.. the 10 things tag ..
Current mood: hungry
Eric tagged me, so here we's go!
TAGGED
I have been tagged
Here's how you play. Once you been tagged you have to write a blog with 10 weird and random things, facts, habits, and goals about yourself. At the end choose 10 people to tag, lisiting their names and why you choose them; Leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged, and to read your blog; Let me know when you have completed your tag Just remember no tag backs.
1. My favorite number is 3. I'm not sure why, but ever since I can remember, it has been. I think odd numbers just "look" better, design- and organization-wise. And three is a good odd number.
2. Since buying my house, I have grown more and more able to kill spiders. I used to freak out (well, I still freak) and scream (well, I still scream) and yell for someone else to kill them. But now I can exterminate my own. But I still hate it. And them.
3. I run my fingers through books, sheafs (sheaves?) of paper, drapes, coathangers, and pretty much anything else smooth that I can divide into three.
4. I would probably eat sushi every day if I could afford it.
5. I do not eat bananas, but I don't mind banana-flavored things. I think it's a matter of texture.
6. I am afraid to go above the third or fourth rung of a ladder, but being in tall buildings or flying or riding rides doesn't scare me.
7. I love giving books as gifts. If I read a "new-to-me" book and think others should, too, I will buy copies for 5 or 6 people.
8. I wear a lot of black.
9. I have a knot on the top of my head that I don't think used to be there.
10. I spend more time than I should each day on Flickr.

".. in a lucky hour .."
Current mood: grateful
"One cannot divine nor forecast the conditions that will make happiness; one only stumbles upon them by chance, in a lucky hour, at the world's end somewhere, and holds fast to the days, as to fortune or fame." - Willa Cather
I am putting forth my very best effort to take in, to appreciate, to be thankful for, to experience, to enjoy and love, to share, and to thrive in every moment of *Forever Plaid.*
I've been fortunate to be a part of numerous productions over the past nine years of my life, but - honestly and truly - never have I been affected this way. These guys and these ladies, my friends all... we have come together to create something I believe to be unusually special. It is my prayer each night before opening the door to the theatre and beginning our "Admirabile commercium..." that we simply bring joy and laughter and music and smiles to the people who've given their time and money to come see us. If we can transport even one person each night to a place of peace and fun, away from any sadness or worries or sickness or concerns he may have, then we've done a good job for those 90 minutes we're allowed the stage.
I sure am going to miss this. But I think I'll carry a little bit - no, a lot - of Jinx with me forever.

"Leave only the sweetest scent behind..."
Current mood: vexed
Okay, so I was at a local home accoutrema store during lunch to get a wedding reception gift. While I was waiting on the lady to wrap my picture frame I chose, I was perusing other wares of the store. I happened upon a corner filled with small bottles that looked to be some sort of home fragrance. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the product is called "No. 2."
I picked up one of the bottles, and, as I did, I read the little slogan on the box from which I took it... It read: "Leave Only the Sweetest Scent Behind." I deemed that odd but kept on reading. On the bottle itself was a very special message.
"Spray No. 2 Before Using the Loo and No One Will Ever Have a Clue."
Now that's just not okay.

.. "and it’s still nice and tight" ..
Current mood: sassy
What a song to be in my head on a Monday morning...
"If I Can't Sell It (I'm Gonna Keep Sitting On It)"
I own a second-hand furniture store, and I think my prices are fair. But this real cheap guy came in and saw a chair he wanted to buy - But he wouldn't - said my prices were too high. So I looked him straight in the eye, and this was my reply:
"If I can't sell it, I'm gonna keep sitting on it. I ain't gonna give it away. Now, honey, if you want it, you've got to buy it. And I mean just what I say. Now, how would you like to find this waiting at home for you each night? Only been used once or twice, and it's still nice and tight. That's right - if I can't sell it, I'm gonna keep sitting on it. I ain't gonna give it away.
"Now you can't find a better pair of legs in town, and a back like this? Not for miles around. And that's why if I can't sell it, I'm gonna recline upon it. Why should I give it away? Honey, it's made for comfort. Built for wear and tear. Where else can you find such an - easy - chair? That's right - if I can't sell it, I'm gonna keep sitting on it. I ain't gonna give it away.
"Because it's lush, plush, slick, and sleak. Darlin' a high-class piece like this at ANY price is cheap! So if I can't sell it, I'm gonna sit back down onto it. Ain't no need to be giving it away. Now, look at this nice bottom. Ain't it easy on the eye? Guaranteed to support any weight and any size. That's right - so if I can't sell it, I'm gonna keep sitting on it. I ain't gonna give it away.
"Now, I have really had my fill of folks coming around with their hands stuck out, wanting something, don't want to give up nothing. If you want this, put your hand in your stash, and give me some cash! If you want something for free, go to the Salvation Army; don't come running to me. 'Cause if I can't sell it, I'm gonna keep sitting on it, baby. I ain't gonna give it away."

fun with album covers
Thanks, Marcus! I'm doing some now, too.
(Marcus wrote...) Create a random album cover. Ingredients: Go to Wikipedia and hit the "random article" link (it's on the left side). The title of that article is your band's name. The last four words of the last quote on the Random Quotations Page is your album title. Then go to Flickr's "interesting picture" stream and the first image there is your album cover. It's fun and oddly addictive.

.. just makes me pissed ..
Current mood: vehement
So the Clay Aiken is in *Spamalot* on Broadway now. Good job, Clay's agents, because he's on TV complaining about how it's so hard, how he's so tired, how he admittedly cannot dance, blah blah blah, and you know.. It just makes me pissed because there are guys and girls out there who are trained and who are busting their freakin' ASSES off every single day even to get IN the door for an audition, and there he is just walking into the role because it's something new to do.
I mean, please come on.. Take it and love it and make it yours and shut the fuck up with the complaints. Look at Fantasia's ass.. She took the role in *Color Purple* and rocked the shit out of it. She said it was hard, but she made it hers, and she didn't whine or complain (at least, not that I heard, watched or read).
Damn, Clay. I don't even really know who you are, but please don't dog the life I love. Instead of complaining how hard it is and how "someone drew the short straw" and had to teach you to dance, why not just say what an amazing challenge it is and how you're learning and accomplishing more than you ever thought you could?
Damn.

Watch...
Current mood: thoughtful
Had an excellent class this week, and Dean Mike White shared this with us.
Watch your thoughts; they become your words. Watch your words; they become your actions. Watch your actions; they become your habits. Watch your habits; they become your character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

long sleeves + shorts = NO
People in long-sleeved tshirts or - can you believe it? - hoodies and SHORTS confuse the hell out of me. Isn't part of your person cold/hot?
And come the hell on, people, it's still Mississippi in September. And it only rained for one night. The temperature is still in the 70s. You do NOT need a sleeve or a damn hoodie yet.
Good grief.
Thank you.

the world will know
Current mood: peaceful
I just love this, and it's been in my head again lately. Love.
*****
Draw me no maps. Vow me no vows, No vague "perhaps," just here and nows.
Tomorrow's dream is not my dream. It comes too late, and I can't wait.
The river runs with one remark: "Get on your way; it's growing dark."
And so I live to have my say, To get and give each burning day.
And if, in time, I find my love, He'll find that I'm no frightened dove,
For all too soon young love is past. Its tender leaves fall all too fast.
Each rising hill, each falling stream Calls to fulfill each day's new dream.
Some brighter road to fly along, Some stronger wine, some wilder song.
And when I've gone, don't shed one tear. The world will know that I've been here.
*****
always for Ray.
