Our Holiday On The Island Of Quadra: Part One
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Life
Hi Boys and Girls:
This will undergo revision as I polish it up. Hold on to your hats, there are a LOT of photos to be posted.... which I will split up over several postings.
We had a great time. From the moment we left Vancouver until the sad moment of leaving....
Our hosts were fantastic. Their home even more so. The island is indescribably beautiful, and I have found where I want to live the rest of my life.
We were so sad to leave. A week was barely enough. Enough, however, to infect us with a yearning to stay and make a life there. Don't know how my daughter feels about it, but I sure know how her daughter feels about it.
I can't begin to tell you how peaceful it was. How different. Of course, it's been a while since I have had a holiday, but I have never had one so calm, so forgiving, so healing.
Here's my girl on the way there:
I mean really. Have you ever seen a happier 7 year old??
This is the overview map of where we will end up:
And here is a closeup:
Howsomever, a certain person doesn't care, she just wants to be there already. Heh. I wish I was 7 again.... Talk about loving the wind in your face:
Look at the big boat we're on, Gramma!
Ah.... open water.....
I will leave you with this for now, a view from the window as we woke up the next morning in our friends' house:
Sunday Cartoon Fun: Let's Hear It For Penguins & Small Furry Mammals:
and of course:
And to conclude:
I am obsessing about the weather forecast for Vancouver Island. I fear it is scheduled to rain for most of our trip. Which means trying to reschedule. Which means cancellation fees and all kinds of hassle, not to mention the disappointment of a child. AUGH.
So cartoons are the best I can come up with today.
