC how otherworldly good Aliane, the curly haired acrobat is. I'll be there cheering her on.

Swan song.
Category: Music
I kind of can't believe I'm leaving LA. I've actually been in the town 11.4 years.
At first it was just the furTHest place from home I'd ever lived. THen it was the most exciting place on eartTH. THen the most dangerous. THen it was like some kind of magic garden, where you could plant THe seed of ANYthING at all and it would grow. I've never felt like THat anywhere else. When you walk around Hollywood you can feel people dreaming. And THose dreams seem to be what everyTHing runs on out here.
LA has blessed me with so many friends. Most are still here but some had to take off for quieter pastures. I get THat. But THat's not why I have to go. If I had my choice I'd stay and plant this magic garden full of every idea you could imagine. Bt there's another little patch of ground back down SouTH THat has my name on it. Literally. So I'm going to tend THat for a bit.
Don't worry THough. I'll be back around. I love THis place. I can't stay gone THat long.
Hey come say bye Friday if you get the chance.

Save the pasty white man, save the world.
Current mood: enthralled
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
Following in my theory that brown is the new black, black is the new white, and white is the new pasty white -- my close compadre Jeremy Ray Valdez continues his mission to obliterate terrorism while still cultivating a dashing baby goatee in...(insert big boomy sound of metal on metal - twice in rapid succession)... THE ROOKIE!

ACM Nominee - Single Of The Year
Current mood: excited
Category: Music
Famous In A Small Town is up for Single of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May y'all. Also, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is up for Album of the Year. Couldn't be happier.
To celebrate, I'm going down to OC today to write with Jeremy Popoff from Lit, where we'll probably write another enormous hit that people of a certain age everywhere will remember having their first kiss -- or getting into their first fight -- or getting busted for underage drinking to.
See you in Vegas May 18! Come on lucky 7!

The Grammys
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers
I'm not given to as much self-promo as I should be, but listen. The Grammys are tomorrow. My friend Miranda, whom I love dearly is up for best female country vocal for Famous In A Small Town.
We wrote that song together. So in some way, I'm sharing in this contest. In fact, if she wins, I fully plan to herald myself as a Grammy winning songwriter. And I'll fight you if you argue.
The point is, I want that win. So send up a prayer, light a candle, wave smoke over something, whatever you do. Come on big win....

Get on my good side!
Current mood: giddy
Category: Music
Listen up babies. If you give one tiny little damn about me at all, then grab the nearest phone, call the nearest country radio station and tell them to by God play Famous In A Small Town by Miranda Lambert right fn now!!
Even if the news is on.
It's the coolest country song out at the moment....yes, including that Craig Morgan song about a little bit of jello and a little bit of whatever else! If you're not convinced yet, consider this:
1) Miranda is a badass. If it came to blows, Underwood's going down. 2) Like me, YOU either live in or came from a small town. So give it a holler. 3) If you're gay, you should take note that Miranda has smaller pores than any country artist living or dead. 4) My mother needs to be proud of me for a while. 5) If this song goes #1, I'm sleeping with every single one of you.
Thanks for getting my back. See you at the Grammys.

Help for the poor and famous.
Current mood: optimistic
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
Hey. Jeremy Valdez, one of my very close buddies saved the world with a pocketknife on the season finale of 24 last year. Well, he got a promotion and MAY be getting his own show.......IF
IF you help. Just go look at www.cturookie.com
You don't have to really DO anything, just look at it for a second. It'll help Jeremy tremendously. He's also in my Top Friends if you want to order a latte. (Watch the trailer -- you'll get it)

I just woke up.......I just woke up.
Category: Life
I had the most adventurous dream last night. Immediately after I woke up I remembered the entire thing. There were different parts and different players. All the settings that I love to find myself in. Thick green forests and huge cliffs overlooking a huge, dangerous misty ocean. Honestly I can't remember a thing about the dream right now. Just the feeling that it was an amazing experience.
The rest of the day was one of those days. The shitty rigors of your day that, at the very beginning you think to yourself, "this is gonna take this amount of time and it's gonna be miserable" ---- all overcome. Like breaking a matchstick. As a mater of fact, I still feel that way. Bring life. It's hard, what of it? Bring the people who say no. Fuck em!
To what do I ascribe this out of the blue strength? Well, I've just come out of a kind of a hole. A lot of things and people have died this year. And you necessarily go through a tremendous period of mourning when you lose something that truly has your whole heart. It's unavoidable. And if you're smart, you don't fuckin try to avoid it. But when the sun finally hits your face......I can't describe. I used to say to a friend of mine that you have to really be dragged through the darkness before you understand how good the light is. You have to starve before you know how otherworldly it can be to eat a good meal. And you have to lose your life in sorrow and pain before you can find it again and realize how damn good you are.
We've got a certain piece of time to be here. To love each other and ourselves. And to paraphrase Ayn Rand, (if you're rolling your eyes right now, go fuck yourself) the greatest thing I have to offer you is to show you the greatest of my own achievement. So you can know that it's possible. So you can know that what's in me is the same thing that's in you.
We're better than we think we are.
