10:00 AM - Make Me Happy
Current mood: happy

Thank Thor for Jessica Sprague. Not only does her scrapbooking rock my world and provide endless inspiration, but her blogs about life in general make me smile. Her latest suggestion, to write about the top 10 things that make me happy right now, couldn't have come at a better time. I wasn't in the best of moods yesterday, and forcing myself to take a step back and remember all the good things in my life is theraputic (and much cheaper than a therapist).

So, in no particular order...

1) The latest love of our life, Jacopo. In just over a month he has tested and strengthened my patience, expanded my heart, and brought us so much joy. Seriously, we couldn't have picked a better pup. We got sooo lucky. And it makes my heart swell to see that everybody who's met him just loves him to pieces, too (although it does make it difficult to get out of Petsmart in under an hour). Poor thing just had half his manhood taken away this past weekend, but he's recovering just fine. The real trick is keeping him from being too active! (Haha, good joke, Mrs. Vet. April Fools, right?) But honestly, its incredibly difficult to say no to this face (well, either of those faces):

2) Maeve Binchy. Her writing makes me laugh out loud. I get so incredibly wrapped up in her characters in just a few sentences - now that is power. I just finished her most recent book, which you can check out here (or you can get it at Costo, like I did ). I think its the best she's published in years.

3) That my mother made it out of surgery with no complications. She had the big H done on Friday, and as of Saturday night she was back home and doing fine, albeit tired. But her pain seems to be pretty minimal, and the real challenge now is to keep her from overdoing it while she's at home recovering! Unfortunately her being down for the count meant no Easter get-together this year (or as we lovingly nicknamed it last year, Boozeaster), but I gladly gave it up for her good health. We'll just make it extra-big next year!

4) In the Easter vein, Reeses Easter Eggs make me very happy. Nuff said.

5) Also in that vein, my mom being bedridden for a month means I get the chance to finally teach her digital scrapbooking and how to use Photoshop Elements. And that makes me super happy, because it combines two of my favorite things: digi scrapping and teaching!

6) My new wedges for spring, from Aerosoles. They've wised up in recent years to the fact that women want comfort and style, and now they've got the cutest stuff! Next on the list might have to be these cute flats, since I'd be able to wear them to work and play.

7) My best friend Nikki, and the awesome way our concert season 2007 seems to be shaping up. We had SO much fun at Josh Groban last weekend, and I can't wait for the next one we go to (did I hear Minus the Bear? or was that Dave Matthews Band?).

8) Free blogs through Google. With the spare time I often get at work, it seems like something productive to do (and might keep me from buying ever more digiscrap supplies). Crackspace and LJ only offer so much in the way of personalization, and I want to have something that techno-challenged family members can easily look at as well. But first I have to decide on a title so I can design a header...any suggestions?

9) My new Shiseido skincare products. It was a splurge for sure, but my skin has never felt better. The texture is better, my foundation sits on my skin better, and I feel like it actually breathes better. I highly recommend them to anyone who's had skin problems like I have. Plus they give you the most awesome free facial massages at the counter!

10) Real Simple's website. Yes, much of it is endless product-pushing, but I've gotten some great tips and ideas from there, above and beyond their magazine. Stuff like shortcuts on cleaning - who doesn't want that?

That should just about do it for now...there are, of course, other things that make me happy, but that's all I have time to share for now!

8:57 AM - Watch you move like a knife through the water
Current mood: chipper

Stolen from the lovely Suz...happy Friday!!

1. Can you tie a cherry stem with your mouth?
I still don't understand the appeal of that. A good kiss is all in how you use your lips. Tongue comes second.

2. Do you believe that Jesus actually existed once?
Well thanks to that recent special on the History channel we know there at least was one guy named Jesus around that time.  Its up for debate if he was THE Jesus. But I do believe such a person existed, although history can never fully (or accurately) preserve how a person really was, because it goes with the whole human nature thing and perception. If you think about how much the media can skew the image of a person today, imagine how a person's image can be skewed over 2 millenia. ::steps off soapbox::

3. Have you ever broken a bone?
No, knock on wood. I'm really surprised too, considering what a tomboy I was. And my freakishly small wrists.

4. Do you really like snow or do you just like snow days?
Its hard to tell, since we don't get much of either around here. But I do love playing in the snow, although I think it would suck trying to slog through it to work for days on end. Its much easier to run errands when you have clear skies.

5. What do you do when you're depressed?
Distract myself with various forms of entertainment.

6. What did you eat for breakfast?
Banana nut loaf.

7. Drink any alcohol today?
Not yet, but the day is still young!

8. Do you like forming words with alphabet soup?
I don't know if I've ever had alphabet soup. My mom was a big fan of tomato.

9. Can you snap your fingers?
Word.

10. Does your door have a "Do Not Disturb" sign?
No, but our mat says "LEAVE". Too bad solicitors can't read.

11. Has your best friend ever moved away?
I've moved and friends have moved. Either physically or not.

12. When was the last time you played MASH?
Jesus. When I was 14, maybe?

13. Would you cry if MySpace stopped working?
Perhaps. I can be terrible about calling people, so this works really well for me to keep in touch.

14. Are you a romantic person?
Not in a commercial Valentine's day-way, but yes, in my own way.

15. Do you know anyone who is homophobic?
Unfortunately. But I don't exactly call them friends.

16. Are you too young to have sex?
Heehehe.

17. Have you ever cried in front of a teacher before?
Once. But I truly hated her. And when you're 16, it can come easily.

18. When was the last time you used MS paint for and for what?
Uh, never. I taught myself Photoshop instead.

19. Is there someone who you like at the moment?
I like lots of people… (ditto Suz)

20. Where do you want to go on your honeymoon?
Someplace interesting, but where I won't feel bad if we just hang out the entire time and don't go sightseeing. Like the Carribean.

21. Do you want to be a grandparent?
Eventually. In 40 years or so.

22. Do you want to be buried or cremated?
Cremated, but leave a marker somewhere please.

23. When making your favorite food, do you have to boil water?
What is this "boil water" you speak of? I have a personal chef, his name is Chris.

24. What is your best friend's mom's name?
Jodi.

25. What body part do you wash first?
Hair.

26. What trait do you most dislike in yourself?
I'm gonna go with Suz's answer - procrastination.

27. Last thing received in the mail?
Bank statement.

28. Do you like Rammstein's music?
No thanks. German is harsh enough already.

29. Do you ever read trashy gossip magazines?
At the salon. Then I get so tired of them in an hour that I won't read them again until the next time I go, which is usually like 2 months later.

30. Do you have an unusual last name?
Kind of.

31. Do you think the girls on 'My Sweet Sixteen' are spoiled brats?
What?

32. What is your favorite perfume?
Chance by Chanel

33. What shampoo & conditioner suits your hair best?
I'm constantly trying different kinds.

34. Do you own the Sims 2?
Nope.

35. Do you prefer handwritten letters to those typed on the computer?
Depends on who is writing it.

36. What are your guilty pleasures?
Candy, retail therapy, professional massages.

37. Do you think you have an expansive vocabulary?
Ya. Thats what reading old books will do to you. I miss that kind of poetic language.

38. Do you prefer photography of scenes or people?
Depends...I definitely prefer paintings with people in them.

39. Do you like to buy new underwear?
I suppose.

40. Who is at home with you right now?
Well I'm at work, so...if I wasn't, I'd be with my boy and my pup.

41. Does anybody in your family try to make your life a nightmare?
I don't know if they consciously try...

42. Have you ever dissected a dead animal?
God no.

43. Do you ever download music illegially?
If you can't spell it I won't answer it.

44. Do you like men with facial hair?
The boy is definitely sexy with some scruff. But not when he grows it out to the homeless guy point!

45. What is your opinion on this Anna Nicole Smith business?
The media needs to eat a dick. Seriously, whatever happened to reporting on real movers and shakers who actually contributed to society?!?!

46. What is the last alcoholic beverage you drank?
Champagne.

47. Which do you use more often, the backspace key or the delete key?
Yes.

48. What's your favorite kind of survey?
The ones that distract me for long enough.

49. What time were you born?
Just after midnight. And it honestly was a dark and stormy night - October in Norway, you don't get much else.

50. Just to start off, what do you like to be called?
Something pleasant.

51. If you have a baby girl, what will you name her?
Who knows yet? Maybe I'll go the really old fashioned way and wait 6 months until their personality starts showing. But definitely NOT something that everybody else is named. How utterly boring.

52. What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
Financial stability.

53. When was the last time you washed your hair?
This morning.

54. Are you a child of the 70's 80's or 90's?
80s.

55. Who was your first crush?
Harrison Ford.

56. Have you ever licked the back of a CD to try to get it to work?
What?

57. Have you ever stolen a street sign before?
Well I was with some friends that did...

58. Do you cut out coupons?
Not anymore. What a waste of time just to save $1.50 on $80 of groceries!! An Albertsons card saves me 10 times that anyways.

59. Do you wear jewelry?
Yup.

60. What color is your house?
The apartments have a kind of modern-neutral thing going on...yellows and browns.

61. Spell your name without vowels:
Trd. Now thats funny.

62. What color do you wear most?
I have a lot of green...but I think its a tie between black, brown and jean.

63. Do you think O.J. killed his wife?
Obviously.

64. What's your opinion on sex without emotional commitment?
as long as both parties are on the same page… that's their business isn't it? - hear, hear, Suz.

65. Were you a 'planned' child?
Definitely.

66. When was the last time you slept on the floor?
Last night. Damn puppy.

67. What is your favorite salad dressing?
Balsamic vinegrette. Mmmm Ruta's....

68. What is the background of your phone?
Me, refusing to pay full price for a cell phone, bought it slightly used on Ebay. And I've loved the little sucker ever since.

69. Last cd you listened to every song on?
The Futureheads.

70. Where is your bestfriend?
Probably at the courthouse slaving for the judge again.

71. What are your plans for tomorrow?
Play with the pup, play with the boy, hang out with my mom doing girly things like getting our nails done. Woot!

72. What do you want?
To need less sleep. I'd get a lot more done that way. Anybody have any speed?

73. When was the last time you said "i hate you"?
Without joking? Never. You can't take that back.

74. Random lyric?
Theres something that you do
I just can't help myself
And I wish that I could move more in time with you.

I watch you step and I watch you turn
Watch you move like a knife through the water
Watch you moved across the floor, over to me, for all to see

75. What is something you recently realized?
Life is good.

7:47 PM - Shady Ladies Rock
Current mood: contemplative

1. Hi, my name is: Trude...dur. And no, its not short for Gertrude.

2. Never in my life have I: Been dependent on someone else for my own self-worth.

3. The one person who can drive me nuts is: there are several! But I think mom knows how to push all the right buttons, Thor love her.

4. High school: was okay, but I was always looking forward.

5. When I'm nervous: I get dry mouth. Really sucks in interviews.

6. The last time I cried was: Earlier this week. Being unemployed can do a number on self esteem.

7. If I were to get married right now my wedding party would be: like Nikki's (surprise) - "something classy of course that would go by the wayside once the champagne started flowing"

8. My hair is: getting longer every day (the longest its been since high school) and red-blonde

9. When I was 5: I was getting used to life in the States - new things like Easter egg hunts, Halloween, etc.

10. Last Christmas: was crazy-hectic, but good. We managed to see a lot of the people we love. :)

11. I should be: taking something for the migraine that's developing right now.

12. When I look down I see: my lap.

13. The craziest recent event was: Similar to Nikki's: playing Rayman's Rabbid Rabbits until 2am Monday night while eating corn bread :D

14. If I were a character on 'Friends' I'd be: Ew do I have to?

15. By this time next year: I'll have made some leeway on my masters!

16. My current gripe is: Headaches. Why god why?

17. I have a hard time understanding: advanced math. Always made me feel like a nitwit.

18. There's this guy I know who is: amazing and takes such great care of me. And is okay with poking fun at himself just for a laugh.

19. You know I like you when: I test how much teasing you can take. You just HAVE to be able to laugh at yourself!!

20. If I won an award, the first person I would tell would be: geez...Chris/Nikki, depending on who answered first! :)

21. Take my advice: take a minute to laugh. At whatever. Seriously, it will make all your worries seem smaller.

22. My most wanted item is: my family and friends. Is that allowed? Okay, maybe my camera.

23. If you visited the place I was born: you'd fall in love with it too. Norway is goooorgeous. Unlike SoCal, they've actually left the natural terrain fairly natural!!

24. I plan to visit: as many places as I possibly can.

25. If you spend the night at my house while no one was home: hmm sounds a little naughty...

26. I'd stop my wedding if: I felt any uncertainty.

27. The world could do without: many, many things. Most of which are man-made.

28. I'd rather lick the belly of a cockroach than: um...lick the belly of a cockroach. Fuck bugs.

29. Most recent thing I've bought myself: Groceries...and a purse. (surprise)

30. Most recent thing someone else bought me: shoes (thanks Auntie!)

31. My favorite blonde is: my mom

32. My favorite brunette is: Nikki!

33. My favorite redhead is: Katie

34. My middle name is: Marita (ssh don't tell anybody)

35. This morning I: Went for yet another interview

36. The animals I would like to see flying besides birds are: Bunnies...after playing that game I know nothing else is as funny in flight. Besides maybe pigs.

37. Once, at a party: I drank. Happy now?

38. Last night I was: just hanging out watching TV with Chris...very nice night.

39. There's this girl I know: that is so totally gorgeous but she doesn't even know it, silly bunt.

40. I don't know: how I'm going to pay for school. And a dog. But we'll figure it out somehow.

41. A better name for me would be: I'm okay with my name because it's unique around here, but I also love the family middle name, which is Olivia.

42. Tomorrow I am: going to another interview, then its laundry time. Wooo.

43. My birthday is: October 6th.

44. What I really want for Valentine's Day is: peace, quiet, and a 5th of whiskey!

6:34 PM - New Years 2006 - not for the slow of servers!

I know, I know, its about damn time I posted photos from New Years, so here you go – and you know I can't help but provide thoughtful, insightful commentary…

Here's Chris and I as we were about to head out the door (I think this is the damn cutest photo we've taken to date):

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So we headed over to Steve's boss' mansion that he was conveniently house-sitting for – and when they say "mansion", they MEAN it. The place was absolutely amazing for anybody who has an appreciation for art, architecture and/or design. I'll spare the details, but basically the place was designed around the owner's extensive art and antiques collection, most of which were from Asia. Sooo pretty…

For example, the pool:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

There were several themes of the night, but I think the main ones were kissing and nudity. To spare everyone's dignity (or lack thereof), I'm not going to post most of the nekkid ones, but the kissing ones are too good to resist. Such as Chris P. and Chris D.:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Or Steve and the girls:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Or this one…

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Or Dief (Deef? Def? Sorry bro I'm not even going to try to spell out the whole name!) and his girl:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Or James making Dief feel really uncomfortable:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

James' turn for lovin':

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

James and Alena, being very comfy in front of the outdoor fireplace:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Da boyz – Chris P., James, Steve, Chris D. (barely), Dief, and Ryan:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Steve and Alena:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Then it was my turn (finally) to get cozy with Alena (I know its bright, but I kinda like it!):

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Alena, Ryan and PJ trying to stay warm on the couch:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

James also staying warm (and yes, that is just the outside fireplace…you should have seen inside):

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Chris and Steve – surely they're up to no good…

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I'm not sure what this was supposed to be:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

How angelic, yet demonic they look:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The backside:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Bumping bellies (not nasties, I swear):

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Chris P., where he feels most comfortable (poor Beth):

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yes, he's lighting two, but its cool – one is for me!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

What better time than now for shots of Jim Beam?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Well, apparently that wasn't the best time for Steve:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hotness in James' hat!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Judging by his expression, Steve isn't quite sure what he's standing around for:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A common expression for Chris:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Me, Ryan and Alena:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

No good can come of this:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Chris and Beth:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Alena and me getting cozy with Steve:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And now, for some hilarity courtesy of Mr. Steve Barr.

Me getting attacked by half-naked men:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And laughing at their pathetic attempts to squash me:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Funny thing is, I really don't remember posing for this one:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I know, I know, gag me…but fuck you guys its cute:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And this has to be the best photo of the night (who knew you could get such good shots with a manual camera?):

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And that's all folks – if you're interested in getting copies of any photos of yourselves (especially naked ones I censored), just message me.

No way - I'd freeze my balls off!
