VIP - POETRY SUBMISSION UPDATE- VIP
Current mood: determined
Category: Writing and Poetry

Okay so I wanted to let every poet out there who is interested in submitting their work to TREI Literary Magazine, to please send them to POETRY SUBMISSIONS. Any and all submissions for poetry are to be directed ONLY to this email address until further notice.

Also, I would ask that those truly interested in having their work considered for publication in TREI Literary Magazine avoid submitting it to the submissions email address located on the TRIAD Publishing Group website. That email address is STRICTLY for submitting work to TRIAD for consideration. Any submissions for TREI that are sent to the submissions email located on TRIAD's corporate website will not be considered for publication in TREI.

Additionally, because of all the amazing submissions we have already received, many more than we ever expected, we ask that from this day forward anyone considering submitting their poetry PLEASE NOT SUBMIT MORE THAN 2 POEMS in a given month. The word count for each should not exceed 200-250 words. The response time is 4 weeks.

Anyone wishing to have their work considered for publication should note that the deadline for each issue is the first of the month prior. So if you would like to be considered for the premiere issue, for instance, your deadline is July 1, as the magazine is officially launching August 1.

Again, we must ask that everyone pay close attention to these changes, as we truly want to give everyone a chance to be heard, and with the amount of submissions we are getting, it will be difficult to read through everything in time.

So send us your best work. We're having the best time watching this magazine explode like this.

GINORMOUS HUGS and BIGGER THINGS TO COME:)

§     We are currently looking at short fiction in any and all genres.

§    Poetry.

§     Questions for C. L. Freire about writing or the industry, to be
        published in THE PERKED EAR.

§    Columns about writing, the industry, the life of a writer, the struggles,
the dreams realized, pushing on, etc...

Please refer to our SUBMISSION GUIDELINES before submitting any work. Any submissions we receive here will not be considered. Also, as for the subject line in emails sent to the correct email addresses, please note that if you want your submission to be considered you must include the correct subject in the subject line of the email. For the subjects you must include, again, please refer to and read our SUBMISSION GUIDELINES carefully.

Now, as you all know, TREI has absolutely exploded! And trust me, the ride is just beginning to rev up. So get your submissions in soon. We need time to read everything. And yes, everything that comes through the proper channels WILL be read and seriously considered. If your work is selected to be published you will be notified.

Also note: Publication of your work in TREI is, at the moment, not about monetary exchange. It IS about letting YOUR voice be heard in an industry that, for countless writers, turns a deaf ear. Here at TREI, YOUR VOICE WILL BE HEARD. Here, you will always have a place to come. A place you will ALWAYS BE WELCOME:)

Well, as long as you don't knock on our doors at midnight with long monologues about how you've struggled and you want to use the bathroom and maybe have some tea and share your life stories with us as we sit there with the daze and most likely zombie-like expression of someone who has one foot in the sandman's domain.

But other than at times like that, you are always welcome here:)

So get crackin', my dear and cherished friends. And trust me when we say, THIS IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE. THE WORLD IS WAITING, AND WE WANT TO BRING YOU TO THEM, one page at a time.

BRACE YOURSELVES.....IT’S COMING..........TREI Literary Magazine
Current mood: rockin
Category: Writing and Poetry

Okay so, now that we've got your attention, we can get down to the nitty gritty and REALLY tell you all what TREI Literary Magazine is ALL about. What we will being to the table, and what YOU will be able to bring as well. Yes, YOU! See, this is where I segue into what TREI is all about.

TREI is yet another brilliant idea born from imagination and the dedication to helping writers everywhere—a brilliant concept by none other than mastermind, Vern Firestone, President and CEO of TRIAD Publishing Group.

What it's all about is this. We wanted to give writers from all walks of life a place to come, share, and meet other writers. We want to give YOU all a voice. For those of you who already have a track record in publishing, it's a place where you will be offered yet more exposure. And for those new to the art, or to those trying to break in, TREI will offer you a chance to FINALLY step into the spotlight and take your place among the stars. And here's how:

The TREI Literary Magazine Myspace page will be dedicated to keeping everyone updated as to what's coming in each online issue of TREI. We will post links to specific nooks and crannies of the magazine's official website, which is currently under construction. The official website will be unveiled with the official LAUNCH of the PREMIERE ISSUE, slated for August 1, 2008.

Each and every month there will be a new issue, and each one will include the following:

News and Events for the "following" month. This will be announced on the Myspace page here so you won't miss a beat. There will be blogs here to also keep you all up-to-date on the ongoings with TREI.

Interviews. The magazine will be holding interviews with seasoned authors, to show those just stepping out onto the road how others have made it. There will also be interviews with newcomers, to bring them into the light right out of the gate. These interviews will also include author headshots, bios, and links to their websites or Myspace pages, plus a sample of their writing.

Author Feature Spotlights
. There will also be two features in every issue. One will spotlight a TRIAD author, and one will spotlight an author not published with TRIAD. These will also include author bios, links to their websites or Myspace pages, an interview and a sample of their writing.

Illustrator Feature Spotlights. Yes, these are the people behind the scenes. Those who bring our books to life and capture the eye of our readers on first glance. So why have most of them been forgotten? Well, it's about time we bring these artists out into the light. These features will include bios, samples of their work, links to their website, and interviews.

Reviews these will feature books selected for review, and will be reviewed by a number of indpendant book reviewers. (this is a separate entity from the book reviews published in TREI that are sent to us under the advertising option)

THE PERKED EAR.  This will be a Q&A section on writing, which will be personally handled by Editor-in-Chief, C. L. Freire. They will be based on questions submitted to C. L. The answered questions will then be published in the following issue of TREI.

Short Stories. Each issue will include short stories from various genres, as we want to give every one of them equal read time. The authors of those selected from submissions will be notified on when their stories will be published.

SHADOWBOX. Each issue will feature a young author, to give them a headstart in this world.

the dream Nook. TREI will also feature the overwhelmingly popular Dream Nook, a concept started on Writers Together. It gives authors a chance to share their stories of when they FIRST learned THEY were finally going to be published and also about their first encounter with their publisher.

The Tickled Muse. This will be dedicated to posting submissions we receive in answer to small writing exercises created to spark the flame. We will select from those submitted, and we will publish those and offer a link to the author's website or Myspace page. The Tickled Muse will also feature articles and tips on writing. You know, the kind of things that make you go, "Hm! I never thought about it that way."

Reader Mail. Here we want YOU to talk to us. Let your opinion be heard, whether it's about the magazine itself, something you've read here in the past, something you'd like to see, or comments. Letters submitted to us will be published as space allows, along with our responses.

Guest Columnists. We will be taking submissions or sending invitations to authors for the opportunity to contribute to TREI Literary Magazine. There will be approximately three in each issue.

The TREI Café. Ah, the smell of hot coffee wafting out of a warm cup. Don't forget to bring your favorite brew. Here you can kick off your shoes, relax, take it all in, and share with other authors. You can post work for critique, offer and / or receive feedback on your work, get advice, meet other authors and possibly walk away with some new and amazing friends who share YOUR PASSION for writing.

Infinity. Here you will receive tips on how to sell not only your book, but also yourself as an author not to be missed. Learn how to create an amazing Myspace page or website, post banners, the mystery that is the not-so-evil HTML, and how to make yourself known to EVERYONE.

The Reservoir. Here you will find links to useful websites and information on writing, the publishing industry, blogs, tools, tips, etc…

Submissions. A permanent resident of TREI will be a page dedicated to the submission guidelines for both TRIAD and TREI Literary Magazine.

Advertising. TREI Literary Magazine will also offer advertising space to anyone wishing to:

>Announce book releases, book signings, events, or appearances.

>Post banners or links on TREI.

>Purchase half-page ads or full-page ads.

>Publish reviews of their books.

Welcome to the World of TREI Literary Magazine....Where You Will Always Be Heard...
Current mood: excited
Category: Writing and Poetry

Okay so now for a few words from the Editor-in-Chief and the Editor of TREI Literary Magazine, the vision of publishing mastermind, Vern Firestone, owner, CEO and President of TRIAD Publishing Group.

Editor-in-Chief, C. L. FREIRE

I can't remember a time when I didn't love writing; a time when I didn't long to let my imagination run wild and find its way onto the page. It's just this ginormous part of who I am. I know first hand how difficult a writer's life can be, what with rejection being something of the norm in the eyes of this close-minded industry. Yes, rejection was something I became quite familiar with, to the point that I no longer checked the mail for a possible "Yes, we'd love to take a look at your complete manuscript." No, I was checking for the rejections themselves, turning it into a mental trip, if only to hide the breaking of my heart.

And along that long and pot-hole-ridden road, I found myself in a writing forum one day, where I met a real writer for the very first time. And to my surprise, she was really nice and super helpful. One thing she told me was that I needed to open a Myspace page. And so I did, although truth be told, I did nothing with it for a long time. But one day I decided to take matters into my own hands and MAKE myself known, MY WAY. And so I came back to Myspace and threw myself into as often as I could. I started meeting writer after writer, many of whom were all in the same predicament as myself. They were all searching for the spark of inspiration and that helping hand in promoting their books, or trying to get someone to take them seriously.

As it goes, I decided someone needed to do something, so I put on my thinking cap. I remember I actually squealed with excitement when that famous little light bulb appeared over my head. It told me to start another Myspace page, which I aptly named Writers Together. I wanted to give everyone a place to come and hang out, and a place where they can finally plant their voice and be heard. Time raced along, and as the page exploded into the monster it is today, there came a time when I could no longer handle it on my own. And my AMAZING FRIEND, M, stepped in and offered to help me run it. Now, I was always happy with the page itself, but to be honest with you all, I always felt like I needed to do more to help others. More than Myspace allowed.

And so when Vern Firestone called me this week and told me about this idea he was tossing around…one he was ubber excited about, he finally spilled the beans. He wanted to get the online magazine up ad running. The one he had told me about back when I'd met him in December last year. Now, realize, back then, he had mentioned wanting me to submit a monthly column to it, and I remembered that clearly, and felt his excitement spreading over to me. So imagine my GINORMOUS surprise when he said he wanted ME to be the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine. I was beyond honored. Immediately all these light bulbs starting popping on over my head. Finally, a chance to do what I always wanted to do with Writers Together, only THIS would be like WT on steroids. And so, I proudly present to you, TREI Literary Magazine.

And just as I did when I started on Myspace, we're going to do things very differently from what this industry will have you believe is the way things are done. WE are going to do it OUR way! With TREI, every writer and illustrator will finally have a voice. And yes, I said illustrators. These are those fabulous people who bring our books to life on first sight. People who are often forgotten or simply thrown behind the scenes never to be heard from or of again.

The truth is we are all on the same road at some point or another. Well, with TREI, as well as with the amazing powerhouse that is TRIAD Publishing Group standing beside us all, not to mention M and myself, together WE are going to make sure NO ONE gets lost on that road. After all, we know how hard it is for a new writer to plant his / her flag in this industry. To make themselves open, available, and known to the world. How hard it is for them to really make their voice heard. Because in the end, that is really the key to every writer—the need to be heard. And with TREI Literary Magazine, we are honored to say to you all, "Welcome Home".

GINORMOUS HUGS and INFINITELY OPEN DOORS TO ALL:)

Editor, M. R. GREEN

Not too long ago the flame that was my passion for writing exploded into a full-on bonfire. That happened, of course, because I got to know other writers.

You see, I had always believed the myth that writing was a solo act. I'd sit at my desktop in the corner of my kitchen, the computer's blank white page staring up at me accusingly, and I'd pound words onto the screen just before taking them all back. And when I actually came up with something and I would try to share it with the non-readers and non-writers around me, I was offered nothing more than the obligatory smile and a stare as blank as the page before being offered pie or a cookie—sometimes even a second helping of peas. If you yourself have very few writer friends, then surely you already know the strange, ill-fitting isolation I'm talking about.

Then one day I took a chance and stepped out of my comfort-zone. Not long after that, I met C. L. Freire, and she introduced me to a whole network of writers. Suddenly, writing became less of an isolated, unjustified task, and more of a joy. It was allowed to exist and flourish as the passion I knew it was always meant to be.

And isn't that what it's all about? Passion? But what good is that passion if you have no one to share it with? This is where we at TREI Literary Magazine come in. Here, you'll not only find a cool place to browse around on the fine art of the written word or to delve into helpful resources, but you'll also find a place to hang out, meet people who share your love of the craft, and sharpen your own.  Here, you'll finally find a place where you will always belong. A place to keep that passionate flame alive. And maybe, just maybe, watch it explode into what you knew it was always meant to be.

Happy Writing,

M. R. Green
