RE: CATS AND THE SAINT MOHAMMED

hello everyone i miss everyone here at myspace . i have been mostly at the friendship club tagged lately if anyone would like to visit me there. I ran across this information on the internet and i wanted to share it with you because I love cats and all animals very much. These anecdotes regading the life of the Saint Mohammed are known as hadiths and I would like to share one with you regarding his expereince with cats:

When call to prayers was announced Muezza was asleep on one of the sleeves of the Prophet's robes. The Prophet wanted to wear the robe to go to prayers. Rather than disturb Muezza Mohammed cut off the sleeve to leave Muezza in peace. Mohammed then stroked the cat three times, which, legend has it, granted Muezza seven lives and the ability to land on his feet at all times (as you might know, cats have a self-righting mechanism,a righting reflex, which is a complex series of movements when a cat falls and which protects the cat from breaking her back)

Mohammed was so attached to his cat that when he gave sermons he let Muezza rest on his lap and he also drank from water previously drunk by his cat. He also did his ablutions from the same water that was drunk by a cat. He seemed to treat his cat in the same way as cat lovers do today but even cat lovers might think twice about drinking the same water that had been drunk by a cat for fear of transmission of disease from the cat's saliva (but see below).

The Islam faith teaches Muslims to treat cats well and that the cat is a creature to be cherished and loved. Mistreating a cat is regarded as a severe sin in Islam.

Cats according to the Quran and Sunnah

An example as to how Muslims are punished for mistreating cats can be found in the Hadith (oral traditions telling the story of the Prophet Mohammed and which have been recorded in writing). When a woman kept a cat locked up and failed to feed the cat until the cat died, the woman was tortured and "put to Hell".

It is believed that you will suffer no harm if you drink from the cat's water provided no impurities are seen in the cat's mouth. In another story from Hadith it is stated that a when a cat ate a pudding put down during prayers, the person who was in charge of the pudding ate from the same place as the cat and Mohammed said this was alright as the cat is not unclean and is "one of those who go around amongst us".

The Islam faith teaches Muslims that, in relation to a cat:

  • the cat should not be sold for money or other traded goods
  • cats saliva is harmless unless the cat has "visible impurities" in the mouth
  • that Muslims are free to live with cats but they must treat cats well, providing the cat with enough water and food and giving "roaming time" (a degree of freedom of movement)

The al-Bukhari's authentic (Hadith) is is one of the Sunni six major Hadith collections (Wikipedia).Muslims see this Hadith as the most trusted and is the most "authentic" holy book after the Quran.

In this Hadith, the Islam faith in relation to cats is set out in Volume 3, Book 40, Number 552. The story of the women mentioned above is recited. It seems that the woman was scratched by the cat and to punish the cat she imprisoned it a failed to feed it. Her actions were frowned upon and she was duly punished.

The islam faiths teachings in relation to cats indicates a gentle approach to our fellow creatures.

New York Infantry & Pigeons of War

Hi Everyone!

We have had many veterans in our family , my Dad Roberto, my Uncle Carlos, my Uncle Francisco, they are all presently deceased  however they did not die during a war. Only one family member of mine died during a  war and that was my Cousin Johnn V. who died in Vietnam. I extend my love to them everyday.

Below is a little anecdote from  my friend Anna Dove that I hope you will enjoy. Surely my deceased relatives would have enjoyed it. It is about how brave pigeons helped us to win World War I and World War II., especially one little guy named Cher Ami

Many pigeons became quite famous among the infantrymen they worked for. One pigeon named "The Mocker", flew 52 missions before he was wounded. Another was named "President Wilson". He was injured in the last week of the war and it seemed impossible for him to reach his destination. Though he lost his foot, the message got through to save a large group of surrounded American infantrymen.

Cher Ami

Probably the most famous of all the carrier pigeons was one named Cher Ami, two French words meaning "Dear Friend". Cher Ami was several months on the front lines during the Fall of 1918. He flew 12 important missions to deliver messages. Perhaps the most important was the message he carried on October 4, 1918.

Mr. Charles Whittlesey was a lawyer in New York, but when the United States called for soldiers to help France regain its freedom, Whittlesey joined the Army and went to Europe to help. He was made the commander of a battalion of soldiers in the 77th Infantry Division, known as "The Liberty Division" because most of the men came from New York and wore a bright blue patch on their shoulders that had on it the STATUE OF LIBERTY.

On October 3, 1918 Major Whittlesey and more than 500 men were trapped in a small depression on the side of the hill. Surrounded by enemy soldiers, many were killed and wounded in the first day. By the second day only a little more than 200 men were still alive or unwounded.

Major Whittlesey sent out several pigeons to tell his commanders where he was, and how bad the trap was. The next afternoon he had only one pigeon left, Cher Ami.

During the afternoon the American Artillery tried to send some protection by firing hundreds of big artillery rounds into the ravine where the Germans surrounded Major Whittlesey and his men. Unfortunately, the American commanders didn't know exactly where the American soldiers were, and started dropping the big shells right on top of them. It was a horrible situation that might have resulted in Major Whittlesey and all his men getting killed--by their own army.

Major Whittlesey called for his last pigeon, Cher Ami. He wrote a quick and simple note, telling the men who directed the artillery guns where the Americans were located and asking them to stop. The note that was put in the canister on Cher Ami's left leg simply said:

"We are along the road parallel to 276.4.

"Our own artillery is dropping a barrage directly on us.

"For heaven's sake, stop it."

As Cher Ami tried to fly back home, the Germans saw him rising out of the brush and opened fire. For several minutes, bullets zipped through the air all around him. For a minute it looked like the little pigeon was going to fall, that he wasn't going to make it. The doomed American infantrymen were crushed, their last home was plummeting to earth against a very heavy attack from German bullets.

Somehow Cher Ami managed to spread his wings and start climbing again, higher and higher beyond the range of the enemy guns. The little bird flew 25 miles in only 25 minutes to deliver his message. The shelling stopped, and more than 200 American lives were saved...all because the little bird would never quit trying.

Cher Ami was wounded but healed

On his last mission, Cher Ami was badly wounded. When he finally reached his coop, he could fly no longer, and the soldier that answered the sound of the bell found the little bird laying on his back, covered in blood. He had been blinded in one eye, and a bullet had hit his breastbone, making a hole the size of a quarter. From that awful hole, hanging by just a few tendons, was the almost severed leg of the brave little bird. Attached to that leg was a silver canister, with the all-important message. Once again, Cher Ami wouldn't quit until he had finished his job.

Cher Ami became the hero of the 77th Infantry Division, and the medics worked long and hard to patch him up. When the French soldiers saw that the Americans were fighting to help and they learned of the story of Cher Ami's bravery and determination, they gave him one of their own country's great honors.

Cher Ami, the brave carrier pigeon was presented a medal called the French Croix de guerre with a palm leaf.

Though the dedicated medics saved Cher Ami's life, they couldn't save his leg. The men of the Division were careful to take care of the little bird that had saved 200 of their friends, and even carved a small wooden leg for him. When Cher Ami was well enough to travel, the little one-legged hero was put on a boat to the United States. The commander of all of the United States Army, the great General John J. Pershing, personally saw Cher Ami off as he departed France.

Back in the United States the story of Cher Ami was told again and again. The little bird was in the newspapers, magazines, and it seemed that everyone knew his name. He became one of the most famous heroes of World War I. Years after the war a man named Harry Webb Farrington decided to put together a book of poems and short stories about the men and heroes of World War I. When his book was published, it contained a special poem dedicated to Cher Ami.

Cher Ami died a year later after he had completed his service to the United States Army Signal Corps. Upon his death a taxidermist preserved the small pigeon for future generations, a bird with a story that became an inspiration to millions over the years.

In fierce fighting and deep in enemy territory, American pigeons carried life-or-death messages that radio and field phones could not.

This Memorial Day, when we commemorate the men and women who have died in war, we will also take a moment to reflect on how many pigeons and animals have also suffered and died for human military purposes.

The ability to communicate is essential to soldiers in the field. Without communications to their commanders or support units in the rear area, soldiers on the front line can't send messages about their progress, request needed supplies, or call for help when things reach their worst.

During World War I, messages were sometimes transmitted by wire (telegraph of field phone), but two-way radio communications had not yet become available. Sometimes a unit was ordered to attack over a broad and often difficult terrain, making it impossible to string the wire necessary for communications. In these situations, a field commander often carried with him several carrier pigeons.

DIFFERENT PURPOSES THAT PIGEONS SERVED DURING THE WAR:

Pigeons served many purposes during the war, racing through the skies with airplanes, or even being fitted with cameras to take pictures of enemy positions. But one of the most important roles they served it was as messengers. An important message could be written on a piece of paper, then that paper neatly folded and secured in a small canister attached to a pigeon's leg. Once the pigeon was released, it would try to fly to its home back behind the lines, where the message would be read and transmitted to the proper military planners.

The United States Army is divided among several different specialties, the men from each specialty trained for a particular kind of work. Infantrymen are trained to fight on the ground, artillerymen are responsible for the big guns, armor refers to the men who fight in tanks, and the Air Service was the name for the group of soldiers who fought in the air during World War I.

One of the oldest of these groups of soldiers was the members of the U.S. ARMY SIGNAL CORPS. Since the birth of our Nation, it was these men that were responsible for insuring that messages between all units, (including messages to other branches of service like the Navy and Marines), got through. The Army Signal Corps identifies itself by a torch with two crossed flags. These represent SIGNAL FLAGS, a common way that messages were passed using code.

When the United States entered World War I in 1917, the Army Signal Corps was given 600 pigeons for the purpose of passing messages when it couldn't be done by signal flag or field phone. The pigeons were donated by bird breeders in Great Britain, then trained for their jobs by American soldiers.

1,442 PIGEONS WERE USED IN THE BATTLE OF VERDUN

During the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, the 2-month battle that finally ended World War I, 442 pigeons were used in the area of Verdun to carry hundreds of messages. This is how the system worked:

When a commander in the field needed to send a message, he first wrote it out on paper, trying to be both brief and yet as detailed as possible. Then he called for one of his Signal Corps officers, who would bring one of the pigeons that went with the soldiers into battle. The message would be put in the capsule on the birds leg, and then the bird would be tossed high in the air to fly home.

The carrier pigeon would fly back to his home coop behind the lines. When he landed, the wires in the coop would sound a bell or buzzer, and another soldier of the Signal Corps would know a message had arrived. He would go to the coop, remove the message from the canister, and then send it by telegraph, field phone or personal messenger, to the right persons.

Carrier pigeons did an important job. It was also very dangerous. If the enemy soldiers were nearby when a pigeon was released, they knew that the bird would be carrying important messages, and tried their best to shoot the pigeon down so the message couldn't be delivered

Medals were bestowed upon the following pigeons for acts of bravery and for saving the lives of thousands of humans.

HUSBAND HEALED HIMSELF OF CANCER IN 4 MONTHS
Category: Life

This is a personal account of how my husband cured himself from cancer of the urinary bladder and was diagnosed as free of cancer cells today February 5th, 2008.

I have always counseled my  friends  who all  have different illnesses to follow two paths conjointly: 1) that of orthodox medicine in other words official medicine 2)  natural or holistic medicine. So that one may complement the other.  The reason for this is that I have seen vegetarians as well as non vegetarians die from cancer.

The philosopher and doctor Serge Raynaud states that illnesses have two sources 1) "the emotional part for example a mistaken thought" I beleive by this he means guilt that is subconscious 2) "a diet which  is lacking nutritionally" or a diet that is not alkaline.

888888888888888888  We are all born with cancer cells. However it is only when our  immune system is low  because we have an acidic diet and not an alkaline one coupled with stress, do the previously invisible cancer cells become visible because they are reproducing at a much greater rate thus the term "cancer illness" 888888888888888888.

On September of 2006 my husband told me that when he urinated it burned him and  he saw tiny dots of blood . I had imagined it to be a urinary tract infection. At this point in time he insisted that he wanted to see a spanish speaking doctor since his friend had mentioned a spanish urologist to him that was supposedly excellent. My husband waited until January 2007 to see this doctor, then he waited until June 2007 in order to ask for the test results. He did not get the test results at that time because the waiting room was always filled with people and he didnt have the patience to wait. This was a blessing in disguise.

At the end of July when my husband was bleeding so profusely that he would fill up the entire toilet with blood was when he gave me the OK to find another urologist. This doctor had an associate who was a cancer urologist and his office was right next to his. When the doctor called me to tell me that my husband had to see his associate the following monday I already knew that my husband Amado, had cancer of the bladder. Immediately I began to prepare all kinds fo natural juices such as carrot , beet, spinach, watercress, parsely juices,  and emphasize the importance of it to my hsuband.

The following monday the cancer urologist that we saw was nasty & abrupt and offered no explanations and only said that he wanted to remove amado's bladder. So I cancelled the following appointment over the telephone because I felt that he might be lying. The secretary called me many times to try to intimidate me and when the doctor himself called me I hung up the phone on him.  During the following month I interviewed about five doctors before staying with one that I was comfortable with. But prior to these interviews I went back to the original doctor that Amado saw, the one that spoke spanish to ask him what were the results of  the tests that he conducted on Amado and he said that they were all negative. At that point I said really? It seems that your colleagues believe that Amado has cancer of the bladder. He reconducted the exams and stated that his collegues were correct but that he was not a bladder specialist only a prostrate specialist. He then gave me a name of a specialist associate of his and i discarded it.

888888888888888888888888   Amado then began to drink anywhere from 8 to 15 glasses of carrot juice daily , someatoimes mixing it green vegetables because of its anticarcinogenic effect. Of course I always tried to make sure that he reached 15 glasses a day but sometimes he couldnt or wouldnt .88888888888888888888888888

88888888888888888888888888  When he tired of the carrot +  juices he would replace those with 10 to 12 glasses of wheat grass juice. Wheat grass is a blood cleanser, healer, and has anticarcinogenic properties because of its high cholorophyll content. Plus it also produces oxygen in the blood. Together with an alkaline diet it has been known to heal many diseases 888888888888888888888888888

He also would also daily take several tablespoons of molasses which has tumor shrinking properties.

Amado also went to a friend's home where he received electromagnetic treatments. These can shrink tumor if the tumors are tiny which was not Amado's case although we didnt know it at the time.

Since  we noticed that he kept bleeding we stayed with the doctor that we liked the best and he was operated on . The doctor removed 80% of his enromous tumor which was malignant and had covered his entire bladder. It was level four and it had invaded the muscles. From there it is just a step away towards spreading towards the rest of the body which is known as mesthasizing (I know I spelled this wrong)

He then had 3 out of the recommended 5 chemotherapy treatments. The chemo was so harsh that he would only eat once every ten days. The chemo treatment was one week yes and one week no. during the one week no I tried to give him as much carrot juice and wheat grass juice that he could  or would take.

I also gave him geranium 132, several thousand milligrams of powdered vitamin C which is water soluable and several thousand milligrams of sublingual vitamin B12 which melts under the tongue and goes straight to the blood and is also water soluable.

One month after the chemotherapy I took him back to the surgeon in order to perform the second cystoscopy (when they look at your bladder by inserting a tiny camera into the penis) and the doctor was surprised to find no trace of tumor. However the doctor said that Amado still had to have his bladder removed because cancerous tumors and cells always either grow back or they spread. We set the appointment for the opeation.

However Amado's niece who lives in Cuba asked me to give her the pathology report over the telephone.

When I phoned the pathologist he wasnt allowed to give the information over the phone so I called the surgeon's nurse who is his right hand person and has read to me other reports over the telephone before. She said oh its  has level four and agressive cancer and the muscles were invaded I said I aready know that. I need to know the classiication of the tumor from the histological point of view as well as from the differential point of view .

8888888888888888888888888888  At that point she said " no cancer cells were found" 888888888888888888888888

I have calculated that it took Amado 4 months to heal himself from bladder cancer. Perhaps because it is an easier cancer to heal at this point I really dont know being that  the surgeon suggested only 5 chemotherapy treatments while other cancers require 10 or 36 treatments or perhaps the treatments suggested were so few because of the plan to remove the bladder . All I know is that we will always have to have vigilance so that it doesnt return.  ~Evelyn

LOVE IS THE ONLY FORCE

I HAVE DISABLED THE COMMENTS AND THE KUDOS. IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO COMMENT ON ANY OF MY POSTS PLEASE SEND ME A MYSPACE EMAIL : ) LOVE , EVELYN

***************THERE IS NOTHING THAT I CAN SAY THAT HASNT ALREADY BEEN SAID ABOUT MARTIN LUTHER KING. SO IN ORDER TO AVOID BEING REDUNDANT OR CLICHEISH I WISH TO SHARE THESE VERY SHORT QUOTES BY HIM ~EVELYN

1) Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

2) He should sweep streets so well that all the host of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lives a great street-sweeper who did his job well'.

3) One who breaks an unjust law must do so openly, lovingly, and with a willingness to accept the penalty.

4) I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today: my own government.

5) Everybody can be great....because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. your don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.

6) What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.

7) True compassion is more than throwing a coin to a beggar. It demands of our humanity that if we live in a society that produces beggars, we are morally commanded to restructure that society.

8) God writes the Gospel, not in the Bible alone, but on trees flowers, clouds and stars

9) The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.

10) We must combine the toughness of the serpent with the softness of the dove, a tough mind and a tender heart.

11) Nothing pains some people more than having to think.

12) That old law about "an eye for an eye" leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.

13) The spirit of Lincoln still lives; that spirit born of the teachings of the Nazarene, who promised mercy to the merciful, who lifted the lowly, strengthened the weak, ate with publicans, and made the captives free. In the light of this divine example, the doctrines of demagogues shiver in their chaff.

14) Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.

15) Success, recognition, and conformity are the bywords of the modern world where everyone seems to crave the anesthetizing security of being identified with the majority.

16) Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.

17) There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it's right.

18) Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.
