Anyone in Hawaii?

Me and Brandon from Nightmare of You will be in Hawaii from Feb 3-10.
He's looking to book an acoustic set (ideally on the island of Maui) and we're both looking to DJ.
If anyone reading this is a fan of NOY or can set us up with a DJ gig, that'd be awesome. Even if its for a house party, cafe performance, or birthday party.
This is our first time in Hawaii and we wanna have a fun time!

TAKE BACK THE NIGHTLIFE
Ok guys. It's time to live life in retrospect. Things were easier (and much more fun) back then. This email isn't about your run-of-the-mill party. It's about the gathering of friends under the umbrella of a common cause. To take back the nightlife. To have a place in the East Village that's devoid of douche. A place where you can hear the songs you used to fuck to. The songs you remembered as you waited on that long bathroom line. This is something to fill the void in conversation when a friend asks you "what did you do this weekend?" or "what's there to do in New York City on a Friday night?" But you know what? Fuck it. They won't even be asking, because the point of this new incarnation of Stolen Transmission is that it will become a given. The given that Orchard Bar once was. Your friends will be there. And everyone else will soon want to be. Let's make this one for the diaries.
STOLEN TRANSMISSION FRIDAYS are now at.... THE HANGER BAR.
Karen and I went to check it out yesterday. It smells like Lit circa 2003. Aka, AWESOME.
THE HANGER BAR
3rd street between B and C (north side of 3rd).
11 pm til 4 am every Friday (as in, starting TOMORROW).
We will have a bottle of booze in the DJ booth (and can provide the same for any afterparty entourage). We also may or may not have our own private back room. Just sayin.

Later that night, a whole bunch of us went to Orchard Bar to celebrate Gurj Bassi's birthday at the old Stolen Transmission party. Here's the birthday girl holding her (near destroyed) lamb-shaped cake. Hahaha.

Later that night, Mike and I went to Orchard bar. Right around 4am, this girl tried to pick a fight with one of our friends and then Sarah turned the music off and the whole place started booing her. I managed to snap this photo as she grabbed her stuff and left in a huff (bonus points to Brandon Reilly who can be seen in the background laughing at her!).
Even Merlin was appalled.

On Friday night I went to Orchard Bar to for Sarah and Karen's Stolen Transmission party.
So Gurj and I are down there, hiding in the back, getting kind of drunk and lookee lookee who else shows up! Lil' Miss Leigh Lezark (seen here giving me her best Princess Coldstare gaze).
We had a few more drinks and then the next thing you know...
...another stupid face contest broke out. If I remember correctly, this one was about making your best "vampire face." Here's mine.
After the vampire contest was over, Leigh showed off how her finger healed all wonky after never having gone to the doctor to get it set properly after having gotten it broken a few months back on Halloween. Hahah.
After we were done admiring Leigh's newly misshapen (HA!) finger, we found an empty bucket in the back of the coat room that was filled with tubes of caulk. Which immediately led to a full-out...

Fast forward one week and I'm back in the same place: down in the basement coat room of Orchard Bar hiding out from the crowds. Except this time, I'm having fun with tape on my face! Woooo!
Yep, Leigh was there again too. And yes, she also had tape on her face. Us muthafuckas know how to party. Some tape on the face...
...throw in a book about Stonehenge that we found...
...maybe a dusty motorcycle helmet or two, and our private party was raging and in full effect.
With the amount of tape-faced fun we were having, it was only a matter of time before people were looking to join our kicking party...and suddenly, Niki the roommate appeared from between a wall of hanging coats!
And she'd even brought Hot Karla with her!
Around 4:30am, the bar was closed and we were all hanging around waiting for Sarah and Karen to pack up their gear, things started getting frisky. It started out with some MilliVanilli-style boobie-bumpin' going on between Leigh and Gurj.
Then Karen fell down.
But that didn't stop her from trying to get her boob-grope back on from down on the floor.
Don't worry (Lawrence), their tongues aren't actually touching...because that would be gay.

On Friday night, I went to the Stolen Transmission at Orchard Bar for a special "It's Sarah's Birthday" party! Here's Karen with the birthday girl!

Everyone that was there that night was totally rowdy. At one point in the night, Karen and Jenny realized that they were both wearing ridiculous 80s tights, which led to a whole series of photos like this. Hahaha. (This is pretty much the photo that should be displayed in the Wikipedia entry for "free-drink tickets: results of").
I can't believe that's actually Jenny's leg that Gurj is holding. It looks like Jenny's handing her some kind of fake "trick" leg or something.

This concludes this stolen trasmission newsletter... and so this is the spot where I spotlight an amazing species of animal. This week's animal is DWARF MANATEE  Oh, as if Manatees couldnt be any cuter, they now come in a compact size! Look at that dude above! He's an adult male and only 130 cms long and about 90 cms in circumference. Dwarf Manatees weighed 60kgs each and have a short bristly snout. They are very dark, almost black in appearance ... this guy up there had a white patch on the abdomen. Dwarf manatees are considered to be critically endangered as they are highly restricted ecologically and geographically. It is thought that there may be less than 100 individuals in this population, and they are not known from any other locality. They are hunted as game, and their habitat is highly susceptible to illegal mining of gravel and gold, timber extraction and commercial fishing. Please read more about them HERE. OK, so that's it!
